I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Hoot for the amazing tattoos he did for me. I told him I wanted a small tattoo on the back of my neck that says You are perfect to me. The only thing I said was its for my daughter. When I got home and looked in the mirror I cried it was over and beyond what I imagined it is beautiful. He added white in there and all. The thing is he didnt realize is there is a story with this tattoo my daughter is 14 and is a cutter and feels no self worth so the song by pink perfect is her song and we listen to it all the time. He did amazing. So Hoot thank you so much. One day when she decides to tell her story this will be part of it until then she can look at this everyday and know she is perfect in my eyes.

My experience with Gibz has always been a great one! I am loyal to them as much as Gibz salon and Day spa are Loyal to me. They are great! I have been part of the Gibz family since I was 16 years old! Just turned 31 ! So, 15 years they have not failed to amaze me ! I do hair, piercings and tattoos all at Gibz ! Thank you for all your hard work! Love you guys!

Well the piercing came out two hours later. It was in my lip, and the owner asked if I was making out with someone, because thatd feel amazing. She was incredibly rude, as if I was lying and just wanted a needle stuck in my lip. Dont go there

Each time Ive gone into Gibz, before each one of my tattoo appointments, John Gibson is always in his shop doing something to make it clean. Ive been coming long enough to know no employee is allowed inside because only he sterilizes and disinfects his own room and his own needles. He takes it all upon himself. Not only that, I see him taking his own garbage can out because he doesnt count on other people to do it for him. Mr. Gibz is the cleanest tattoo place and I believe anyone who says otherwise hasnt come to Gibz long enough to know that sanitation and cleanliness is the most important thing to the Gibz business, including John himself. Keep up the good sanitation work, Mr. Gibz! And I cant forget all the beautiful work all three Yvonne (the owner), Shavon (the manager), and Shauna (jack of all trades) do! My hair and nails look and feel so nice after each visit all while they follow COVID-19 protocol! Each station is exactly 6 feet apart, chairs are wiped down and disinfected after each client. Gibz Salon is where I feel safest to get anything done. Keep up the good work to you ladies as well! Ill be back more often than you think!

Yvonne Gibson is the only stylist I trust with my hair. I have very thick unruly natural curly hair. When I try to go through other stylists, but it’s no where near the quality of color and cut that Yvonne does. Highly recommend.

Got a piercing done, when I entered the lady said that I was scheduled for 5 instead of 4:45 when she told me 4:45 on the phone and I told her that then she hesitated, said oh yea I did tell you that. Then the next people walk in for the next piercing and she says, you guys are way early! He has a whole other piercing infront of you guys!. Bad customer service. My piercing turned out okay, for now.UPDATE TIME!!! MY PIERCING IS NOT OKAY! IT IS CROOKED AS HELL. THEN THE RUDE LADY HAD ATTITUDE TOWARDS ME WHEN CONFRONTED GO TO SPADEBALL INK. Had my belly button pierced at Gibz, after 8 months now It still hasn’t healed. I was concerned so I went to have it looked at and was told the jewelry is extremely cheap and it was pierced wrong. I now have to have it fixed. When I went to have it checked out, they couldn’t even believe how bad it looked and how poorly done the piercing was.

Yvonne, Shavon, Shauna, Hoot! Don’t get much better then that. The pride they take in there work is perfectly the best. I have been going to Hoot for 15 years for all my piercings and Tattoos. Just an FYI. This is what these guys did to my sons girlfriend. This is a couple of hours after the piercing. Their idea of addressing this issue is to deny any and all responsibility and blame her. She has multiple piercings and knows how to take care of them. They resorted to name calling and absolutely refused to refund her money. My son and his girlfriend tried to resolve this in a reasonable manner but apparently Mr. Gibz would prefer to settle this in court. If you are considering a piercing, go somewhere else where they are not afraid to accept responsibility should they botch the piercing.

Zero stars if I could. I went to get a jewelry change for my nose piercing which had a piercing bump so I wanted a smaller stud put in to attempt to relieve the pressure. The lady struggled for a while trying to get the old stud out as well as the new one in dropping it numerous times and popping the bump on my nose which now came back twice as big. Once I got home I realized she put my original stud that I walked in with back in not even the new one!! I went through all that pain and blood for nothing. Very disappointed. I called afterward telling her she didn’t even put the new stud in and she proceeded to tell me she didn’t know what I wanted her to do about it and that I now have two pieces of jewelry...I paid $20 for her to shove the same stud back into my nose that I originally walked in with.

