The Director of The Gables, Derek, was extremely helpful and supportive of my Mom while she lived there. When I would visit she would say how nice he was to her and how she enjoyed his dog. The food was excellent as I was even able to enjoy a lunch with my Mom when she first arrived and we had seconds! Kathryn RN is first class as my first career was in the medical field and she knew what to say and more importantly what to do to make my Mom comfortable. All the nurses aides were friendly and encouraged my Mom to participate and would take the time to talk with her and learn more about her wonderful full life. Thank you everyone at The Gables for an extraordinary experience and helping my Mom.

My mother and I visited 6 independent living facilities for her 4 months ago. We both liked The Gables the best. We were impressed with the staff at the gables. Other places we visited we felt like we were treated like a number. After her living there for 3 months she has made several friends and we both are very happy. The staff is very professional and treats everyone like family. The way they have handled Covid-19 has been impressive. We highly recommend The Gables.

We checked out several assisted/memory care facilities before deciding on Gables for our Mom. We chose Gables because of their proximity to family members, their recently renovated facilities and the small number of residents in the memory care section. We have been very pleased with the quality of care provided by the staff. We have seen them demonstrate kindness, caring, patience and understanding when assisting our mom with her daily needs. What is most important to us, along with Mom’s safety, is that she is treated with respect and dignity. We’ve seen that behavior with the staff and appreciate their services.

We had my 92 yr momma at the Gables in Caldwell. From the very first day of our arrival, the Staff were so friendly and yet very professional, looking out for my mama. They were always there and available to go above and beyond for any of her needs. They continued to provide everything that she could have needed there while she was staying there. My mama is a Hiroshima survivor. And since coming to the United States back in the late 50s, she has never been alone. With my family knowing this, we decided that it would be a good idea to remodel part of our home to meet her needs. The family decided that they would assist and help with her care.So the remodel began and just a few months later, I had a conversation with the manager, Derek Westover. I told him that we were ready to bring my mama home so she could be with me and see her grandchildren and great grandchildren more often. The response I got from Derek was surprising, I thought for sure he would be looking at the dollar signs as most facilities do. Especially the one she was at before! Well his response was very pleasant. He encouraged and supported us and felt that it would be very good for her to be with her family full time.Although he hated to see her live because they became friends. There are so many people in facilities that are alone without family members visiting or family members do not live close by.He welcomes us back anytime that she may need to come in or just to visit or two have a place to go for a few days if needed. She made friends there quickly within 24 hours. She enjoys crocheting and met the sweetest lady to crochet with.Derek is so accommodating and such a super nice guy with a stellar staff. I would not want her to be anywhere else if she had to go back into an assisted living/care facility. She is continuing to thrive and crochet and yes still doing pretty good, and are so happy to have her home with us!I want to think the Gables assisted living, their staff and everyone involved there especially Derek Westover for all the individual and loving care that they gave my mama during her stay and to all of our family members and friends that visited her while she was there! Many thanks from our family❤️

We can’t say enough good things about the gables, we would recommend them to anyone. The staff took great care of our loved one while she was there for over 6 months and kept her comfortable in her final days. The facility is decorated so cute, it’s brand new and always clean. The staff was always welcoming when we would drop in and they had great nurses who could talk to our loved one with dementia. Our loved one enjoyed her time there and we will always be grateful for the gables and all they did for our family.

