My son has had a great experience at Sylvan. His reading ability has improved, but more importantly his confidence with academics has improved.

My 1st grader has been attending Sylvan for only a few weeks now but I can already see a difference in his reading fluency, reading comprehension and confidence level. When it comes to learning he loves all things STEM but that meant that he was not very happy or confident with subjects like ELA, Reading and Phonics. But his confidence had boosted since we started working with Sylvan and his skills are building in those areas. I’m happy! They are also very professional and willing to help. Rachel is great with communicating and answering my questions!

My son has very low self confidence in new situations and in regards to school. We came in for an evaluation and to begin tutoring. He hates going to school. So when I tell you I was SHOCKED that he WANTED to come to tutoring on his first day after only going to the evaluation. I mean it. Sylvan Learning provides great tutoring services. The staff is very kind and sincere which makes the place very welcoming. Everyone is great, especially Alejandra who really cares that the kids have a deep understanding of the material.

In August of this year, I started working as a tutor with Sylvan and have loved the experience. Staff members are very friendly and always willing to lend a hand to fellow staff or students. The curriculum really is designed to meet the students where they are in their learning experience, and there are plenty of supplemental tools on hand to provide additional support if needed. My daughter has been coming to Sylvan in Ballantyne for several months now. We started out over the summer with a fairly aggressive schedule to help prepare her for starting high school in the fall. Because of her program, both her and I felt more at ease and ready for the transition. Now with school sports she isnt able to come as frequently as before, but still attends for homework support. We look forward to intensifying the program again next summer and soon after beginning to prepare for the SAT or ACT. A great place for learning! Management is kind and communicative and tutors care about their students and get to know them personally so the students know there is someone who cares about their progress and learning.

The staff at Sylvan are extremely helpful and truly care about each child’s success. My daughter loves attending each session and has shown great improvement in her grades. I can’t say enough great things about this place. I’m so glad we choose Sylvan to help our young one learn and grow.

I still recollect when I called them and wished if my 9 yr old can start stat. From the main office I was recommended Ballantyne location for Sylvan Learning Center. I met with Jodi Malone, the Director then, an amazing lady who was eager to train my child in areas where it needed supplemental enrichment. They custom fit a plan that best fits each student according to their learning needs. Brandi Carpenter and Sharon Montante have been so committed since day 1 and the results are priceless! Since then my son has made big strides with his progress in school and in general. His grades; surged, his attention span; widened and his comprehension level has risen. It’s been 3 years already and I wish to continue it. If it wasn’t for Sylvan, my son’s academic progress would have been stalled profoundly.

I like this place, because it teaches my kid to do math and English and more. Its not boring like those other tutors. Everyone is fun and energetic. Thank you so much

Sylvan has been a positive experience for my children. I’m impressed with Sylvan’s individualized approach and I am already seeing an improvement with their skills. All I can say is that my son was accepted into EVERY college to which he applied! This was only after taking the SAT/ACT prep course at Sylvan. When he began his SAT scores were low and did not reflect his class rank and GPA. Jodi and her team at Sylvan tested him to determine which test he performed best at, and prepared him to take the SAT. Not only were his new scores remarkable, he was accepted into competitive SC schools like Clemson and Furman University. He has so many choices he cannot decide where to go! We appreciate all the hard work and guidance given to him by the Sylvan team, and I look forward to the opportunity for my daughter to begin the course this summer!

Since starting at Sylvan, the director Rachel has been very helpful and welcoming. My first week she showed me “the ropes” and made sure I felt comfortable. Also the teachers and the other director, Brandy, were actually pretty helpful and encouraging for when I didn’t understand something. The other students also were very nice and I met some new friends. I’m only 14 but I can understand and appreciate that Sylvan Learning of Charlotte and Ballentyne is a fine establishment.

All the instructions are warm and helpful. The management LADYS take every opportunity to explain how your student is being help by the teacher. They sit down and evaluate your Childs progress and Goals to complete your objectives.I have been very impressed with my Sons progress over this year he has been attending.

Sylvan is a amazing place it has helped my kid out a ton in math and ELA. Also the teachers are very helpful and their is a max of 4 kids per table. This place offers writing, math, language arts, and SAT/ACT prep. I would recommend this to everyone!!!

All 3 of my kids have been enrolled in Sylvan. The one in Ballantyne is in a nice location. The director, Jodi, is very helpful and knowledgeable. My child loves learning there. Sylvan has a method of teaching which works. They are great advocates for your child. It is pricey but worth the money.

