Took my four year old and two year old here. It kept them entertained for about an hour including panning for gems. I think this museum would take more time with kids that are a bit older. 8-13 may be perfect. I think high schoolers would think theyre too cool, but its for a lot of interesting stuff, I wanted to spend more time there reading and looking at everything, but my kids kind of rushed through. Overall, great museum! Great facility.

A hidden gem right off the highway! The museum is lovely, and the grounds are well cared for. They have enough exhibits to keep you there most of the day. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and follow COVID guidelines. The planetarium has several different shows throughout the day that both children and adults can enjoy. We saw the show about the constellations while we were there and one of the other guests fell asleep and was snoring behind us. We had a good giggle about it. Hope he had a good nap!

Excellent time at this museum! The exhibits were detailed and some were interactive. My kids enjoyed it. We learned some things from the exhibits. My kids had great questions about some of the things they saw. We saw one of the shows in the Planetarium and it was excellent!! We ate lunch in the cafe, food and prices were great! I definitely recommend.

Great museum! Our group consisted of 3 adults, we spent about three hours in the museum and thoroughly enjoyed each gallery. I especially enjoyed how they placed mirrors underneath the vintage cars in the automotive gallery, giving you the opportunity to see underneath each vehicle, super interesting!Lots of hands-on pieces within exhibits, definitely good for kids. The entire museum is wheelchair friendly and very accessible, with wide walkways. There are restrooms inside and outside the museum, which is genius.

Expert science communicators created this interactive museum of science. For example, the explanation of Foucaults pendulum is the best Ive encountered. With a nice focus on GA gems and minerals the exhibits are outstanding. The replica of the Wright brothers plane as well as the Apollo 1 capsule are inspiring.Must-see museum.

This is an incredible museum for people of all ages! Our group consisted of 2 “moms”, two 18 year olds and an 8 year old and we all had a great time. The exhibits are amazing and the hands-on activities are so fun! There were different venues that kept us entertained or learning and it was very clean. We didn’t get to do everything we wanted to due to our schedule but I think you could do it all in 3-4 hours. It’s not so big that it takes multiple repeat visits to experience everything, which I appreciate. It’s a place I want to take my mom (in her 60’s) and my young nieces and nephews and I think they’d all enjoy it! There is truly something for everyone!

This museum is absolutely incredible. Theres so much to see and its easy to tell that the operators have a deep love for science and desire to educate others. The exhibits are well curated with enough of each subject matter to engage people of all ages. The child-oriented area is better than most dedicated childrens museums. The planetarium is so dope. I brought my son and daughter here for the first time and it was amazing! There is so much to see and the grounds are beautiful. Best of all was the fossil dig and mining for different minerals. The kind man who worked these areas surprised me with an emerald for my son (which he had no way of knowing is his birth stone) and a piece of turquoise for me when I said aloud to my daughter that I was hoping to find one. He was so kind! He made the space very welcoming for my rambunctious kiddos (and for this kid-at-heart). And the staff was wonderful when I needed to reschedule our tickets due to illness. We will definitely return!

It was great, staff were extremely welcoming and friendly, plus helpful. Although I cant say that the planetarium needed met my expectations I was most excited about that part of my visit but was pretty disappointed and actually left before it was over due to the dull hostess that was speaking throughout the experience. Thats not an attempt to be offensive; its simply just my personal opinion. Perhaps someone else speaking could have made it more intriguing for me. Fascinating, educational, hands-on & enlightening displays for young or old. I noticed how there was a well-organized, well-staffed & well maintained & clean facility. Although the exhibits were very detailed, there werent many different themed ones to look at. We came mostly for the dinosaurs, but expected to see way more than we actually did. What was there (at least when we went) was a dinosaur exhibit, precious rocks and minerals/earths crust and earthquakes exhibit, a automotive/spaceship exhibit and a solar house.Sadly, this was my familys first experience at a museum.... it was lackluster. I feel like if we went to another museum with more exhibits we wouldve enjoyed our time more.It was somewhat interactive, sure, but with only 3 exhibits and a solar house there wasnt much variety. Of course, the planetarium was an option, but you have to pay extra for it.We left unsatisfied and underwhelmed.

Super great experience. They have exhibits geared towards any age and interest level. Im a biomedical research scientist, and there was stuff that I was interested in, stuff my wife (who is more of a creative type) really enjoyed, and stuff to keep our 1-year-old and 3-year-old entertained. You even get to dig for fossils and pan for real semi precious stones and take them home! And theyre part of a larger program with hundreds of other science museums worldwide so we actually got in free with our membership to the McWane Science Center in Birmingham. Had loads of fun and will definitely go back if were ever in the area again.

A similar distance north of Cartersville is Tellus Science Museum. More than three times the size of the Booth Western Art Museum at more than 36,000 square metres in area, this museum focuses on natural history. As a result, it contains a large fossil gallery, and visitors are met by the brontosaurus skeleton that dominates the main lobby. The Vault gallery displays local discoveries of minerals and objects from our distant past, complementing the Weinman Mineral Gallery. In addition, there is also the Millar Science in Motion Gallery of transport, and the Bentley Planetarium.

Wow! Well worth the drive. My family took a drive to this Science facility located in Cartersville, GA. The facility well over 120,000 sq. ft. focused on all things Science. Thoroughly impressed. We were extremely excited to visit because my daughter will be leaving for college soon to study Biomedical Engineering and my stepdaughter will be leaving for college soon to study a STEM focused program. My love and I try to find activities for the family that will increase their love for science.Allison, the service desk attendant was very accommodating and well versed in all things pertaining to the Museum. Our first stop was the Weinman Mineral Gallery. Thousands of minerals, gems and gold to view. I was mind blown. Our second stop was the Fossil Gallery. By far the largest exhibit of fossils that Ive seen.We then entered the Bently Planetarium to watch the 45 show. The tickets to this show was an additional $3.50. Inexpensive for a 45 minute show in a comfy, cozy space. After the Planetarium show, we visited the Miller Science in Motion Museum. So many exhibits of vehicles, aircraft and so much more. The family and I then headed to the Vulcan Materials Gem Panning area. We all enjoyed this activity. We then headed over to the Fossil dig. What an adventurous time indeed. Unfortunately we did not take a tour of the West Virginia University Solar House because the next tour was set to start after our departure, we will be visiting again. It was a phenomenal experience for my entire family. I would recommend. Five stars indeed.
