Saturday at 5am, my best friend was struggling and we knew we had to make one of the hardest decisions a pet owner has to make. Unfortunately, while my wife was on the phone with this vet, Herschel passed away. Even though it was early in the morning and it was too late to help him to the Rainbow Bridge, the compassionate and caring person on the other line helped us set up the intake of his body. We arrived and within seconds they were professionally and respectfully carting off my friend. They asked me if I wanted to see him one last time, shared stories about their own pets passing and truly cared. In our toughest hour, they were professional and beyond compassionate. They truly care! Tonight I picked up my Hersh’s remains and they even returned the blanket we had brought him in with that terrible morning. They made a bad situation the absolute best they could considering the circumstances. I even received a condolence card signed by many of the staff. I can’t thank you all enough for respectfully taking care of my best friend. By the way, they don’t charge you a dime for facilitating with an outside company that cremates your pet. They are the go between and do it for free, all you do is pay for what type of cremation and urn you want. Again, these people are amazing.

Our 16 year old chihuahua fell 10 feet and landed on a hardwood floor in the middle of the night. Through my tears and panic, I called our usual emergency vet and was briskly told that I could come in, but would have to wait awhile as they were short-staffed.I hung up and immediately called the next vet I could find nearby, and fortunately, found these amazing people. The receptionist quickly answered and assured me they’d be waiting and ready for us. True to their word, we entered and they gently whisked my dog away to attend to her. Meanwhile, they made sure my son and I were comfortable waiting in a private room with plenty of tissues! The VA came in soon after and explained the work they’d like to do to assess my pet and told me what the cost would be UP FRONT! Not only was I impressed by the transparency, but the rates were extremely reasonable. To make a long story short, my sweet miracle dog literally walked away with just a bruised lung. The staff there were simply amazing and most of all … COMPASSIONATE! Hopefully, I won’t need to visit in the middle of the night again, but I know absolutely where I would go. ❤️

Don’t typically write reviews, but these guys were so great to my little guy and me. Cathy was so kind and helpful, even though I was pretty upset when I called. I had such a rough year with my dogs, so this was just one more thing, and she handled the referral paperwork and calling my vet and was just so willing to do more than she probably had to. The techs that took care of Rico were also very sweet, so it was just as good of an experience as we could have, considering the circumstances. Just wanted to say thank you again, I really appreciated the kindness!

Four days after I moved to the area, my dog needed emergency surgery to remove bladder stones. Stressful! All of the staff were attentive, considerate, and empathetic to my situation. My dog was treated very well and the problem was alleviated after a two night stay and surgery. The veterinarians and surgeon were thorough in their explanations and allowed plenty of time for questions. The office staff and vet techs were also helpful and informative. Communication from all staff at this office was top-notch! Highly recommend!

We had to rush our 2 year old golden retriever in at 4 in the morning. He was showing major signs of distress out of nowhere. They brought him to the back immediately to take x-rays and found out his stomach had flipped and bloated. He needed emergency GDV surgery. They got him prepped and ready for surgery right then and there, and called in the on-call team. They arrived so quickly and got him right into surgery. They saved his life, and still managed to keep me as calm as possible. A few more hours and we would have lost him. Im so beyond grateful to everyone here. They not only saved our boy, but they made sure his humans were taken care of as well. The updates we received, and the care our boy got while he was there was nothing short of amazing. Hes now home and recovering well. Ive called a couple times with questions and theyve been so quick to answer, and so kind. I am so thankful for everyone here for all they did for us, and for making sure our sweet pup came home happy and healthy.

When the pandemic hit, my vet closed down, but these wonderful folks didnt. They are professional and compassionate and took wonderful care of my senior kitty when he was having a rough time. Since then, theyve communicated with my regular vet about him and checked in with me about how he is doing. They clearly deeply care about their patients and stepped up when no one else dared. My little old buddy is in great health now, and Im eternally grateful.

I am no stranger to veterinary care or emergency vet care and have been to several VCAs, Alameda East and Cottonwood Emergency Vet Hospital. I have been to this facility four times in the past six months with different dogs and problems ranging from needing stitches, removing porcupine quills, a broken leg and a toxic accidental overdose. Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies are emergency vets, so yes, it is going to be expensive, but this place is reasonable. They have not recommended the Cadillac of care and tests other places do. They are good about working with you and answering your questions to scale the care closer to your budget and even recommending alternatives. Yes, the bill will sting, but I find them to be reasonable in price while still giving high quality, compassionate care.

