After having a negative experience at another vet after moving to MN, we chose to go with VCA Chanhassen & I wish we had chosen them in the first place. They have been great with communication, which has been made difficult during these COVID times. They also give you plenty of time to ask all your questions and give you thorough thought out answers. We will continue to keep them as our vet for our cat.

Loved our experience. We were able to get our dog in on the same day. The staff was super friendly, waiting area and rooms were super nice and clean. It is a little pricey but, they treated my dog so nicely. I wasnt sure how she would do since we had recently adopted her. I will definitely going back.

Could NOT ask for better!!Called tonight for my emergency- a large dog attacked my small dog!! Many vets were over booked this evening...including another office that told me I would have to wait in my car (COVID policy) for 3-4 hours (it was already 5:30pm) until they MIGHT be available to take care of us. The staff and doctor here were very caring and personable. Made you feel like they care not only about your pet, but make sure you feel taken care of also. Very friendly, helpful, accommodating! Dr. Sell took care of the injuries right away. If there is a wait...it is worth it! Thank you! Thank you! to Dr. Sell and all of the staff there! In a time when everyone is dealing with some kind of heartache, you really appreciate those who continue to be a help and show sincere kindness!!

Dr. Jennifer Mann and the entire team went above and beyond to make sure our dog Brooks experience the least stress possible during his yearly check up and dental cleaning. She took time to call me the week of his appointment to listen to my concerns and come up with a plan. I highly recommend them!

I had to say good bye to my pet of 14 years and the staff & Dr were available the day I called and scheduled me to come in assist with the dying process. They validated my decision, supported me and gave me the time I needed to say goodbye to my beloved dog/ baby/friend. I would highly recommend this facility as they care for the animal and the owners needs.

My boy tore a paw pad. I had to get it checked out. They told me that I could bring him in for an exam but if anything needed to be done, they wouldn’t have time today. I said that’s fine. It needs to be examined. Within minutes of him going in they called me and said, at his size, it was too big of tear to wait and got right down to stitching him up. They made time to make sure it wouldn’t get any worse.

We had a difficult situation with our dog, I called because our vet didnt have an opening right away, which I needed. They were able to get me in the same morning. They were so kind and their COVID protocol was amazing! The vet tech took time with my dog, who is anxious and afraid of strangers and by the time he came back out, he was nestled in her arms!! Then, then the office took time to fill out a report for me, called my other vet to get what they needed, call all the other appropriate people, and sent me a follow up. The vet himself took time to come out to my car and talked with me and gave me such a great peace of mind! So appreciate their professionalism and kindness!

Truly CANNOT recommend the VCA Chan Vet any longer. Absolutely disappointed with the end of life care and treatment we received this past month with our cat. I am not even sure where to start. Our cat was 15, not terribly old. She declined fast. My husband brought her in on 11.14.2020 to get looked at - with COVID you are not allowed into the room. So he went home. we live close. Not more than 10 minutes later the office called to say to pick up - thatll be $206. She is fine. What? No she was not fine. She was walking like a drunkin sailor. Fast forward a few days to her death. We live 2 blocks from the Vet office. My husband has the cat on his lap for the short drive. She nips him on his thumb barely breaking the skin. She is scared. So are we. Sad. The staff are asking questions, we signed the cremation and euthanasia forms, paid. The usual for euthanasia of a pet. Then they ask if she has bitten anyone? My husband said she just did on the way here because she was in the car and scared - the response - we cant put her down until you pay $195 for a rabies test. What? We had the option of keeping our suffering cat alive for 2 weeks or giving them our CC info right then to put our cat down. It was an awful feeling. The company that does the cremation and the vet are two different companies. We had already paid and signed the paperwork for her to be euthanized. ( $235+) Our cat has been an indoor cat her entire life. She was fixed and declawed when she was under a year old. ( dont judge - our apartment building requires it ) The Vet does a paw print imprint, it, it comes with the cremation. They bring it back in the box. It is not our cats imprint. The paw print clearly has claws. AND, the clay is completely dry. My husband is distraught already. I am mad. I could not keep my mouth shut. I muttered, that is not her paw. Who does that? Anyway, I still have that and I will be bringing that back. Tacky that they even did it and left the instructions in the box that say the clay takes 24-48 hours to dry. The Vet still has our cats ashes. My husband refuses to pay $195 for the rabies test they sprung on us we were putting our cat down. It may be state law to test for cat that will be living and running around and active. I get it. Or, it may be MN State Law period. But, testing on a cat that bit an owner and the cat is being put down AND has been and indoor cat her entire life? Incredibly useless. Hurtful. Minnesota has no state wide law that requires rabies vaccinations. There is state law pertaining to rabies vaccination and certification. From the UofM: There is a $20.00 fee per animal and a $10.00 fee per accession payable to the University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) for rabies testing by the direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) test. Why does VCA charge $195?

