Julie is very patient, which is wonderful. She did an amazing job on my wedding dress hem line. It was perfect.My wedding dress was an entire size too big and it is a strapless dress.The problem and reason for the 3 stars is by the last fitting 1 week before my wedding the dress was sliding down and there was major gaping at the bust. Instead of taking it in the bust and modifying the boning she tried to add a cup but it just did not work. It was too tight in the ribcage and too loose in the waist. Thankfully I found someone else who saved my wedding dress.Also, the bustle kept coming undone. I think buttons may have been much better. Everytime I sat down the string would fall off the hook.She lined the dress for me and that turned out well.I am grateful for the perfect hemline as I didnt trip or have any trouble walking on the day of my wedding.

I have short arms and short legs (5’6) so I always need alterations for my clothes. It was by chance that i found Julie online. I called to ask for a quote but she asked me to bring it in instead. Another place quoted me decent price but it was too far away. I went to Julie anyway, and her price was even lower than the other place.I was skeptical because a lot of places do such bad job on my clothes. I dropped off 6 pairs of pants and picked them up a week later. They were perfect and trust me, i am really picky. Trust Julie with all your alterations needs, if she gives you a price that you think is high, pay her because you don’t want someone cheaper to ruin your clothes. Highly highly recommended.

Fantastic Wedding Dress Alterations!! I needed my hem taken in quite a bit in the back and sides (which was difficult due to the design/lacing), along with the lining underneath, and 5 bustles put in. The way the tailor shortened the hem was amazing! You couldnt even tell that she had cut the lacing and re-attached it higher because it was done so well! I researched online and found her due to her good reviews. The best part was, she was the most reasonably priced of all the other tailors I called that had good reviews! She was also personable, patient, and nice. Highly recommend!

J Alterations did a phenomenal job on my wedding dress! I bought it online pre-owned and it needed a lot of work. They cleaned it to perfection and performed a ton of alterations to make it fit like a dream. They were very accommodating and sweet every visit I made. And the price was more than fair! I do not plan on ever getting married again but I will be coming back to Ms. Julie and company for the rest of my alteration needs. Julie is one of the best tailor I have met. She pays attention to details and I am always happy anytime I pick up my clothes. The price you pay is worth it. She had done alterations on my suits and they fit like Well made/ bespoke suits. I have tailors in Hong Kong , trust me I know what I am talking about. Hands down the best shop for your basic to most complicated alterations in the DMV! If youre not picky about your clothes, dont care about the longevity of your garments and could care less about how close to the original your alterations will be completed then this is NOT your place.I am extremely picky and have spent $$$$ on my wardrobe and will not let your average shop touch my clothes. Julie, however, is the only tailor I will work with when it comes to alterations of my bespoke suits and luxury garments (think Thom Browne, Belstaff, Burberry, etc.) If youre going to invest $$$$ on your clothes, why in the world would you take them to a shop that does not understand your style, needs AND the construction of your garments?Gentlemen, trust Julie and her team on your suits! From shortening the sleeves at the shoulder to removing the dreaded collar roll, shes an expert! After some Google searching for locations to get my dress altered, I came upon J’s Alterations. First impression, this location is well maintained and very clean. This business adhered to all COVID-19 safety precautions during my visit. It was extremely easy to communicate with the Julie and set up an appointment to get my wedding dress altered. Upon my arrival, I changed into my dress and stepped up on the mirrored platform for the alterations. The entire process took approximately 15 minutes. I got my dress hemmed a few inches and the bust taken in a bit. It took Julie and her staff about a week or less to alter my wedding dress. I was and am extremely happy with how everything came out.I would highly recommend J’s Alterations for any service involving dry cleaning and alterations.

Julie completed the alterations for my wedding gown. She was professional and kind. She provided advice but was not pushy. The shop is lovely, like a bridal boutique, with an area to stand with three sides of mirrors, to see your whole dress. The gown is beautiful, it fits, and it was ready over a week earlier than I needed. Also, since this was during Covid and it was quite a big job, she gave me a beautiful cloth mask. I cannot attest to cost as I did not price compare.

This place is so incredible!! I got married the last October and I looked amazing in my $500 dress thanks to J Alterations. I bought my dress online without even trying it on. When I first received it, it was baggy and didnt fit in the right places. I took it to J Alterations in August and they helped me do the first fitting. I lost some weight and went back in September and did the second fitting. They did everything so fast that my dress was still finished way before the wedding. Price is extremely reasonable and turn around is so fast. The lady who works with me is very nice and understood all my concerns. She even helped me look better in the bust area by altering the dress (I am significantly lacking in that department lol). The store is very nice and has changing rooms and mirrors. It almost looks like a bridal shop with the way the mirrors are set up. My mom got her dress done there too and it was finish very fast at a reasonable price. I cannot recommend this place enough! I lost about 25 pounds and all of my suits were too big on me. They were still in great shape so I didn’t want to invest in new suits. Julie is a miracle worker!! She has transformed my suits and sport coats to my new size and they look great. I have also taken in dress shirts and she has made them a custom fit. Julie is excellent! She got my wedding dress altered perfectly in one fitting and I took my dress back after my wedding for them to clean.

