By far the best emergency and specialty hospital! We’ve been here for a little over a year and we had a bad experience at one not too long ago so I was a little reluctant on coming here. From the beginning, the whole team was communicative on the status of our baby girl with morning and evening updates. They didn’t run unnecessary tests like some places have, listened to all my concerns, and made sure to send her home when they knew she would be ready and not try and force her out. I am forever grateful for the team and will be recommending everyone to them for any service.

2 months after my cat Finn had surgery at my regular vets to fix a blocked urethra he started having problems again, of course this happened late and on a weekend. After taking him to one emergency vet we were referred to take him to CARE in South Charlotte as his only option. Thats where he landed with Dr.Thompson. She had to do a second surgery to correct his issues. They kept him several days to make sure things went well. Dr Thompson called me herself every morning to update me. When we were able to bring him home she sent him home with a hard plastic collar. This worked so much better then the soft collar my other vet sent him home with originally. She also gave me a lot of great advice and tips to help him to heal. I am forever grateful to her and her team as they absolutely saved his life giving him a second chance.

I took my pug Julio to see Dr Fred Wininger on the strong recommendation of our trusted Vet. He was having isolated, shaking, episodes that had previously been diagnosed as a spinal nerve issue. Fred was extremely thorough and when Julio did not react well to his new medication, he walked us through each step with patience. I am very impressed with both his knowledge base and love for animals. I would highly recommend him for any neurologic or neurosurgical issues with your animals.I also found the Team at CARE to be responsive, knowledgeable and overall just easy to work with. I know my pug is taken care of and loved there!

I am so impressed with the level of care that my pet received at CARE. I have been fostering a litter of 6 week old kittens and last night, one of the kittens was not putting any weight on his rear left leg, had labored breathing, and had an extremely high fever. Everybody at CARE was so kind, compassionate, and supportive during such a stressful time. Dr. Shaw and Dr. Huang were extremely thorough and went above and beyond to care for Henry while he stayed in the hospital overnight and provide me with updates on his progress. I am so grateful to the team at CARE for saving Henry’s life. Josh was so thorough and kind when he discharged Henry from the hospital this morning. I can tell that the team at CARE really care for their patients like they are their own pets and they were absolutely phenomenal last night. I would highly recommend CARE to any pet parent that is experiencing an emergency and needs immediate care with an exceptional staff!

Brought Dakota my 12 year old lab to Care after having a new onset grand mal seizure. Although I had to wait in the car, I knew she was in good hands with Doctor Kelly Lang. Meds were prescribed and I was able to take Dakota home.Later that evening Dakota had another seizure.I called Care and was lucky to get Doctor Lang again who was still there doing charting. She was patient kind and informative.Dakota had a third seizure the next morning but it was shorter in duration. I called Care and through the wonderful work of Nicky, I got an appointment to see a neurologist that afternoon.Dr Wininger was wonderful. Patient and compassionate he answered all of my questions. It was nice that I was able to meet him in an office.A MRI of the brain with sedation was ordered for the next day. When I picked Dakota up 2 wonderful staff members brought her out in a wagon and put her in my car.The MRI showed a blood clot or stroke in her brain and more meds were prescribed. Dr Wininger called me with the results.Today Dakota had a follow up visit with Dr Wininger. Although he was busy with emergencies and they were short staffed due to Covid, Dr Wininger sat on the floor with Dakota andpatiently answered all my questions.Anna his assistant was fun to talk with.Dakota is doing great. I will always bring her to Care because they give her the best care! Thank you to everyone!

Care was absolutely amazing from start to finish. My little 3 ur old chihuahua had an eye cyst of some sort pop up so I rushed her to this clinic without calling ahead just hoping they could help. When I called they initially told me it would be a 6-8 hour wait, but still asked me the questions about my girl and put our info in the system. They said to wait a moment and they would call back. 10 minutes later they called back and updated me saying it would actually be a 1.5 hour wait and that I should stay and wait. I did, but they came out to get her within 20 minutes of the last phone call! The vet tech who met me at my car was very friendly and kind as well. I was so pleased! She was seen right away and I received another call shortly from the vet with more information and diagnosis. On top of treating her eye, they also performed other routine treatments that she was behind on. They were transparent with pricing and everything was phenomenal. My little girls eye is completely healed now! I will definitely come back to this clinic if I have to!

