I had a great experience using Sixt at the San Juan Airport! Eileen made the check-out experience seamless and we were given refreshments upon arrival. Check-in was even easier and we hopped in a nice shuttle to the airport. We were pleasantly surprised with the whole process from start to finish.Before you go make sure you understand your rental car insurance coverages and whether or not you need to purchase the toll pass, which was around $8 per day.

Today I went to pick up the rental which I had for 4pm. I arrived at 430pm to the Sixt rental place in San Juan Puerto Rico. Myself, my partner who suffers from heat exhaustion and my child. Waited for 2 hours in the heat. She was on verge of passing out. I was quoted one price online and was charged $409 more than the quote. I paid for roadside assistance. I got a flat at 10pm with my child and partner. I called 3 times no answer for road side. I had to flag down the police.This place is a false advertisement lawsuit waiting to happen. I had a bad experience once with Sixt and wanted to give them another chance. It’s been three weeks and I still haven’t received my deposit back. Anyone who works for this company should be ashamed of themselves

Take the chance you won’t regret it. I know the other reviews seem really bad but remember when things go right people don’t take the time to leave a review saying that. I rented a car and there was no 3 hour wait, the wait was maybe 30 minutes the MAX. The car was clean and in great condition. The waiting area was under a tarp with chairs so that wasn’t bad either. Service from the front desk ladies was 10/10. Don’t believe everything you read from these Karen’s and take the chance!

We were not sure about this rental company since we have never heard of it. Unfortunately, its the only place who has available cars during our visit to Puerto Rico. Its about 1.5 miles away from the airport. Too bad you cant walk it since its all highway. We go to the airport and per the instructions is to go outside in the middle island and look for a black van with orange Sixt logo. We did not see any. We called the company and they said that they paged the driver and he will arrive in 15 minutes. Five minutes later he came. Very nice driver even helped us with our luggage getting in and out of the van. Tipped him nicely. We waited about 20 minutes before we got our vehicle since they are limiting the number of people in the office. The car they gave us was actually a good size and very nice. To make the long story short we had a very good experience with this company at this location 2220 Calle Celestial, 00979 Carolina, Carolina, PR. Highly recommended. If you enjoy waiting for hours and hours for a prepaid reservation, particularly at night with an exhausted toddler, then by all means choose this place. I wish I had read the reviews before I tried to save a few bucks by booking here. We are not the only people - everyone was in this situation - and several groups gave up and called an Uber. Yup, its that bad. Stay away.

After having a horrible experience at the airport coming into Puerto Rico it was nice to have someone with excellent customer service. Jose who was our shuttle driver was very nice courteous and explained the whole process. Unlike the people working in the airport he was not condescending he did not talk down to us and he was very polite and not rude. Jose turned a bad experience into a good experience and uplifting our Souls.

On time of need Christopher (Manager) and his Team was there to help. I ended up with a family emergency in which was a short notice travel. Having trouble with other car rental companies around the area I reached to them. Christopher was able to accommodate me and my family. The communication was great and their care with the Covid precautions were awesome. We came the time to return the vehicle I was provide with an additional credit. Thanks a-lot Christopher! My family really appreciate it. You made that a stressful situation to go easy.

We are currently in a vehicle and have been calling the number for this location all week. The vehicle is infested with roaches and the location will not answer the phone. This has been a terrible experience so I left the review with the hopes someone will contact us. We picked up the vehicle Monday and have an abundance of roaches in the vehicle daily. It’s disgusting.I had to buy roach spray to try and kill them. Look at the pics, we’ve killed over 20 today. Finally some one reaches out (go figure) and tell us they will give us a discount smh

If you want the best deal for your buck then Sixt is the way! Don’t expect amazingly fast service once you get there. And I may seem a bit sketchy driving through a neighborhood to get here. But all in all we expected exactly what we got based on what we paid. :) Shuttle was quick and efficient getting us to and from the airport. First getting the car took some time as the person may have been new. Drop off was quick and easy! We paid total after everything $150 for 7 days! :) Expect to pay more than you are quoted online once you arrive for tolls. This was fine for us as we drove east to west coast and back to San Juan. It was worth getting to speed through the tolls during our venturing! It is not located at the airport. But the drive to the rental location was fast and allowed us to see a bit of how driving was in PR before getting behind the wheel! Enjoy!

