I requested a tow truck online, received a text that my request was received. After 30 minutes and not hearing from AAA I called was on hold for 12 minutes before speaking with a person and then put on hold for another 10 minutes before I hung up. I called a local tow truck and paid $100 out of pocket. I understand there will be a wait time but not being updated is unacceptable.

Romeo Gamarra was awesome. Helped change my spare on the side of 77 N. The high volume of traffic made me nervous but he called to check in and it kept me calm until he arrived. Changed my spare efficiently and gave some great advice and recommendations on the next steps to take.

AAA Carolinas offers an Auto Buying service that provides a fair price (Kelly Blue Book trade-in value) when selling your car. The service will have all have all paperwork ready for signature to quickly complete the process. I used this service and found it to be excellent. Highly recommend it, and I will be back to use the other part of the service, to buy a car through them. Beats going to a dealership!

Called and no one showed up for over two hours. Saw service car drive down the wrong road and ran after it. Pulled away without looking in a residential neighborhood. In over ten years of having AAA I have never had such poor service for such a simple task.

Purchased a Roadside Assistance Plus plan and, like others, was underwhelmed by the lack of response on the membership assistance line. The computer generated music was soothing for the first several minutes, but after 40 minutes I felt like I was in a North Korean prisoner of war camp.I wonder how much business they’re losing to competitors because of a faulty business model regarding their customer interface?

Don’t waste your money. Called for a dead battery while 400 miles from home, waited 2 hours and never heard anything. Finally called a towing company ourselves and they were there in less than 30 minutes. Tow driver says no one will contract with AAA because they don’t pay enough to cover their labor and equipment.

TOTAL RIP-OFF,, I bought this policy for my daughter and myself months ago,, I purchased a vehicle and on the way home I broke down and needed a tow home!! so i called AAA and it took forever to get an actual person on the phone,,, like 6 different calls and hitting different extensions and waiting 15 mins,, well finally I get and actual person on the phone spend another 15 mins giving them all the information,, then she says we cant tow this under your membership because the tag in not registered to you,,, i told her duh!! but Im holding the title and I purchased it and it belongs to me--- then I reminded her when I bought the AAA membership it said it covered any vehicle I owned!!! and I explained once again to her I have the signed title in hand and I own it!! they reused to tow my truck and I demanded my money back.. these people are a RIP-OFF dont even waste your time or money with them!!

Ridiculous service!!! My husband’s car had a flat tire that came completely off the rim. Car did not have a spare. Called AAA for service. Our membership had run out so I had to renew just get “emergency” roadside assistance. If you want to speak to roadside assistance you will put on hold. For a long time. Like 45 minutes!!!! said they would flag it red for emergency because it was on the side of a very busy interstate. This has been an almost 3 hour process. I.am.LIVID!!!!!!!!!!! You want to call and buy a membership you get an answer almost right away. Call for roadside assistance (which is partly why the exist!) forget about it!!!!!! They will be getting a call from me tomorrow... we had to call someone else out for a tow. 😡 😡😡 if I could have done 0 stars I would have!!!! Don’t buy a membership here!!! It’s just not worth the headache!!!!!

We had a flat tire on the rental car while we were on the way to the airport. Called AAA and was told we were put on the priority list and someone would be there in 30 minutes or less. After an hour we still had no help on the way. We called back and was then told that they could not have someone there for at least two more hours and that we should look on our own to find help. We ended up missing our flight we had to book another flight luckily we were able to get one the same day. This was absolutely the worst service that I could imagine

Terrible AAA experience— I broke down headed from Charlotte to Winston-Salem, NC at 5pm on a Thursday evening. I broke down on the side of a very busy 5-lane highway (I-85) at a very dangerous place on the interstate and immediately called roadside assistance. The two agents I first spoke with were lacking good customer service and were very unhelpful. I was first told someone would pick me up within 45 minutes. When that window of time passed, I called for an update and was told it would be an additional 1 hour and 20 minutes. At this point I had missed the event I was headed to. When 1 hour and 20 minutes passed I had to call for an update and was told it would be another 1 hour and 20 minutes until someone would pick me up. I had to call for updates and I waited for well over 3 hours in a dangerous location on a busy interstate. The driver that finally came was very kind and apologetic and informed me that he didn’t get the dispatch call to come until 20 minutes prior to picking up the car. I had one supervisor who was kind and called to profusely apologize and offered to help in any way she could to be of service to make the situation right yet when I called this morning (two days later) in need of towing the car to another dealership because the one it was taken to had a COVID shut down, the agent (Carolyn I believe) told me they could not help me—I had already used up my tows. Very disappointed.