Moving to the area we wanted our daughter to be as strong in reading and math as possible when school started this fall. We did an entire summer program. Even though it was a long drive each way, my daughter enjoyed her time there. The teachers and staff made it a fun learning experience that she actually looked forward to each day while she learned. We have been attending Sylvan since the beginning of the year for reading. In a short period of time, our daughter’s confidence has increased dramatically and her reading has improved greatly. We will attending until early May, and we are so excited to see how she will progress. She loves it and looks forward to every session. If we had to do this all over again, we absolutely would! My daughter has been going to sylvan learning for 4 years and she loves the great tutors and activities that they provide her! She now is in 6th grade and is a straight-A student! I am glad that she is enjoying the environment of learning.

We have to say our experience from the beginning has been very warm. Jody and Brandi do a wonderful job leading the center! Our 3 sons have really enjoyed working with the tutors helping each of them with very specific areas needing additional instruction. We came from another learning center and we realized quickly the more one to one connection is what our boys needed. They also work directly with the school and teachers to better align what the students are working on and where they could benefit from further enrichment.

Sylvan learning Ballantyne has been a godsend. My first grader was struggling with reading and he has made great strides in just a few short weeks. He looks forward to going to his sessions and is taking the initiative to read at home, where before he showed no interest. Thank you Sylvan!

I simply love it there! They bind together technology and learning together which helps me with a good mindset in learning environment! They give out prizes and they give you tokens.

We found the staff very courteous at Ballantyne center but the learning experience was very mediocre. Here is our impression:1) The teacher turnover was high. Some Math teachers did not even know basics of Algebra-I2) Sylvan folks claim that the scores go up over 100 points after the course. However what they do is give a test at beginning and then give the same test again after a month. Since students already know the answers, they do better. Not sure whether to call it tricking or cheating.3) I recommend this only for those who want to increase their course from 1400 to say 1600. Those who aim higher than 1800, should look somewhere else.4) They claim to have lot of online material but they only have 4 tests and some videos. Nothing much to practice.5) It is open only 4 days a week so offers little time flexibility.Our impression is that this is not worth spending 700-800+ dollars. Does not help.

My daughter has been going to Sylvan for tutoring in Math and we have had a great experience. She has really gained confidence and there is evident improvement in her grades! She almost always comes out energized and smiling after a session. Jodi and Valerie have been most helpful, always taking the time to answer my questions and allowing for flexibility with scheduling. They also make an effort to establish rapport with the students and also encourage them. I would recommend Sylvan to anyone needing extra academic support!

They motivate kids to learn and focus on the specific areas for which kids need extra attention. The kids enjoy themselves and the one-on-one attention makes the difference.

Our son has had a wonderful experience with Sylvan. He enjoys coming for his tutoring sessions and has really made progress towards his goals. He was almost a full year behind in reading comprehension, but we expect he will have completely caught up to his peers soon. The staff here has been very kind and easy to work with, its obvious they care.

I joined Sylvan Ballantyne at the start of 11th grade for ACT and SAT preparations so I could get ready for applications season. Looking back I believe this to be one of the best decisions I made in high school since my ACT score went from a 28 to a 33 in the span of a year. Now, before Sylvan I had tried many places like C2 education but I felt like I was being ripped off. But since the day I joined Sylvan, Brandi Carpenter and the rest of the staff was extremely helpful and gave me a family like experience. Due to joining Sylvan I was accepted into a good university and will be moving on to college with everything I was able to learn. Thus, my parents have also enrolled my younger brother there, who is in middle school, for their high school and ACT/SAT preparation program.

My grandchildren have been going to Sylvan for a couple months and I can see a marked improvement. I would recommend.

My daughter has been attending Sylvan for upper level math homework support, and for the first time since entering high school is coming home saying she understands what she is working on!! During a conference with Mr. Adam, we were asked if my daughter had a preference for any particular tutor, and since then he has made sure that my daughter works with that tutor only. Both Ms. Jodi and Mr. Adam have been very accommodating by providing a tutor’s schedule ahead of time, so that we can plan our days around their schedule. Sylvan has made a huge difference with my daughter who has gained so much self confidence since starting at Sylvan!

I cant say enough about this place. This place is wonderful! My son attended Sylvan this past summer after not having any luck with his math tutor or with his math teacher during the past school year. He went through his testing session with Sylvan and they were able to correctly identify where he needed help. Since he has started his high school, he has had nothing but 100s in his class and his confidence in his math skills has gone through the roof. Thank you for all you do!

Once you get in you must get some perfect experience for what you want. My two kids really enjoy to learn in there with them. The educational system is so solid and personal!