Take your money and pet elsewhere these people are horrible. Below is a letter I sent to them with zero response I would give them 0 stars if I could.I am writing this letter to voice my displeasure with the care my pet received on 8/10/21 at your facility. My German Short Hair Pointer was referred by my primary Veterinarian for an ultrasound to determine if he might have Cushings disease. Per the clinics instructions my dog had to be there before 0900. He was delivered to your facility at 0845 and I was informed by the Technician that the ultrasound would not be performed until late afternoon. I expressed my concern as he drinks an excessive amount of water and had not eaten as directed by your clinic. I was told that the traveling Radiologist could come at anytime so it was best to leave him. It was apparent that he was not allowed to urinate during this time which I felt was a very cruel. His ultrasound was started at around 1500 and at approximately 1600 your office contacted me that the procedure was completed and that I could pick him up. I arrived at your facility within 10 minutes, paid my bill and waited in the lobby for him to come out. A Tech brought my dog out and to my shock he was only walking on his front legs and dragging his rear legs. Apparently he was heavily sedated and was desperate to urinate. The Tech informed me that she was not assigned to his case so she had no information for me and they brought him out so I wouldn’t have to wait any longer. I barely got him outside before he urinated all over himself he was barely able to make it to my vehicle, and needed assistance to walk until 0300 the next day. Everything at your clinic seemed stressed and chaotic. The receptionist was pleasant but the Technicians were overly matter of fact and kind of rude. I knew that the staff would not communicate the results of the ultrasound but there was zero communication regarding the use of the sedative, how long it’s effects would last, or how I was to care for my pet after the procedure. It was a lot like here he is we are done, see you later. I know that my primary Vet was upset at this news and I don’t blame him the difference between the care we received from him is night and day compared to your care. I plan to submit a review of your clinic but will hold off until I receive a response from your organization.Guess what crickets from them, not even a courtesy call or apology.

I cant tell you how incredibly grateful I am to the staff at Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies here in Castle Rock. I brought my 7 year old Corgi, Pickle, to their office in September 2020 for bloody nasal drainage, difficulty breathing, and decreased appetite. I would have normally taken her to her regular vet (whom I also adore) but their office was closed for a week to allow their staff to recuperate from crazy hours and COVID related work fatigue. I explained this to the staff at Vet. Specialists of the Rockies and they told me to bring her in. They took great care of Pickle and helped me with a treatment game plan. They also helped detect a lesion/iris nevus on her right eye. Were now seeing an ophthalmologist in Denver to get that taken care of.On Christmas eve at 11:30pm, my dog Walter was attacked in the dog park by an Australian Shepherd. When I got inside to examine him, I found a puncture wound. I called the clinic to see if we should bring him in. They told me bring him in to evaluate the depth of the wound and to have it cleaned out to reduce risk of infection. Sarah was so kind and helpful over the phone. She was also very quick in getting us back into the room and seen. Dr. Deutsh was thorough and kind. I also found the visit reasonably priced especially since it was holiday and late at night. Also, they do a wonderful job of communicating with my local vet. I got a call this morning from my vets office calling to check on Walter since they received a report of his recent emergency visit. Both Walter and Pickle are doing well. Im so happy to have this clinic in my backyard.

Excellent experiences with this hospital, especially since the pandemic hit. Theyve been taking excellent care of my fluffy roommates, despite the added difficulties of managing pet care while distancing and keeping healthy.Ive rarely had to wait for care and checkups for my pets when I go there. The rare instance it has happened, has been when someone elses pet needed help RIGHT THEN, and Im happy to wait. Id want the same priority for me and mine.Ive shopped around a bit, and their pricing is flexible, and seems in keeping with other local hospitals. Their facility is excellent, and prior to the pandemic, I had no concerns regarding hygiene or cleanliness of their facility. In an emergency, it would be my first stop if one of my furkids needed immediate help to keep them alive.Special kind of people there, who keep helping peoples fuzzy family members, despite the world trying to catch fire. I know where Im bringing my pets, for when I need competent, life-saving care.

