I had a makeup lesson with Saritta yesterday & it was amazing. I’m 43 & though I love makeup, I’ve always felt like I wasn’t doing it right.Saritta is a fantastic teacher- she didn’t just tell me how to do makeup, she showed me why you do it & it really helped me understand the products and how to use them. I have a difficult time knowing what colors (eye shadow, lipstick) will look good in me & she explained my skin tone & what to look for in a color. I can’t recommend her enough & I’m loving the Gibson Girl products & brushes.

I had my first cut with Courtney yesterday and couldn’t be happier with the results! I have very fine, straight and she did such a fantastic job with it. I love the cut and, for I think the first time ever, I have a style that doesn’t need to be blown dry. And it’s a really well run salon - easy appointment booking, great products, and lots of nearby parking options.

It’s hard to find someone who has the expertise to cut curly hair. Merci did a great job. My curls are back!!!

Tracy turned my hair disaster into a masterpiece! She listened to my goals throughly and gave me realistic expectations. Joanna is honestly the best hair stylist I’ve ever had for my platinum blonde hair. My hair is fine, porous, and has been processed in different amounts at different lengths throughout the years. This makes it somewhat of a challenge to get uniform toning, but she always does it somehow! She’s extremely talented and I’ve never had anything but beautiful results when she does my root blending and toning! I’m about to move to Michigan, but I’ll definitely continue to see Joanna when I come to visit! 🥰

A dramatic pink eyeshadow with lashes, and the perfect foundation and lips. I got so many compliments! Plus as an added bonus she was just fun to chat with for an hour!

I recently moved to Charleston from Chicago & had a hard time finding a new stylist to trust. I went to a few salons (that did a terrible job) before finally finding Courtney at Gibson’s. The first time I saw her, she completely revived/fixed my balayage and did an AMAZING dry hair cut! I have long, fine hair and she knows exactly how to cut it. She also listens to exactly what I want and is so warm and friendly. More recently, she brought me back to my natural dark hair color and I’m obsessed! I will not be going anywhere else!!

Joanna and Michelle are both amazing! I have been going to Joanna and I have other friends who also go to Joanna or Michelle, and they have never done any of us wrong. Some of my cutest hair I’ve ever had was done by Joanna! I definitely trust them. A lot of other salons are very pushy or don’t listen to the client, but they are perfect and always deliver.

As a new customer, I was paired with Master Stylist Tracy McKay for highlights and cut. I like very ashen blonde highlights, and lots of them. My roots are starting to show flickers of grey, and Tracy suggested a glaze in between highlight sessions to freshen the color. Her suggestions were fantastic! I have visited the salon twice now, and Tracy clearly understands how to give you the look you want. I am extremely picky and find it a bit difficult to express exactly what I want. Tracy has the patience to listen to want you want, and the skill and talent to make it happen.The salon is easy to get to, and close to a parking garage. The salon itself is relaxing and inviting, and the front desk staff are friendly and courteous. I am so glad I found Gibson Hair!

Get your hair done at Gibson salon and you won’t be disappointed. I see Joanna and she’s the best. She gave me a beautiful blonde balayage. I feel like she really took the time to make sure she understood exactly what I wanted and she is excited to see the end result each time she does my hair and it’s nice to see a stylist share excitement with their client which I think made my experience here that much more great! I always leave here with my hair looking great, feeling great and feeling confident.

What a HORRIBLE experience! I booked several weeks ahead of time for hair and airbrush makeup for a photography session. I was scheduled to arrive at 815a for hair and makeup which they promised me would be done well before 10. The photo shoot was scheduled for 11a. I arrived at 810a. By 825a, still no sign of the stylist/makeup artist. It was all scheduled to be done by one person. Another nice stylist took me back to get my hair curled “while I waited for the makeup artist.” She was done by 845a with my hair and then I was sent back to the waiting area to wait on the makeup artist. Around 910a, the front desk girl came up and told me that the makeup artists’ car had broken down and she would be there in 15 minutes. She offered to refund me the cost of my makeup and I accepted. Eventually another makeup artist showed up and started my makeup. First of all, she did not do airbrush makeup and the end result was just horrible looking. I finally left at 1015a at which point I was extremely stressed which is not good considering I am currently pregnant. I had to redo my makeup in the car on the way to the shoot. We were late for the shoot and the photographer was noticeably annoyed. The shoot was cut short bc we arrived late. Who knows how the photos turned out. Needless to say, I will NEVER use this business again and would NEVER recommend to anyone. Horrible horrible experience!

