Rent truck weeks ago, then they wait until less than 24hrs to tell you theres no truck for 2 weeks within 350miles. You call multiple times and they tell you they wont say till 24hrs. A company of this size should be able to know theres no truck within 350miles for two weeks less than 24hrs in advance. Never do buisness with any U-HAUL franchise. Im sure the owners of this franchise are good people, but the corporate office in charge of booking is horrible and you should never trust U-HAUL

I had a really Great experience with Jae!! He answered questions and he was very thorough and straight forward! He set expectations and followed through! Very rare that you find someone that takes appreciation in their job and exceeds expectation at the same time!! If you need anything moving wise, I”d call this location first!! His employees made my experience worthwhile. I was terrified at first because I’ve never dealt with a trailer or hitch before!! Jae even fixed my hitch for me!!

Had a reservation scheduled for July 30th at 10am. They cancelled my reservation time in less than 24 hours at 6pm on July 29th. They told me the next truck wouldnt be available until August 10th. I had booked my truck over a month in advance.It seems like they are cancelling all one-way rentals right now because they overbooked. I have talked with at least 2 other people whove had their long distance reservations cancelled at the last minute.

They called and cancelled on me for a Ubox 3 days beforehand and told me they ran out.. I made my reservation back in May, it is the end of the month at July now. I have to find a new storage place last minute now. This company is ridiculous. Rent/Store somewhere else.

Call and confirm that they have your equipment! They just cancelled my U-Haul ubox 5 days before my move and Im scrambling to find movers. I reserved at another location and called to confirm they had my ubox in stock and they said they dont even do u-boxes at that location! Moving with them is a complete mess.

After a three day trip with a full size car tow trailer, I pulled in to learn they cbarge a $20 unhitching fee. I wasnt happy with this as I already had to deal with a blown tire on the trailer during my trip. They said I could do it myself for free, when I said that I begrudgingly agreed to pay the $20, it took three of the workers to figure out how to de-rig the car from the trailer.

They put you on hold for 15 to 20 min at a time without even trying to find out what your question might be and if it could possibly just have been answered with a yes or no.When you go there to get service it seems like half the employees are just standing around talking while customers wait in line.They seem very uninterested in any customer service whatsoever

They totally rescued me. Top notch helpers.Long story, but on graduation day I had rented a truck elsewhere, had prepaid it in full, but got the hours wrong at an unaffiliated store, so my truck was locked and I could not get it, and the other owner who had closed 45 minutes earlier refused to come to help out. I reached this store via the UHaul 800 number, and they came and got me about 35 minutes before graduation, got me a truck at the same price, and basically saved me from both missing my daughters college graduation, and some extra hotel and rental costs.I cannot speak highly enough of the two gentlemen (cant recall names, was perhaps Steve and Larry), they totally understand customer care.

I requested for a hitch to be installed at this location. I was instructed to arrive at 10 AM and that my car would be ready at 1 PM. This was not the case.y car was not available until 5 PM. When I called to get the status of my vehicle. I was placed on hold. The service at this location was the worst !

I was thoroughly impressed with u-haul moving and storage at university avenue. I reserved a trailer and when I went to pick it up we realized that a fuse had been blown in my vehicle and the trailers lights would not work because of it. Steven (I think that was his name) spent a good 30 minutes of his time testing all of the fuses in the car. We ended up having to take it to get it quickly fixed at our dealership, but Steven really did try to fix it and figure out the problem when he couldve just left it up to us. He was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process. I definitely recommend their services!

I came in knowing nothing about trailer on my vehicle for my upcoming move, Johnathan went above and beyond and taught me everything there is to know about using trailer in general, got me everything I needed and showed me how to install them and everything. I made the reservation on the phone I specifically said no insurance but they added it anyway even though they asked weather or not I wanted it. The fact that the person on the phone was rude when I asked why my card was charged $100 and no one told me. I ended up paying $45 for a $19 supposed car rental that I only had for an hour max

I am a regular renter at the U-Haul on University Avenue. In fact, I usually rent anywhere from 2-5 times per year. Ive rented both trucks and trailers from this location and have never had a bad experience. In fact, things have always been above and beyond great.I would recommend other users make use of the option to perform an online check in the day you are to rent. That will allow you to make sure everything is in order before you go to get your rental.When I got a new vehicle, they were also great about helping me get set up to tow again. I really didnt know the first thing about what I needed to buy. They make it easy and explained everything.(Yes, Im lazy and just copied my Yelp review, but it said all that needed to be said.)