The worst of experiences. Do not rent cars to this company. I made a reservation 2 months ago because my son wanted me to rent a Jeep in Puerto Rico when he went to visit, a week before arriving I called to confirm my reservation and they said that everything was fine but to call the day before traveling. I call the day before arriving and they confirm that everything is fine. I arrived on Friday the flight was delayed a bit and with the covid form I went out to wait for the shuttle at 8:15 pm. I started to call to be picked up, they never answered and it took 30 min or more to arrive. My family gets on and the driver tells me the name of the reservation, I give it to him and he tells me I dont have it on the list, I show him the confirmation email and he communicates with the office and they tell him that they dont have the confirmation and that they dont want to they have cars. My family had to get out and we were left without a car. Both your employees and the entire Company are of no use. Be very careful if you are going to rent cars, for my part never again.

Youll pay twice as much as the original quote due to insurance fees with no option to decline.Theres a reason for that - even highways have big potholes in them and sure thing we hit one and damaged the tire.They make no attempt to warn you about that.Google driving in Puerto Rico before you go to stay safe.Other that that we enjoyed the experience.

UPDATE - I sent an email to Sixt per their note below and no-one responded. I sense they only posted it to give the perception that they care about customer service when in reality they dont. AVOID!++I frequently rent cars and this is by far the worst rental car experience I have ever had. We, along with all these people sitting in tents outside of the rental office, made reservations in advance but were told that they had a shortage of cars. Some folks had been waiting for over 2 hours. We finally gave up and left.If you are considering renting here, don’t. Not even if it’s your very last resort.

I rented a car from Sixt . The drivers were very nice from when they pick me up when they pick me up from the airport also when they dropped me off. The hole process was extremely smooth . The representative name Alison was sooooo nice respectful and her customer service skills is 💯. All of the staff were amazing and extremely helpful they also provided good recommendations for us. We had an issue with needing a bigger vehicle than planned but the staff were super accommodating and got us taken care of quickly. I seen the hot mess of rental car places at the airport and I’m SO GLAD we chose a car rental place just a few short minutes away. Overall when we return we will be back!Thanks Sixt Staff!

All 4 of my tires were stolen overnight, roadside assistance took 3 hours to get there. THEN, this place had the audacity of charging me $500 for having my tires stolen when this is covered. The hole was for $250, they refused to give it back until my bank called and made them release the funds. Then they somehow charged my card $500 and sent it into the negative over something that is completely out of my control. They marked it as “DAMAGES”, when damages should be covered, and it states the fee for damages should be no more than $150 in the contract. The woman at the counter was so rude and kept saying “we will get the money” with a snarky attitude and laughing in my face with a bad attitude. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!! they will scam you.

I was one of 2 customers and I waited more than 40 min to get 1 car. Shuttle service driver was friendly and helpful, everyone else I interacted with was SLOW and not helpful. Check-in Representative tries to trick you into purchasing coverage which you DO NOT need IF you have FULL coverage with your personal car insurance. Extra High charge for tolls, tolls in PR typically are $1-2 at a time and they charge >$7/DAY of rental. Unnecessarily high! Representative asked me to sign car inspection sheet BEFORE inspecting the car. DO NOT SKIP on going around the car with representative during inspection, he was picking and choosing which damages to identity and mark it on sheet. Inside of car was DIRTY, brown stains everywhere around the console and car fabric along ceiling. They gave the car with 1/4 of gas in the vehicle. I paid over $1000 to drive a dirty car for 6 days (that was thecheapest car available on the website).

Dont rent any cars from here. We rented the black jeep wrangler and it was infested with roaches. Just nasty and they know there cars has roaches. We had to return our rental mid-trip. They will not issue any refunds. Be careful!

