Our fishing adventure was the highlight of our vacation week! The communication with Captain Gates from the initial contact to even after the trip was amazing. Our party did two charters. Captain Gifford hosted the other half of our party. Both captains were amazing with my children with sincere patience and compassion. They were helpful with all the anglers. I would highly recommend booking a fishing charter with Captain Gates You will not be disappointed!

Our first trip to Folly introduced us to Captain Gates. From initial conversations, until our charter was complete, Gates was a pleasure, knowledgeable and professional.He was flexible, and creative. He was a world of information once out on the water. He knew everything you needed to know about fishing the waters in the Folly area. We went out as a group of rookie fishermen. My son and I had a great time fishing with Captain Gates. It was our first time in Charleston and first time fishing in the ocean. Captain Gates showed us a variety of fishing in the waters off of Charleston, catching Red Fish, Spotted Sea Trout, and several other varieties. The highlight of the trip was hooking not one, but two Atlantic Stingrays while fishing for sharks, one of which was 100+ lbs. We would definitely recommend fishing with Captain Gates and will do so again if we get back to Charleston.

Captain Gates is a first rate professional and great communicator. He helped me plan our inshore trip all the way back to initial contact. We had a great time and caught a lot of fish. Captain Gates took us to several spots that had fish, and the scenery and education was incredible. We had a great time and plan to do this again next year. Gates is very patient and helpful.

Such great Captains! We were a group of military that went out and even though it was cold (January) we still caught a couple fish but honestly just having a line in the water and good company, it was so much fun and very relaxing! Thank you all so much for being so positive and just good company! We were just happy to be outside doing something fun!

From start to finish, an outstanding experience. Gates was very responsive to any questions/concerns prior to the trip. On the boat, my family was able to learn a lot about low country back waters, and he spent a lot of extra time trying to help them catch the big ones! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip with captain Gates! He did a great job -- we caught fish for four hours straight. Caught grouper, red fish and trout. Captain Gates was extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. We highly recommend and will go again if we return to Folly Beach!

Captain Gates is absolutely terrific, we had 3 kids with us and he was patient and engaging with the kids, he put us over a shipwreck and we must of caught 50 fish, along with prolly 12 different species, sea bass, red fish, blue fish, mackerel, pigfish etc. Then he put me son on a 31 Redfish of a lifetime within 15 minutes on the flats! He is the real deal!

Gates was just fantastic. Got my family on the fish from very early on. We all had a blast. My kids say it was the highlight of their trip. I will definitely go again when we come back, and would recommend to anyone traveling to Folly Baech.

We had an absolute blast with Tall Tide Fishing Adventures. It was definitely one of the best charters we have ever been on. There was never a dull moment. We set out to catch fish and thats exactly what we did. They were very informative about the local waters, ecosystem and practiced safe fishing habits. They will definitely be my first call when I come back to the Folly Beach area.

An incredible experience! I caught some HUGE fish, like bigger than I thought possible. Captain Gates told me I was good at casting the line, even though I know that I wasnt ;) Highly Reccommend!

Capt. Gates will put you on the fish! He is an excellent guide. It is more than just a day fishing when you go out with him. He is extremely knowledgeable about the entire ecosystem. Ive been fortunate enough to go out with Gates a handful of times and he never disappoints. I look forward to our next trip!

We had a great day on the water with tall tide fishing adventures yesterday. They went above and beyond on taking us on a great trip. We caught a lot of fish. The captain is a great guide and I will be going out with him again. I would definitely recommend them to my friends.

My husband and I had a great morning fishing with Captain Gates! We did a four hour, in-shore trip and he took us to several spots to get the most out of our experience. He provided great knowledge on how to cast, watch out for signs of good fishing holes, and took care of baiting the poles for us. We caught lots of fish and a shark! Gates was great company and cares about South Carolina and the environment he works in. We booked our trip last minute and it ended up being one of the best experiences of the vacation. I’m so glad he had an opening and could fit us in. OH! And he took some great photos and text them to us so we didn’t have to worry about that and could just enjoy being on the water.

Had a great time!! Took my buddy out for the 2.5 hour shark trip. Had a great time and was even able to bring home a nice red fish!