We have been having a great experience so far with Sylvan. My daughter started in Aug/Sept 2014. We have started to see some Improvement with Abby. She seems to be getting it a little quicker now and her vocabulary has expanded as well. She seems more confident. Even though it is a lot of additional reading, Abby never complains or gives me a hard time about Sylvan. The last tutor we had came to school and pulled her out of class. Abby hated that. She is much more positive about getting the help she needs and I think she is finally seeing the pay off. My son has been going to Sylvan for about a year for both reading and math. Nicholas has shown great improvement in his comprehension and more importantly increased his confidence in his ability. Jodi and Valerie are great to work with, very supportive and always accommodating with my crazy schedule. They both genuinely care about the kids and want to see them be successful.

My daughter was not feeling very confident in her Algebra 1 class this year but after a few sessions at Sylvan her confidence grew and she began to trust her abilities more. Sylvan was able to give her that little push she needed to get her grade up and keep it up. Jodi and Valerie were always very accessible and professional and really seem to know all their students and families.

Flexible scheduling and pricing.

Our daughter has only been at Sylvan for about a month or so and were already seeing improvement in her test scores at school. She scored an 82 on a reading comprehension test a few months ago, which prompted us to enroll her at Sylvan and just this past week she took another test, similar to the first one, and scored an 89, the second highest score in the class!!!!We like the staff and the locations convenience. We plan to keep her enrolled through the summer so she can continue improving and preparing for next school year.

Sylvan was the best decision I took for my daughters tutoring needs. The curriculum has helped her, boost her skills and confidence, within a very few sessions. I am very happy Center Staff as well. They are a perfect balance between friendliness and professionalism. While tutoring and academic achievement is important to us, what was more important is for my kid to be happy and with Sylvan , I donot have to make her go there, she wants to....

I am a second time user for the Ballantyne site. I saw such an improvement in the reading skills of my oldest grand daughter that I decided to enroll my second grand daughter. I was amazed to hear my grand daughter pronounce words that I thought she would not be able to. The staff is very professional, and they provide an atmosphere that is conducive for learning.

I am very pleased with Sylvan Ballantyne. My sons math proficiency has improved dramatically. I like that the instruction comes from a qualified teacher not an honor student. It is not the least expensive option but I find that their monthly student progress review very helpful to keep tabs on the return for my investment. I cannot imagine it is logistically the easiest for them to schedule these reviews monthly. They really go the extra mile in customer service

Our kids (1st and 3rd grades) LOVE going to Sylvan!!! They adore the teachers and look forward to getting tokens that they can trade in for prizes. They have a fantastic reading/writing program, customized to the individual childs grade and reading level, that prepares them for standardized testing and boosts comprehension. Just the assessment alone is worth it, to see where your child is currently at and what areas they may need more focused learning.

I took my daughter to this Sylvan location as we recently moved to the area a month ago. At first, I was very impressed how caring and professional the staff was. My wife and I took our child to improve her language skills. One of the directors - Mr. Adam Kanonczyk has offered great insights and advice to us. My oldest grandson needed some extra help in reading and written expression when he started the Fourth grade. My daughter, his mother, had gone to Sylvan, after a poor start her freshman year in college. She attended a Study Skills program at Sylvan her second semester in college, made the Deans list and graduated in 4 years. She is now a Registered Nurse, passed the Nursing Boards the first time and always says that she was so successful in her Nursing Program because of the Study Skills she learned from Sylvan.Her son loves Sylvan, especially when he received the Most Improved Reader of the year, from his teacher. Not only did he improve his grades in school, he also became a better Baseball Player! What a plus for him, his team and his Coach!

I want to first say that Sylvan has a name for itself, when you think of sylvan you think of a professional company that is knowledgeable and care about their customers. I called in today and I had a really bad experience with sylvan. My son had an assessment done couple weeks ago ( which i paid for )and ALL i I wanted to do was get the number to the center located in Ballatyne in Charlotte Nc so I can all and get the results for a test in which I paid for. The fist lady in which I spoke to her name is Madison she was no assistance at all then when I asked for a manager thinking they should be some assistance she started huffing and puffing and immediately got an attitude. That was not appreciated AT ALL..Then she got back on the phone and said that her manager was to busy. but then 10 seconds later the manager got on the phone. i find that rude and disrespectful. I am seeking some assistance in getting this issue resolved.

Sylvan Ballantyne is held in a wonderful facility and is a great place to tutor. The programs are differentiated to meet each childs individual needs so it is easy to see how much each student grows, not only academically, but in their motivation and confidence as well.
