I adore the vets and techs and staff of New Hope Animal Hospital. I have been coming to their clinic for 8 years, since they first opened and I had an old cat who needed kidney care. Everyone has always gone out of their way to be welcoming, friendly and caring about my pets and me. Never a long wait, prompt service. Supremely kind care when old cat Gracie passed away. Now I have two rambunctious 1 year old kittens, and we just had their annual check-up. Again it was quick, professional, kind and an all-around fantastic experience. I recommend New Hope to everyone I meet. Thank you all for taking great care of my pet family.

This place is absolutely wonderful. We have had the pleasure of working with several of the vets at New Hope and they have all been wonderful. Dr. Justin Nelson is our primary vet there and to say he is absolutely amazing is one of the hugest understatements I have ever made. I highly recommend Dr. Nelson and the entire team at New Hope to my clients, friends, and families. Every single person that I have encountered at New Hope has been wonderful. Every staff member is impressive and attentive and makes you feel like the most important person and my fur baby is treated like a rock star there. I have had dogs my entire life (age 50) and I have encountered many amazing vets in my life, but not to this caliber. I cannot say enough great things about them and I am not one to make recommendations lightly. - Robbie

About a year ago I took my cat in for what i suspected to be ear mites and to have her ears cleaned out as she wouldnt let me do it myself. I was extremely disappointed when I realized that they didnt clean her ears. They simply told me it was fleas, gave me medicine and sent us on our way. This time around was MUCH better. They actually listened to me. They cleaned her ears very well, double checked her for ticks, and also provided me with flea medicine AND ear drops for my baby. 10/10 service that Im very happy with and I feel was a HUGE improvement from what I experienced last year.I will say that the wait time was quite long, but I expected that as a walk in. I called yesterday to ask about emergency hours and thats when they informed me of the walk in hours and also told me that the wait time as a walk in could be hours long. When I came in this morning, they simply told me that there was only 2 people ahead of me and that it might be awhile. Which again, was fine by me because I was expecting to wait awhile. After about an hour of waiting, I heard them tell the person next to me that there was also 2 people ahead of them as well. It really seems as though theres 2 people ahead of you is a very generic response in an attempt to ease customers minds about the wait time.I noticed a lot of bad reviews about the wait time which is the only reason Im mentioning it myself. My own personal opinion is that I think there should be a little more honesty in that area of communication (maybe saying it could take a few hours instead of theres 2 people ahead and it may be awhile,) so that if customers decide they cant wait for an hour or more, they have the option to go somewhere else if they feel the need to.

I brought my 13 year old Mini Schnauzer in Lexi as a walk in she wasnt feeling well. They came out to the car and retrieved her within 10 minutes of me being there. After examination it was decided that my little girl wasnt going to make it and the doctor and staff made the process as easy as they could and were very caring. Two days later I brought my other 13 year old Schnauzer in and she had met the same situation. The staff and doctors at New Hope were caring and loving to my babys. They also found the cancer in my chow/golden retrievers leg and I was able to save her life because of them. I am grateful for the loving and compassionate staff at New Hope and I thank them.

Brought our cat in because of a severe allergic reaction to an unknown irritant causing him to scratch is face bloody. New Hope prescribed an oral antihistamine and antibiotic. I had to fight with our poor cat twice a day to give him meds. Went in three times because they were having no effect. Ended up giving oral liquid steroids for more than a week again with no improvement. We then went to another vet that administered strong steroid and antibiotic shots and ear treatment. We saw improvement within hours and he is now healing. New Hope’s treatments were not only ineffective and costly but they lead to me subjecting my cat to what must have felt like torture to him twice a day. He still won’t trust me now. New Hope staff exhibited very little concern and offered no meaningful solutions. Will probably not go back.