I brought my wedding dress to be hemmed and slightly taken in at the waist, also had a bunch of bustles put in. My dress came out perfect! She even used some of the extra beads and pieces that come with the dress to add to the bustles she put in, I was pleasantly surprised and it adds to the dress! She was also very accommodating given this pandemic, I have also purchased face masks from her and she’s also given me a couple mask freebies as well for making an appointment.I’ve read other reviewers saying that she’s more “expensive” than other tailors. I’m not sure who they’re comparing to, but I would much rather pay a little extra and have my dress done right than to save a few dollars elsewhere and risk ruining my dress. She was great to work, knows what she doing, and overall had a great experience. I will make sure my fiancé goes to her to have his suit fitted, because I know she’ll get it done right!

My experience getting a suit and shirt altered by Julie was simply exceptional. First, she walked me through the whole process of how the suit should fit and what was realistically manageable. Second, she quoted me fair prices on all the work to be done. I dropped the clothes off on a Wednesday and told her I would need the suit in a week but the shirt on Saturday since I was attending a wedding that day. To my surprise and delight she had everything done on Saturday, and had done a few extra alterations to the jacket as well. I am glad to have finally found such a skilled and professional tailor in Julie, and she has my business from here on out.

Had a very positive experience with this tailoring service. I needed a suit tailored as it was no longer fitting me due to it being too large for me. I decided to give this place a shot and was given some quick service. The tailor came up to me and asked me what I wanted to which I gave a brief description of what I wanted and she test fitted the suit to look like how Id like it to look.The tailor took a week to finish the work and I came back to try on the suit. It looks significantly better than when I was first put it on. Definitely loved the change to my suit, would recommend and go again.Edit: Forgot to mention that this suit was needed for a weeding I was going to and she gave me a date. I asked for an earlier date, to which she gave me an earlier date I could pick up the suit. Shes definitely flexible with deadlines as long as they are reasonable.

I just had 2 important alterations done within the last couple of weeks by this business: a mother-of-the-bride dress and a wedding guest dress. The dresses had some tricky features (soutache lace overlays, sequins etc.) and the alterations were performed in a manner that improved the fit and yet did not disrupt the detailing on the garments. Im very happy with the professionalism, attention to detail, cost and the fact that the items were ready exactly when Julie said they would be. I will continue to return to this business.

When I needed any minor alteration, I would always just toss my garment to people who do alteration at the dry cleaner. I didnt really mind until I realized that my very last alternation was just too unprofessionally done that I wanted someone who knows what they are doing.I found J Alternation and without a doubt, I had to go with it (Look at the 5-star reviews!). I stopped by an hour before closing. We had a small talk while I was there. Even though J Alteration has opened not so long ago, Julie herself has 18 years of experience in garment alteration. She is super sweet too!It was very high quality alteration for sure. It was just as what I expected. Im so glad that now I know where to go. It was worth of every penny that I spent. Julies work was stellar. I came to her needing alterations for two dresses (both long gowns for weddings). Both of them needed quite an amount of tailoring. Ive been looking for a good tailor for a long time, and Im happy to report I finally found one. My first experience here was in November, when I took my suit in for some alterations ahead of an event 1 week away. She made suggestions for a better fit that I hadnt even thought of, and despite the number of alterations and short time frame, it was ready with time to spare. Since then Ive taken in my pants that had hems that had fallen out, and they were quickly repaired and have survived the test of time. I cant recommend J Alterations enough!

She did a great job tailoring my dress shirts. She brought in the sleeves 1/4 inch and reduced the amount of fabric in the gut area for a much better fit.

Let me first say I am coming from experiences of taking pants to be hemmed to the dry cleaners to have them come back shorter than we pinned them, and the stitches so tight, they puckered along the hem. So when I had two 63 curtains and needed two more only to find out they were no longer available, I realized I would have to buy the 84 curtains and have them hemmed. The curtains had a detached lining, making this a more complex job. Imagine my trepidation bringing in two long curtains with the one short one, saying, Please make these two look exactly like this one. I really had my fingers crossed. Not only was this done with a smile, but they were absolutely perfect. I was thoroughly pleased. I didnt really expect it, so this was the highlight of my day. If anyone needs anything done RIGHT, come here. You wont be disappointed.