I will just sum this up by saying you will not find another facility in the area, the state and likely the country that will care for your pets at the highest level and with the most compassion possible. We are a family of rescues and with rescues come their history that now become your concern. Boo Boo is our 10yr old black lab mix who we adopted at 6 years old. We were referred to CARE from our vet when he began having excruciating pain in what we thought was his head. Here he met Dr. Fauber (Neurology) who recommended an MRI after X-rays determined something was happening on his neck, but it was unclear. We found he had a fully herniated disc in his neck. Surgery was scheduled for a couple days later and as a last ditch effort, Dr. Fauber sent us home with steroids to alleviate his pain in the interim. On the day of his surgery, after assessing him, Dr. Fauber determined, she believed the prednisone did its job and alleviated the swelling enough to settle the hernia. No surgery! Boo found himself back at CARE 3 more times. Two surgeries for foreign object extractions (hes a lab... he eats literally anything) and most recently a growth removal on his 3rd eyelid that came back as malignant melanoma. Dr. Broadwater (Ophthalmology) got it all! Clean margins and our buddy is cancer free.Dakota is our 6yr old female black lab who is the most perfect dog you will ever know. We adopted Dakota at approximately 2.5yrs old and heartworm positive. After 2 failed attempts to cure her of heartworms through the shelter and a former vet of ours, our vet encouraged us to give it one more try. They were going to make sure she was treated thoroughly and treated with pain meds to alleviate the discomfort. Unfortunately, Dakota had a terrifying response to all the doses she received, leaving her in excruciating pain and her breathing was labored. When she became unsteady on her feet and one of her pupils had blown, we took her to CARE where she was treated in the ICU for 4 days. Despite many inconclusive tests when she was first admitted to understand why her breathing was labored and she had appeared to have had a stroke, Dr. Sayer threw the book at her and never gave up until she got to the bottom of her failing body. Pulmonary Embolisms had developed resulting in her stroke and labored breathing. Treatments began immediately. I visited her two times a day and was able to see the progress she made with each day. The relief I felt when they called to tell me she was ready to go home was a 100lb weight coming off my chest. In closing, I would be remiss if I didnt mention the care, attention, and compassion we received when I brought my aging cat, Charlie, to CARE. Dr. Lock and Dr. Flood treated Charlie over the course of 5-6 months. They patiently walked us through every and any path we could take to treat his digestive problems. The concern was it could have been cancer, but to determine this would have been very invasive for him. We opted for the less invasive treatment, which (as we were warned) did help him very much, but eventually it didnt. This was a sign it was in fact cancer. In January of 2020, Charlies health was in such decline it would have been inhumane for us to put him through any further testing or treatments and we had to make the devastating decision to put him to sleep. Dr. Flood sat on the phone with me for more than a half hour walking me through her assessment of him, his condition and her medical advice. When we arrived to the clinic, they gave us our own room with Charlie and NEVER pressured us to move things along. They gave us all the space we needed to say our good-byes. Dr. Flood was the definition of compassionate.Needless to say, we have had plenty of experiences at CARE to have a good sense of the care your pet will receive. Six critical cases and countless visits and I have NEVER had a bad experience with the staff or doctors at CARE. There is no decision to make here, trust CARE with your pet.

We knew our dog was in bad shape when he was lethargic, weak, shallow breathing and wouldn’t eat. CARE pulled his chart over the phone and took him immediately as soon as we got there. They took emergencies very seriously and we were worried we would have to wait. We didn’t. They called us in less than an hour and shared our pup has a cancerous tumor that ruptured. They gave us all the time we needed to think about our options and answered any question they had with the deepest sympathy I wouldn’t have received anywhere else. Even while our pup was getting fluids before coming home to us to experience his last day, they let us sit with him. They gave us medicine to take home so he could be comfortable and eat all the food he wanted. When we brought him back the next day to put him to rest, we were given all the time to say our goodbyes and hold him as he was put to sleep. I have never experienced such sympathy and empathy, and I’m sure they do this so regularly, but we felt so loved. CARE truly made us feel like we gave our pup a proper goodbye. Thank you for taking care of us and our sweet dog.