Tracy was super creative and insightful regarding the long overgrown locks I was dragging around. My hair got layered, thinned and simply beautified! She is young and extremely talented with an exciting future in front of her. I will gladly travel to see her and recommend her style intuition to anyone!!

I booked a hair styling/updo and airbrush makeup appointment for my elopement! I loved both my stylist and makeup artist, and it was lovely to be pampered the morning of my big day. My makeup artist worked with me and made sure that I loved how I looked! I’m pretty low maintenance, so I didn’t purchase the pre wedding/bridal package for my small elopement and was a little worried about how my makeup would look (because I’ve had absolutely horrendous experiences at other salons). Luckily, this experience was a great one and I would definitely come back again!

Merci is gods gift to thick and wavy hair. I have been going to the same stylist for a few years to do my cut & color, but she was just not doing me any favors when it came to cutting my hair. I have thick, wavy hair and decided I needed to find someone who didnt just specialize in blondes (which, no offence seems like half of the stylists in Charleston). I literally did my research and started looking online at some of the reputable salons in Charleston. Gibson was on top of my list, and after reading the stylists bios, I decided to take a chance on Merci. Best decision Ive made! She really gets me and my hair goals. She takes great care and cuts with precision. Ive never had someone spend so much time on my cut and it has made a world of a difference. My hair air dries like a dream, has texture and is full of body. She is a true skilled professional and worth every penny! I will be going to her now for my color when its time to cover up my pesky greys.

We traveled to Charleston for our daughter’s wedding along with completing a trial run for hair and makeup with artist Bay Stone. The day of the wedding Bay traveled on site to the Francis Marion (arriving on time). I received so many compliments on hair and makeup. Bay was fun and joy to be around.Although the facility is pretty pricy I would still recommend their services.

I am a 50+ women but there were clients there from all generations (male and female) and all left looking fabulous with smiles on their faces. I am no longer looking for a salon because I’ve found one!

Gigi is a phenomenal hair stylist. When I moved to Charleston she was the first person I saw and I’m so glad I did. I have recommended five others to her and they have all been pleased! She always goes above and beyond and what I’m asking for. She makes all my icy blonde dreams come true. I’m so sad that I’m moving to Nashville. I guess I’ll just be flying back into town to see her!!

This was my first time at the salon and I was in a bit of a panic as my friend had cut my hair the previous night. I went in for an appointment that ended up taking way longer than expected and instead of my stylists rushing or just doing the minimum she spent literally all day with me to get my hair almost to what we’re going for. She didn’t come off as grouchy because of anything she stayed nice and polite the whole time and kept a smile. Much appreciated and so happy with the outcome with my hair thanks to Mae Simmons🙏🏼

Stylists and staff were very friendly, and inside is well kept and cute. Very good about Covid policies too. Hair stylist took the time to get my input on what I wanted but, the actual haircut and styling was a bit rushed and because went on NYE, and hair stylist was slammed back to back. Only feedback would be to space out appointments to make sure clients don’t feel like their appointment is rushed.

Although salon services are pricey, they’re worth every penny! I do not trust anyone other than Taylor Haffa to color my hair! My recommendation is to communicate your desired transformation/look prior to booking, that way she has enough time to work her magic! You won’t regret booking your balayage with her!

I went to Taylor to fix a color mistake in which I had a huge chunk of black in the roots of my hair! She was incredibly knowledgeable and was able to, not only get the color removed, but highlight and bring my hair up to a beautiful blonde color! I have been getting my hair done for a long time and I can say that Taylor at Gibson was a miracle worker. In addition, this salon was very clean and friendly. This was my first time at GHM & it did not disappoint! I was quite nervous as I have super curly textured hair, but Joanna handled my curls like a champ! I got got a keratin treatment & blow out- and the cut she did was perfection, one of the best I’ve had in years. Extremely grateful for Joanna’s patience & fitting me in.