I thought the folks who worked at this rental car facility were extremely accommodating and everything went really well. I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews online, but it seems like people are always going to leave a review when they have something to complain about. If you call their office once you’re getting your bags at the airport, they will send a shuttle to pick you up, they’ll have your name and will be waiting for you. Plan for a 20 minute wait to get out of the airport during Covid. Getting to the rental car facility was a breeze, and when I returned the car there was a bit of sand in the car but they didn’t seem to care at all. I would recommend Sixt and I appreciate their employees for making everything go so smoothly.

First time I rent from this agency. I must say that at their busiest time, they where amazing. Great customer service (they even gave you water and sugar waffles). We had hat to wait to get our car because so many people came at the same time, but they made our wait confortable. I typically try to rent in-airport, but my next trip I will go with them again, only a five minute drive to airport.

The only good service I can give 5 stars for is for the gentleman who drives the shuttle, nothing or no one else. I dont even know where to start. Yes what everyone says is very true the 2hr wait outside under a tarp. Yes, you make a reservation online and when you get there is a whole different price. More then what you already reserved for. They do not allow you to use your own insurance. If you try to they say the process will be longer because they need to contact the provider and see if they cover. Which a month ago I rented a car through enterprise and did not have to include full coverage, I was allowed to use my own insurance or obligated to include toll in my rental. The woman at the counter tried charging me almost $900 for a 2 day rental. Of course I got fustruated and asked questions and her response was who made the reservation you should have seen everything there. How unprofessional. Then when I went to return the car they could not find my reservation and when the guy who drives the shuttle tried to help me we noticed they had my return day as 7-4-21. Charged an extra day, I have no clue what they do because the reservation I made was from 7-1 to 7-3. Yes, not going to lie the guy who then proceeded to check me out did notified me they will return the extra day I was charged for. Never the less I was not going to write a review but yesterday as I got an alert from my bank they charged me another $250. I have been trying to call the office and no one there answers the phone. So I went a head and file claim with my bank. I also have not received the $250 deposit on my credit card as of today and I specifically asked if that money will be returned to my credit card and they assured me it would. Well guess what, I had to file a claim with my credit card as well. I do not recommend this agency at all. Save yourself the headaches and the trouble and the false advertisement.

Not the best location! Not the best price $180 compact price per day, total for two days with all taxes etc $500+. I know demand is high and I reserved one day in advance, so maybe it’s that.But I got really good service from shuttle bus drivers and counter staff.Thanks for having my car ready, it took less than 20 minutes.

Which didn’t take very long at all, they worked with us to give us the best deal & when there was a miscommunication about the return date between us and a employee they didn’t charge us the extra day which was very appreciated. I cannot give “Sixt Rent a Car” a full five stars due to my experience in waiting approximately three hours for a car, the aspects I saw the day that I went to pick it up, and the disorganization. Due to these reasons, I cannot give a complete five stars rating; however, I was very satisfied with the customer service provided by Karina, which was exceptional. She was very professional, kind, straight to the point, and clear. Everything was fine with the car that I rented (no issues whatsoever after getting out of the pick-up location.), and I had a good satisfactory experience overall. All the negative aspects mentioned above are probably due to them moving to a bigger location near Isla Verde Beach.

While the price was high for a minivan ($450/day) it was competitive for post COVID. Had a great experience, no hustle, and the process was relatively quick. GABRIELA and team were fantastic! Did not get up charged for insurance as I have the Chase Sapphire card and they just wanted my personal insurance info for liability. Easy peasy checkout as well. I booked direct on the Sixt website.Plan for some wait time for the shuttle as its not at the airport. Fill up on gas before you come to airport.

Just left landed at 1200 and finally got all 4 vehicles at 310pm. Line is insane and there is no organization or attempt of a system in place. Cant wait inside so you stand outside under a tarp in the heat. Employees exhibit no sense of urgency and is completely under staff. The shuttle was extremely late and in the 3hr wait he only made 3 trips to and from the airport. I can not recommend this location. 0/10!Update Jun 21 @1120, have been calling the office for almost 25 mins and no matter what option I choose (shuttle, reservations, collision or customer service) the phone rings and rings...then hangs up. How do they expect their customers to contact them. Good thing this isnt an emergency. Will try again soon.