In June 2021 we adopted a Great Pyrenees puppy. During her second night with us she managed to force her way out of her crate, but trapped her waist & back legs. She was unable to walk the next day, so we took her to an emergency vet. After 2 days there she showed little sign of improvement and we were told to find a Neurologist to possibly perform an MRI and treat our new puppy for spinal cord damage. We didnt have a Neurologist recommended to us but are SO happy we chose CARE in Charlotte. Every member of staff was friendly, polite & helpful and reassured that our pup was in the best hands. Nikki dealt with most of our calls and was the perfect contact, talking us through each step of what to expect, with nothing being too much trouble. After a checkup from the wonderful team, Dr Kowal came and spoke to us, confirming that not only would an MRI not be needed (saving us $ thousands when they could have easily charged us for an unnecessary procedure) but that they were satisfied our new girl would make a full recovery.A quick follow-up appointment a week later confirmed that she was coming on well and we got an all-clear. Weve had one or two questions since and nothing has been too much trouble for the team. Hopefully we wont need services like these again, but if we do then CARE Charlotte is the first place wed turn to.

The people at CARE are very friendly and have done a great job with our dog whenever we have had issues. Their pricing has always been steep but it is an emergency vet. We took our dog in recently and they still have not re-opened their waiting room. It was 91 degrees outside and we had to wait in our car for 3 hours between waiting for our dog to be seen and while he was being examined. We would have happily worn masks to be able to sit inside their waiting room. This is unacceptable it is still closed and people are expected to wait in their car for hours.

I cannot thank the surgical team and oncology team here enough. Our Great Dane, Kenzie, has been battling an osteosarcoma for several months with Dr Campbell in Oncology. Dr Campbell and her team have been so helpful with guidance and advice along the way.Two days ago, Kenzie had her right forelimb amputated. Yesterday when going to pick her up post-op, she collapsed in the parking lot and had a cardiac episode. The two techs who were brining her out, were absolutely PHENOMENAL with their rapid response and quick action to get her back inside to the ICU and treated promptly. They kept her another night for stabilization and monitoring and were so calming, communicative, and caring the entire time Kenzie was with them. Dr Dvorak did her procedure flawlessly and Dr Gunstra has been absolutely amazing on keeping us up to date and explaining everything to us each day.Upon picking her up today, techs Stephanie and Rick brought her out and loaded her into our car. They stayed outside for an ample amount of time confirming she was able to safely go home and that we were both well versed in signs/symptoms to keep an eye out for.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking such exceptional care of our baby girl and making sure she came back home to us. Thank you for ensuring we were comfortable and well informed through this tough journey. Your entire team is such a blessing to our family❤️-Kenzie Brown’s mom and dad

I had an amazing experience with Care charlotte. We had an emergency appointment as my dogs eye was extremely swollen and bloodshot. Our vet called them, and they fit us in that day. Within an hour they were able to tell us that our pup had a melanoma tumor in his eye. They scheduled him for an appointment a week out to have his eye removed. The surgery was successful! The vet got clean cuts and was able to remove the tumor completely. They also called to check up on Milo the next day, and were great at communicating. My dog is like a puppy again, completely healed and loving life (permanently winking at all the ladies). Everyone was so friendly from the receptionist ladies, vet and the whole ophthalmology team. This was back in April, when COVID restrictions were still in place. Communication was done over the phone, and drop offs in the parking lot. They were able to make the process seamless even during the restrictions. If youre a paranoid dog parent like me, they also have video tours on their youtube of what the facility looks like inside (reminds me of greys anatomy!) Cant thank you guys enough!

