Awful. Half the machines dont work and there is no space for floor exercises or floor equipment to use if one of the team classes are using them. Something is always broken and the water is warm. Not worth the price at all.

I visited for a day and the gym was real nice. The people were great. I got good vibes and it wasnt over crowded. The shake wasnt all that but at least the service was good. It was also pretty clean. Thumbs up, I might come back and visit again. Maybe even sign up. We will see how it goes.

If you have other options, join another gym. Cleanliness: 0, machines always broken and takes months to fix, accurate. Size, small.

One of the best gyms Ive been too in the last few years. I love how many different sections there are to spread out to do Cardio, especially being 1 year into a major pandemic. Retro Fitness is now my new Primary Gym.

Although the gym is not huge I can always get a good workout in and not feel crowded. The classes are great and the atmosphere is wonderful.

Theyve created an incredible environment here for serious and casual lifters and fitness enthusiasts alike. Trainers do an excellent job of setting the culture and keeping everybody inspired. All staff seem interested in members progress. Best commercial gym Ive been to.

I like the classes! The boxing and dance burn class is my favorite. Instructor Farid and Alex make the experience fun and worth wile! You definitely will work in these classes!

My son and I just joined a week or so ago. We are very impressed with the professionalism and alertness of the staff along with the fitness center and amenities. In addition, the staff is constantly cleaning, while being polite and personable. I highly recommend the Catonsville location. We appreciate your service!!

FIX YOUR WIFI!!!!!!! (and I cant get any service)Machines get fixed but after a little while. Great cardio machines but racks and weight machines are cheaply made. Unsanitary and VERY disorganized. Gym etiquette is not something that the people that go here do very often. Benches are slippery and very thin which is far from regulation so don’t waste your time.

This is a great gym. I highly recommend it.

You better watch out for their shady offers and not disclosing all the facts. They offered me two for one deal on the valentines promotion but kept charging me for 4 month for 2 person until I realized. Management was not helpful at all to resolve my issues. I looked for the manager, she was not available and the person in charge could not make any decision either. So I had to help myself. I called my credit card company to stop the fraudulent charges and they could not stop it either. So I had to close my 8 years old credit card account just to stop those scumbags. On top of that they assigned my account to collection agency and when I disputed against them finally they backed off. It could have resolved very easily and due to the lack of intention to fix the issue from the management team ended them losing a long term customer. I would have stayed with them if I saw a 1% effort.

I gave you guys 2 stars only because I love all the staff. There’s gym equipments that has been broken for weeks. I go at night time only because I don’t want to go when it’s crowded ( COVID-19 ) but even when I go at night time more than half the people working out with weights are not wearing a mask and I have to stop my workout and leave because it makes me uncomfortable. You guys need to follow COVID-19 regulation.

Was a little iffy before joining however Marc, Tony, and Farid changed the whole perspective of this gym. Marc did a great job giving a tour of the gym and got me to sign up the same day. Definitely recommend this gym.

I had a good experience as a Retro Fitness member, but it is clear that they intentionally make it difficult to cancel your membership.There are instructions posted on the website, but the employees follow other procedures that ultimately lead to further delays and more charges.The fact that it happened repeatedly with different employees makes me think this is an intentional top down process designed to squeeze more money out of people who are trying to cancel their membership.When you do cancel, I would suggest you immediately let your credit card company know so they can block months of continued recurring charges.EDIT: The response asking me to reach out is a bit disingenuous. I’ve already reached out many times. In fact, I wrote emails to RF Catonsvillle copied to ABC financial and the Lutherville location, and Catonsville has consistently been the only party not responding.

I very much enjoy my Retro membership. I joined a couple of months ago. It was the first time that I ever joined a gym. Ive attended three times per week since December. My health, confidence and outlook on life have greatly benefited from working out on a consistent basis. I meet with a personal coach once per week as well. Working with the coach allows me to get the most out of my experience and helps me understand how to use the equipment. You have to put your heart into it. You have to get out of bed and show up at the gym. But it is totally worth it.

Retro Fitness Catonsville is the only gym I will ever attend. I love the staff, Instructors and the Owners. They are knowledgeable, helpful and they care about your needs. I recommend this gym to all of my friends and family. This gym is full of joy. I give Retro Fitness Catonsville a score of 10.

I absolutely loved going to retro fitness in Catonsville! They make you feel like a workout family. Brian specifically was so nice and willing to help me start my weight loss journey. I was extremely sad when I had to decide to leave retro for financial reasons, but I would highly recommend going to retro fitness!

Very aggressive and rude woman at the front desk. Canceled my membership due to poor communication, lack of customer service and lack of courtesy. Its not okay to speak to customers in a disrespectful tone.

I have been a member for nearly a year and I love the gym. The vibe is encouraging and the staff is awesome even when they have to tell you something you dont want to hear. The contract spells out all of the fees clearly and concisely. My only concerns are there have been multiple times when they were either out of smoothie creme or protein powder. It may seem like a small thing to some, but as a business, advertised items should always be readily available in my opinion. This aside...I love it and have lost nearly 20 lbs since joining.