Do NOT rent with them, even if you think you got a deal on a discount booking site. The staff is extremely rude here, and they take forever to get your your vehicle. Also, they will try to sell you on as much as they can. Just say no to everything you possibly can say no to. I used my insurance on my credit card and my liability through my personal insurance so that I wouldnt have to buy theres. They also charge a $250 deposit onsite that they didnt tell me about beforehand, so be prepared. They will return this amount after you bring the car back and they have a chance to fully inspect it within a week or two. This is also about 10 minutes from the airport and a real hassle to deal with at that distance. I recommend getting a vehicle right at the airport so that you dont have to worry about a taxi or shuttle, or them for that matter.

The place is an absolute fiasco and only concerned with their profit. Dont expect a speedy rental experience! We were faced with having this rental company as our only option and they knew it. The location is a dilapidated old house. Prepare to wait in scorching heat under a makeshift tent. The whole paperwork process is cumbersome and unnecessary especially when you have provided your information when you made the rental. Never had to provide my insurance carrier to a rental agency in the past 20 years. None of it makes sense and its a scare tactic for you to buy their insurance. Never again. (Ps- they want car returned full but the car wasnt full when we received it) The rest of Puerto Rico was amazing and they have really cleaned it up and the focus on tourists is first rate.

They tried to stick us with a $250 ticket from a prior driver. The ticket literally read 5/31/21. Our rental dates were 6/3/21-6/7/21. When we explained this to the receptionist, she acted like she was doing us a favor by not charging us. She was belligerent. The car was cool tho. Love Hyandai’s.

I was unable to book a car with a major car rental car company as it was a busy week for travelers, but Sixt had cars. Well, there’s a reason why they don’t sell out before the major carriers.The pick up van came quickly but no air conditioner.When I got dropped off at the rental location, there were three people in front of me. And unlike Enterprise, where you are in and out within minutes, it took almost 1 hour.When I returned the car, they charged me a hundred dollars extra because one of the tire was worn. I don’t know how they measured that but they charged me for it. All major car rental companies do not charge for tire wear, but this company does.Also, although I was the only person returning the car, it took nearly 30 minutes to check me out because they couldn’t find agreement paper.At the end, I cut my rental shorter as I was able to book a car with Enterprise.Do not rent a car from this company and save your tears for another day.

Terrible experience waiting multiple hours for a overpriced reserved car, utterly inattentive and unhelpful staff, forced to sit under makeshift tents for hours on end with no promise of when our car would be retrieved. i would consider this my absolute last option in the future, and would never even consider it again, regardless of my situation. every patron was utterly hopeless after the grueling wait, including myself. on top of this, the car was filthy and has obviously been neglected and rarely cleaned. the building is a run-down shack on the side of the highway, and the cars are all parked on the side of the road, presenting a very awkward retrieval process for the staff. very pathetic and unprofessional.

I would give them zero stars if I could. Waited over 35 minutes for the shuttle from the airport, only to arrive at a line of about 40 people waiting for vehicles. Their turnover rate is roughly 2 customer ever 12 minutes. Yikes.

Today we had such a great experience renting a mid sized SUV from SIXT (Sân Juan). The manager Ms. Jairelis Vasquez as well as the rep who handled our reservation were super friendly and accomodating. The shuttle driver from LMM airport was courteous and helpful too. We received a nice clean rental for a fraction of the cost of other companies.I highly recommend this location for your next visit to the Sân Juan area.