This was the worst experience ever!! My two girls 19 & 13 were left on the side of the road for 2 hours before AAA showed up to not resolve the issue. I ended up calling roadside assistance just to get a blind transfer to someone who didn’t even give me their name and on top of that was condescending and hesitant to help. Finally he decided to send the repair guy back out as if he was doing us a favor to fix the issue that the first one didn’t! I must say I am extremely disappointed but thankful at the same time that no harm came to my two daughters after waiting over two hours at night while they attempt to do what should have been done to begin with! I don’t think I will be renewing my membership after being a member since 2009!

I’m sitting on I20 with a blown out tire right now. I called AAA nearly 2 hours ago. They told me the tow/tire company would be to me in 45 mins. If the truck was not here in 45 mins they would call. They didn’t call. I had to call them back. They put me on hold for 25 mins and finally told me they couldn’t get in touch with Slater Tire Company so they just called another couple who they told me would be here in another hour. Now, after reading the Yelp reviews of Slater Tire Company, I’m glad they didn’t respond. Slater is a shady, dirty racket. Why would AAA have this company as a primary responder for their members? Do they not know the reputation of their service providers? Do they not care? Either way, it’s deplorable how non responsive AAA has been on the last 3 calls we have had to make to them. I will not be renewing. I will purchase Road Side Assistance from someone else. Triple AAA of the Carolinas is a waste of money. Zero value. No benefit at all. Just terrible.

I signed up because I dont want to sit alongside the road broken down with an 8 year old. Read the FINE PRINT. Not only do they only allow 4 tows (which count as your roadside service) per year, due to COVID-19 the person who is broken down has to arrange a ride home while car is being towed. If Im going to wait for my husband to come get me, then Im going to wait for my husband to fix the car...They used to be worth the money.Not anymore...

Locked keys in car. Made the call at 0800 and set it up. Fisher Towing was here within 20 minutes and unlocked my old Chevy truck within 5 minutes, .more like 2. Great calling as they were en route. This one call was worth the membership. Friendly service and and good experience.

I made appointment for someone to come jump my car because Im stranded in uptown Charlotte instead of the tech calling me when he got here he just drove pass and marked the job as completed so now I have to wait another hour on topthe hour I’ve already been waiting, for someone else to come out to jump me because I tried to call the 1800 number to have the same guy to come back because he wasn’t to far but now I’ve been hold on her call for the pass almost 25 minutes trying to get a hold of anyone. Honestly this by far the worst service especially a company that is suppose to assist

RUDELACK OF COMMUNICATIONOVER PRICEDI’m almost 50 years old and this is the WORST insurance company I have ever had to deal with! My rate went up almost $70 a month after being a customer for almost 10 years. Nobody could tell me why it went up. I hadn’t had any accidents or tickets of any kind. They weren’t able to answer my question so I found insurance for a better policy and over $100 less a month. I filed the appropriate paperwork, paid the foolish early termination fee and I was told by two different associates (one over the phone and one face to face) that my payment that came out of my account after I had already told them to cancel would be refunded to me. When I called today to ask about the refund because they took the fee out, I was told it is what it is and that my May payment was for April which I say is BS because you always have to pay the first month before service begins.

Couldnt start my car, AAA battery service came out and installed a new one. A few weeks later, same issue. Managed to get it started and to the dealership, where I learned that the new battery didnt have the ground wire secured. $150 out of pocket, and of course AAA wont cover it because they insist that you start with them (even though they did it wrong the first time.) Makes me wonder if I even needed a new battery the first time. The quality and service have really declined.