I cannot give enough positive feedback regarding my experiences here. The entire team cared for my dog and myself as though we were the most important thing they had to take care of that day. The team answering the phones took my concerns and request seriously and promptly got my call to the right person. After determining that my request was outside of normal they made sure to let me know that they would do everything the could to help me and my dog. Dr. Wininger spent significant time reviewing my dog’s case (which had been originally started at another specialty hospital) and helped me determine the best course of action to give him the best quality and length of life. This team took time out of their busy day saving lives to help me make the best decisions for my dog’s life. In this time when things seem harder than ever this wonderful team showed my dog and myself compassion. Dr. Wininger’s expertise were highly recommended by other veterinary professionals and his direction will help my boy live his best possible life. Thank you to everyone on the CARE team!

CARE is hands down the most amazing animal hospital there is! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. I would 100% recommend them to anyone with a sick pet. They were able to diagnose and effectively treat my dog Ozzie when there was little hope for her. Not only did they do a great job treating her, they also showed such a genuine care and concern for my dog - whom like most pet owners - I consider my best friend and family.About one year ago, my 10 year old lab mix became very sick. Within a few weeks she lost all her motor functions, stopped eating and drinking, was unable to even sit up, stand or move her paws by herself. I took her to numerous vets in the area...all were unable to explain the cause or help her pain. FINALLY, we were referred to CARE and they were able to pin point the cause...autoimmune encephalitis. Her body, for unknown reasons, was attacking her brain causing severe swelling. Although prognosis did not seem good due to the extent of the swelling, CARE walked me through every option with detail and kindness. Now, I am ecstatic to announce that after months of treatment, my dog Ozzie has made a full recovery!!!I cannot thank CARE enough. They are true professionals who care :)

They were incredibly compassionate the entire time and made a difficult time a little better. I just recieved a beautiful condolence card with a cute little paper heart inside. Oddly it says plant me on the back of the paper heart but no instructions as to if it actually grows into something. Our family vet was unable to diagnose the condition, so we were referred to CARE. CARE’s team rushed her inside and had multiple doctors and staff working on her at once. This is a serious disease that came out of nowhere and punched us in the gut. She needed five blood transfusions and over a month stay at Care Hospital during the height of Covid. We are forever grateful to Dr. Flood and her team for saving our dog. They spoke to us daily with updates and managed our expectations. Terrible and stressful experience from start to finish. A technician and the veterinarian kept constantly referring to my kitten as “he” after I had already established she was a female. Additionally, I was told three different prices for treatment, and after being told it would be $250, I was surprised by a grand total of $500, which didn’t align with the prices that were given to me by the veterinarian. Speaking about the veterinarian, during our conversation, she kept insisting my cat ingested marijuana (after I told her I wasn’t a smoker and that wasn’t present in the home) without doing any blood or urine analysis. I felt as if I was being profiled. When I wasn’t able to pay, she insensitively told me that I would have to “stop and put him down” if the symptoms hadn’t improved (she hadn’t been tested or diagnosed with any condition by this point). After all of this, I never received an invoice, patient visit form, or anything of the sort after my visit. I was charged $123 for the visit and bloodwork that wasn’t taken. If you can, PLEASE go to another facility. My kitten is doing just fine after her visit to a different vet. The veterinarian there thought it was strange that euthanizing her was even suggested.