I wish I could negative vote. Got called 2 hours before pickup to be told I cant have the truck I made a RESERVATION for for the amount of time I asked for. Someone else has already reserved it I was told. Then told they can give me a 15 foot truck for the regular price. I asked how that is helping me. Asked for Milagros adjustment since it was 11 foot smaller than my reservation. Got told I cant bully them to get what I want so I hung up.

NEVER EVER USE U-HAUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I reserved a truck online over a month before I planned on moving. I got confirmation that everything was all set and to come to the U-haul location and pick up the truck the day we are going to move. Well little did I know U-Haul reserves thousands of trucks online and expects 95% of them to cancel (we were NOT one who planned to cancel). Finally its the day of the big move. I get a call one hour, YES 1 HOUR before we are suppose to pick up the truck ON MOVING DAY! U-Haul said there was nothing they could do besides give us a $50 refund which they never gave us. I called later about the refund and they said we declined the refund (which was not true). Long story short we never got a truck or the refund from U-Haul. We did nothing wrong. U-Haul SUCKS and the staff is Horrible. DO NOT use there service. I recommend anywhere else but here.

Wait time was horrible, they do not tell you you’ll have to come in for more paper work. How they do there gas is HORRIBLE! They tell you too fill up 7/8 no problem on there paper they make it look like the big line inbetween full and half is the park you have to be at. Then tell you you need to fill it up more of pay almost $15 more NEED TO FIX YOUR PAPERS! not renting for the day here again.

I wish I could give 0 stars. This place is absolutely horrid. I needed to have a trailer hitch installed on my car for my bike rack. Unfortunately, this was one of the only places nearby to get it done. I scheduled an appointment well in advance, but they called last minute and left a message informing me that my appointment had been rescheduled. Didnt even bother to check if I was okay with the date/time they had rescheduled it for. Whatever. I accommodated my schedule and showed up early to my new appointment time. The only thing I needed to do was drop off my car, hand my keys to someone and leave to go back to work while they installed the hitch. Slowest, most horrible customer service ever!!!!! 10x worse than any DMV. For more than an hour, I couldnt get an employee to make eye contact with me, let alone help me. A huge line of people was forming behind me, and as the minutes dragged on I started to fear that I wouldnt make it back to campus on time to teach my next scheduled class. I nearly had a full blown panic attack in this place. When I was finally assisted, the employee looked straight up stoned. Just totally soulless and dead in the eyes. I barely made it back in time to teach, sweating profusely because I had been forced to practically run back to campus in the summer heat while my car stayed at UHAUL to be fitted with the hitch. The customer service here is appalling. I will NEVER go back to this place. If I have to pay more or even drive to another state I will do it just to avoid this place.

Terrible customer service. None of the front desk workers had any answers to my questions. They’re obviously not trained to know anything about any of their services. When I then dealt with the manager, he was very condescending and rude. He acted angry that I did not already know every detail of the service I was inquiring about. Would not recommend.

This facility deserves five negative stars for service. If you are lucky enough, you will wait 3 hours to get your truck with the efficient service from the staff there. If you are not as lucky, you card will charged $40 bucks a day when they forgot to check in your return records into their stupid system (always down) and never return the amount back to your card. Both of them happened to me and I will never step into this place anymore!!!