Okay let me share my thoughts with you about having a roadside break down services for you and your family and friends.Our driving experience are very important to us and I hope that everything goes smoothly with my vehicle when I am traveling anywhere period.But when my vehicle has roadside emergency I dont panic or get to much concerned because I am a proud owner of roadside membership in AAA of NORTH CAROLINA since 1997..I will say that 7p until Covid 19 this year had created challenges for everyone.Covid has changed the content of how we use the the necessary information and business information we face goingforward.AAA has pretty much been a auto life line for myself and family when you need must have roadside emergency services.Covid has changed how AAA is currently operating in this pandemic system and has been unable to provide the same quality services for roadside break down, emergency services for the customers.Those us whom chose AAA roadside membership services those days of ride with driver’s are gone. Okay what yes no longer will you be allowed to go back to anywhere else with your vehicle while he or she tows your car away from the side of the road or intrastate you will have to find a way home at your own expense.When you call AAA be prepared for the interrogatory Covid protection process from roadside customers services.Youre stuck on the dangerous highway and you are not wanting a pandemic procol for getting yourself and your family safe.All the questions related to Covid isnt usually desering for me but when I am traveling anywhere I go knowing that we are not in our best situation right now because of Covid. I dont necessarily want a lesson on myself and family status of if we are carrying the virus or have been infected or been in contact with anyone with this terrible virus.Including the person who will come and help us by changing the tire on the vehicle or tow the car or truck.Business is not currently working as unsafe.Please believe me when I say that Im sorry for the families that have been effected tragedies of this pandemic our prayers 🙏 for healing and blessing. Going forward.AAA North Carolina Rules of Covid I totally understand what you are saying about staying safe.Ocourse this is not currently not unhealthy. But please meet me in the middle of sharing the cost of myself and family stuck in middle of nowhere and you cant even provide us with a ride with the drivers. First, I would like to say that I am not one to usually make complaints. I know things happen and everything cannot be perfect all the time. But I feel like my most recent experience with AAA Travel Agency was more than unacceptable and someone should know what I went through.I went through a local branch that I had worked with previously to book a trip to Maui for a friend’s wedding. In hindsight, I would have been much better off to have just used my friend’s travel agent, but I chose to see what AAA could do for me. My local agent found me a hotel within a mile of my friend’s resort and was able to book it and the flight. I was thrilled that she was able to save me some money and extremely excited about the trip since I had never been to Hawaii before.This was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime!! I waited months and months, spent thousands of dollars, and was so excited. And now…I’m so disappointed in myself for choosing to go through AAA in the first place. This could have been a much different experience if I hadn’t. When people ask you about your trip to Maui, you should be able to talk about how amazing it was. I can’t do that.I did do what I could to make the best of it, but it was pretty miserable. They booked me in a hotel that did not offer air conditioning. No AC in the tropics!! Also the shuttle I was booked to my hotel...last one of the day and it was overbooked so I had to pay for a 45 min cab ride to my hotel. The second time alone that I called back into AAA to try to rectify the situation, I was on hold/phone for 3 hours. 3 hours! A great chunk of daytime that I was supposed to be enjoying Hawaii. I finally had to give up. I couldn’t spend anymore of the time I had there dealing with the lack of customer service. The last email I got from my agent was that she was trying to find an alternative. Then...nothing. I was left to just deal with it. No offer to help cover the extra expense of changing hotels or reimbursement for the shuttle I couldnt use or, now, the car I had to rent because I couldnt confirm my ride back to the airport (they dont even know about this because I havent heard back from them).As I previously stated, I know things can happen. But this experience was awful. I have used AAA before and had planned to continue to do so for a cruise next year and a trip to Scotland with 3 other people. But how can I trust that you guys will stand behind your trips and take care of me as a customer?

Need to hire some people, so you don’t leave “paying” customers stranded in 96 degree weather for a estimated 3 hours…. Called another tow company and waited 15 minutes…cancelling my membership. You all are useless. If your thinking of getting AAA, DON’T!!! Unless you like sitting in a broke down car in 96 degree heat. Inexcusable!