Let me say, Ive not had to make use of an emergency veterinary hospital but once in 16 years with my little Pomeranian... But in the last two weeks we needed to 3 different times. The first two were at a very good place I wont mention, but we were referred to CARE Charlotte for their special programs, and now they will have lifelong business from us because they saved our dog! Hands down, these folks are professional and have empathy for your situation, are thoughtful and honest when they discuss whats going on with your pet. Theyll provide the highest level of care possible and even in the days of covid theyll let you visit your pet to encourage, feed, walk, and recover...After pancreatitis, my dog suffered a bout of what would be called Stevens Johnson syndrome in humans. She was broken out in splotches like hives, in pain from edema all over, and so sick and uncomfortable she couldnt be calmed. Nothing made sense, since she was perfectly fine recovering from pancreatitis a week before, then wham, some crazy combination of drugs or the carrier they were compounded in caused a violent systemic reaction in my 16 year old Pom.But we and they stuck it out with her for 4 days and today I picked her up and took her home. I couldnt be more happy with their care and assistance through this, and firmly believe my dog is alive only because of them. Thanks to everyone at CARE Charlotte!! The front desk folks who were so nice accommodating us over the weekend... The vet techs who always called and kept us updated every day... The doctors in the back who left no stone unturned to fix my furry friend... CARE is not only a great hospital for the care it delivers on a daily basis, more importantly the staff, vets, and surgical staff are the most comforting, loving group of professionals it has been my good fortune to know! I lost 2 of my fur babies within the last 4 years! One dog (Amy )to a blood disease, and the sweetest dog to ever grace my life, Cera. Both dogs were a struggle to keep alive for the last 30 days of their lives, the constant visits to the hospital in Ceras case usually resulted in giving her life rendering treatment, as in oxygen etc.on a weekly basis! This is a hospital that will care about your pet, but also makes sure the family has been updated beyond the normal/standard ways. No pressure was given for specific treatments that were costly, options were always viable, final decisions always left to the family. The grieving process when were they passed at the hospital was gracious, we were ushered into a family room that was private, our fur baby given to us swaddled in a soft blanket to say our goodbyes. Yes, it is so hard to say goodbye, yet, underneath it all you know they got the best medical attention you could have given them by bringing them to CARE.

His spleen was successfully removed by Dr. Dvorak and he was simultaneously given a transfusion due to his anemia. Dr. James updated us when the surgery began. After it was over, Dr. Dvorak called us saying Maddox had made it through and checked in with us each day to provide us with progress updates.Unfortunately, the biopsy confirmed our worst fears, Maddox had hemangiosarcoma, one of the most aggressive forms of canine cancers. Dr. Dvorak handed us off to Dr. Walters and her team in oncology to provide chemotherapy treatment. Dr. Walters continued to follow up with us after each visit until the treatments were no longer effective at stopping the metastasis.I have never experienced a veterinary team go above and beyond the way that the entire team at CARE Charlotte did. My husband and I are pleased to share our complete satisfaction with regard to the surgical care that our young Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Roma, was so fortunate to receive at CARE, but specifically as result of the exquisite surgical expertise of Dr. Elizabeth Thompson. Dr. Thompson apprised us of the risk and potential reward of surgery in addition to the long road of recovery which required our 24 hour attentive help for Roma. We are nearly done with our pup’s physical rehab which will coincidentally conclude the day before Romi’s second birthday. In retrospect, truly little was required of us as owners, parents, of this little soul with a tail. We simply were fortunate to find a superb and genuinely loving surgeon in Dr. Thompson, in addition to following her post surgical advice, with a dollop of good fortune. Dr. Lang and Dr. Thompson were quick to evaluate and diagnose and discuss surgery with us. We proceeded and found the surgery team to be extremely responsive to our questions and concerns post-op. I never felt rushed, pushed into something I wasnt comfortable with, or not given fully vetted options. Dr. Thompson went out of her way to come outside and discuss our dogs care with me following her two-week post-op, and didnt bat an eye at all of my questions. The billing process was very simple and the information shared via email all very helpful. We consider ourselves part of the CARE family now and wont hesitate to bring our dogs here in the future if any needs arise. We are grateful for the expertise and true care we found at CARE.

I’d give this hospital no stars if I could, I brought my dog in they had us wait in our car for almost two hours just to take us in, I think we were the only people their in the parking lot as well. they really need to take the “urgent care” out of they’re title, they were to focused on getting paid before they could do anything to help our dog, 1am and expect thousands of dollars on spot. terrible service, our dog died later that night highly not recommended hospital for your pets.

