The home of MIT’s Open Document Lab is an old and dated space. The theatre is cramped with perhaps the most uncomfortable seats in which I’ve ever sat. There is simply no leg room, and my knees and back revolted after several minutes of sitting in such cramped style. However, the work that goes on in this space is on the cutting edge of co-creation and documentary filmmaking. The speakers at our conference were articulate, intelligent, culturally-aware and sensitive, and provocative. I came away from their talks with a renewed sense of purpose and vigor for my own storytelling. But those seats . . . oh, those seats. I’m still feeling their effect.