Before I started to write this review I literally see the exact reason another customer below me cancelled their policy for the same reason as I did.I was a customer for years with my auto..... Ive had numerous issues with their auto-draft if I paid the monthly premium early online on my auto insurance policy with them not crediting my account. They would send me a letter trying to charge me a $10 dollar late fee and threaten to terminate my auto insurance when the payment was sent early, not late. Each time they had to contact someone in their accounting department to make the adjustment....Being a customer for over 4 years I would promptly make my monthly payments on time at the end of each month, however, would regularly be charged a $10 late fee at the end of each month sometimes due to my bank (Wells Fargo) not sending them the payments until after their fee collection date (i.e. a weekend, non-market business day would typically cause this). Out of shear laziness I just paid the fee from time to time to avoid the pain points of getting the amount credited off my record but other times I would call and complain about the lack of control that I had over the situation and that I was in fact sending in my payment before or on the collection date. Customer service did not care and became frustrated at the shear fact of me calling in to complain about this methodology. When asking to escalate to a manager I was promised Id hear back via some type of correspondence but never did.Enough is enough. I cancelled my policy (of course had to pay another late fee in doing so), they lost a good paying customer in myself to a competitor (State Farm) and Im happy with the transition. The situation above (payment sent vs. received date) does not apply to State Farms policies (win) and their rates are cheaper for the exact same coverage (double win). Goodbye AAA Carolinas, enjoy losing a responsible customer!

Worst service!!! left wife and I stuck broke down for 2 hours in hot sun 5 hours from home. No transportation to dealer towed car to or to motel. no help at all on rental vehicle. takes for ever to get live person on the phone. why pay them-- use your auto insurance roadside assistance or car manufacturer roadside assistance. AAA is a joke now.

I’ve been with AAA more than 30 years but never asked for towing .I backed my truck into mud in my front yard (actually to make room for AAA to service my car which had a dead battery)The battery guy was in a regular van and so he suggested I call back to get a tow truck to pull me out. AAA declined to pay to move my truck 10 feet in my own driveway in front of my own house because they said I lived in a gated community.TEN FEET !!!AA PLplus membership has no value

I was a customer for years with my auto and homeowners. This account was always paid out of an escrow account.Simply put, practice what you preach when you first sign up as a new customer. If you gave your long-term customers the same attention and respect you give your new customers, Id still be a customer.

AAA of the Carolinas is the WORST!! My 70 year old parents have been AAA members for over 25 years. In the time they may have used it somewhere around 15 times. However, my family has cancel our membership last week due to AAA not willing to honor their warranty program for there batteries.After:1. 10 calls for battery service2. 3- days of the battery not holding a charge and after being charged over night 2x’s.3. The vehicle needs towed to get the new battery4. the last thing, “all” the tests came back good expect the battery! ... CCA showed 8 should be at 750Volts are at 10. Should be at A minimum of 12 v. (See pics)AAA is not what it used to be, my grandmother had it back in the 70s and my parents have had it for years, my brother has it. We’ve all been AAA members as a family and now all of us have canceled our memberships! I wanted to share this for when you have a point of failure with your vehicle, don’t count on AAA to in the way you expect to be treated it most likely will not happen. I would hope that nobody else ever has this type of experience with AAA of the Carolinas. Good Luck!!!

I moved to NC and was trying to transfer my membership - the customer service representative was very rude and unprofessional to a point that I told her that I was not going to renew my membership and her response was have a good day and thank you for calling AAA, really? My husband took my car to get an oil change. He drove off thinking everything was fine until he heard something dragging under the car. Got out to look the access panel was hanging off. It hung on until he took it back. They told him they could just rig it up. What? Rig something up that was your mistake! That’s just terrible period! It was fixed but never again.

The worst customer service for the driver safety program. I took the safety program in September and Never received the certificate. I have since called on so many occasions I have lost count. You are consistently prompted to leave a message because NO ONE can answer the phone. NO ONE has EVER called me back!!!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED

I used AAAs assistance services to have my car towed. The contracted tow company broke the turn signal, didnt notify me, and I opened a claim with AAA when I noticed. We reached an agreement that the towing company would pay for the part and Id install it myself. 3 months after, they have paid half of the invoice for the part, and AAA says they cannot help me (even hung up on me when I was trying to find out my options) and basically left me out to deal with their contractor. Extremely unprofessionnal and absolutely not the peace of mind I was looking for. I am extremely disappointed.