Instead of sharing the parking lot with other doctors u have a management staff who is rude and is parking lot attendant instead of taking care of animals. I will never bring my animals here and will tell everyone not to come. Reading the reviews I see you dont take animal care as serious as you do the parking lot. Zero stars. Horrible experience! All these people care about is money. They have the upper hand being the only open veterinarian and they know it! The kindness and sense that they care stops at the front desk. The attitude of the techs (which they treat like doctors) is horrible. I sat and waited and waited, 30 minutes after I was told I would receive an update, I was told their times change and someone would get to me when they could. That update from the tech didnt include anything about the condition of my dog, just how busy they were. Which from sitting and observing in the lobby, they werent that busy. There are ways to convey that message without being so rude about it.My suggestion to them would be to remember that as pet owners you keep waiting with no information - we are scared for our pets. I was only there because my dog is dying and I left with zero medications or resolution. They offered antibiotics, but did not yet know what they were even treating so I refused once I knew my dog was stable. You acting like you care and showing some compassion would go a long way. I left very upset and will never return.

I ignored the one star reviews and still came into this place thinking maybe they just had a bad day or two. WRONG! Avoid coming here. These people are not realistic with their time frames and after being told my pet would be seen in 1-1.5 hours and then told another 30-40 minutes and then told it would still be at least 2-3 more hours I left. I was offered to have my pet triaged after 2.5 hours of waiting. Triaging is supposed to happen when you first get there. My dog sat waiting and bleeding the whole time. I will never come back here nor would I recommend this place. The receptionist was pleasant but after voicing how ridiculous this situation was and how they should let people know from the beginning how long they would actually be waiting to her and who I am assuming was a vet tech, the vet tech was really rude and tried to claim they were telling people. My whole experience lasted from calling them at 9am and leaving this place at 12:30pm. Don’t waste your time and seek care elsewhere.

We have a one year old rescue kitty with a gurgly voice and the primary care vet couldnt identify a problem and referred us to Vet Specialists. We were able to get an appointment in a few days----which is unheard of with internal medicine. The communication was A+ throughout the process. I was given a detailed estimate of the pricing for the scope under anesthesia. When that revealed no obvious cause, the vet called to let me know about some tissue samples she wanted to send out and again I was given a detailed cost estimate. We agreed to everything and are awaiting the results now --- and are very pleased with how everything went. We still want answers for our little guy but I have faith that his lung sounds are good and hes not at dire risk at the moment so well let it ride until we get the lab results and pathology/histopathology back. Very happy with this clinic.

BAD VET ALERT!!! The ER vet we were told to go to ‘Veterinary Specialist of the Rockies’ behind Target in Castle Rock was a HUGE MISTAKE!!! We called them and they said they would care of them immediately, absolutely a lie. Our dogs had a porcupine experience where they where quilled around face and it was worse inside their mouths. I wish I could post a picture. They let our dogs suffer for 6-7 hours before tending to them!!! There were more quills inside their mouth’s than outside. As I’m writing this, it’s been almost 10-hours and we still don’t have them back yet. After I said I was coming to pick them up to take them to the Parker ER, they magically said they were working on them. I would NEVER send anyone to this clinic. After asking questions, they only have 1 doctor staffed at a time. Think about that, if there’s more than 1 emergency, then someone’s out of luck. The vet we had, Dr Rector, the owner, was complacent and dismissive of the suffering of our dogs. I feel it was abusive, neglectful and the quills may have deepened causing splintering and future issues. She left the oldest dog that was also in the WORSE condition for last. We initially showed up at 8:30am, he wasn’t seen until 4:30-5pm. She continued to pass them over as the day continued. They sat and suffered. If they couldn’t help them, then they should have told us, and we would have taken them elsewhere, but $$$ was more important than the animal’s welfare. Please don’t go here, use the Parker ER clinic instead, as they have more doctors and qualified staff. After talking to the Parker ER, and multiple other vets, they all agreed that this was absolutely unacceptable and horrific!! Wish we would have known better, our dogs paid the price. (Note: This statement is my opinion, after reading it, please make your own conclusion. We love our animals and know they have no voice, therefore I’m compelled to share this awful experience so hopefully other animals won’t suffer under their care. Go to the Parker ER!!!! TRUST ME!!!)