Extremely disappointed in the management and ownership of this place.Seem desperate to hold on to ill-gotten money through arbitrary fees. No sense of organization, was told a different story by each person I spoke with, and they dont accept responsibility for their mistakes.Id been a regular member for about a year, even have a friend who teaches there. As a former resident of Main Street though, the Ellicott City flood forced me to move. I called a month ahead of my one year anniversary to ask about cancellation policies. I was told by a staff member that at my one year mark, I would go month-to-month, and if I cancelled after that time I wouldnt be penalized or charged.I called to cancel by phone, as I had seen a colleague cancel her membership the same way without issue. The staff member informed me that I was fine to do so. I asked if I needed to provide any documentation or sign something via email, and was told no. I even made sure to say so I wont be charged anything from this point, correct? and he said no, youre good.Turns out I wasnt good. I was charged not only for four months thereafter, but I was ALSO charged an absurd yearly fee, for which I had never agreed to.When I spoke to Tammy, a manager, I was told it was on Retros end and they would right the situation. She even sent me a form with her signature stating that it had been cancelled improperly on their end. I waited 2 weeks to see my refund. Nothing. I called for about a week and felt she was dodging my calls. Finally I got through to her and she gave a different story, that they couldnt refund me since it wasnt cancelled properly. Excuse you? It was on Retros part that it wasnt cancelled properly.She agreed to speak to her owner, who said they would refund me for 3 months of charges, but not the yearly fee because I hadnt given enough notice. Tammy added that the staff member I had spoken to was let go in a staff overhaul. Thats not my problem, and I have yet to see my refund.Dont waste your time or money. There are better, more straight-forward gyms out there who wont prioritize swindling you over treating you like a loyal client. I also hate getting angry with people and even writing reviews, but have never been treated so unfairly.

I withdrew my membership in June 2019 but they still charged me for maintenance fee and so on in the coming months. I have been trying to get my money back but they keep saying they will process it and never did. The manger ‘Tammy’ told me that they have already processed my refund and that it would take from 7-14 days, but it’s been almost a month and I still haven’t received my money. One of the employee named ‘Dlong’ has been trying to help me but still I have not received my money. I do not recommend this place because they are very unprofessional. That promise to call you back regarding your issue but this never do.

After going here for a year Im thankful that I did but my pursuits have me interesting in other gyms. Low prices and staff are really great. However the selection of strength equipment is abysmal and there is 1 power rack and 1 squat rack. Instead, Retro opted for a nonsensical amount of cardio and treadmills which are made to attract the casual 1-2 visit a month fitness mom. Not my thing. Also if you go here please make sure you squat until at least youre parallel with the floor.

Retrofitness Catonsville is a great gym. The staff is friendly, they have a variety of equipment, and the facilities are always clean. I am able to go after work at 6pm or so and never have too long of a wait for a machine. I havent experienced their group classes but they seem like a good time and the trainers seem friendly, knowledgeable, and accessible. At $20/month, you really cant beat it. I am not a gym rat so there may be drawbacks for more the more devoted customer but for someone looking to sweat and burn calories, its a great place to go!

Great gym, Awesome Staff very friendly unlike other Retro’s. My favorite place to workout. Gym is always clean. Wish they can add another back machine or so and get rid of some Cardio machines but other than that it’s great gym . They are always running some type of promotions so they can get you in to workout for as low as $20 a month ! That’s a win win ladies! MUST VISIT.

The gentleman who works in the morning is a great guy. I believe his name is Greg... he does fitness competitions and is very friendly. The gym has everything you need for a great workout. The turf provides an additional element not found in other gyms. And this is a little detail that probably gets overlooked, but I’m a huge fan of the quickfill water fountain that was recently installed.

Great community. Clean neat friendly staff. Great trainers. Great sports equipment, football training equipment. Been a member since they opened.

Things break. They get fixedThey run out of paper towels and refill them. The pads on machines wear out they replace them. There was a broken mirror and that was replaced. Moral is things go wrong running a gym and the owners and staff take care of everything. I’m always left with feelings of reassurance that this gym will be maintained at a high level. I love retro fitness.

The gym is clean, the equipment is varied, plentiful and well maintained. Staff is very helpful and friendly. My only complaint is they need to watch what is going on a little closer. Many times machines are being used as chairs with members sitting on them for inordinate amounts of time just playing with their cell phones. I find it quite annoying and it should be my place as another member to tell them to move on. Maybe they should add some chairs for those who want to use the gym to play on their cell phones instead of working out.

I really have a good experience with Retro. I enjoyed all my workouts and Team training with Marvin. Hes Motivating, Positive and fun loving person. I always feel so relaxed after the team workout. I never thought I would enjoy the workout and regularly attend the Team sessions. I only missed some sessions in my 6 months workout. Unfortunately I have to move out from Ellicott city otherwise I would be a part of Retro fitness and part of Marvins team training. I would recommend Marvins Personal and Team trainings.