The people that work there genuinely care about their clients. I’ve had multiple piercings done from them and my first tattoo. Will continue to go back to them.

I had a recent hair cut here where I had booked online (on their website). I showed up for my appointment and the owner did not know about the appointment. She said I guess I should check online more often. I waited close to 20 minutes for the owner to be ready to cut my hair. I requested a trim to fit the current style I had--approximately 1-2 inches. The owner of the salon was very rude and stated that is a cut and not a trim. I clarified the length I was looking for and to keep the same style--a slight A line hair cut. The owner talked about how difficult of a cut it was which did not make me feel very comfortable. She then proceeded to talk to the stylist across the room and her customer very loudly--not professional at all! The whole experience was NOT great--I walked in looking better than I had left! She did not offer to wash my hair nor to style it when done so it was wet when I left. Upon getting home, I dried and styled my own hair to find out she did not even do an A line hair cut--just a bob with layers. The layers were done very sloppily by using shears and not cutting them by hand so it hasnt looked very good. I would recommend going elsewhere for not only a better result, but also a more professional environment.

If I could give less than one star I would.

WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE! Shivon and launy do NOT know how to do nails. Me and a friend of mine where in the salon for 4 hours on a fill and a full set. They do not know how to use there product they cant apply gel nail polish. Shauna had to save us both. Thank god for her. My nails HURT and I spent $49 still, AFTER 4 HOURS!

I have gotten 7 out of 8 of my tattoos done by Hoot, I always recommend him when it comes to tattoos and piercings. I have gotten my tongue and nose pierced by him and he does a fantastic job! I love my stylist Bri. She does a fantastic job with color and cuts. Would rate it a 5 if just for her but I have to agree with other reviewers in that the owner is very unprofessional. She yells at her staff and picks up and holds her dog while styling hair. They dont take checks....understandably, but then they charge you a fee for using a credit card.

My sister & I went to go get pedicures and my mom got a manicure. The lady that did my pedicure had to run & go open the bar she bartends at so she didn’t even give me a massage she just put lotion on quick and threw on the toe nail polish that came off that same day. My sisters toe nail polish also came off that day. Then my mom got a manicure (& she didn’t know they didn’t do acrylic nails which is odd) & she left with her nails looking like a 5 year old painted them. this all cost over $130, which doesn’t sound bad but for all the crappy service we are not impressed. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Zero stars if I could. Not only did the lady screw up my belly button piercing (it’s at a 45° angle sideways, never healed right and was EXTREMELY over priced) but the “professionl piercer” was incredibly rude, and acted like she had no idea how to pierce. Horrible place.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Never in my life have a seen a salon so poorly run. The owner did acrylics for me a few months back, they were uneven, thick, and I ended up getting an infection in my finger, and I had to go to the ER to get it drained. The owner would yell and snap at her employees while they were with clients. Telling your employee to hurry up, and finish that hair cut is not something a client should hear while they are getting their hair done. When I go to a salon, I want a relaxing, calm setting. Not an employer going around barking commands from the bottom floor of the store at her employees. I will never return to this business. If you want a relaxing place to go, avoid GIBZ.

I would not recommend this place for lash extensions. I had some that were stuck directly to my eyelid (they are supposed to be glued to your existing lashes.) I paid for a full set but it only looks like I have half as many lashes as I should. They are bunched together in some spots. I had glue on my cheek that I had to try to get off when I got home. The lashes are extremely uncomfortable. Ive had them done elsewhere before and they were not uncomfortable at all. Very, very disappointed. I will not be back.

DO NOT GO HERE!! There have been SO many horror stories! Owner is extremely rude and unprofessional. They cant do hair correctly, piercings Nor tattoos.

This experience I had here was horrible, they screwed up my belly piercing and it got so infected. She pierced it too far up to where it was pulling my skin. The lady acted like she didn’t even know how to pierce and she really freaked me out with how she panicked. I asked for an refund of my money because it wasn’t cheap and she agreed to it and then months later I never got my refund. She blocked my mom so I texted her off my phone asking politely for my money back and she cussed at me and was very disrespectful. I would not recommend doing business with these people as they not well managed or friendly.