To be safe, we decided to take our Beagle down to have her examined. We were met at the door by Amber who was extremely kind and did a great job of setting a time expectation of when we might see the vet due to the late hour of night and them being very busy. Shortly after Amber settled us in a room, Sarah came in almost right behind her to exam our dog. Sarah was super personable, friendly, professional, and honestly just nice to talk to. Do not go to this hospital if your pet is hurt! It is just a money making place that does not care! The person checking you in is extremely insensitive and unprofessional. I did everything they asked for covid, my dog and I were quiet and calm in the room since there were two ahead of us. I waited one hour before the tech came in for vitals and another hour before I left without seeing a vet. A total of 2 hours for nothing!! We got skipped over because the tech made a diagnosis of my dogs state and deemed not very critical even though I brought him in for a back injury! I am taking him to another hospital that is more caring. Five minutes after I left, the tech called me telling me the vet will see my dog now if I want to come back. I mentioned about being skipped over and the response was about the levels of criticality of the injury! Confirming the non-veterinarian made a diagnosis! I have lived in Castle Rock for over 35 years and have had many pets. The town has changed and also the service in the town has changed as well. I live in Colorado Springs and when my 7 year old German Shepherd (Bo) began vomiting excessively yesterday I took him to our preferred ER in town. Unfortunately due to being the only open ER in the vicinity, because of covid exposures, the non-critical wait time was encroaching upon 24 hours. After waiting all night hoping they’d be able to see him sooner, he had vomited 13x. I called VSoR at 5am, and they were extremely concerned, and recommended I bring him in. When I got there I let the staff know about his potential fear aggression with vets and they were receptive, and extremely sweet and patient with Bo. We were able to be in and out of there in 3 hours. I cannot thank VSoR enough for taking such great care of my boy. They will absolutely be my go to secondary ER when our in town preferred is too full. Having 4 middle aged dogs, I’m sure this won’t be our last visit.

This review is based on my experience as both a client and employee. The staff, doctors and management are amongst the finest I have ever worked with. Since COVID, business has exploded. Behind the scenes, these people here are working tirelessly trying to help every pet as quickly as possible, often staying hours late after their shifts sacrificing precious time with their families. As with any ER, there is a triage system ensuring the most critical are handled first which means stable patients may have to wait longer. I’m sure if your pet were the critical one, you’d want that too. Additionally, ER or specialty care is also expensive which is why health insurance is recommended for every pet whenever possible. It has come to my attention recently that some people are posting all over social media defamatory comments encouraging other people to do the same. This is hurtful not only to the hospital but every person that works there takes it very personally. Dr Megan Rector and Dr Carrie Daly are amongst the finest ER doctors whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with. The profession as a whole is losing people to suicide at a higher rate than most other professions. A little kindness, grace and understanding goes a long way.In conclusion, wouldn’t hesitate to bring my pets here.

My wife and I brought our Dachshund/Australian Kelpie puppy, Rocky, that we purchased from a rescue organization less than a week earlier to Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies on Thanksgiving morning 2020. Rocky threw up Thanksgiving morning and so we brought Rocky in to be tested for Parvo as 4 of the 7 puppies from the litter were currently being treated for Parvo. Rocky tested positive and so we contacted the seller of the puppy to tell her that Rocky tested positive and she had agreed to pay for his treatment earlier in the week. As it was Thanksgiving day our options were very limited. The Seller spoke with a representative of Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies and they agreed to give us the 20% discount since Rocky is part of a rescue adoption organization. So the seller sent us $1000.00 and we paid approximately $1,400.00 to pay for a 12 hour stay and we would return the next day to remove Rocky from their care to take Rocky to another vet that was significantly cheaper in Lakewood to continue his care. When we told them that we were going to remove Rocky from their care the representative told us that our puppy would die in the care of the place that we were taking our puppy because the place we were planning to take Rocky was inferior to their care. Perhaps this tactic of trying to scare people into paying more to leave their pet with this facility works with others, but all it did was make us angrier and hastened our desire to get our dog out of this place. When we returned the next day to take Rocky from their care they refused to honor the 20% discount they had agreed to the previous day. We argued, “How would we know about your 20% rescue adoption discount unless you told us. We couldn’t just make that up.” We argued with them until they finally said they would give us the discount, but when we received the bill, they only took a 10% discount. We were so disgusted with them at this point, that we just paid it and told them we would post a negative review of their facility. When dealing with this place, if they agree to do anything out of the ordinary be sure to get it in writing as they will not honor a verbal agreement. Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies is overpriced, untrustworthy and downright sleazy! Below is a picture of Rocky and he is healthy and happy back at home.