Worst car rental place ever. Theyre a bunch of scammers. Dont rent from them. They dont even deserve the one star I gave them but they wouldnt let me post a review without a star. We rented and entered into a contract in February 2021 to travel in June 2021. The price was $575.00 they confirmed the day before via email. When we got to the airport we were on the bus shuttle list. But when we got to the car rental place they told us that our reservation was canceled in March and that if we wanted to rent a car we would have to pay as a new walk-in at that days price which the car rental amount was $2,520.00 not including the tolls and insurance they charge you up front. It was either rent it or stay without a car since there were no car rentals available anywhere. We requested to speak to the corporate office and even they would not honor the original contract which we had a copy of that they had sent us the day before we were to travel. We found out at the car rental place that we werent the only ones they did this to. There were other families that were scammed as well. So do yourself a favor and avoid renting from Sixt. Consider yourself warned....were still trying to fight the charges...

I have a reservation to pick up tonight but reading all these reviews makes me nervous. I tried calling this company to make sure about my reservation and the shuttle bus. I get in late tonight. No one picks up the phones. Been calling for 1/2 hour. I press reservations and it rings rings then hangs up. I tried calling back to speak to shuttle. Rings rings then hangs up. I mean is this a place if business that the system prompts to who you would like to talk to and no one picks up. I just want to know do I have to call to be picked up?Update: so I get there and more charges added and they wanted 250 deposit. Usually 500 but due to covid it’s half. Also they throw on all these little things here and there. Like the tolls. There excuse was there is no one who collects the money for tolls only to load your card. Unbelievable… so beware of the add ons.

I am giving them two stars-one because they have a really nice team and one because they gave us water and cookies and directed us to wait in the shade upon arrival to pick up our car. The vehicle was clean and suited our needs. The staff was friendly and professional and overall kind. On the return shuttle to the airport, the ride back to SJU was pleasant and the driver was professional and polite. Both drivers to and from helped with loading and unloading the luggage. We tipped $1 per bag.However, this is where I want to post an honest review of our experience so it can help other travelers. We landed at SJU airport at 1:30p.m. on Saturday, 7/31. The shuttle that comes every 15 minutes took 75 minutes to arrive. I had to call several times and no one answered (I tried the Spanish and English lines each in turn). There was a whole group of travelers waiting to take the shuttle in the heat. My husband and I took our little ones on our laps so another couple could ride the shuttle. The driver was friendly and apologetic.Bring copies of your personal car insurance from home if you are from the USA (we did, after reading another review) to avoid mandatory add-on fees for local car insurance. The renter in front of us did not and had to add on insurance.I rented the car in my name, not my husbands, which I always have done, since I do all of our travel planning. They made me add him as a driver at $11 a day, so that mistake cost me $77 right there, even though I told them I had no intentions of driving the car. You need the car in the drivers name and you have to present the credit card you used.Tolls-we ended up using the tolls a handful of times, not the $8 a day we had to add on to avoid local surcharges as we dont have the PR equivalent of an Eazy Pass. Another $56.There was a roadside assistance fee of $3 a day (never used, and a bunch of taxes) after we thought we had paid in full with Priceline.All in all, we had to pay $170 in fees locally, and based on the other reviews, this is not uncommon. We dont like surprises when we booked and paid back in February with a non-refundable rental.In the future we would go with another car rental company. preferably one onsite at the airport, and one that doesnt hit you with long waits and fees. Not sure we saved any money based on the prices we saw back in February.

DO NOT RENT YOUR CAR WITH PRICELINE/SIXT if i could leave no stars i would they’re scamming people out of their money we were waiting forever just for the guy not to know his math and change the price like five different times. Save your time and energy with these people. They will not give you the car you chose online they’ll give you a completely different brand and say “it’s the same thing”

What an awesome experience I had at Sixt Rent A Car in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I already had a low price when I booked the car online, but when I arrived and needed a larger vehicle for an additional person that joined us on vacation, Karina Rivera, helped me secure a vehicle that was perfect for us!! The ease with which everything was done was better than the service I have received at larger car rental places like Budget and others. I highly recommend using Sixt Rent A Car in San Juan ... you will be very happy you did!!!

