I live 150 miles away and he communicated with me consistently throughout to make sure I knew what was happening so I could answer any questions she may have had. This was our first experience with using an auction service for a home. When we contacted Jeff Harned, he was very friendly, and met with us to describe the auction process and to assess the house situation. Through the entire process, Jeff maintained a professional demeanor, and was always available to answer our many questions. He gave us a very accurate idea of what we could realistically expect from the sale of our Dads house given its condition, location, market, and the types of bidders it would attract. Jeff was open and honest throughout the process, and he never promised anything unrealistic. He always made himself available via telephone or face-to-face meetings promptly, and throughout the process, we felt that we were his only customer (in that, he was never in a hurry to get off the phone for anything; he gave us his undivided time and attention). We were extremely pleased with the results of the auction, which surpassed our expectations. In the past two years, we have liquidated four separate business locations through Thomas R Hunt Auctioneers. The first was a custom millwork shop, the other three were hardware and building material stores. Jeff Harned was our primary contact for all four. Each offered the unique challenge of selling real estate, inventory, and specialized equipment. We believe that given the local economic conditions and demand for what we had to sell, Hunt auction team was able to give us maximum results. Jeff explored selling each location as an going business. While there was some interest from a few potential buyers, this path did not materialize, so we sold two properties by auction and two by private treaty, arranged by Jeff. The inventory, and we had a lot of it, along with the equipment and fixtures, were sold in on-line only auctions, one for each location about a month apart. The on-line auction reaches and involves far more buyers than any other approach we could have used. It allows bidders to bid from anywhere, anytime, at their convenience, while the auction is on-line. Given the sheer volume of merchandise we had to sell, it would have taken days to conduct traditional live auctions and you can’t expect buyers to wait around that long for the items they are interested in to be sold. The on-line auction expands the geographic range of potential buyers as well. The Hunt team was efficient and thorough during the load-out days after the auctions.
