This has been the best experience I’ve had in a Gym. It’s like a family! Everyone is so supportive, the instructors are the best and they are VERY patient. This has been the best money ever spent. I decided to start kickboxing in July, Train for Life has been the perfect way to start! I appreciate both of the trainers making sure that I am practicing the right techniques and also being patient with me while I have been learning. Kickboxing is a GREAT workout and it doesnt take much time out of your day to go.

A good friend of mine invited me to the cardio kickboxing classes back in May. At the time I felt physically and mentally out of shape, was struggling with my own motivation, and really only thought of the offer as something fun to try out. Three months later Ive found myself waking up early and eager to head to these classes, get in a great sweat, and feel energized enough for the rest of the day.Ive gotten to work with all three of the Cardio Kickboxing coaches so far, who all each have their own unique orientation and focus towards instructing class. Yet they all share the same passion and presence to make these classes a fun and meaningful workout for class members of all different skill levels. With that said, I would recommend these classes to a veteran as much as I would to a completely new kickboxer.

Honestly I have trained at 6 different places and this is by far the nicest facility in North Carolina. The excellent instruction and the atmosphere is family-like and incredibly welcoming. It’s the greatest place in town to get in shape!! Most cities don’t have places like this, it’s truly unique!

I came to Train for Life for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I had a great experience. I had trained elsewhere for ten years or so, but I had to stop for months at a time to recover from frequent injuries. When I started meeting with a trainer at TFL, however, they were able to identify ways in which I could condition myself to prevent further injuries, and it totally worked. They also have an incredible focus on fundamentals, and I was able to fill in some of the gaps that had resulted from my frequent absences from training.

Come come! I’ve been training here for about two years now and have been loving it. All of the instructors are simply phenomenal; the coaches/trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and make working out or training super fun.When I joined, I was in really bad physical shape and had some mental health issues from years of bartending, but after working with Karim (a personal trainer/boxing coach) and taking both the TFL and Gracie Jiu Jitsu classes, I’ve become substantially stronger and more confident. My only regret is that I didn’t join the gym years ago.Wether you’re coming to learn kickboxing/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or just want to work out, I highly recommend this gym.

As a long-time runner and fitness fanatic, I’ve attended many workout classes around the Triangle and Train for Life is one of my favorites. I HIGHLY recommend it!The combined boxing and HIIT training always leaves me feeling sweaty but accomplished. Karim and Aaron and Josh are all very knowledgeable and are always willing to take the time to answer questions and explain correct form. Their encouraging and friendly natures are infectious, making the entire class super supportive of one another and welcoming to newcomers.Added Bonus: there’s locker rooms with showers so you can rinse off and go straight to your next destination after your workout!

The community and classes offered at TFL are outstanding. We were initially hesitant about attending a combat training class, but Aaron and Karim made us feel so welcome, and they always do such a great job in guiding the workouts. Theyre tough, but worth it. This class has easily become one of the highlights of my week. Highly recommended!!!

I am not good at working out and hate the gym. The team at Train For Life team especially Karim and Aaron have been so great at teaching me how to work out and motivating me. The climate of the gym is friendly and not intimidating at all. I highly recommend this gym if you are new to working out, bored with your routine, or just looking for a challenge!

I have been going to the gym since I was 16. Now, Im double that age (yikes). This is absolutely the best gym I have ever joined. The instructors are great. The prices are very reasonable based upon the experience (its like having three trainers on a small team during each class). I highly recommend that you give it a shot. You will not regret it!

I would definitely recommend anyone to check it out. Although the workout is inspired by boxing, its widely enjoyed by people of various fitness levels and goals.Having a heavy bag to work on is a huge plus - Ill never want to go back to the air kickboxing that is usually offered by regular gyms.It is hard to get bored. We always learn some new moves and change the conditioning workout once in a while. Oh, and the class tend to be quite small(3-12 people as of recently) and we sometimes get not 1, but 3 trainers present. Quite a lot of personal attention and encouragement. Quite impossible to slack.In addition, this place is very clean and well maintained. The trainers are all very professional but also personable and funny. If you dont like heavy medal punk..err, do bring your own.