Pathetic. But truly depends on whose working, I believe. I am disabled and have trouble balancing myself, so standing can be difficult. I was in line behind one person. (In line)! As soon as that person was done, cashier closed her register. She bragged to the other two employees, how she got several hundred dollar bills on a sale, and was waving them around. Really with customers present. I worked in Retail Mgement for 23 years. That would of FIRED ME on spot! Then I step over to another checkout behind one customer, she gets done, I step up to counter and the cashier walks off WITHOUT a word to me. REALLY!! I WAITED about 5 minutes, she didnt come back, and I walked OUT! I FOUND the best way to rent is on line, but unfortunately, I still have to go in to get the rental. CUSTOMER SERVICE isnt what it used to be in SOME places!

I was told if I brought the truck back on 1/4 I would receive a $30 credit off my entire bill. I bring the truck back with 1/4 and they charge me full price. I offer to bring the receipt if my gas purchase because someone obviously lied and they still stand by their lie. This is ridiculous and false advertising. If anyone is offered this discount again, be present when they check-in your truck or take a picture of the dashboard because this store is untrustworthy. Ill never use them Again and make sure my friends dont either!!!!

This was the first time I rent a u-haul truck, the asian guy there was quite rude to me (I am an asian student). I told him this was my first time to rent a uhaul truck, I didnt know how to turn on the driving mode. He walked me to my truck and told me to jump onto the truck, then he shut the door really hard while I had not put my foot in place. The door hit my foot which was quite painful. Honestly he must did it on purpose because he shut it right in time it could hit me but not that hard. That attitude was fine but quite annoying to think about, like why? Another guy was nice to me though.

NEVER GO THERE!!!!!!! These uhaul staff and the manager at 306 E Univ ave are ridiculous. I have reserved a truck for a date and had everything packed up. When I went there on that day, they told me they didnt put the reservation for me, staff made a mistake and they just told me to go home and wait (the very stupid staff and manager were laughing at the other stupid staff about the mistake she made but not helping me out), 4 days later, still nothing I went there again, they totally forgot about me.So I had to pay 1260 DOLLARS rent for an extra month for my apartment since I couldnt move on time. I went to another company to get a truck in 5 days later. IF YOU DONT WANT ANY TROUBLE IN MOVING, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, HONESTLY!!!!! THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU. PLEASE LISTEN TO MY ADVISE.

Customer service was pathetic. I called the local number and ended up with someone in a call center who had NO CLUE about my previous 3 calls. I called with questions about my rental and they told me a representative from your location will call you back within 30 minutes. Three hours later I still cant get anyone on the phone. If there was any other place to rent a car trailer in the Champaign Urbana area I would gladly pay more to avoid U-Haul. This location is a joke at best.To add to the saga; I just came back from going to pick up the car trailer I had reserved....the nice gentleman put his personal cell phone down long enough to tell me they dont have one and that I should have made a reservation......I have a conformation number in my hand and he looks it up and says oh well we still dont have one. If you can move any other way I strongly advise avoiding U-Haul at all costs.