This place is excellent. After 2 weeks and 5 vet appointments, we had to rush our cat, Elijah, to the ER. He was having breathing difficulties. We called ahead to let them know we were coming (at 2 AM), and they were waiting for him when we arrived. They took him in right away and were able to give us some type of outlook within about 10 minutes. This was more information than we got from 3 other family vets the previous 2 weeks. Unfortunately, Elijah had pretty significant heart and lung issues, that could not feasibly be corrected. We were at the point of having the euthanasia conversation. Dr. Braasch and the vet tech on duty, Katie, were absolutely wonderful. They were caring, compassionate, and even a bit sad themselves. They walked us through the whole process and made sure Elijah was as comfortable as possible. The outcome of our visit was not ideal, but the level of care was better than any other vet weve visited.

They called to follow up many times and I knew they cares about the well being of my dog. Also, they were very reasonably priced and didn’t try to charge me for unneeded testing. I can’t say in words how wonderful they are!

I had to bring my dog here today because, of course, it’s Sunday and all other veterinary offices are closed and it was a health issue that just couldn’t wait another day. My vets office had them recorded as their emergency go to. I was so nervous going to a new place you just don’t know what to expect. I called ahead to see if they had any appointments available. They do walk in appointments. When I arrived, I called and the front desk was so friendly! A Vet Tech arrived promptly at my car for curbside service. She was very thorough and had great bedside (or curbside) manor. My dog was taken in and examined. I received a call some time later with a detailed explanation of what was going on with my dog and various options that I had and what made sense to do with them or follow up with our primary vet. Which I really appreciated to give the best care for my dog! They had chairs outside to wait that were socially distanced along with water bowls for the pups! I was in and out in an hour! Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful! So thankful to have found this place! I would Highly recommend to anyone!

I had to take my cat here for an ultrasound. They have terrible communication! I dropped my cat off first thing in the morning and call after call throughout the day they kept telling me the ultrasound would be done soon. Finally by late afternoon they told me the doctor was coming from another facility and he should be there soon. I finally got the call close to 5 pm they were done. Communication goes a LONG way and this place is terrible! It shouldnt take 3 or 4 calls throughout the day to finally find out the truth.

Simply put, the vet-tech/manager I dealt with was rude and condescending. I’ll spare the details, but I was there for an ER visit and I wanted to leave within the first few minutes. However; being after hours (my vet was closed) and an emergency situation, I had no choice but to stay. The facility was beautiful and the rest of the night staff seemed quite pleasant. I’m not questioning the technical competency of this individual, but the God Awful attitude will never be forgotten. I finally asked her why she’s being so rude and condescending , I just didn’t get it. She denied any wrongdoing and said my questioning her was “combative”. Are you kidding me???? My dog was fine and I told her I’d just like to leave and that I would ABSOLUTELY be talking with one of her supervisors. She told me she was a manager and to get out of her ER. Funny, my neighbor had a not so enjoyable experience with a staff member at this facility...I remember how mad he was. Yep, I asked who it was and he gave me the same name as my offender. Too bad this person had to make a stressful situation so much worse. While I was composed during my non scheduled ER visit, a lot of people could be naturally upset. For a healthcare worker to emit such a terrible attitude and lack of compassion, I can see why there are so many negative reviews! Get a new line of work if you’re going to treat customers so poorly! UNBELIEVABLE..insanity. I’m so thankful for my regular vet/staff and their professionalism. Lastly, taking the time to read many of the reviews, it’s interesting how often people complain about the “unprofessional and rude behavior” of a certain manager. Hmmmm...there’s something to this! Despite the attitude, I’d trust this facility to care for my dog in an emergency. With that said, NOWAY would I frequent them as a regular client...not with a manager like this working there!

