This was the best experience Ive had at a music store. You can tell that Ben not only excels at what he does but is truly passionate about it. I went there for an overall refurbishment on my old clarinet and was surprised when he told me honestly that it didnt need it. I ended up leaving it there for a touch-up job, couple new pads etc., although he did give me the option for the refurbishment. I was surprised again to return to find he went above and beyond and had actually done a more thorough job than quoted without affecting the price much. The work is flawless, and I couldnt be happier with the price. On top of that I walked away with a nice new case, again amazing value for money. Throughout the process he was so kind and was happy to help with any questions or advice. Northtown will be my go-to in future.

This is a great shop, owned by a former music teacher. He was so helpful and friendly. He refurbished my sons clarinet and did an amazing job. Its beautiful! His wife gives piano lessons in the shop, Im definitely going to take advantage!

We were in a bind and urgently needed a bassoon reed. No one in our town had one so we started calling places closer to Buffalo. Not only did Northtown have one, he had at least a dozen options! And he was so kind and quick!

Northtown Music has so much to offer for every level musician. Check this place out! The owner of the store will help you figure it all out if you have any questions. Lessons are available for any instrument and Ben Boyar the owner specializes in wind instrument repairs. Fair pricing, usually lower than any other music shop. Great location, only about a half mile south of 33 expressway on Harlem road.

Great customer service from friendly knowledgeable staff! I got my daughter her instrument for a better price than even Amazon! (And I get everything from Amazon) but for such a big important purchase, I am glad I went here. Ben was super helpful.

Highly recommend! The owner was very knowledgeable, and he went the extra mile and came into his shop early to repair my flute so that I did not have to drive back to his shop next time I was in town (I’m 2 hours away)! He did an excellent job fixing it, was reasonable with the price, and offered helpful advice! I have put this business in my phone’s contacts for any future needs I might have!

I recently called this location as i was inquiring about a clarinet for my daughter for her first year of band, and the man on the phone was rude and didn’t let me get a word in. Then as i was about to ask a question he says okay good bye. Also was talkig with people in the background laughing! A bit unprofessional if u ask me!. Definitely not looking to purchase anything at this location! Rude

Mr Boyar is great!! He was a music teacher at my former high school. So glad that he has opened his own music store for lessons and also equipment.

I recently called the shop to inquire about getting my acoustic guitar repaired. Initially, I was assured that if I brought my guitar in that they’d be able to fix it. I found this strange since I hadn’t yet described what it is exactly I needed done. I went on to explain and was cut off mid sentence with “um yeah we don’t do that kind of work, okay? Okay. Goodbye.” Before I could even ask if they knew of any other local shops that did offer that kind of work, I was hung up on. Needless to say, i was a bit shocked by the rude, dismissive nature of our very brief conversation. Not a great first interaction with this business.

Love Mr. Boyar and and his store. The Thursday jam sessions are lively and fun, he knows exactly what hes doing and can teach/reach anyone who wants to learn.

Heard a lot of nice things but after talking to the owner ... he was just down right rude!

I stopped in a while back to check out a few guitars. When I wanted to try one out, the owner said my fingerprints on the fretboard would lower its value. This was odd to me, as most music stores encourage you to try before you buy...so needless to say i didnt purchase anything that day.There was a large variety of instruments and accessories though, not a bad shop at all!**Edit: To the owner: I was looking at a used Ibanez acoustic when you mentioned the thing about the fingerprints...I can understand if that guitar was already purchased by someone, but there was nothing to indicate that. That was my main issue...in my experience, fingerprints on a fretboard dont really depreciate the value when it comes to buying a used instrument under $300. So I just wasnt clear why that particular model was off limits, even though it was among the rest of the inventory.
