Both my kids and I both take classes and we love it. Hands down the best classes to put your kids in if you want to raise kind, compassionate, and disciplined kids.

Wonderful all-around activity/organization to be involved in: top-notch encouraging instructors, family-focused and highly communicative, and so much fun for the kids, all while practicing health and life skills they can continue to incorporate at home. Would highly recommend to ANY parent/family for ANY child. My son and daughter can’t get enough!

I have personally trained with the instructors since I was in 3rd grade. Since then I have never stopped. I have went to every class I could and grew my martial art skills immensely. Not only did this class help me with martial arts, it made me a better all around athlete. I am a multiple sport player including basketball and lacrosse. Both of them require physicality and athleticism. This class built my strength, endurance, body control and much more. This business fully deserves 5 stars and made me who I am.

We have had the best experience at Swiftkick. The instructors are so great with children and amazing teachers. This martial arts program not only teaches self defense in a practical way it gives children self confidence! They also focus on teaching perseverance, focus, respect and self control. There is a true level of care and intent for each child that enters the program. My son has been attending for nearly 2 years and he has improved in more ways then I would have imagined from a martial arts class!

This business fully embodies what it means to get 5-stars! Truly an exceptional team of leadership and instructors. They are caring, intentional, attentive and fully engaging for their students. The training these kids (mine are 6 and 10) receive has implications that go far beyond the skill of martial arts. We have seen significant improvement in home behavior and discussions surrounding personal improvement and discipline in the home since beginning our training with Brian and his uniquely exceptional and vested team of instructors.

We started our 6 year old son in Swiftkick over the summer after we had walked by it a few times during classes. My son expressed an interest in learning martial arts and so we thought wed give it a go. I have to say I am extremely impressed with everything we have seen so far. All the teachers are extremely supportive, patient, and friendly. I also like that they focus on the tenants of martial arts as well as technique (i.e. honor, attentiveness, integrity, perseverance, self-control, courtesy). We noticed an immediate improvement in our sons behavior at home after the first two weeks. I cant really say enough good things about Brian and his team. I would recommended Swiftkick to anyone. A fantastic experience.

My six year old son has been training with Swiftkick for over a year, and we absolutely cant say enough great things about Coach Brian and his team! The instructors are fantastic with the kids, and along with having a fun, exciting place to learn self defense and martial arts, he is learning self control, mindfulness and important lessons that hell take with him throughout his life. Brian and his team are positive, supportive and are always willing to go the extra mile for the kids. I highly recommend Swiftkick, so happy we are part of this amazing program!

My 7 year old daughter started Swiftkick in August of 2017, and we couldnt be happier. I couldnt agree more with all the tenets they teach the kids, as they are rules to live by. My daughter is learning focus, respect and determination, not to mention shes getting pretty good at Martial Arts! I cannot wait to see how far she gets in 6 months from now! Thank you to all the caring and extremely professionals you have here teaching our kiddos!

My son has been training with Swiftkick Martial Arts Carlsbad for four years. Brian and his instructors are amazing at not only teaching the children self defense and martial arts techniques, but teaching them valuable life skills such as self control and respect for parents and authority. I am so grateful for the martial arts training my 8 year old has received from Swiftkick Martial Arts. I highly recommend.

My kids have been working with Brian for over 7 years now and the program has helped them in so many ways beyond just the traditional martial arts. His methods are focused on the kid and their individual abilities as well as being well rounded outside of the martial arts (at home and at school). He and his staff are fantastic and dedicated to the kids.

What a truly refreshing approach to self defense. This program emcompasses the best from all martial arts and wraps it into a program that teaches you to be prepared for real life scenarios. I loved this program so much I even signed up my 3yr old daughter who looks forward to each class.

My kids love coming karate! My daughter started at the age of 3 and is now 6 1/2. She even broke her first board at 3 years old. My son started at 4 and is now 8 1/2 years old. They are always learning new techniques while perfecting the previously learned ones. They spend a portion of class learning/reinforcing good behavior which has been extremely beneficial. Brian is always willing to help with any issues kids are having outside of class. No matter how many other sports or activities we have, we always find a way to continue with karate. All of the instructors are very committed to the kids improving, feeling welcomed, and part of the team

My eight year daughter has been attending Swift Kick for a year. We are thrilled with the program as it provide real-life defensive and offensive tactics that children can use. At the end of every session they talk about character, leadership and focus. The instructors are all very upbeat, patient and positive and are great with the kids. Kids earn belts when they master the modules. They genuinely earn the belts and stripes, not like some studios where you might see a 6 year old black belt. Each belt is celebrated with the entire class. We love this place!

Ive been taking my son to Swiftkick for 6 months now and absolutely loving it. Weve tried a few different places in the past and this one is by far the best...according to both my son and myself. My daughter has been enjoying watching every class her brother has gone to and cant wait to sign up. I really like that they have a different module every 6 weeks where they focus on specific tenant (such as respect, self control, etc) and Brian sits down with them during every class and not only goes over what it means but also has the kids give there thoughts as to what it means. He is very involved in all the students and gets to know each family. He is there to help with whatever problems your child may be dealing with. The entire staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to ensure that your child is comfortable as well as focused. This is the best family friendly martial arts place!