1.5 years ago we had to rush our 13 year old Yorkie to CARE. He had went into congestive heart failure. They kept him for about 36 hours and saved him. The were wonderful. This gave me another 1.5 years with our sweet baby boy. Unfortunately, old age finally won and our precious boy was leaving us. His departure had become painful so we went to CARE at 3:30am to make his journey peaceful. They were so nice to us and sympathetic. The room was private and nice- not a cold medical room. I was able to love on my sweet boy while they put him to sleep. I received this week a clay mold of his paw print with his name on it. They did a great job. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Pascarella and Emily took great care of my kitty Stevie when she got sick on a Sunday and couldnt see her regular vet. The curbside service was very efficient and I was kept up to date on my cats status the whole time. Im a veterinary technician myself so I have high expectations for how my pets are handled and CARE did not disappoint! This was not my first visit, I have taken my dog here in the past on an emergency basis and was very happy with their care of her at that time too. So much so that even though there is another 24hr vet closer to my home, I prefer to drive the extra distance here because I know this is where my babies will get the best treatment.

I can start by saying they have done as much as they can for my baby Bruno. He has been in and out of visits and emergency stays since December with Care. I understand this is an emergency hospital but they also provide ongoing services and I can say I have not been satisfied with the attention. They tell you to call with questions and concerns and it starts with awful customer service at the front who put you on hold most of the time and then the call drops and you have to keep calling until someone answers your call. You then ask to speak to a nurse and most of the time have to leave a VM and no one returns your call :/ when you are eventually able to talk to someone in Neurology regarding a concern, they tell you they will talk to the provider and get back with you and here we are 3 days later and still no one has called. This is the routine. There’s not many neuros for dogs in the area and I feel as if my dog only gets care when he is taken in as an emergency and even then you’re the one that has to call to follow up because no one gives you a follow up.

CARE is an excellent facility and our go to with our own dogs and foster Dachshunds who end up needing IVDD help. The neurological department at CARE is second to none. We have recently worked with Dr. Wininger on two surgeries with difficult backgrounds and both were successful. In both cases, the Dachshund had been paralyzed for about 2 weeks before getting into surgery. One is walking almost completely normally again about a year later. The other is only two weeks out from his surgery right now but already taking meaningful steps. The staff here is amazing. We encourage people from much further away than Charlotte to consider having needed spinal surgeries done at CARE if they can. The neurological department really is second to none.

Worst experience ever. The receptionists will always put you on hold & hard to actually speak to someone. First time I held for 10 min and then someone hung up on me. Then everytime I called back another receptionist would say “thanks for calling is this a medical emergency or can I put you on hold” and I held for 10 minutes again, then it went to voicemail. Last time I called back held for another 10 minutes. I just wanted to pick up my dog from surgery at this point. The surgeon was nice at least so she was helpful in answering questions and leaving detailed voicemail so there’s the one star. At the beginning of this “amazing” journey I called to schedule an appointment with the customer service manager/scheduler for the surgery she basically said it wasn’t an emergency and booked a consultation for the end of March. While my dog is bleeding daily and needed surgery ASAP w a specialist. Luckily the surgeon took a look at the vet notes and had her call back to schedule the appointment ASAP. I will never go here again, unfortunately it was a surgery that required the specialist so I had to go here - but at least I got to experience the place with the worst front desk customer service ever!

We brought our 1 yr 9 mo French Bulldog to CAREs ER in early March 2021 after she had been hospitalized the week before in another ER where we live in California that identified her as having some type of liver damage from an unknown cause. When we first brought our dog to CARE, I was only supposed to be on the east coast for a few days for a funeral and ended up staying almost a month to carry out the treatment Cricket needed, and this is all because I was so blown away by the vets and staff at CARE. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful for them!My dogs liver enzyme levels and Bilirubin were severely high and she was in really bad shape. The Internal Medicine team at CARE, specifically Dr. Katie Lock, jumped into action with compassion and confidence! When our dog was discharged, we joked that we knew that Cricket had been given lots of love and hugs while she was hospitalized at CARE because she smelled like what I think was Chanel perfume (which I personally love)!Prior to going to CARE, my pup had been hospitalized a week earlier in another ER hospital, and the staff was extremely cold and uncomforting, and the difference when coming to CARE was glaring - they were all so amazing! I cannot explain how thankful I am for not only the amazing care that was given to my dog, but the enormous amount of comfort that I felt from everyone at CARE - from the front office staff checking us in & out, the nurses answering our calls to check up on our girl while she was hospitalized for 4 days, and the vets who saved my girls life.I dont live in NC, not even on the east coast, but I would consider flying back solely to have done at CARE any serious procedures or treatment my girl may need in the future because of the trust theyve instilled in me. Thank you!!

