Even tho Bilda doesnt service bikes anymore, because I had recently purchased one from them, this guy helped adjust my chain and gave me some great info on the upcoming line of bikes. It’s unfortunate that I feel the need to give Bilda a one-star review overall as I had many positive conversations with several of the employees prior to purchasing who all shared their passion and enthusiasm for biking with me. They were helpful in guiding me towards finding a great bike for my needs over several visits to the store. However, an employee named Ryan who happened to be there on my final visit when I came in to make my purchase made the experience so miserable, I regret getting my bike from Bilda. After I’d committed to the sale, his behavior changed to beyond unprofessional - he became rude and hostile, even getting in my face at one point while I was putting on a new bottle holder for my bike. I would not recommend Bilda because of this experience with Ryan unfortunately.

I bought a custom built bike from here a several months ago and it came with a 1 year free tune up. When I called to try to get someone to look at my breaks, it’s convenient that they no longer do work on bikes. (Red flag) They don’t even have mechanics on staff?!If you are going to invest in a bike, make sure you purchase it from somewhere that know what they are doing and can fix your bike when the time come. Go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience! I was searching a bicycle for my wife and I and wanted to buy local. I tried a few other shops with no luck and then I called this shop and Elijah helped me pick out a bike for both my wife and I over the phone he texted me pictures and then they set up delivery to my door. I couldnt be happier and Im glad that I found this place.

Cool bike...since I had it repaired. Both me and my buddy bought bikes recently from them (JI Sprinter and Civilderness) and both needed repairs almost immediately. I had a bad chain that actually had a link break within the first week at full speed & my buddy had the spindle break. Also all of the bolts on the bike were loose when I purchased it. Awesome tech, very poor quality

Pretty disappointed in how bulky these bikes are. 3/4 of the time we spent walking with our bikes rather than riding. So bulky and when you’re wanting to enjoy a nice long stroll through Charleston, these bikes are just not the ones to ride. Really wish I didn’t even come here and the guy helping us was the least bit empathetic or understanding.

Bilda Bikes mechanics assembled a bike for me recently. They did a great job in a short amount of time and I was happy with the price. Overall it was a great experience. We will be servicing our bikes here from now on.

This is the most incredible bicycle store I have ever experienced. I purchased my bike many years ago. I have had no trouble with it whatsoever. When I take it into the shop for “tune ups”, the gentlemen in the shop are friendly and accommodating, knowledgeable and helpful. I cannot speak highly enough of the product, or the service this shop offers. If you are considering a new bike, this is the place to get it!

Service was great. The cheapest bikes were good for downtown, kind of clunky, but nice enough... each bike comes with a lock, which is good. We had a great time!

I took this place for granted when I lived in Charleston. But, I bought my beloved bicycle here about ten years ago for what I now realize was a ridiculously good price and have since traveled with it up the east coast. It was so long ago I really can’t remember much else about the shop, but the quality of their product serves as a high point in my book!

Been here a couple times, and the employees have been extremely helpful. Usually two or three chime in to give relevant advice when I need help picking out the right product (which has been pretty helpful for me as a newbie on the road biking scene). They also keep a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

My husband and I came in here on a Sunday afternoon looking for a couple of bikes. We are essentially clueless in this area but shop employee Elijah was able to answer all of our questions, including things about the bikes laws where we live (Goose Creek). He got us squared away in under an hour and even helped us find a bike rack close to closing! Lots of great employees here, everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable.

We enjoyed these basic bikes.The baskets and straps on them came quite handy.Would recommend them.

I just drove into town from Atlanta looking to purchase a new bicycle. I knocked on the window and the guy told me to call. I called and it’s impossible to get through to someone in the store. I don’t call that service and why bother doing business with someone like this.

All the mechanics at this place are awesome. Even when I bring in a beater mountain bike, they treat me like a pro. Unlike nearly every bike shop ever, these guys dont talk down to you, dont overcharge, and usually can fix you up while you wait. Today they even set me up with a simple fix for free. Consider me a customer for life.

Ive visited Charleston a few times and highly recommend renting a bike to get around and see the city. The Arthur Revnel bridge is amazing to ride! Plus the sites, eating and shopping by bike is just a whole other experience. These guys are local, conveniently located and reasonably priced--also very friendly and accommodating! I highly recommend afford a bike! Ill definitely use them again and again!

Great people. Went for a rear tire change and they hooked me up at great price. Unfortunately the tire didnt set right on my rim and the inner tube blew. Brought it back and they fixed it right up and threw a different tire on there. Highly recommend. Thanks guys!