I took Rowdy, our new (8 year old) rescue dog, in for his wellness visit. We tried to go to another vet first, but Rowdy freaked out and snapped at them. They did prescribe some pills to help him relax, but decided to try a different building/doctor for his visit. He took his relaxing pills, and we got right into a room to see Dr. Lake. Our visit was urgent but not an emergency but they greeted us at the car right away, took care of Hudson inside, sent us home with meds to help him feel better and were kind, compassionate, professional and efficient. I felt their charges were more than reasonable and got good feedback from other clients who have used them waiting in the parking lot for their pets. They are located on New Hope and 183A right behind Whole Foods, so pretty convenient too! Dr Amanda Brown was great with me and our dog! Thought I should take the time to share something positive. 🙂

Uncaring, no empathy, and sorry were closed mentality. We changed vets for this place 6 months ago because our previous vet of 26 years had been bought out by a national chain and had lost the personal touch. We no longer felt known by our vet. At New Hope, we completed the annual checkup, plus vaccines and two ear infection appts between April and July. This past Friday (9/17/21) we NEEDED our vet. Our 13 year old, 84 lb Golden Retriever could not walk. The vets would not see us and would not talk to us on the phone. We were given 3 emergency vet clinics instead. No emergency vet hospital had room or the ability to see our dog. No luck anywhere all day Saturday. Sunday morning, desperate, I called New Hope begging as an established client, to see a vet because we knew we would have to put our beloved dog down. As cold and unempathetic as she could be, the receptionist told me wed have to wait outside for 4 hours to see anyone. I asked her to reiterate that we would have to wait outside in the heat with a dog that could not walk for 4 hours for us to put our dog down. Without missing a beat, she stated the exact same thing verbatum. That was it. Our dog was put to sleep today by a clinic that made room for us. We will never bring any other future pet to New Hope and will not recommend them to anyone.

I would say this vet hospital is alright for routine care and scheduled visits. Nothing to rant and rave about, but no reason to find care elsewhere if you have a healthy pet. However, recently I have been to New Hope for two different end of life visits unfortunately. Neither of them were handled properly. The first one was when I went with a friend to euthanize her dog. This was not my pet, so I won’t go into detail, but I will say the staff were not prepared for the visit and it was very disappointing. The second one was only one week later when I noticed my cat had swallowed a toy. She needed to be seen right away and after calling New Hope and 6 other vet hospitals in and around Austin, I was told everyone was at capacity. Not one animal hospital would see her that night, so I had to make an appointment for first thing in the morning at a different vet. Well, she didn’t make it through the night…That morning, I notified New Hope we were coming with my cat’s body to be cremated. When we got there, I was told to go back out to my car and wait there. They made me stand in the parking lot and wait while the employee went back and forth, taking my cat’s body inside, coming back to give me options on remembrance items, going back inside to print out an invoice and coming back out to take payment. I get why they don’t want grieving pet owners in the lobby, but I would at least expect to be able to sit in a room while we go through this process. Not sent out to the parking lot like Im some nuisance. THEN fast forward to a week or two later, I came in to pick up my dogs prescriptions and the girl pulled up my account on the computer and asked me which pet it was for.... I said, the one thats alive! Shouldnt they have updated that when I paid them to cremate my cats body? Ugh. New Hope – please train your employees on proper protocol for these situations. And if you think it’s ok treat people like this, then I have no words.

I have been taking my miniature dachshunds there for two years and they have always walked in with me by my side. In fact I do not even own a leash. Today after we had been in there for a while and my dogs had been adored by all of the front staff like usual, one girl half my age, came out from the back and tried to give me two leashes. She said, in a very despotic tone, you have put your dogs on a leash. I replied, no I will just take them out to my truck. Which I did. When I came back in to pick up the medication I had paid for, I was accosted by their security officer who threatened me with a citation; although I had been so compliant to begin with. This establishment does even not deserve to clean the urine of my furry kids. Shame on them. I have never been so belittled and harassed in my life. Professional integrity and common decency. We have taken two of our dogs here for vet care and an additional for grooming. All services have been outstanding. The puppy check for our Border Collie pup was thorough and at a very fair cost. The staff from the front desk to the veterinary team are easy to understand when it comes to the good things and opportunities when it comes to the care of the pets.I felt that our pup was not pushed on anything that he already had from his breeder or otherwise did not need and that the future care plan for him and for his older brother and sister aligns with what should be happening and at a very fair cost.Another bright point is the hours and what seems to be great availability in the event of an emergency. There are enough vets and options out there that can break the bank with exam fees and inflated pricing on other products and services. New Hope does very well at balancing things while ensuring a strong business to continue to serve pet owners in the area.As a bonus, they recommended against Butters going to visit Santa...so they came in with a surprise. Antlers for a great photo. Butters smiled with love for the attention.Thank you for taking great care of Dexter and Butters. The personal are very attentive and very professional. I am so please with this please, where we, me and Max, are going for the last three years. Thank you dr. Brooks, and thank you to all at the New Hope Animal Hospital.