While our end result was heartbreaking and not at all what we wanted, Dr. Flood and her team did an amazing job of caring of our sweet boy and providing us with the information and help in making a decision that we just couldn’t do on our own. Even while we were putting him to sleep we could tell the care and compassion that Dr. Flood had for our sweet Yogi. Everyone from the techs to Dr. Flood herself showed so much compassion and did an amazing job of communicating with us during a multi day process. Obviously I wish we never had to come here as that would mean my boy was healthy and he would still be with us, but I can confidently say the team here was willing to do whatever it took to save him and when they saw that that could not happen they did everything they could to keep him comfortable and to give us the time we needed until we were ready to say goodbye. This is NOT what curbside service is supposed to look like, its not supposed to be an excuse for terrible service! My dog woke up whining and walking funny and I went to CARE immediately. They forced me to wait outside on hold for over half an hour, absolutely no concern for me or my dogs well-being. I was there at a really slow time, too! My dog could have been dying and no one cared. I got fed up and was freaking out about my babys health so I googled other 24/7 animal clinics, and I went around the corner to Animal Medical Hospital and got helped IMMEDIATELY and for MUCH cheaper than CARE charges. I took my Terrier mix dog for treatment to CARE today in Charlotte NC.Dr. Pitillo evaluated my dog. My dog had a stroke in the summer of 2020, she is 3 years old. Today my dog had stroke symptoms, worsening head tilt, ataxia, weakness, bending her body into a circle and trying to walk that way.I wanted her to be evaluated for a stroke. The vet felt my dog was stable and could be discharged to home. She offered to keep my dog there and observe her and maybe admit her to neurology tomorrow. She went on to say that she might not get an MRI or CT. I took her home because I was scared to leave her in the care of Dr. Pittillo. My dog did not have bloodwork done. Other illnesses can present like a stroke, encephalitis, brain tumor, seizures. I felt my dog should have had a more thoroughexamination. The care my dog received in the Summer of 2020 was excellent, all of the staff was very concerned and evaluated her thoroughly. CARE diagnosed her with a stroke in the Summer of 2020Dr. Fauber called me on February 1st. regarding my 3 year old Terrier mix dog. Dr. Fauber scheduled a neurology appointment for Jellybean to see her for a health assessment and come up with a plan on how and when to proceed with further treatment if any further treatment is indicated.I was very concerned about Jellybean given her history of stroke. I feel very comfortable knowing that Jellybean will receive excellent care and I am confident that Jellybean will get the best care possible.Thank you to Dr. Fauber to follow up with me after the ER visit for Jellybean on Jan. 30th.I did not mention in my last post regarding the Jan. 30th visit that the Vet Tech that took care of Jellybean was extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful regarding Jellybeans state of health. She educated us on how to proceed to receive the care I would like Jellybean to have at CARE. She was in so much pain and they were so good about it. Upon arrival they put us in our own room and we were seen by the vet within 10 minutes. They gave us our own “comfort room” thereafter with couches and cozy lighting to sit with her. They made sure she was relaxed and as comfortable as she could be. we had a bell to ring when we were ready for the vet to come back in. She explained the end of life care and procedure and we were all able to be there with her for it. We sat in the comfort room and watched her finally peacefully fall asleep. The vet showed us a separate exit when we were ready to leave. Beverages and snacks were available in the lobby for free and the cost was 135$ for the visit and the full end of life care. My family got to be with her until her last breath and the vet was so understanding and everyone there was so kind. This is the place to go at least for end of life care.

