I recently purchased a Skag Liberty Z. It’s a very nice mower and quite a bit better then the one I originally went in to purchase.The only reason this is a 3 star and not better is because of the sale experience I had the first day I went in (not the day I bought the mower)I went in with the intent of finding out information and finance options for a zero turn.The first sales person I spoke to when entering was very knowledgeable and helpful, then a different sale person came over and pretty much took over the encounter. He constantly tried to up-sell me to a commercial mower even though I told him what my budget was.After he found out I wasn’t interested in buying a high dollar mower he sent through my credit and everything with the finance company ( at this time I’ve only seen the original cost of the mower, the only number I saw up to this point.)After a 2+ hour stay I get taken into the finance room to sign the contract. I sit down and this is the first time I’ve seen the cost of the mower with all the fees and the interest rate of the finance loan. I left very frustrated and angry. The sales guy didn’t seem interested in dealing or trying to find the right mower for what I needed, he just wanted to make a fast sale and move on the the guy buying the more expensive item.After a few days I did my research and came in again, this time I dealt with a salesman man named Kevin.Now I came in with the full intention of taking my business elsewhere if I dealt with Matt the original salesman.Kevin was very professional and knowledgeable about all the questions I asked. He even sold me on a more expensive and better mower then I originally wanted. He went above and beyond. He even delivered the mower himself because his misread a paper stating they would deliver for free. He stood by his word and that is one of the most important things to me when I am buying a high dollar item.So if you made it this far in the review, if you plan on dealing with the Vance store I highly recommend that you deal with Kevin he’ll go above and beyond to help get you what you need at the best price he’s able.

Ordered a part for my Ariens mower and was told there were several in stock at warehouse. Was told it would be in within 3 days. When I checked on it at the time it was to arrive “already paid for” I was informed that because an Ariens was a “rebuilt Gravely” I had to understand this and it would take 3-5 days to ship. When I questioned why I was told one thing and now being told another. I was treated like I didn’t have a “name brand” mower and I would just have to understand that and wait for it. Was actually told “I had to understand it”.Wont go there anymore.

Bought a belt there and it wasnt the right part so I returned it.they took 25% of my refund.In their refund policy it says nothing about a fee for refunds. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.That place is a rip off.

New Owners - Poor business practices! We dropped our 2018 Scag off this fall for wintering (at Vance) & recieved a quote on the service at $169.99. We finally received word it was ready. We picked it up from what is now Plethora Powersports and they didnt honor the cost! Charged us $50 more, with no explanation. They just wanted to charge more for the same service.Well be having all our service done at Legacy from now on!

Had several bad experiences with Vance in BG.Started out with going in to purchase a 61 snapperpro. Only customer in the store and couldnt get help due to personal hunting conversations between the two employees. When I approached them and told them what I was looking at they went as far as telling me I was looking at the Cadillac and pointed towards the lesser of the line. We left and purchased it the same day at Southern Indiana Power Equipment.Since then I have attempted to contact them several times to purchase parts and accessories. I just gave up.Before you make a large purchase from this dealer I would strongly suggest checking them out very well.Try contacting them, look at the low reviews, there real.Rude employees and incompetent at running buisness smoothly or promptly.Took them off my list of placed to do buisness with.

I purchased a Scag Liberty Z zero turn mower from these folks just under 2 years ago. The staff member who assisted me with the purchase (Dustin) was very knowledgeable about his products, helped me pick exactly what Ineeded; nothing more, & nothing less. He made me aware of all options and available equipment/accessories, but made no effort to upsell me. He asked questions such as what type of mowing I planned to be doing, the general size of the property, how flat was it,(making sure I didnt need a rollover protection system, keeping me & my equipment safe). He made sure I walked out the door with the right equipment to fit exactly my needs. I just dropped it off for its second seasonal maintenance a couple of days ago. They have always been completely professional and more than helpful to me for any need I have had with my equipment. On the rare instances where there were issues on their side of things, they have always been prompt to inform me, and completely open about their dealings. I am absolutely thrilled with them.I have updated my review. As of today I have learned that The Vance Store has been bought out. To my knowledge, only one original staff member is being retained, and my experience with them today was absolutely unacceptable. I dropped my equipment off with the staff of The Vance Store at the end of November for routine seasonal maintenance. I asked at the time of drop off what my projected cost would be, and was told that it would be roughly $169 and some charge. I learned today that the new company took possession of the business shortly after this. I recieved no communication from them regarding any reason for an increase in projected cost of my service, yet when I arrived to pick up my equipment today I was charged $230 with absolutely no satisfactory explanation for the unannounced increase in price. This has the appearance of very dishonest business practices. The Vance Store is defunct and I for one will have zero dealings with the new company that has taken its place.

Bought a 2020 outlander XT 1000 from Dustin, was the best price around and helped me every step of the way with everything, coming from a car dealer, I must say there knowledge of product and willingness to spend all day showing us different options and what options were best etc was very impressive. I won’t buy a mower, fourwheeler side by side or any equipment that they sell from anyone else. Great to deal with a family owned business #supportsmallbusiness

Called the parts department and told them the part I needed and they took my phone number and told me the price of the part and told me it would be in by the end of the week. Friday comes and I haven’t heard anything so I call back and it’s like they have no clue as to what I ordered or when ,so I contacted the parts manager and he said he would do some checking and he would get back to me and it might be Saturday morning well I writing this on Monday night and have not heard anything from him. So make a long story short the owner tells me he don’t order any part without payment first. That’s fine but you need to ask for payment don’t string me along. I would had payed when I first talked to them but wasn’t asked.

I have only been there a few times looking for parts for an older mower. Sometimes parts are in stock, sometimes they have to order them. Customer service has been OK so far. In my opinion its typical of a place that stays busy and doesnt have to work too hard for business. When your yard needs mowing and your mower needs parts or service you are usually willing to pay and cant wait for online parts to arrive.Updated 06/07/2017: Im lowering this rating from 3 to 2. Seems like it takes them forever to order parts, they arent quick to notify you when parts do arrive (Im sitting with grass growing up and mower down for parts), and they often dont have common parts that I would think they would keep in stock.

They will try to just “tell you what you want to hear” and blame it all on “how busy they are”. Every time I have been to this place I get the same poor service. I would recommend anywhere else other than this place.

Terrible customer service. I had been two previous times with no luck - I understand things happen and/or parts are hard to find sometimes. I went to them a third time (explained my two past experiences upon arrival) and offered to give them one last try. To no surprise, my service at this store was terrible. All I needed was two oil seals and a pull rope replaced. I was told it would be a two week turn around, which I thought was long to begin with, but I accepted the fact that they were busy. They had my tiller for 34 days and I dont think they even looked at it. I never received a courtesy call about the status of it. Parts were never ordered. Nothing was done to it - AT ALL. I even offered to look up and buy parts for them to help speed up the process; this conversation was because I called them of course... When I finally gave in and decided to attempt the work myself I went to the store upset and spoke with the owner - he acted as if it was no big deal. Needless to say, I will NEVER step foot in that store again. Very poor customer relationship and very disappointing (third) experience!

I was in the store this afternoon to look at string trimmers. No one seemed to notice when I came in. One employee was busy with a customer at the counter. I showed myself a couple of trimmers, the employee continued with his customer. I noticed a sign saying you did not service equipment bought at big box stores. I got bored and headed for the front door. As I left, I noticed two people in a front office talking. But they didnt notice when I left.

Got a 24 inch chain, payed with card and didnt releize it till after I had done bit they charges me $52! Ive bought that same exact chain at every place that sells it in town and they run at the most $35. And dont take them a saw to work on cause they will keep it for months!