Excellent athletic coaches and jujitsu teachers. The entire operation is designed to accommodate and help families thrive in the context of working out together. Everyone is welcoming, engaging and kind, including all members. The equipment in the gym is all state of the art Rogue with bumper plates so accommodates even the crossfit crazies. Very clean and organized.

I participate in the Train for Life classes and they are the most fun Ive had while working out! The facility is clean and the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. The general vibe there is fun, friendly and not intimidating, even for a novice like me with no previous martial arts or kickboxing experience. I highly recommend you give it a try!

When I saw this gym 3 months ago and decided to go in I had no idea my life would be changed forever! Train for Life is different than other gyms in a good way. It is not huge but has everything you need and more. All the trainers there are friendly, know my name, and are legitimately interested in helping. At other, bigger gyms I felt like a number and was not comfortable asking a trainer a question. At Train for Life I know any one there would be happy to explain something to me. The atmosphere is so much friendlier than I could have imagined. It seems intimidating when you first walk in but you will be happy you did. The kickboxing classes are a mix of all levels and a lot of fun plus hard work.

I love this place. The facility is laid out very well. There is something for everyone in your family (kids included). I participate in the Train for Life and Cardio kickboxing classes. The instructors are top notch and push you hard but support you, at every fitness level. I was very pleased when Train for Life opened, since I had been looking for one like it for a while. Train for life is equipped with all the tools I want and need - barbells, kettle bells, dumbbells, weight sled, Olympic rings, etc... Theres no one place Ive seen that has the wide range of equipment that TFL has. On top of that, its far more pristine environment than most gyms of its caliber. Definitely a fan.

I’ve never been a person to work out let alone go to the gym but this place is so much more than that, it’s a family. We started a year ago with just my oldest doing BJJ and now the whole family goes. It’s really been a blessing and a ton of fun, plus the staff is fantastic. I love this place! Best workout around! I am pretty sure after the Train for Life class I burn calories for days. The workout is challenging and fun! Awesome gym! Im an old guy who recently relocated to Durham from SF and Im just getting back into BJJ after a 10 year hiatus (ugh). Its a tough journey but I couldnt have hoped for a better place to get back in fighting shape. Mazi, Tim, Josh, Mary and all of the instructors are amazing. The community is fantastic - super friendly group of folks who train hard and kick ass. Wherever you are in your own combat-fitness journey you will find what you need here. I love it!

LOVE train for life! The classes are incredible. I have never had a workout like at tfl, the class pushes you to another fitness level. It is a great place for families, you’ll see kids and families taking the class together. And the Jiu Jitsu class is exciting for beginners, ( I tried the women’s class recently and it was so much fun and a such a supportive group, I will definitely be back) and there’s plenty for those with more experience. The trainers are the best, I mean REALLY. Try it, you’ll love it!

The vibe here is great. Big focus on range of motion exercises. Both the kick boxing and jui jitsu increase strength and stamina, but theyre also great for coordination, quickness and agility. Ive been to quite a few gyms in my life where you jump on the treadmill or stairmaster, lift some weights and go home. This place is different. There are plenty of weights and you can lift as often as you like but thats not the focus of the gym. Highly recommend!

Train for life is the perfect place to train different physical activities. The open gym is a great option for supplmental work outs! They have all the equipment a cross fit gym has except for the assault bike but they have a stair machine and a life fitness machine.The boxing classes are a lot of fun and the coaches are very energetic and have great sense of humor! Jiu Jitsu, Judo, wrestling lessons are also offered!The customers range from all ages and background as well as the coaches, in other words is a culturally diverse gym.The price is affordable for everything they offer and is located near Trader Joe’s and other cool restaurants!

I have been training at Train for Life (previously CHGJJ) since April 2016 and I cannot recommend it enough. From the warm welcoming attitude of instructors, trainers, and students, to the excellent detailed instruction, and wide range of classes every day I train is made better than it would have been without TFL. From brand new white belts to seasoned jiu-jitsu practitioners, athletes to those trying to get in shape, there is something for everyone. Whether you want to learn self-defense or are looking to polish your game for the next tournament; if you want some personal training to take your fitness to the next level or just want a great kickboxing cardio workout, stop by, take a class see if you like it, you wont be disappointed.