The vet techs that come out to the cars are great and I spoke directly on the phone to each doctor and the surgeon (Dr. Thompson) that cared for my baby. I have never done this before. (5 stars to 2)But I have drastically altered my review of this company.About 3 1/2 weeks ago our dog, our beloved golden retriever had surgery on her shoulders. Her initial surgery was to be the Friday before Christmas week. We delivered her promptly at the appointed time, 7:00 am. At 2:30 pm, I was called while working, and advised that the surgery had to be cancelled that day....... because of numerous emergencies. “Could I come and get her?.....”she said sweetly; we had a nice discussion; then she said, “ it has been rescheduled for Wednesday”) ( the day before Christmas Eve ); .....Then she said “ we did do her blood work”but....” I will not MAKE you pay that today”( they already had a huge deposit). After basically begging, it was agreed that the surgery would happen Monday, not Wednesday. The surgery occurred and I picked her up on Tuesday; in hindsight, as explained below, disaster waited around the corner. Each surgery site ( consisting of 2 stitched openings about 2” apart) has a 4” x 3”bad aid. No other cover...... nothing.Nothing was said about wound care; nothing in the literature I was given; The nice guy who brought her out to me ( COVID, restrictions), clearly overwhelmed delivered her to me and went back inside.Basically, the bandage was ( in my opinion, and the vet I had to take her to on an emergency basis else where) too small, not fastened properly and stunningly ill suited to be the sole covering. Post surgery, bleeding and drainage had saturated the too small bandage, it fell off,....hence the emergency visit to a different vet for a new bandage; thereafter a week of wound care, changing bandages. Finally our baby saw Dr who did the surgery( infection;gave me antibiotic.) I spoke to her by Phone( COVID, again). I explained what happened, and GOD FORBID, expressed my opinion about, wound care advice( zip!); what other vet said( “ post op single bandaid was “______”); disappointment about surgery site was now infected. Her reaction was neither apologetic nor reflective ( maybe the bandage WAS too small.....). Oh, no. All my fault, my wound care and bandage was too tight. ( not true; but I was not going to argue with her, by phone(?); why?)Her attitude, tone and lecturing speech indicated, SHE MADE NO MISTAKES.).I love being talked to like I am 3 years old. ( not at 60) ( 5th golden in 30 years)I have been a Google reviewer for many years. I try my best to give good reviews. But I will not return to this place. Greed, has swamped their good judgement. It’s a cattle call not a vet hospital. It’s to be avoided at all costs. They may have a cute web site, lots of cute pics and smiling people, ..... but look in the background of some of the pics and you will see rows of dogs in cages, parked like airplanes; Maybe they need the $$; big hospital = big operating expenses; Not with my dog; ever again.

Dr. Davis was the ER doc that examined him first and let me know he needed to see Neurology. Dr. Kowal, a Neuro resident, was my next call letting me know he agreed with what Dr. Davis had discussed with me, and then it was on to MRI and surgery for a herniated disc. Needless to say, I was an emotional wreck, but Dr. Kowal was very calm and informative and answered all my questions. He was great! They told me how they would love on him and wrapped him in a blanket. That gave me so much peace of mind and comfort knowing he was not only being taken care of, but he was getting loved too! They said no problem someone would be out shortly. 10 minutes passed and nobody came out. Front receptionist came out to help another customer who had just arrived and ran inside instead of calling (against procedures). When she escorted them back outside and assist them I called to her and asked her when we will be helped. She acted as though she wasnt aware that we called. She went back inside for at least 5 minutes before I gave up and called the Animal Medical Hospital down the road and after I got off the phone with them that is when a nurse came out. The reasoning I was given was because there were other animals with higher degree of emergency that needed attention before mine, not that they were not aware that I called. The lack of internal communication is apparent and if thats the case with simply receiving emergency appointments then I did not feel comfortable leaving my cat in their care.Animal Medical Hospital picked up my cat from my car in less than a minute of me arriving.

I was trying to schedule an 8:30 am appointment with the surgeon which I had been told by the front desk was available. This experience of such a disorganized front desk made me change my mind about dealing with this practice and left me with questions about the attention and level of care my dog might get there. We are going elsewhere.