Im a AAA member and have been paying for years for a membership only for roadside assistance. Few days ago, I was stranded in a parking lot with a car not starting (problem that I had asked AAA Pineville Center to fix in last service, they said there is no problem - another story). I called roadside assistance they didnt schedule towing for 5 hrs! Had to call another towing service and pay out of pocket. AAA overall has been a disappointment. The Pineville location Car care center, avoid it if possible.

AAA was already an incredible company and ACG makes it even better with great perks for members like- FREE Protect My ID with Experian, offered to all three service levels Basic, Plus and Premier. They have an amazing Member Relations, ERS, MSC, Travel and Insurance team. AAA leads in great customer service in all areas whether in Member Services, Travel, Insurance, Car Buying, Car Care, FINS Car Wash and customer care. AAA is one of the last companies that still supply maps, trip tiks, tourbooks, road conditions and if you desire to plan a tour, cruise, etc., the Travel Agents know their destinations! AAA is a well rounded company and continues to extend and grow with its members grow. AAA is one of the oldest and best companies in America. Always providing peace of mind in every facet of service.

Got a flat tire literally two minutes up the road from my home. I didn’t have my ID on me but told them I could get it since I was so close. Refused to help me unless I was able to run up to my home grab and come back to where I left my car, but they wouldn’t wait for me to do so, I would have to call back. Already waited 45 minutes for the guy to show up and was running late for work. I get policy but there’s a thing called humanity too and these guys have none of it. I am furious with this service.

Billie Rae and Klaus are great!! I have been working them on several occasions for different things on the two cars my husband and I own. I love working with them!And when it comes to vacations, Hunter was a blessing! She helped plan our Disney vacation and even while I was down there and had an issue, I called her and she walked me through what’s going on. I would highly recommend Hunter in a heartbeat!!!

Not worth the money you put into them. After 1 year of gold membership Ill never return to be a AAA member. They lie and say youve used services you havent. Offer sit in towing to whoever they feel like offering it to. Left me and my 2 small children sitting on the side of a dark, busy street at 10 pm. Waited between 2-4 hours for every service call. I hate having to go from website to phone call, but thats what AAA had me do and I was pleasantly surprised by the person I spoke to. It was an actual human being who was thoughtful and kind. I even got service for my vehicle that very day.

I love my AAA!!!! We have been members since 1995 & have had to call for a variety of reasons..flat tire, dead battery & locked keys. Never have we been disappointed!!!We feel safe knowing when we are traveling together or separate... AAA has us covered!!!

Let me ask you this simple question: if you were looking to buy a service and someone told you that if you (or your loved one) were ever stranded on the side of the highway in the middle of the night, in a major city where there were no shortages of tow companies, that it would take them at least over an hour but more like two, but really no guarantee, would you buy it? Do yourself a favor, and don’t purchase this service. Plus member since 2007 and when it came down to it, they failed, and then wouldn’t reimburse the headache that occurred because of them all because of a situation out of our control... there are better options. Received an offer in the mail because I was a member in the past. When I called up they told me that my rate was cheaper than they were waiting me online. So they want to charge me $79 for two vehicles. Im better off to take a chance of paying a tow charge since most of my Towing would be more local. They want me to pay for services I dont want and they dont give me the option to pick what I want. Its kind of like cable youre paying for stuff you dont want and youre paying a high price. Its not helping senior citizens and no one seems to have a good car care plan that is dependable anymore. All I want is Towing and lockout. They dont offer any deduction for senior citizens so beware. Then they were going to give me a promo price with the offer in the mail. The cost was similar to what I was paying with aarp. So I asked her if it would be the same price after that first year, she said no it be regular price so that means youre paying over $100. So based on the reviews its easy to say that youre paying for a not so great or possibly great depending on what you get that day. Youre paying all this money for something that youre not going to use probably or may use it. Another one of those insurances that they just rip you off.

