My realtor (Melissa Roterdam) was very unprofessional in handling the move-out process of the apartment I was renting. I told her that I would speak to my roommate about a good time to do a walk-through of the apartment for check out but that I thought sometime Saturday afternoon would probably be best. When I went solidified a time with my roommate that worked for him to do the walk-through (5 PM that Saturday), I relayed the message to her. She said that I had had already agreed to 1 do the walk-through at 1 PM which was never agreed upon. When the walk-through took place, she told my roommate and I that the apartment was in great shape and that she did not see anything wrong with it that result in us having money deducted from out security deposits. We took very good care of the apartment and made sure it was thoroughly cleaned. We gave her our keys and thought the process was completed. The following Monday, we receive a text from Melissa that says we need to get the coffee table and desk that we left in the apartment out or we will be charged a fee to dispose of it. We were told previously that the owner liked the way we had the furniture layout of the apartment and nothing was said during the walk-through. Then we are told the water softner is empty, and we will be charged for cost of labor and materials to replace it. There was no mention of adding salt to the water softner in the lease agreement, and we were not even made aware that was something we needed to do. We were also told that the furnace filter needed to be replaced and that we would be charged cost of material and labor for that as well. We were given no opportunity to replace the salt, change the filter, or remove the furniture. We had already returned our keys. This was very unprofessional and a terrible way to treat tenants who took very good care of the apartment.