I took my old cyclocross bike in for a minor refresh. I got a new chain, brake cables, bar tape and a few other minor things. The mechanic took me back to give his recommendations and also told me what could be done later. He was awesome, nice, knowledgeable and positive. While it was in the shop he called to ask me if I wanted to replace my gummy shifter hoods, something I hadn’t thought of but certainly wanted to do. That’s being thoughtful, considerate of the customers needs and just plain helpful. They also cleaned the bike for me. The prices were more than reasonable and now my bike rides great!

Southern hospitality does not exist at this place! My tire was low and I stopped in to ask if I could borrow a pump to fill up so I didnt have to walk my bike 2 miles home. I was told I would have to buy a pump or the charge was $5 to borrow their pump. This is NOT how the biking community treats one another. This is not how you should treat your neighbors. I was VERY disappointed in how this went down. I will never give this place my business and I will also make sure that all of my friends and family here know to not give this place their business as well.

I would caution anyone against renting a bike from Affordabike, and if their customer service, quality and attitude about rentals could relate to bikes they sell, then Id caution against buying here as well.Im an experienced (though hardly professional) road rider, who rides about 60 miles a week and have done so for at least the last 15 years. Ive purchased several bikes and Ive rented road bikes from at least 6 different shops in the last 5 years. Only one didnt come close to meeting expectations: Affordabike.You dont have to read the rest, but if you want to, heres what happened in a nutshell:I rented two bikes. The first brought out was in obvious bad condition. The second looked better but actually was way out of adjustment and shifted very poorly. Then a tire went flat. The spare was flat. The shop refused to support us after the bike failure because of, ostensibly, where we had wandered to, but we were 4 miles from the shop. Then they charged us $60 to retrieve the bikes from 4 miles away. Then they refused to refund us for a whole day that we had paid for but didnt have the bikes (not even counting the day on which we couldnt continue our ride). Then they were incredibly rude and hostile and threatening in person. The owner really has a self-control issue.For the longer story see review on Yelp

Affordabike on King Street is wonderful. They donated a fabulous blue and white Popsicle beach cruiser to the Green and Lean 5K, A race to promote litter prevention education. The guys working the store were friendly and helpful. Great place to go for bikes and accessories!

I couldnt imagine a better place to purchase a bike! As soon as you walk into the door you are greeted by friendly workers who take their time assisting you in all your needs, questions, and concerns. There are tons of options to choose from and super affordable. This place has the same if not better quality of bikes in comparison with other bike shops in Charleston, but they sell at a lower price. I had a friend recommend this bike shop since the service that they received was so awesome. Anytime there was a tune-up or repair needed my friend was given proper care and fair repair quotes.

Highly recommend renting a bike from Affordabike on King St. Super cool dudes that work there and they discounted the rate since we were renting later in the afternoon. Try the tandem bike, you’ll love it!!

We purchased a Brewster and a Queen and have enjoyed them. Staff was super and we have returned to store for accessories and a few parts. Staff is always helpful and store is well stocked. Can not go wrong with Affordabike.

Pick one of the other local bike shops for service, repairs, or purchases. Simple things like replacing a tube and filling with air are for one thing expensive (22.80) and secondly to difficult for the service team!??! This is exactly what happens when these larger corporations move in and treat customers like numbers and are only concerned about bottom lines and profits over doing the customer right. Take your business to another local home grown company where they care about customers and actually know how a bicycle functions. The manager here has zero people skills and I wouldn’t be surprised if this place is still around in 3 years. Trust me... move on!!!

This is a warning! Do not get your bike repaired at Affordabike at the corner of King and Cannon!!!!!!!! I brought my bike to them after $89 worth of repairs, they lost my bike lock. When I dropped off my bike, the lock was wrapped around the bike and when they gave it back to me, it wasnt there. I NICELY asked them if they could give me their cheapest lock in the store because I couldnt take my bike home without being able to lock it up and they told me that I lost my bike lock and they didnt, so they couldnt help me. I remained very nice and calm but they insisted that I had to buy another bike lock ($30) from them and they wouldnt help me. To top it off, the staff was incredibly rude the entire timeBEWARE OF AFFORDABIKE!