Management at this location is unresponsive, rude and unorganized. The staff continue to call me asking to join, when I was a member and now that Ive cancelled. Ive asked them to stop, but they dont take note. Think twice before signing up with them.They obviously dont know how to comprehend reviews either. I clearly said Ive asked them to stop, but they dont take note, and they respond with ...you can always ask to be put on our DO NOT CALL list. A perfect example of their lack of customer service.

Gym is very clean, all the equipment and weights are in great condition (as well as unique stuff that other gyms may not have): I dont deal with the staff but they seem nice. Price is good for the area, only 20$ a month (for basic but it is usable at any retrofit gym in the country) as opposed to most other gyms asking for 40-50$. I dont know what the other users are complaining about the random charge. It is an annual fee that is only deducted once a year, Id advise anyone who signs up with any gym (or sign any contract) to do your due diligence and find out what you are signing for first. That should be a given...

They charge an extra $50 per year on top of your monthly fee. This is not a sign up fee or anything, its just an extra $50 every August. Also requires huge effort to cancel membership. After having such a nice experience at The Y I was caught off guard by all the hoops to jump through.

This gym is about 1 year old and more then half of the equipments are broken and not being fixed its sad we are being charged on time and paying maintenance fee and nothing is being fixed on time equipments are broken for months I normally dont post negative posts but this is getting too much

But Ill up my ratings when you fix the sink in the girls locker room, fix the clock...its been broken for over 3 months, like the sink...I blame this on lazy ownership. Attention to details. I loved this gym in the beginning until I cancelled months ago just to receive a bill from a 3rd party company saying I owe almost 5,000.

I enjoy the strong classes, which is essentially personal training, but with up to four people per trainer. This is great because I can take the classes three days a week and hit all muscle groups, for only $150 a month. Cardio equipment is top notch. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Only suggestion would be to poll the customers to think about turning the cardio theater into an additional free weight/strong man area, or potentially a soul cycle room. Right now I feel that room is being under utilized and there is always a struggle to find free weight equipment, while there are plenty of cardio machines available.

I have been going to Retro Fitness since last 1.5 years and it has been a great experience. I enjoy taking JP’s and Marvin’s team conditioning class. They both are amazing coach. They guid you, motivate you and push you to do better and better. I wasn’t a very active person 2 years back but then I took personal training session with JP back in 2017, which later motivated me to join team. One of the best feeling of the day for me is seeing on MyZone how much calories I have burned. Lol

I normally don’t leave any negative reviews for businesses, but this one really needs a wake up call . Used to get smoothies very frequently, since I have cancelled my membership, last year , went in after a 2 hour workout. Ask for a triple berry smoothie with 2 scoops of protein and peanut butter. How hard is that ?? Smoothie and shakes are no brainer. Gentleman behind the counter, didn’t use any gloves , I believe management doesn’t care about hygiene. Second he was ran out of peanut butter jar , but still had a good amount left at the bottom. Barely he used a 1/4 tbspn of peanut butter, I even asked him, you don’t have any spoon you can use to scoop out ? His answer with straight face , no spoon. Ok then didn’t even bother to open or look for a new jar , he just put that in machine and press the button and hand me my shake . I am a chef, do cooking for living , don’t charge a customer $8 for a bunch of ice and flavoring. If it was my employee I could tell you they won’t be working at my restaurant. So freaking lazy.

Good gym but terrible customer service, once you give them your money theyll do whatever it takes to keep taking your money from your account. I just had got $79 taken out of my account without my knowledge and Im couldnt be more pissed.

$60 membership cancellation and they still charge you for the following month on top of that. Also they couldnt cancel it today they had me fill out a form and wait for a phone call. Cmon...

The trainers are enthusiastic, positive, encouraging and an inspiration to our work out!!!!

Jameel doesnt care about his gym. Been going here since february 2018 and the water fountain is still broken. Most gym equipment is never used, 20 or so treadmills and not enough squat racks, benches, deadlift platforms. Please fix!

Good Gym, some fruitiness going on with some of the members, I had one guy following me around asking if i needed a spot, Told him no, i was good, but thanks. Then he came around again and got behind me while i was doing squats, and ask if i was good, all the while looking at my @$$. Told him for the second timeNO THANKS. So after about a half hour I had finished working out and headed to the locker room to shower up, and guess who comes waltzing in to see if i needed a back scrub. After that i told him to get lost or get punched in the face. So he took a few steps back and went to take a seat near the corner locker and said Ok, Ill be over here if you need me.........wth? So i grabbed my towel and cut my shower time short, and while i was drying off he was staring at my @ss once again, then proceeded to ask me if i have ever played ball in college or pro. Told him no, got dressed and darted out the door. Dont know who he was, havent seen him since.

With a variety of plans, you can sign up for the type of gym experience you (specifically) are looking for without having to change locations.

Just had 70 dollars taken from my account for a maintenance fee I never knew about they do not disclose this when you sign up. Then when I told them to cancel my membership they tell me I have to pay 60 dollars. I am very unhappy and will never return or recommend anyone to this gym