My first two routine visits with this vet were good. Once I had an emergency situation, the communication fell short. I was getting different stories from different vets about blood platelet issues. The clinic removed (against my advice) a bandage from a broke dewclaw (to not cause infection, understandable) with the expectation that I could keep it intact for a week and a half before they could perform surgery (high energy 4 yr old black lab). I felt the doctor could have discussed better option for my specific dog. By 4 pm that same day he had broken that dewclaw again and had to be taken back into the vet. they wrapped it back up and wanted to charge me $40. (I had paid them $230 that morning)The clinic was booked up for surgeries, Understandable but I would have appreciated if they told me we cant get to him soon enough you might want to call around and see if you can get in sooner else ware. I took the initiative and called around, I was able to get him into another facility for surgery within 2 days.Every conversation with the Veterinarians and some of the techs, I ended the calls with all these questions and concerns. I never felt like I was fully informed. They never advised me when to take off one of his bandages or if I should come back in, they never advised me what my plan was for my dog the night before surgery (food, water, meds, ect).If anything this experience taught me how to be a strong advocate for my dog. thank you for that. I choose to vote with my dollars and I will not be using this vet going forward and I will not be recommending this vet to family and friends.

I have nothing but positive comments to say about the folks at VCA Chanhassen, including staff and Veterinarians. The entire team was professional and compassionate from day 1, all the way to 18 years when we finally had to put our beloved dog down. I would recommend VCA Chanhassen to all my friends.

My dad and mom who usually need us to help with things like appointments booked an appointment for their small family dog. This company decided to send a card telling my parents that they were no longer welcomed after they overcharged them for services. There are plenty of places to bring your pet. Please don’t bring your pet here. They do not respect animals or the owners of the animals.I repeat avoid this company who most likely pays for good reviews.

I am not a review writer, but I feel that I need to now. These guys are the best, I have not had a bad experience with them. They have changed over the last couple of years and show you the charges before they do anything and I have never had a problem when I discuss and decide not to give my dogs certain shots. I did try another vet because they were cheaper, but they pushed on tests and played the scare game and it ended up costing me more than if I had gone to VCA. I am writing the review now after years of going here because they have never not gotten me in when I have had emergencies. I have two great danes and have had a couple of emergencies and I have never been turned away. They have stayed after hours and call the next day to check on my girls. The Veterinarians are open and responsive and take time with me and the girls. The techs and front desk are so caring and kind. I cant say enough about my experiences and how positive they have been. They know my dogs. They take Care Credit which is great because not many offices do. I have read many posts on facebook about people who cant get their dogs into a vet for days for some pretty serious issues, so it has made me appreciate VCA even more.

Yes, yes they are very expensive. If VCA reads this you probably shouldnt even think about raising prices for at least 10 years. You might think you need to for x,y and z reasons but do not. You are at the tip of being priced out of the market and may even be beyond it.However, we go there because of our experience with a different vet and we wanted the best and I do believe these guys are one of the best. The conversation between my wife and I every year about seeking someone else for price reasons makes me take away a star.

I came in looking for advice on how to help my senior dog who had a sharp decline in health. I didnt really receive any advice and was told he was in great shape for a dog his age. They said he needed a ton of different vaccine boosters even though he wasnt due for rabies for 6 months and didnt socialize with other dogs or spend time outside. I left bewildered and out quite a bit of money. I sought a second opinion from another vet who turned out to be much more thorough; they found a tumor in my dogs abdomen the size of a loaf of bread. I regret going to this VCA.

We were able to get in same day. Prices were kind of high. We used their new customer coupon for a free office visit. They only applied to the one pet of the two pets. The coupon said it would apply for both of them so we ended up getting overcharged $50 for the visit. They didnt seem to understand that the reason we didnt have every treatment recommended by them for our animals was because of cost. They proposed over $1200 in tests and dental work. When we had our dog tested for an infection the vet came back and said Im glad you let us do it. Its not a matter of letting you do it, its a matter of not having the money in the bank account. Its the same reason I dont run to the doctor for myself that often.Place was clean and nice. Probably wont be heading back to this location. Need some place that is more understanding of financial constraints.

This is a great and caring place. However, it is expensive, i agree with other reviews that there is mark up on all the products and high cost of services. I would ask for the cost breakdown upfront. At the same time the vets are good and check out pets thoroughly and customer service is great!

I am a licensed veterinarian, but I left practice to pursue a career in federal service. This means I need a a place that I trust implicitly with the care of my pets, as I do not have access to the medications and equipment I used to. I choose VCA Chanhassen Animal Hospital to help me take the best care of my pets I can. I genuinely like and respect the doctors and staff at VCA Chanhassen and they practice current, top quality medicine. I strongly recommend this hospital. ~Dr. Carissa Haverly

We went in for a very specific reason, that we had captured on video.. vet was very good with our pet and our concerns with that matter. Which is the only reason we were there. During examination vet made us aware of health condition of our pet. Head to tail which I appreciate. I stated to only update shots as needed. As prior reviewer have said its about cost and like all vets they have no control. Its not that we dont care for our animal there is no way we can afford to pay. I understand they need to make money happy to pay for the appointment. When we went to check out we were charged for testing ear wax ($40) and a blood test for heart worm ($60) even though I was not advised of the test costs and did not consent to them. As I said before.. I instructed them to update his shots as needed. THATS IT. Anyways advice to those who use this vet. Tell them clearly I want to know what you are doing before you do it , the cost associated with that, in writing that I sign off on otherwise I am not paying it. Not happy with my bill. I strongly believe I should at the very least be reimbursed for a $40 ear wax test. OMG what a ripoff. My wife wanted to give the local vet a chance but well be looking elsewhere after this appointment. My advice to Chan vet is just what I said... do your examination put in writing what your treatment plan and costs are for each item and have a owner sign-off. Did enjoy the Vet and staff, kind and helpful. From owner of Obi.