We rented a 10 foot truck from you. You have the worst csv I have seen in awhile we live in Elk Grove Village were we wear soposed to pick it up. Well, first of all, I made a reservation for a Ubox and they cancelled it without my consent because my mother called and cancelled her Ubox rental and they just saw the same last name and wiped everything without checking, I think.So the day I have to move, I call to make sure they have everything organized, and theyre like Uhhh we dont have one for you. It takes them half an hour to tell me I can have the model Ubox which is inside the facility. Clearly, harder to move furniture into that.I give up. I take it with a grain of salt, even though the service was terrible and the manager slow and indifferent. This afternoon, while Im up in Michigan, I get a text saying my Ubox payment is overdue and it most certainly is NOT. I PAID FOR TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCE. The only thing the woman told me was that it might be an automated message, but they not only contacted me but also my mother, which was unnecessary. I kept all my receipts where it shows my bill isnt due until July 17, but now Im trapped out of state wondering if theyre going to dump my belongings or what!Edit: 7/22/2014A week ago, I came in to discuss with the manager why the website wouldnt let me pay online. He looked up my information and said, due to the many problems Id been put through, he would waive my last months fee. Well, I check my account today, wondering why it looks like I have way less than I budgeted to, and there it is: Uhaul automatically withdrew payment, again, even after the manager said he over-rode the system, even after I had been through this before in June.So I go there, wait in line for half an hour, only to find that the manager isnt there and I have to come back at four oclock. The woman working the counter was extremely nice and as helpful as she could be, but this is still a major issue. I mean, whats going to happen when my Ubox rental is over? Is this computer system just going to keep charging me every month? Am I going to have to keep going in person every time I see theyve drafted without my consent? This is getting absolutely ridiculous.Edit: 4/29/2017Because I could not find any services available on the weekend August of 2016, I literally had to use Uhaul again. There were no other options. Not only were they busy and short staffed on a Sunday, they also made me wait over 3 hours for our storage box to be unloaded from a shipping container because they could only have one person inside at the register and the staff member trained to use a forklift was busy putting a hitch on someones car. They knew in advance we would be unloading our Ubox that day based on the reservations. Service has definitely improved but whoever is in management isnt sufficiently staffing for high volume days. A move that would have taken us maybe 3 hours at the max turned into over 7 hours, half of that waiting. If you want a stressful and exhausting experience (and maybe even a sunburn), sure, go with Uhaul.Edit 5/4/2017Due to our apartment being condemned, we had to last minute move everything within 49 hours. Everything went smoothly this time. Service was great and they were all personable. Well staffed, no longer storing Uboxes in freight containers (which takes forever to load and unload). Seems like there is serious systemic improvement. Based on my experience today I am comfortable going back again. It is likely best to move during awful weather or slow seasons, though. As we have found.6/27/2017Moved again because we bought a house...and came back a week later to rent a van. In and out quickly, good service, very organized. Seems like so long as youre moving on a weekday and they staff appropriately, you wont have a problem. Im really glad they hired some great new folks and started troubleshooting.

Im so frustrated with uhaul. Im supposed to move this weekend and reserved the truck weeks ago and just got a call, 3 days before Im supposed to move, stating that there isnt a truck available until 4 pm. Ive reserved movers for that morning and cannot change that. Im so furious that uhaul is letting me know this 4 days before our move. There is nothing I can do regarding the movers and have to cancel them now.The woman on the phone basically told me I had zero options, unless I wanted to drive to Danville to pick up a truck. This is incredibly unacceptable. Im paying uhaul for a service, they should be the ones bringing a truck from Danville to Champaign, not me.Now Im calling around to other companies to see if I can get a truck for Saturday morning so maybe I can still keep my reservation with my movers.Awful, awful customer service.

After some moderately negative experiences with this location (fuel gauge level in the rental truck not matching what they claimed as the starting amount, for example), I gave them another try this past weekend. I rented a truck 8 hours to use in town, and returned in plenty of time with the fuel gauge at the level I had received it. I had driven less than 10 miles in total. I received an email receipt charging me, in addition to the standard rental charges, over $50 in fuel charges plus a $30 service fee. The receipt, although it indicated that I had driven less than 10 miles, claimed that I had used over 10 gallons of gas. This was either an incredibly careless error or a malicious act on the part of the employees of the Champaign U-Haul location.I disputed the charges successfully with U-Haul customer service at the national level, but it has taken several stressful phone calls, and Im still waiting for the charges to actually be removed. I may consider using U-Haul again in the future if there is no other convenient option, but I will certainly never be a customer at the University Ave. location again. If you do, Id recommend taking pictures of the fuel gauge with the time/odometer included, saving all your gas receipts, etc. to protect yourself.

Reserved a rental and was in the store for 3 1/2 hours with an infant and small child to be told that there was a glitch in there computer system and there was no way we could be helped. It has been a disaster and has made me have to make two trips costing me an aditional 400 dollars to make the move.

I reserved a Truck and the reservation was confirmed, but when I went to pick up my truck they told me that they dont have a truck available. When I asked for the 50$ reservation guarantee, they kicked me out of the store and threatened to call the police. Aside from the fact that a reservation means nothing to them their behavior was very irresponsible and rude.

Slow and sloppy service overall. Had a U-box reserved and if I hadnt gone back to lock my U-box I wouldnt have noticed that the actual box Im using isnt the one thats in their system.