BEWARE!!! The Rental cruiser bikes are horrible. Rented 3 bikes for 24 hrs. Chain falls off daughters within 2 blocks. Wife had to stop at every block to fix guard that was rubbing. My back tire fell off twice within 1 hour. Brought bikes back within 3 hours.They still made us pay for the 24 hrs instead of the 3 hour rate. Shop around!! There are better bike rentals in Charleston for sure.TOTAL TOURIST SCAM!!!!!! (0 STARS)

I recently moved to Charleston and this shop comes easily recommended by locals and visitors alike for the longevity of the business. Ive always had mixed experiences when I stop by the shop for purchases and repairs but so does everyone. The only negative experiences that Ive had are probably those times when the staff is busy or otherwise occupied with something else. Most times staff are very friendly, but some times they can be very snarky to borderline negative. Ive had my bike serviced 3 times and all were different experiences altogether that it makes me feel unwelcome or sometimes a noob if I were to show up with a minor repair concern. I want to really like this shop and show my support, but in the short time Ive been here in Charleston Ive already had inconsistent service.

Got the groupon since Ive been needing a new bike. I dont really know much about bikes but have been considering going on some trails as well as going around Charleston. Had someone helping me as soon as I came in. The guy knew what he was talking about and after explaining what I wanted and my price range he showed me the bikes they had and explained the different benefits of them. They also let me take them out and ride them around Charleston to see how I liked it. Overall a great experience.

These guys repaired my warped front rim after a minor accident, pages 15 bucks and had my bike back in 15 minutes. They also didnt try to sell me anything. Also, I was greeted each time I entered.

I did not have a good experience at Affordabike. I realize I made a mistake by making an impulse buy on a SUV bike rack. After purchase, I noticed that they were $100 less expensive online for the exact same model Affordabike sells in its store and immediately returned the hitch rack within 48 hours of purchase. Upon returning they were unwilling to refund any payment and would only offer a store credit. I realize this may work for their business and I am willing to admit fault in impulse buying. However, I am extremely dissatisfied with only receiving a store credit on an overpriced, never used bike rack.I have no desire to use this company again and I have a gift card for $314.64 that I would be willing to pass along to anyone that may be interested. Just because I had a bad experience does not mean someone else will. If interested please contact me.

Went there to get new tires and tubes, returned one tire and one rim strip because I didn’t need them. They said the money would be on my card in 1-3 buisiness days. It’s been 3 1/2 days and I still haven’t seen it as well as them being very rude over the phone. Will not shop there again

I purchased my Cannondale Slice here and the mechanics are great and keep it in prestine condition year round. On a side note, when my girlfriend or friends visit we always grab one of their tandem bikes for the weekend.

I want to call out Affordabike here. My buddies and I had planed to do a 60 mile ride around Lake Moultrie. We have been looking forward to this ride all week and it was going to be Dannys first trip around the lake.We got all our gear set out the night before, cleaned our kits, and froze the water bottles. Sunday morning came and it was time to hit the trail! We were up at 7 AM excited to spend a day gravel grinding, when disaster stuck. On inspection of the bikes as we were loading them up, Danny had a bad link. There was no way we could take on a 60 mile trek with a known bad chain.We were frantic. We called our other buddies to tell them about the possible problem and delay. They understood and just said let them know. We started calling everywhere. Walmart, Dicks, Kmart, if we could think of it call. But it was Sunday morning and there was no help.As we stood in the kitchen as a last ditch effort before we called the trip, I posted to this group looking for any help I could find.Daniel from Affordabike sent me a message with in 10 mins saying that if we could meet him at the shop then he would take time and had a chain for us. Danny and I were ecstatic. This would save the whole trip! So 9 AM we loaded up and rushed to Affordabike to pick up the chain.Its worth pointing out that the Amazon, big box store, or major retailer didnt save us. When it came down to the wire, a local bike shop that cares about the local riders went the extra mile, so that we could go 60!

Very friendly people and reasonable prices

Two painful experiences:First I came in with my 1975 Schwinn to ask about a gear problem. Tech said I needed a new bike because the Schwinn was toast. Turns out the internal hub just needed lube! Apparently the tech is just a salesman...Second, I came in to change a flat tube. Went flat again instantly because the tech didnt clear a sharp piece from the tire. Went back and Afordabike wanted to charge full price for the second flat, even after acknowledging their mistake the first time...Never going back!

Im Not even a customer but i couldnt help notice they will charge you $5 to put air in your tire ! What a joke , go to bicycle shop on meeting st., free air all day !

Havng just driven in from Canada our bikes were crusted with highway salt. We coluldnt even shift gears, which is generlly ok in Chasleston. A 5 minute stop at Affordabike fixed everything, no charge! Very pleasant and efficient staff.