My boys 9 & 11 have been at Swiftkick for over a year now. They are both involved in multiple sports, yet find the time to make it one to two classes a week. We love the team of instructors, the personal care they give to each and every child, and the constant contact they have with us parents :)

I have been training with SwiftKick for the past several months. The instructors are extremely good and I have really liked the blended martial arts approach. I have 3 small children and have signed them up as well, and all of them love it. It has really helped me with my fitness goals as well as helped me learn new self defense techniques.

Swiftkick is a great place for kids. My girls love working with Brian and they are learning invaluable life lessons that should help protect them, someday, against that person(s) wanting to do them harm. I highly recommend the program.

Swiftkick is amazing! The staff are incredibly personable, patient and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend it for anyone that is interested in MMA self defense and I believe you can come take a free class to evaluate if it is for you. The focus is to learn and apply self defense skills. As such there is a great balance between respecting and encouraging others and punching stuff. :D Since the philosophy of Swiftkick is to empower us with an applicable knowledge, we actually do a fair amount of light sparring in class to practice skills in addition to drilling technique. I originally started at Swiftkick for fitness but I have learned a ton and I think learning a skill actually makes the fitness part more fun. At least if I were put into a scenario where I had to protect myself I would be a lot less panicked. Haha. So whether you want to build some stamina, lose a few extra pounds or learn how to punch the snot out of an attacker, Swiftkick is the place to be.

I recently switched myself and my kids to Swiftkick after all of us doing taekwondo. We love TKD but I wanted to get the kids into something that was focused more on applicable skills vs. forms and competition. On the flip-side, I also didnt want to enroll my kids in a UFC-type MMA school either. I want them to be martial artists that know how to defend themselves, but Im not trying to make them cage fighters.Swiftkick keeps the structure with the belts and testing and teaches the life-skills like respect and character that you get from a traditional martial-arts school (perfect for the kids), but gives them a more applicable martial-arts training that I really wanted for them. It isnt about how many trophies or competitions they win, or how quickly they can get a black belt, its about their character, their confidence and their true abilities to defend themselves. On that note, getting a black belt will take a lot of years and a lot of effort. If youre looking for a place to get your black belt easily or quickly, look elsewhere. This is definitely NOT a McDojo belt factory. If youre looking to learn some real skills and put in a lot of time and sweat to get them, this is the place. It sounds tough and weve only been going for a short while, but my kids absolutely LOVE going to class. Theyre actually upset when we cant take them due to a scheduling conflict. The instructors are really great with the kids and do a great job of providing feedback throughout class. Im beyond impressed with their patience and ability to keep the kids focused. I would fail miserably at this. Theyre also great communicating with the parents, which sounds trivial but is very important if youre going to be spending years at a school. This is in addition to the instructors being great role models for the kids; not only in their martial arts abilities, but in their character as well. Theyre great people and the atmosphere is really positive. Brian sets a great example and has a fantastic team.As for adults, the program is geared more toward our busy lives so some of the formality is gone, but the training is essentially the same. I train with the teenagers too so I get to experience both. There are no tournaments and stress about competing, so for me with my busy schedule, not having the guilt of not competing was very refreshing. It also isnt just a self-defense program where you learn how to respond to prescribed attacks. Theyre really trying to create skilled and well-rounded martial artists that deal in the unpredictable.I’ve trained in both karate and taekwondo so it is really fun being utterly humbled by 12 yr old kids at Swiftkick, and seeing the skills of their 16-18 yr old siblings, who have also been with the school for years, is simply inspiring (there are no “blackbelt fails” here). Oh… and for those of us old farts that sit behind a desk all day, the warm-up is rough but in a good way. I love the workout. I need the workout. Trying to keep up with teenagers just makes me wish I were 30 years younger. So I’m sorry for the horribly long review, but the school is great. I love the philosophy, the people, the skills we’re learning, and the workout. I love everything about it.

I started training MMA when a friend invited me to try out the Champion class in Carlsbad about a year and 4 months ago. At first, I was committed to the classes for the short membership and then I started to see so many benefits in other areas of my life.I learned:-The things I say inside my head matter. It is important to focus on the positive and coach my body into alignment with the skills im working on instead of the things I have not yet mastered.-The ways I engage or disengage from the various ranges also are seen in the ways I confront or handle hard situations in life-Expressing my needs and communicating what I need help at will always advance me to the next level-My body loves the modules where we have a lot of high intensity workouts in short bits, i like grounding and focusing on my breath.-When I am unable to train, I really miss the release of energy and the physical benefits of a good workout and my training partners.-and more....What have you got to lose? Maybe youll learn many other things in addition to have a great workout and training experience too! Youll love the coaches and interactions at either location but im biased of course to Carlsbad :)