Incredible staff and doctors who got my cat back on his feet - literally, after he was struggling to walk over a weekend. The doctors gave exceptional care to my cat, especially Dr. Schmid, and I was felt extremely well informed about all of the options and health issues at hand, including the cost of all procedures. I never felt like my boy was just another number - he was given individual care and they did all the right things to help him recover very quickly. Their exceptional patient service & communication certainly gave me more peace of mind when I was distressed about my pet.

My dog Missi did something to herself to damage her mouth in the form of moving her canine perpendicular to her gums. It was 1030 pm and I was coming off a 13 hour work shift when this happened and I frantically found this vet to be the only one open 24 hours. When I called as I drove there (yes, yes, I’m sorry I drove while on the phone) the staff were comforting and direct to be prepared to receive my girl. I forgot my mask and they were nice enough to provide a high quality mask for me so I could come with my dog into the clinic. My dog is 14 years old, a rescue with a history of abuse. She doesn’t take lightly to people. They were very respectful of her as they immediately took her to the back of the animal hospital. They updated me regularly as they began exploring the extent of the issue and formulating the solution. Ultimately, they were not equipped to help her tooth issue. They didn’t have the equipment or resources. I appreciate the honesty and reality of the result. They wouldn’t risk performing anything they weren’t 100% ready for. The vet came and explained everything to me and then sent in a vet tech who had gone through similar situations with her pets to guide me to the best vets to solve this. They gave me a printed list of the vets who could properly fix my dogs teeth, as well as care instructions, and medications on the spot (no trip to the pharmacy). They also gave me, free of charge, the suggested “soft food” that my dog could consume in the mean time before being seen for her teeth because it was a Saturday night and she would be stuck in this situation until Monday. Not to mention my supposedly hard to approach dog came back with evidence of being scratched and loved on from the staff. I was expecting the price for an emergency visit with meds and food to be in the $800 range, but my bill was a very modest $350. The vet tech even called the next day to see if I had any luck with her suggestions and to see how my Missi was. These vets not only treated me and my dog excellently but they have been there for my mom several times as her swallow-anything puppy has needed medical attention.I’m incredibly thankful for this clinic and their work. They do an amazing job. As someone who has lived in castle rock for nearly 30 years with pets I can say that this clinic as the local 24 hour vet is a huge asset and gift to the area. I’m sorry that it’s taken me almost a month since the date of visit to review but I can’t speak highly enough. I hope I won’t have to revisit but if I do I know my furry family members and I are in good hands.

The team was great took care of our little one with a gentle hand and professionalism. Our senior pup has a collapsed trachea and could not stop coughing. The vet sat with us, literally sat down, and spent all the time we needed, answered all of our questions. We were not pressured to do an xray but since it had been a few years since we had her xrays, we chose to do it. There was zero guilt to do it, the vet said we could wait and take her to her primary vet. Had we chosen to forgo the xrays, the emergency visit would have been $30 more than what we pay at her normal vet appointment and our normal vet is reasonably priced, not on the higher end. We were pleasantly surprised as it was one in the morning and was an emergency visit. Also, we did not ask about cost prior to care so assume this is their normal charge. We are very picky and turned off by clinics that price gouge or try to pressure for extras. We will most likely change them to our primary vet as their level of professionalism and care was impressive and zero pressure or guilt to spend more than what we needed to get her comfortable. Our little one had visited once before a few years back and our experience was similar, so we know this wasnt just a one time experience.

I foster mama dogs through the welping of their litters, and in my last litter I had a pup that I knew was a failure to thrive by 10 hours old.I took him to this practice to be euthanized, as he was suffering and not compatible with life. When I arrived and told them what needed to happen, I was told well, we have to stab him in the heart with a needle to euthanize him. As if the situation wasnt devastating enough already. Then I was told, compared to the other puppies we have now, he looks fine. Take him home and try to feed him. If he doesnt eat bring him back in the morning. Do these people ever even deal with infant puppies?! That was horrible advice! He didnt eat. So I did as I was told and took him back to be taught how to tube feed him.I was told it was contraindicated from the parking lot. At this time my neonate puppy had been starving for 24 hours.I found another vet to show me, but my puppies blood sugar had plummeted so dramatically by that point, he was starting to go into shock, and we had to euthanize him by stabbing him in the heart with a needle to end his suffering. This practice was cruel to me as an owner knowing what was best for her dog, and then being scared out of that wish, to watch my sweet infant puppy gasp, foam at the mouth and die painfully due to hypoglycemic shock.Tube feeding is NOT contraindicated in a starving puppy, and I strongly suggest you train your vets!Your practice allowed my puppy to suffer and die, and you cost me $1700 in the process due to him needing critical care at a competent veterinary ER.