I have been taking my two cats to New Hope Animal Hospital for the past 3 years and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with them. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the doctors are wonderful. There have been several urgent needs that I felt were dealt with quickly, even when I didnt have an appointment and was advised that I could be a walk-in. My cats are always seen in a timely and very efficient manner. I definitely recommend them for wonderful pet care.

I decided to switch from my former vet because although I loved him and the clinic, he is hard to get an appointment with since becoming the primary director of the hospital. New Hope is right around the corner from my neighborhood and is open seven days a week, so all of that makes them extremely convenient and accessible. My first appointment was for two of my dogs to get caught up on shots and have an overall wellness check. I arrived early, but they checked me in and got us into a room. At exactly 3:30, our appointment time, a vet tech came in and spent about 15 minutes going over everything that would be done. He explained everything about a few of the optional vaccines and procedures and gave me all the information needed in order to choose what was right for my two senior dogs.Dr. Cordeiro was friendly and thorough and provided me with a very fair cost estimate for my dog who needs two abscessed teeth removed. I love that they do not charge an exam fee if you are there getting vaccines! That right there saved about $100 from what I would have expected in exam fees for two dogs. They also provide a 10% teacher discount which is a bonus!I will miss my former vet, but do not regret making the choice to make New Hope my new go-to for my family.

My mom and I woke up today at 8 am just to get our dog checked out at this hospital, I had called the day before and also when we got there and they said it wasnt an emergency, it was just a walk-in visit, they mentioned it was going to be 55 dollars for walk in and 20 something to get him checked, it was going to be under 80 dollars. So we took our dog here, at 8 am on a Sunday, when we got there they said the wait was going to be from 1 to 3 hours, we sat there are waited, Im currently 2 weeks away from my due date, I didnt eat breakfast or anything so I actually called while in the parking lot to ask if I would have enough time and they say yes so I went to get food, nothing was open so I had to order ubereats to the parking lot of the hospital. When we came back a technician came out and asked questions about the dog, I explained how our dog had neutering surgery 4 days ago but now it looked like there was something stuck in his throat or maybe an infection, he then told us he would talk to the doctor and come back outside to get our dog. At this point it was already 12:00pm when another technician came outside 30+ minutes after the first technician talked to us just to tell us that the doctor wanted to bring us inside to a room but we were going to pay 120 dollars for an emergency visit (which was NOT the case) plus whatever else they would do to our dog. I got very frustrated because it was so unfair to see our dog in a Nissan sedan for 3+ hours wearing a cone, not being able to eat or anything plus all the discomfort from recovering from a neutering surgery. They waited so many hours to tell us we would have to pay more and as we were waiting MANY cars came and went with their pets and we were there since literally 8 am. On top of everything I told the lady that it was okay, we would just go to another clinic, at this point ofc everything was closed on Easter Sunday so now we have to wait even more to get our dog checked and we had to wait in that very unprofessional and rude place just to get our food cuz it was too late to cancel. Very disappointed and sad that nowadays money matters way more than the life of a loving dog whos in pain and has been sitting in a car for a very long time, not to mention me as a pregnant woman waiting for so long only for them to tell me I would have to pay twice the amount if I wanted the doctor to check out our dog. Never going back, very frustrating and sad experience. Would definitely give 0 stars if I could.

We were referred to New Hope by our veterinarian in Nevada when we moved to the Austin area two years ago. Since that time, Dr. Brooks and his staff have given all three of our fur babies the highest level of professional and personal care. The clinic offers expanded hours so it isnt necessary to go to the emergency room if the need arises on an evening or weekend. Because there are several vets on staff, weve always been able to see one of the professionals quickly. If theres been an emergency, the front desk has managed to squeeze us in without an appointment. Unlike other clinics weve been to over the years, New Hope doesnt charge an additional fee for this service. During the Covid crisis, the staff has maintained a high level of service consistent with the need to protect customers and employees alike. A shout out to Dr. Brooks who despite the pressures of maintaining a large and complex practice, has managed to give us and our pups personalized, professional and compassionate care. Were very fortunate to have found these folks

We have a 2 year old ash cat who has developed crystal that are a pain (for him) and they gave us food that would help him. They are so understanding in every way. This is the best vet Ive every been too and I tell everyone about them when ever I get asked about a vet. Im not sure if Dr. Knight is still there or not but every doctor on staff is great. I 100% recommend them.