I have been several times. Some of the nail techs do terrible work. I got my hair cut and the lady was left handed, did all my layers backwards. They dyed my hair wrong, and the owners daughter literally argued with me about it, saying i needed a lift, which i said i didnt, etc etc. They are way over priced. I had to return to have them fix my hair. The lady then left the dye in too long and then didnt wash it all out! Their customer service sucks, and they dont give you a good experience. I will never return to this place. They have never made it right and dont seem to care. Maybe if the owner actually hired people who knew what they were doing, she wouldnt have so many issues.

After appointments with Yvonne and Shavon, I always feel like a new person! Since moving out of the Chicago area, I appreciate them even more as they now have to fix someone elses attempts to maintain my color and give me an up-to-date cut. Yvonne is an extremely talented colorist and she knows just how to give me a natural look with a bit of a boost. She listens to my concerns and then tells me what shed like to do to make sure were on the same page, but truthfully, shes so good theres no need to ever change what she recommends. Shavon is a mind reader - I just vaguely tell her what I want to change about whatever cut I got from someone else and she gives me a new style that works for my face and my hair - then she gives me lessons on how to create the look myself. The staff is great and they all work together to accommodate my limited availability whenever I get back to Chicago. Ive been to salons from Denver, Helena, to New York and DC - Yvonne and Shavon are my favorites!Yvonne told me they also offer Tattoo and Piercing. So I received my first tattoo by Hoot, I LOVE IT!

I went to get a simple nostril piercing here a few months ago, and not only was it outrageously overpriced, but it was done so poorly that I took it out within the hour. The lady that pierced it didnt even mark where she was going to pierce it, so I could see the placement. I thought she was going to mark it, but it turned out to be the needle, and she pierced it without warning me, or saying anything at all. The piercing was way too close to the edge of my nose, so the hoop was probably protruding a good half inch from my nose. Im not a confrontational person, so I left upset without saying anything. The next day, I went in to talk to her, and ask for a refund, and my dad came with because I was nervous due to hearing some bad things about her attitude towards people that had gotten bad piercings from her. She was apparently out of town, and the lady at the front desk said she doesnt do refunds, but that she would probably offer to re-pierce it for me. I declined that offer, and asked that she call me about it. She eventually called from an unknown number which I didnt answer because I figured that meant she was going to start yelling and cursing like I had seen from other reviews. She did however leave a voicemail telling me to call the salon. I called the salon back, but they said she was gone for the day, and would call back. Almost a week went by, and she hadnt called. When I finally called back, and asked that she call me again, she said she had texted me (which she hadnt), and that she wouldnt give me a refund, but I could get it re-pierced by a guy there. Again, I declined that because I wasnt comfortable with anyone else there piercing it again, and she started saying that I was crazy for turning it down, and that she could give me hair care products instead; I declined that as well. She started getting rude at this point while I was being calm, and repeatedly said I was crazy, and even threatened my dad by saying hes lucky I wasnt there when you guys came in. She was upset that I had questioned the gauge of the nose ring, and continuously told me it was a 16 gauge when it clearly was not because I have multiple other piercings that are 16 gauge. After that, she said it was somehow my fault because my septum ring was in the way, which was just another excuse for her poor piercing work. At this point, she was getting more agitated, and kept yelling shes been piercing for years, and knows what shes doing. Near the end of the conversation, I said that I would just file a complaint with the better business bureau, and she immediately hung up. I ended up going to my personal banker to see if there was any way I could dispute the charge since it was on my debit card. I disputed the charge, and they did an investigation and I finally got my money back. My personal banker even said to file a police report if she called back again, and was rude and threatening. Overall, she is extremely unprofessional and rude, and will continue to mess up peoples piercings as Ive seen in other reviews here. I only went there because I knew they would pierce it, and immediately put in a hoop, and I was too impatient to wait. I ended up going to a tattoo/piercing shop in town, and got it properly done. Its much better to go to someone that actually knows what theyre doing even though you might have to wait a little longer, or make a drive to a different town. I will never go back there again.

Ive gone to Gibz for 6 years now and every experience has been great! I got my first tattoo when I was 18 years old, and Gibz was the ONLY artist in town who had the patience to answer every question a scared first timer could ask. He was friendly, respectful, and very good when it came time to tattoo. He allowed me to pick music of my choice, and talked to me throughout the whole tattoo, keeping me distracted from the pain of the needle. His shop is clean and comfortable, and you feel at ease just walking in there. 6 years later, I am getting my 5th tattoo from him, and cant wait. Ive never had a bad experience with him, and would recommend him to anyone looking for a friendly professional artist to make your tattoo experience the best possible.