I took my senior cat to this vet because my personal vet had no available openings that day. Peanut had an eye that would not open all the way yet would not close, a droopy ear and was in a semi-lethargic state. She would not eat. After waiting in the parking lot for 2 HOURS, a very nice vet called and said Peanut was not critical and that he would stain her eye to check for lacerations and that he would call me back in a few minutes with the results. Another hour passed. I called. The vet NEVER did. A tech finally brought Peanut to the car. When I asked what had been determined, she did not know and had to read the diagnosis from the invoice she had in her hand. She claimed the vet had looked at her, had determined there were no obvious wounds to her eye but that Peanut had suffered some sort of blunt trauma. I was presented with antibiotic eye drops and an oral pain killer. After a restless night, Peanut was still not eating and appeared to be getting worse. I scheduled an appointment with my personal vet who after a brief exam determined that she had a bad enough ear infection that the nerve to her eye was being compressed and causing her eye issue. She gave her a shot of the correct antibiotics, a tube of lubricant so that her eye would not dry out, a three-day dose of the correct pain killer, and assurances that this treatment should take care of it. She called me three days later with the results of the ear culture which confirmed that my vet did indeed give Peanut the correct antibiotic. Nearly $800 later, it was evident to me that Vet Specialists of the Rockies did not even conduct a cursory exam of Peanut as a brief look inside the ear was all it took to know that there was more to the eye problem than a random blunt trauma injury. It was an appalling experience and a disgrace if for no other reason than they claim to be an emergency vet WHICH MEANS people bring their pets there because there is an emergency and they care enough to secure for them the best of care, which unfortunately, is not available at Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies.

I do understand that this is an emergency vet, and that the severity of the animals care needs dictates the order in which they are seen. HOWEVER, a little bit of communication goes a long way. We waited in the parking lot for over an hour and a half, and were told on three separate occasions that a tech would be out “in just a quick second” to take a look at our dog (who had an open wound from running into a bush). Aside from the very friendly front desk person who did the initial check (presumably to gauge the severity level of the injury), no one else ever bothered to check on our dog. On my fourth call to the office, I told whoever answered the phone that I really needed to know how much longer it would be because I had kids at home, and only then was I told “it’ll be another 3 hours” before someone *might* be able to come out. If that was the case, why was I being repeatedly told that someone would be out “in just a quick second.” Just communicate and be up front with your clients. Even the pet owners waiting with less severely injured animals are still anxious and worried about their pets (after all, why else would we be at the emergency vet in the first place). It would be nice if the people we were trusting to take care for our furbabies wouldn’t repeatedly lie about wait times and just keep already anxious people waiting for hours on end under the guise of it’ll be “just a quick second.” Just be honest. If you will repeatedly lie about a tech coming to look at my animal, I will presume you will lie to me about about anything. This is the first bad review I’ve ever written—I hope that lets you know how upset I am by the way things unfolded this evening. Save your excuses, you don’t have one. Just do better.

A few weeks ago we had to rush our dying fur baby here to euthanize her. I was unbelievably stressed knowing our regular vet was closed and that this was the only late night option. My son arrived ahead of me and got us checked in, upon my arrival someone met us at the door and immediately took our dog in her arms and to the back to get her catheter started. We were taken to a lovely room they have for people saying goodbye to their pets, one that made us feel as though we had a safe and private place to grieve and say our goodbyes. The vet that brought our girl in to us brought her in a little bed so she was comfy and made the end life process as comfortable as he could not only for our fur baby but for us. I was distraught as well as my kids but they never rushed us out of there or made us feel bad for not knowing how to deal with the death of our old girl. What made me really want to write this review was that about a week after, we got a card in the mail signed by all of the staff with their condolences. We have never been to this vet before and they didnt know us but the fact that they took the time to send this to us after our loss really made a big impression on me.

