Whether on the digital platform or in person you would be hard pressed to engage with a warmer more pleasant couple of people than Paul and Michelle Enfield. Having the renowned reputation, body of knowledge and skill that they do, encountering their genuine friendliness and warmth is very welcomed. The Karate that they teach is second to none in depth and effectiveness. What is just as impactful is their methods of teaching often complex techniques and principles in ways that make them readily graspable. This is an excellent dojo from which to learn karate with its full spectrum of personal benefits!

Paul and Michelle Enfield are hands down some of the best Karate instructors in the United States. The Goju Karate Center is not only a great place to have your kids trained in responsibly, discipline, and teamwork along with some real world skills, but its an excellent place for adults to train, get it shape, and learn real Okinawan Karate.

GKC headed by Paul Enfield Sensei and Michelle Sensei is one of the best dojo in the world for Okinawan Goju instruction and training. Their knowledge and experience runs deep and having experienced training at the dojo, I can highly recommend it to anyone with a more than a perfunctory interest in Okinawan karate.

As a martial artist of over 30 years, there is nothing I dont like about GKC and the instructors. Sensei Paul Enfield and Sensei Michelle Vanderlinden-Enfield are world leaders in goju karate and set the bar higher than Ive ever seen before in terms of leadership. They run a tight ship and teach the life skills all karate schools should strive to teach.Their karate isnt just traditional, its modern functional. They have experience across multiple forms of combat, and at the heart of it all is the purest form of Okinawan goju karate that is easy to fall in love with.Three and half years ago when I started looking for a new instructor, I wasnt just looking for good karate, I was looking for good people. When I found GKC and the Enfields, I found both.

The sensei Noah is an excellent teacher. He was firm but extremely positive. Class ran a little long because he was more concerned about the quality of his students performance rather than making good time.Update: So Im not the parent that thinks their kid is perfect. My son has 0 attention span. They had to patience for him and asked him to leave. They never followed up with us.We took my son to United Studios of self defense where they have all the time in the world to work with him. They take their time and really make sure he know that Karate is not just punches and kick . I like where we are now, but this Goju place is cool but they are short on patience.

My son attends the dojo since he was 5 years old and we see steady improvements in his focus, confidence, self-respect, and as a result of these, good progress in school. The initial program is focused on early development of these listed qualities and we see everyday commitment to the goal. If you would like you child to become a well rounded, focused, confident and goal driven person, this is the place we would recommend for a start.

There are a lot of karate schools around and it is difficult for anyone starting out to sort the wheat from the chaff. After 25 years of training with many internationally renowned karate instructors, I can assure you that you will receive the very highest standards of instruction in traditional Japanese karate here. I visisted this dojo from the UK and was made very welcome by Senseis Paul and Michelle and the rest of their students and instructors. Dont be taken in by flashy marketing and promises of accelerated courses. If you want to learn karate, it takes hard work and commitment and you cannot progress without a good teacher. Looking forward to my next visit already.

I started training here more than five years ago, at age 42, knowing nothing about karate. I was welcomed immediately, treated with respect, care, and kindness.I have received great instruction and attention from all the instructors. Each has a unique perspective. Nobody rests on his or her laurels here, though many could. The instruction evolves; new ideas are welcomed and integrated with tradition. Special seminars are offered throughout the year, and opportunities to participate in demonstrations are available to all.The Senseis all stay current with continuing education, and they share what they know willingly. They travel to seminars all over the world for their own training, and they bring in teachers and students from out of state--and out of the country--to enrich everyones experience. The students have taught me much as well. Theyre quick to share what they know and they have bonded with one another. As a woman, it was important to me to find a school where I would be on even footing with men. I revere and respect tradition, but I didnt want to be marginalized because of it, and I certainly havent been. Theres a sense of egalitarianism in the dojo that I really appreciate.Im moving out of state, but will continue my membership because I so strongly believe in the quality of instruction at Goju Karte Center.

You will find personal, detailed instruction here, delivered directly from recognized leaders and innovators in Okinawan GojuRyu. Minutes away from the train station and 2 large roads, its very accessible. They teach the art in its full spectrum; kata, kihon and kumite, with a strong emphasis on the bunkai and the philosophy of the style. Its the original item served in a clean, brightly lit space. Dont miss t!

This dojo is truly a hidden treasure! If you are seeking a place to learn traditional karate, then look no further! Sensei Paul Enfield and Sensei Michelle Enfield are truly of the highest caliber, both as instructors and as people. I have found their instruction to be practical, insightful, and thought-provoking. They challenge me to be a better, stronger, and more well-rounded human being. They also do not rest on their laurels. They train extensively on their own time, and travel across the world to train with and learn from the best whenever they can. They seek self-improvement in themselves and never stop learning, which I believe is of the utmost importance in a sensei. They are fully committed to making this dojo a place where you can receive quality training, and they are constantly seeking to improve their training program in any way they can.The other students in the dojo are very kind and accomplished as well, and I immediately felt welcomed by all when I first started training here. The dojo has cultivated a positive and healthy atmosphere, and it is the kind of place that you are proud to be associated with. I have been attending classes at this dojo for almost two years, and I look forward to training here for many more!

This is, without a doubt, one of the finest locations for authentic karate training that I have ever visited.Sensei Paul Enfield has several decades of diligent training experience that has lead to a profound level of skill and understanding of advanced karate concepts. Through his recent efforts to share his knowledge to the broader international martial arts community, he has quickly established a well-deserved reputation as the person who knows his stuff when it comes to karate.Sensei Michelle Enfield, also a highly technical practitioner, also brings a strong academic and practical expertise in youth development to the dojo. Working together, Sensei Paul and Michelle have created a leadership skills program through karate that is simply amazing to see. I cant imagine a parent observing their program and not wanting their kids involved. They both sincerely care deeply about all of their students, and have built a highly successful dojo where the best interests of the students are always a priority. If this review seems a little over-the-top its only because I think so highly of them. So much so that I am moving from the east coast primarily to join their dojo. If you, on the other hand, are local to Carlsbad, please dont miss the chance to train (or enroll your kids) in this wonderful program that is setting an example of excellence that others look to around the world.