We came to Charleston for our elopement wedding over Thanksgiving week, to blend our families together in a beautiful location. It was a last minute booking, as I called only a week ahead. Gibson seamlessly worked us in for both hair and makeup, even though they were already very busy. They even allowed us to get dressed in their shop, as it was our last stop on the way to the wedding location. My 9 year old daughter and my newly acquired 15 year old daughter enjoyed their experience in your salon so very much, and both walked in very anxious about it initially. Your gracious stylists and down-to-earth atmosphere put them at ease. Each girl asked for her own style (no updos). Each walked out smiling from ear to ear and looking runway ready in the fancy dress she had selected (and a blue jean jacket). My own hair and makeup has never looked so glamorous. I am still receiving complements every time someone looks at the photos. (Thank you Gigi!) The stylists were so kind and sweet to us. They worked magic on our family and treated us each to a lovely wedding prep experience in their salon that added even more thrill to an already exciting day. I was going for a brunette balayage into pastel pink, and after an unsuccessful attempt with another hair stylist, she was able to give me exactly what I wanted in the first try. I was very nervous and probably very neurotic after having a disappointing experience with the first stylist, but she was very patient and made me feel really confident throughout the appointment. I cant wait to go back!

I visit Charleston often and this is my go-to salon. Recently I had a cut and color with Sam. WOW. Just, wow. I’ve done base color and highlights for years (in many cities all over the US) and I’ve never had such wonderful results before. My sister went to Sam too and had the same experience. We both recommend her to the stars! She’s extremely professional, skilled and thorough. And so fun to talk to! Just wish I could make her my regular stylist!❣️

Today was my first time and I can’t say I’m anything other than ecstatic! Gigi was fabulous. It was totally by chance that I happened to find Gigi at Gibson Salon, and I couldnt be happier that I did!!! She has the sweetest, most patient personality, and most importantly- she does a FANTASTIC job with my balayage and cut. I always walk out feeling SO much better. And, she doesnt do a lot of multitasking like other stylists Ive been to- Im in and out in under 2 hours. LOVE that. Shes the best!! I booked an appointment for a haircut with Gigi after reading the great reviews. From the moment she greeted me, she was nothing but friendly and attentive. She sat down with me and listened to what I was looking for and helped me narrow down to a style that would fit my criteria while still being a look that would suit my face and my maintenance needs. I appreciate that she took care to spend a lot of time on my hair but it went by quickly because she was so personable that it felt like I was chatting with a friend. My haircut turned out wonderful and the layers looked so natural while adding a lot more dimension to my hair, which was exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend Gigi!

I’m so happy I found Gigi! I was having such a hard time finding a good hairstylist to stick with, and was just having one bad experience after another until I came here. She listened to everything I had to say and knew exactly what to do to make my hair look the way I wanted it. FINALLY, a hairstylist who knows what they’re doing! It’s a little more expensive here, but her experience and expertise is worth EVERY penny. I love how my hair looks for the first time in forever, and I hope she never goes anywhere because finding her was like a needle in a haystack. Yay!

I had an awesome experience at Gibson on Princess. Jennifer was phenomenal. She is super kind and generous of her time. She made me feel like a million bucks. Very good with color and cut. And I cant think of the front desk coordinators name but he is absolutely perfect for the salon. Hes everything you want. Hes attentive, engaged, super sweet and hospitable. I loved talking to him. And he gave me a hug when I left which really made me feel great. It really made my day so much sweeter. And last, the Kevin Murphy products are amazing. I bought shampoo, a clarifying shampoo (Jenny suggested I use once per week because I have well water), conditioner, a smoothing cream and a curl cream. I have to say that its the best products I have used in a long time. I am never super thrilled with hair products but these are definitely much different. I am so glad I found this salon.