READ BEFORE RENTINGI would NEVER recommend.. Story timeArrive to Puerto Rico, we drove directly to pick up the rental. We requested a Dodge Ram pick up or similar. The truck was a worker pick up truck only thing it was missing was a work label. we wasn’t going for it. They was complaining saying they didn’t have other vehicles to lendus they were completely booked. All of a sudden they offered a 2022 Kia Sportage, that was cool better than the workers truck. Went to the hotel checked in went to dinner. Went to a roof top dinner lounge, parked in front of restaurant. Made sure the doors was locked the neighborhood was a lil sketchy. We came out the vehicle was gone. There was no glass at the scene so no force entry. Called the police vehicle was not towed. Asked the restaurant if they seen anything? They told us no. The car rental place acted like it was our fault very horrible experience. Told us we can never rent from them again like we care. The kicker… rental car place gave us one key also told us it’s no tracker on the vehicle. Like whatttttt 2022 Kia no tracker and a rental at that. Woke up there’s a claim filed on my insurance. I knew that was the next step but they thirsty and shady. The car jacker had to be a trained professional like come on. Sixt stole the rental Would never recommend

Reserved a truck for a week but they canceled my reservation since my flight was delayed (even though they specifically ask for your flight number so they can keep track of when you land). Waited over 45 mins for the shuttle from the airport to Sixt. Waited another 30 mins to speak to someone after we arrived at which point they wanted to charge me as a walk-in and did not want to honor the rate I was originally given online (even if I settled for a small economy car).

After a very stressful day at the airport, I was NOT expecting more stress to come from a car rental I made a reservation for. The representative I spoke with on site failed to mention any additional charges and did not go over the reservation before charging my account. I had never agreed to 5 additional features/CHARGES that were added to my reservation. The price I was charged for was nearly 3 TIMES more then what was shown online. It has caused a huge inconvenience for me and my girlfriend during our vacation here for my birthday. If you want honesty and professionalism, DO NOT come here.

Do NOT rent here!! I come to the Island twice a year and have rented a lot of cars but this was by far THE WORSE. Waited nearly three hours to be attended and get my car. Then there’s hidden fees. Had to extend the rental days and they doubled the daily cost. They told me that returning the car is much faster. Upon return waited 30 mins for them to attend me to look over the car and sign the contract and then another 45 for the shuttle as they only had one running at the time. Nearly missed my flight. Go to Charlie’s, Aces, Nu he’ll even to one of the major companies in the airport but NEVER SIXT again

It is a very small operation in a very cramped neighborhood with many potholes and water puddles all around. Only one clerk doing the paperwork while two other sit at their desks. We waited about 1 hour for the paperwork to pick up the car. On return it was very difficult to find a place to park the car. A huge pot hole on the side of the road where the drop off location is made hard to park the car. The airport shuttle was useful but of course the driver ran a red light on the way to the airport.

I rented a car ($200/day) for a day and returned the car 2 months ago. Today i saw they charged my credit card $88.10 for some toll violation. After calls after calls with them, i learnt that I signed to decline their toll service which i would get charged $10 plus cost of toll each time. I was only aware that i signed to decline the insurance because i’m fully insured by my insurance company. Now they are charging $88 for $8 toll useage and call it “a violation”.To the car rental company: why you invented such an unreasonable policy just to trick customers? If a customer walks away with not agreeing to the toll service, you probably know that they are either not explained well or misunderstood your misleading contract. I have rented from many rental car companies and never had any issues with toll services.Most of the car rental companies have built in toll passes and don’t have small prints on the contract to charge customer 10 times more than the toll cost and customers don’t know about it until 2 months later.I am having my credit card company deny the transaction and seeking more clarification from the company regarding this policy.

I would not give this company a chance! They were horrible! If I could put a 0 star rating I would. I called them 5 times to make sure that I would have a car and they said I should be fine. I got there and they told me that they were overbooked and that the car is no longer available. I spoke to the supervisor and he told me he would look around to see if he could find another car company that could help us, but he never came back and spoke to us. We were not the only family that was turned away either. There were a couple a families that reserved a car, but they were denied and taken back to the airport. So, I paid $200 for no reason and was not able to get my money back. Thank you Sixt for a horrible experience.
