I rarely post a review but this company is truly deserving of a 5 stars! Our mother passed unexpectedly and was from out of state. We had little time to plan or look for cremation services prior to her passing. We received a list of places from the hospice representative and went with what we saw on prior reviews. Everyone we dealt with from the very first phone call were compassionate, caring, courteous and exceptionally friendly and helpful. We never felt hurried or pressured to make purchases or pay for services we didnt want. Special shout out to Stephen Nichols for all his services and assistance... made the best of an awful situation and even helped us out with certificates on Labor Day Monday when he really didnt have to. I would recommend this company to anyone without hesitation or reservation. Thank you again for all you did for our mother and our family!

Having just lost my mother, I was a little overwhelmed in the whole process that follows when someone passes and how expensive it can all be. Direct Cremation Services of Virginia (DCSV) was a big help in making the process easy to understand, we worked with Kip who was patient and understanding, took time to answer all our questions, and was accommodating to our needs. They have three cremation plans, all of which are greatly affordable compared to other funeral homes, their most affordable plan being around $2000 which with another funeral home cost $4000+. They offer additional services such as notifying social security of the decedents passing, offering a variety of urns, and also converting ashes into stones (through a third party). The process of cremation can be quick so long as all the paper work is in order, and ashes were returned to us the following day after cremation, sealed in a bag within a plastic container. The most endearing part of it all, was that they reached out to us afterwards to see how we are doing. My experience with them was so great that I recommend them to anyone in need of cremation services, and I want to thank DCSV for all their help during a difficult time.

The service is excellent. Very professional staff. Abby took care of all the details, kept me posted with all the steps, followed up with the hospital and doctor to make sure the process was moving on time. Because she was efficient I was able to return to my home in Canada without delay. Elizabeth was also great help, very compassionate. I highly recommend DCSV for their services. They met my highest expectations. I had no experience with cremations, but any uncertainty and apprehension I carried into the process quickly disappeared as with each step the DCSV staff demonstrated professionalism and care for my mother and my family. The staff answered all my questions. (I perhaps should have asked earlier whether the option to witness the cremation included my visual identification of the loved one, but staff adjusted and accommodated my need.) Again, DCSV -- great service, great staff.More about my experience ... My sisters and I brought our mother from Nebraska to Virginia after our father died so we could care for her in her final years nearer to where I and one sister and our families live. We promised to take her back to Nebraska to be buried with our father when her time came. None of us were experienced with cremations but we discussed it with mom and all agreed. I did my research and found that DCSV had the best offering of cremation services that met our needs. A few months later, at about the time mom entered hospice, I used the DCSV pre-need website to create an account and submit the necessary information and make initial choices. She rebounded a little, but four months later her condition deteriorated. When the hospice nurses told us she was in her final days, I went online to check and finalized the pre-need request. The hospice team knew to call DCSV upon her death. My sister was present when DCSV picked up moms body. My other sister composed the obituary and worked with DCSV to post it on their website. I worked with DCSV to finalize the information for the death certificate and schedule the cremation. I chose to witness the process and to pick-up the cremates the next day. The family will gather in Nebraska for a memorial event and to intern her next to dad. ... We are so grateful for DCSV.

Our mother passed unexpectedly while on vacation out of town in the Northern Virginia area. Having arrived in N.Va distraught from our sudden loss but having to attend to our mothers affairs it was recommended to call Direct Cremation Services of VA. From the first phone call made they were very helpful and sympathetic to our situation. Every document that needed signed was preceded with a phone call explaining what was expected. And as horrible as it sounds we had to send Mom home by mail but even that was done with diginity and respect for the family. We received a phone call prior and she was home in less then 24hrs and tracked the whole way. Then weeks preceeding her death we received a follow up text checking in on the family. I want to start off saying this was the 1st death of a close family member, that my husband and myself had to plan. The death was sudden with no insurance so there was no money at the same time Im fighting my own battle with cancer so money is really tight. A special Thank you to Abby she was amazing. She listened and told me not to worry she will handle everything and she did. Everything was done over the phone and computer at my time she made it so easy for my family. This was during cOVID-19 and the Christmas holidays. I will be using them again and will be planning myself so my family doesnt. I do have insurance so it will be easy to go somewhere else but the amount of respect that the staff gave my family words cant express. They treated me so great after my mum passed away I am an only child and this was extremely hard on me with no help from anyone. They keep checking on me every holiday and my mums birthday was today. I cant thank them enough. I highly recommend them to everyone very professional. They truly care about peoples feelings, this was extremely hard for me. But they made it easy for me and checked on me more than family I truly appreciate it.

It is very sad and difficult time when you lose  mom. We chose Direct Cremation Services of Virginia to handle all of my Mothers passings/death/visitations/full body funeral services at our Church, then cremation and preparation for final increment at Arlington Cemetery with my Father. When my Mother Passed on a Sunday 1:50PM there was an employee on call to get her and as we requested, please not to rush getting her so we could spend time with her after passing in her Bedroom. He was very nice, respectful, well dressed and professional when picking up Moms body and taking her from the Nursing home to their Chantilly facility. Then I was contacted by Jordan Wince, the Funeral Director. Since I spoke and met with him he was so helpful, personable, kind, understanding, more of a good friend than anything. I requested him to handle everything and he accepted. He was so understanding with fulfilling all of our plans, visitations, full body Church services and offered us many options along with his opinions when I asked. He was early arriving the Church visitation and services and took charge with entire process. I came a few minutes after he arrived and he even offered to tie my tie for me and did. I talked to almost every one working there: Jordan, JR, Kip, the front desk lady, Nichols, and the owner, John or so. They are all doing a great job. The front desk lady is the best. She went beyond her duty to help us. They wont try to sell extra services. Everything they say are in their price list. Most of pre-work or planning will be on the phone. They did let me come the time I wanted without appointment, to take a look of the facility. The front desk lady gave me a quick tour. JR showed me the casket samples and answered my questions. Kip did the planning over the phone/email. The funeral service for my Mom was done perfectly in a short time frame on the day we wanted without any issues. They called the hospice to push the sign off of the paperwork so that we could do the cremation on the date we wanted. Bill/Contract was sent over by email and paid on line. The death certificate and the urn were completed one day after the cremation. Honest and reliable. No surprise. Greatly recommend

My moms wishes were simple and direct: she wanted to be cremated without a fuss, and then her ashes taken to her favorite beach.I researched a number of crematories from a list given to me by Goodwin House Baileys Crossroads, and selected the cheapest venue. Called them and didnt like the vibe.Next cheapest was Direct Cremation Services. What a difference. They were warm and professional on the phone without being smarmy. You know the kind. They worked seamlessly with Goodwin House to transfer Mom to the crematory. I came by a few days later and sat with a really professional employee who was reassuring, and even a little funny, in an appropriate way. We even hugged at the conclusion of the transaction.Took the Box of Mom through the airport, and to the beach. There were no problems with TSA. Mom made it to her final resting place on what would have been her birthday. Direct Cremation Services made this all happen, and at a very reasonable price.Seamless.

When our Dad passed away, we were looking into cremation services that were affordable. Not only was Direct Cremation Services of Virginia affordable, their service was excellent. JR walked us through the process, was attentive, responsive and sympathetic. He delivered my Dads urn to our door step along with the death certificates instead of asking us to come pick it up. Everything was successfully arranged by email, where Jordan provided fast but caring help, which continued with our in-person meeting for the family viewing.