There was a misdiagnosis with my dog. The doctor told me he had a back issue, possibly a dislocated disc. But he didnt, he ended up having botflies and went into anaphalactic shock because it wasnt caught in time. Luckily, my primary vet caught it and he went into surgery soon enough to catch it. Thank goodness for Banfield. After all this happened, I was happy to pay this vet clinic because I did indeed use their service and had no hard feelings about the misdiagnosis. Things happen! However, one of the staff members told me about Trupanion (and an insurance company) and made it sound like my dogs treatment (rather mistreatment) would be covered, but it wasnt. I wasnt communicated with at all regarding the billing issues going on, not one letter, not one email, nothing. After I found out about this, fees had accrued and it was an amount I couldnt afford. I called them to dispute the charge and didnt hear in a timely manner. Finally, someone got back to me after I had called to follow up and worked out a plan to pay this bill.Although the situation is solved, I was very upset with their service, their vets and representatives need to communicate properly and effectively so their patients dont get confused or misleaded. Definitely will not be going back here ever again.

I work at a veterinary practice, but when my cat went downhill overnight I knew he couldnt wait until morning to be seen by the doctors where I work. Basically my cat went from happy and healthy one year old, to so lethargic he wouldnt move even his head, had issues with his back legs, horrible fever, and so on. I called two different emergency practices, and the first one didnt even want to give me what their exam fee (needs to be paid before your pet is even seen) and kind of rushed me over the phone. So then I called Vet Specialists of the Rockies. They gave me their exam fee right away, told me what doctor was there that night, what I could expect when my cat got there, and even let me talk to the doctor to see if there was anything I could do to keep my cat stable while I was transporting him. The facility is stunning. Very clean, beautiful, and for me it was calming. The staff was so friendly and helpful the entire phone call and visit. Let me just throw out there, my cat is not easy to work with. At my work he is notorious for attacking people. They handled him wonderfully and never once were negative towards me or him because of his behavior, which if you have a cat who gets aggressive at the vet you know thats a big thing. Dr. Rector went over all findings, other diagnostics we could do, and all treatment plans that were possible. I was concerned about finances but also wanted to make sure my boy was going to be okay. So, we went with a middle ground plan. Also afterwards I learned that their exam fee is less than a lot of other emergency practices. I am extremely happy with how that visit went, and I honestly dont think my cat would have survived the night without them. Not only am I comfortable taking my own animals there, but I now refer a lot of patients to them for emergency care. Seriously gold star care. Thank you all so much, from Ruvik and I :)

If I could rate this place a zero I would. I took my dog there because I thought she had a bladder infection. I got there and I waited hour and a half, and still did not get to see a doctor. I asked the lady at the front desk how much longer it would be. She replied 10 minutes. After that I waited another 15 minutes, and still I had not seen a doctor I told the lady at the front desk about how long my wait has been, and if I wouldnt get to see a doctor in the next 10 minutes, that I would leave and never come back, and her excuse was, We have two severely ill dogs in the back, we are trying to get you someone as soon as we can. I told them that I understood, but I have been waiting for almost two hours. 5 minutes later a heath tec saw me in the waiting room. She was being extremely rude and snippy to the lady at the front desk and me. When she saw my dog she didnt even touch her, she just looked at her. The health tech had told me that a bladder infections are really rare in puppys, witch of course I knew wasnt true. She also told me that I had to wait another twenty minutes in order to see a real doctor. I told her that I didnt believe that at all, after that I left not happy at all about the way the place treated my, nor the service. I felt all they had to do was culture her urine and give me antibiotics, didnt understand why such a short process turned into a two hour wait.

Review №100

Months ago we took our female Sheltie here late at night. She was lethargic, would have nothing to do with food, and was hiding in the house. She did not have a temperature, was not tender to touch, nor vomiting. However, her behavior was very odd for her. The staff listened to my concerns and gave us options that included bloodwork, IVs and a possible ultrasound. She stayed overnight In their care. The next day the ultrasound in fact showed she had a gallbladder problem. We have followed up with them for a repeat ultrasound and medication to care for her and will continue to have them monitor her condition because of their expertise and compassion. Thank you for helping our Zoey!