The Gables in Caldwell was under review by the ombudsman shortly after opening their doors. My loved one was one of the first residents. I cannot recommend this facility. Lack of quality care and leadership. Before putting my loved one in this facility i had a lengthy discussion with Derek about her care needs. He assured me that she would have an eating and drinking schedule. That they would fix her her favorite finger foods. That they would take good care of her. That she would have activities and that his staff had training in caring for Alzheimers patients. He told me of his plans to have monthly training to further the education of the staff. If we hadnt been able to visit, our loved one likely would have passed months earlier than she did. In my opinion the Caldwell facility is the reason my loved one passed away less than 5 months of being admitted to the Gables. She ended up in the hospital because she fell and no one checked on her from 11pm to almost noon the next day. When she was placed at the Gables she was feeding herself finger foods. At first they gave her food that was messy and impossible to eat with her fingers. I had given Derek a long list of foods that she would and could eat. Later the cook told me they just take whatever they are feeding everyone else and modify it to make it a finger food. Example, the residents got mashed potatoes, she got boiled potatoes cut into pieces. Very difficult to eat and messy as a finger food. After she started losing weight they finally started giving her special food that she liked and could eat, but she quickly lost the ability to feed herself so she was dependent on the staff to feed her.Without providing proper training and leadership the Gables is failing these residents. One of the other reviews on here is written by a person that has a social media agency. She reviewed more than one of the Gables facilities. It makes me question whether she has even been to the facilities or was she hired to promote the Gables? The other person that wrote reviews also wrote reviews on more than one of the facilities. I include these observations since one of the reasons we chose the Gables was because of the positive Google reviews. The other was the seemingly accommodating, caring, assurance of training, etc. by Derek. We had 6 of us that visited the facility before making that decision to place her there and we were all deceived.I could go on and on about the incompetence we encountered.

Following a challenging conclusion at a previous Assisted Living/Memory Care facility we embarked on an exhausting time sensitive search for an alternative. In short, Derek’s (the Administrator) positive demeanor and compassion was a key factor leading to our decision to place our loved one at The Gables of Caldwell. After 6-months - we could not be more pleased with our decision. The staff persistently exhibit personal familiarity/care. Derek has observed, advised, and acted on several opportunities/ideas to promote vitality. Our decision to use the integrated 3rd party Primary Care Provider (PCP), and Pharmacy services has straightened out several challenges we dealt with prior to The Gables - such a relief. Unsolicited, our loved one acknowledges they “take good care of me here”.I feel we are part of a team focused on our loved one’s optimal quality of life and I am grateful.

My mom was placed at The Gables in June of 2020. She loves living there and says Derek, Caroline and the staff treat her like family. I visit and communicate with the staff frequently on my moms behalf. The staff is always helpful and friendly. There has never been an issue that can’t be resolved. I appreciate all Derek and staff do to care for my mom.

Ive been taking care of my parents for about 16 years now and they have needed to be in Assisted Living for the past 7+ years. They have been in several facilities here in the area. Some were top notch too. This facility ranks in the top tier. Most importantly though, my Mom LOVES it at The Gables! She has been here since they opened and the staff are great, the building is beautiful, and they work so hard to make my Mom happy, even through this pandemic! Visitation has had to be modified every time the infection numbers go up in the area but I have always been allowed to visit with my Mom (though for a while it was over the phone as we looked at each other through the window). My Mom has food allergies and the kitchen staff work hard to give her a variety of things that she CAN eat. I love having my Mom at The Gables of Caldwell!

We made the difficult decision to place our mother in memory care five months ago. After exploring the options available in Caldwell, we selected Gables Memory Care. The new facility and caring staff have made our decision a good one. Throughout these trying times Dereck and the caring staff have kept us informed on her welfare when we could not visit her. They have tried to accommodate her dietary issues and have dealt with her memory issues with grace and understanding. We are very satisfied with Gables and truly grateful for the caring and kind staff involved with her care.

My dad has lived in multiple assisted care facilities since he had a stroke about 13 years ago. His mind is fully intact, but he needs some assistance physically. He is a very picky man, and its been a challenge to find a home where he has felt safe, well taken care of and well fed. It was a struggle getting him to leave independent care and move into assisted care, but once he got to The Gables, hes had nothing short of a great experience. Times are tough for family members in assisted living facilities due to the Covid outbreak, but The Gables have been extremely cautious while keeping the mental well being of their residents in mind. We couldnt be happier with his new home. My kids love to visit their grandpa and feed the chickens & ducks who live happily on-site. He is happy with the food, the staff and his overall experience.

The Gables of Caldwell have been so wonderful to our Mother and our family. They are excellent on communication, follow-up and the whole staff is very caring. Some assisted living places are just too big to give the kind of care and treatment that The Gables House offers. We are so happy with our decision to go with The Gables.