So heres what went right:-My dog was properly treated- I was provided small compensation for the frustration- one of the receptionists was empatheticWhat went wrong:-I was told told the procedure would take 30-45 depending on when my dog woke up from sedation. I called about 90 min later and was told she was awake. Concerning...but fine.-After being told she was awake, I was told I would be called back in 10 minutes to pay and they would being her out. Another 30 min go by and I hear nothing.- Upon calling back, they said they were waiting for me. I clearly specified I was already waiting in the parking lot on the previous call and there was a clear commitment that I would be called.-I paid was told my dog would be brought out to me soon. Another 15 minutes go by and no dog.-I call again and am told that she noticed just before I called that she had not been brought out and she had just buzzed back-More minutes later I get my dog, and have been given the wrong medicine.-More waiting, and now I ask when I should give the first pill and the tech didnt know and said she would call me with the answer-I drive home, still havent heard back and have my wife call for the instructions and remember I didnt get an itemized receipt.- We now discover there was a double charge for the blood work, $135 that I feel lucky I caught.- wife calls back, is told the office manager will call her asap to handle the refund...and we had to call back another 2 hours later. The double charged was reversed, a moderate refund was provided for the hassel, and my wife was told I would receive a call with an apology that never came.Again, my dog was given proper care and is clearly feeling better...so I will still come here if time is a factor for the care of my dogs.

My dog whom was at the end of his life was treated with love and dignity. When Gus my Great Dane, was sick every single staff member took the time to show him love. They also worked with me to get good prices for his medicine and when it was time for him to cross over, they helped me find a mobile vet so that he could pass away at home. Amazing. I have never been to a veterinarian that I was so impressed by. The office took me in for an appointment the same day I called and told them I had a very bad experience with another veterinarian. I saw Doctor Natasha Knight. She was very kind and listened to everything I had to say. She did a real thorough exam and asked me many questions to make sure we covered everything. She took her time and I felt very confident that she was a doctor that really cared about my dog. She did some test and covered the results completely. I felt so relieved when we left knowing I had a fantastic doctor who would give my dog (Millie) the best care I could ever get.

I was happy to find New Hope is open on Sunday and I was able to take her in that day. New Hope Animal Hospital is by far the BEST vet hospital we have ever experienced! Just to let you know how important finding a great vet is to us - when we move to a new place, the first thing we do after we move our furniture in is find a vet and the closest 24 hour emergency vet hospital. Dr. Brooks saved our boys life two times and caught another cancer tumor while doing surgery - which may not have been caught had he not identified it. He and his staff are absolutely incredible people. You will not find a vet hospital with the hours this one has. They are open 7 days a week and have extended hours. They also have vet techs overnight in case your fur baby needs to stay after surgery. You just don’t find that at regular vet hospitals. He truly loves caring for your pet and I truly believe we have found the vet for us. I hope you make New Hope Animal Hospital your go to when your fur baby every need!

After getting my dog spayed at premier pet, she had severe pain and would not sleep, or even calm down after 3 days of the spay. I was checking her stitches to find out she had been bleeding a little bit more than id like, and all of the VCA places were closed due to boxing day. So I called New Hope who immediately got me in, and took care of my dog (Lily). They were so helpful with giving us some better pain meds, and some sleeping pills to calm her down. They were all super nice, even though my dog is a bit crazy lol.

I took my dog in for a groom, they texted me my appointment on the 12th, i got in and the groomer insists it was scheduled for the 11th.. Ok fine i need the groom so i leave her there to fit her in. The dog is a sheepdog but retired and now in a short coat... We just needed a shave-down on everything but her head and tail. Go to pick her up and get a 250 dollar bill! *Editted* this review from 2 stars to 4 after a great phone conversation with the manager. It appears they have some new folks up front still learning the desk and scheduling. The grooms are expensive imo, (ask for price before you drop off) but everyone i came into contact with was pleasant and did a good job with my dog.