Pretty disappointed with AAA. Customer for 30+ years. Just saw a commercial on TV offering 1/2 off for new customer sign ups due to COVID-19. I am driving little to none, Car insurance has recognized that and is proactively discounting renewals. Nothing of the sort from AAA. Pure money grab.

I was looking for negative ratings...and not able to post without selecting star... so consider -100 rating from me. it was really bad experience with aaa. I purchased insurance policy in June ending and cancelled it in September ending. And I have paid in full for six months when I purchased. But when I canceled it, they did not mention about extra charges and after cancelling when I asked for refund they said there will be some extra charges for early cancellation and they said you will get less refund. And I did not see any refund credited to my credit card. And they charged me extra money about $130 after 20days of cancellation of policy for which they did not notify me. I was shocked by this transaction and thought my card is stolen... immediately called bank and checked with them about the transaction. How unprofessional way of doing transaction on customers credit card without letting them know.

Zero customer service. All I asked for was a map. Guy from auto care said person who hands out maps would be back in 30 minutes. I asked if there was no one else who could reach in a drawer to hand me a map, he said he couldnt get access to their software and walked off.

I have been AAA member for last 7 year. I know this shop from 2015 onwards. Usually when i used to come for occasional service, always have poor response. Today i came around 12:15 PM. I went to inside the store and asked them to check the Air. They said that they will come . I waited for 15 min under the scorching sun but noone has come. Service people are talking and roaming there.But noone is attended . Then , I left without checking AIR. I think that there is a customer service issue with this location for many years. I did not see any improvement.

I was stranded for 2 hours no help from AAA. The first time I called I was hung up on. 2nd time I called I was told I could do an unattanded tow. That didnt happen. Communication was extremely poor. Will never have my business again.

AAA left my vehicle stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire for 4 days, then refused to reimburse me for my cost to have it towed!My vehicle went off the road in a snow storm on 1/7/17 and received a flat tire in the process. I called AAA to get the vehicle towed at that time and was denied service due to the weather conditions. I needed to get home, so I called a friend to pick me up and drive me home. Over the next 3 days I called AAA 3 more times (on Sunday 1/8, Monday 1/9, and Tuesday 1/10) in attempt to get my vehicle towed. All 3 times they refused to provide service.I needed my vehicle so I had no other option but to call a local tow company (thanks Lemons Wrecking Service, for your great service and fast response! Youre a lifesaver), who then towed the vehicle to a service center to have the flat tire repaired.But the poor service doesnt stop there. Per AAAs membership guidelines On the rare occasion that a AAA road service provider is not available (after calling our 800 number), or your membership cannot be confirmed, you will be reimbursed for those services normally provided free of charge with your membership. Based on this guideline, I filed a claim to AAA for reimbursement of the towing expense; however, they denied my request for reimbursement!If you cant count on them to save you in an emergency? What good is being a member?

Even in the face of the Florence crisis the phone representative was calm and helpful. We had a team member in our driveway within 30 minutes to help start the car - dead battery, of course. He was warm and helpful and express concern about our safety. Love AAA!

Ive been a member for 3 years, and I have only ever used AAA to get trip tics and maps for vacation. Last night while driving home from New York, I had a flat tire. I called AAA, and Randy in Elkin, NC came and changed the tire. He was so courteous and friendly. He quickly changed our tire, and we were on our way home! Thank you, Randy and AAA Carolinas, for helping us out in a scary situation!! I will definitely keep my membership!Great service, low price, and quality servicemen!

Total Ripoff. Do NOT get their roadside assistance; if you have ANY Modifications to your vehicle (camper shell, light bar, etc) theyll show up and refuse to tow because your modified vehicle could be a danger to you, the driver and other vehicles on the roadway 🙄 .

Dead to me. They cancelled me after close to 40 years of membership and refuse to even consider an alternative. Over the years they have made much more off of me than I have them. Most years, I never used them at all. Good riddance, AAA. There are too many other alternatives now.

Its their corporate headquarters, a place where you can sign up for various kinds of insurance, road assistance membership and auto repair discounted services. They have a online Auto Buying service where you can purchase a car ON LINE if you qualify and you can have your paperwork brought to your home to sign and also the car if you dont feel like picking it up yourself. You never have to set foot in their building to buy a car.
