I had the pleasure of hiking Grays and Torreys with Gabriel August 15, 2021. Gabriel was very accommodating and we touched base a couple days before to answer questions and finalize plans to meet in a central location which was super helpful! He was timely and waiting for me at our meeting spot at 3:17 am while I was 2 minutes late for our 3:15 meet up🀦He quickly made me feel comfortable and we headed out to hike at 410am after a light breakfast. I set the pace and never felt like I wasnt in control of the hike. This was key for me. As an avid solo hiker I was unsure how I would feel hiking with a guide in an unfamiliar area, but Gabriel was a great hiking partner, guide and photographerβ˜ΊπŸ“· He identified and taught me about the local flora/ fauna we saw along the way including a Pika! SO cute! He answered all my questions and identified all the mountains I asked about, making me feel like I knew where I was looking! Gabriel was a great conversationalist, but also gave me time to hike in silence while taking things in and to just breathe πŸ˜‚ Overall, I had a great hike and it was the perfect introduction to hiking the Colorado high peaks. I would never have thought about hiring a guide before this trip and Im so glad I did. I would recommend it to anyone! It gave me the confidence to get out into unfamiliar territory while feeling safe doing so! Overall, I have zero regrets about booking with them! Missing Colorado already!

Contacted Colorado Wilderness by phone about a multi-day guided adventure for my family (wife and three older teenagers). With a crazy year, we decided to stay in Colorado for our vacation time this year. Colorado Wilderness Rides And Guides designed us a custom six day custom backpacking three day trip and added three extra days for rafting, rock climbing, and mountain biking. Tom and Kailyn were super in communicating with us before and prior to the trip. Our guides Joshua and Alex were amazing. They went above and beyond in creating an amazing, custom and safe experience for our family. The time was important for us in bonding after a hard last year with covid and already requesting us to book another trip with you for next summer. Thank you for exceeding our expectations and taking such incredible care of our family. We will be back for sure!

Planned this trip in June 14 and told a week before we get there that there was no guide available on the day and time that we choose. Of course they took our payment already. When we changed our plans and was going to go a different day we told them that we had to be back by a certain time. They lady on the phone agreed. We got a phone call from the guide the day before and he informed us that we could not be back by that time. So we could not go, waiting on a refund, and staff was not efficient! I will not recommend this company to anyone and strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere!

My dad and I traveled to Colorado recently and wanted to do some climbing. Im a relatively experienced climber, but he has never been. Right before our trip, he decided he wanted to give it a try. I was apprehensive about leading this excursion, especially because i didnt know the area along with my dads lack of experience. CWRAG was the perfect solution. They provided the gear, a knowledgeable guide, and planned everything out. Instead of me stressing over these things, we were able to enjoy the outdoors and my dad climbed his first crag! Our guide, Chip, was fantastic. He taught us about the local ecology, belayed for us, encouraged us, and was all around an awesome dude. I would definitely recommend CWRAG if youre looking for a stress free adventure and/or dont necessarily have the means to pull it off on your own.

Absolutely fantastic. I attended their AIARE Avalanche 1 class, which includes two hours of homework, eight hours of classroom instruction, and two full days of field practice. The evening lectures were very comprehensive and engaging. Josh and Jill covered everything in the syllabus and gently introduced several more advanced topics outside the scope of the class. The field days exceeded my expectations. The thoughtful and expert guides led us through two days of exercises in small groups. We planned our route in the classroom but adjusted it in real-time to accommodate the conditions and terrain. Jill was an excellent guide and provided every attendee individual attention and instruction as we cycled through roles on the team. Ill also add that the office staff were very accommodating of my schedule and worked hard to ensure I could receive this training before the season ended.I will definitely be returning to CWRAG for future classes.

My instructor/guide Jill and the team were very communicative in the time leasing up to my actual training. They asked numerous questions to ensure I was going to have the experience that my girlfriend and I were after based on our specific skill level and future plans. Definitely not a one size fits all approach, which was greatly appreciated. The actual training was enjoyable, informative, and exactly what we had in mind to help us gain skills, increase our confidence, and help us expand our engagement of the outdoors safely.I appreciate the professionalism, the depth of knowledge of the trainer, and the safety protocols followed per the pandemic. With this training completed, we are looking forward to planning our next trips!

I took the AIARE level 1 course through CWRAG and had a wonderful experience. CWRAG instructors Jill, Josh, and Chris are friendly, well-organized, and knowledgeable. They use a lot of interesting analogies and stories throughout the course. I also liked that they scheduled two weeknights and then a full day off before two more days in Estes Park. Having a day to rest made it easier to absorb the information and get ready for the outdoor portion. I stayed over night in Estes Park and especially appreciated Jill taking the time to meet with me in the morning and work through the trip planning process while the rest of the class was reconvening in Boulder. I feel like I learned a lot and had fun in the process, enjoying the outdoors with some great people! I would definitely recommend CWRAG and I hope to take another course through them in the future!

After taking several photos there we traveled a short distance to Bear Lake where we took more photos and hiked up to Emerald Lake at an elevation of 10,100 feet msl. The photo safari was only scheduled to last 4 hours, but it ended up almost 6 hours long. I know that he was getting paid for what he was doing, but I believe Joe went above and beyond what was required. Money well spent.

If youre looking for a fun and personalized experience for AIARE (avalanche safety training) and you can make it to the Boulder, CO area this is, in my opinion, the Outfitter to go with. Joshua Baruch, GM and CEO leads the lecture and field study with his team of expert staff (Cindy and Jill were our outstanding team leaders). The team takes you through the course work and field scenarios to make sure you are more knowledgeable and prepared for traveling in avalanche terrain. They will prepare you for rescue scenarios that you may experience in the field, and how to observe snow layers for instability (digging a pit). This is just a starting point for backcountry snow enthusiasts and CWRAG Avalanche training courses are top notch! Highly recommend!

First time that I worked with this organization - was highly impressed. Every year my military buddies and I take adventures around the world. Due to COVID we werent able to go internationally - so went to Colorado for the mountains and adventure. Took 2 tours with this organization (a) the white water rafting with guide Josh who was very knowledgable and highly skilled. He was very fun to hang with and clicked with our sense of humor immediately. Great background and knowledge from Josh - so much that we are coming back in 2022 for a curated program to fit our needs due to his abilities and personality. (B) we did mountain biking with guide Phil - - another great soul of a person. Very knowledgeable and highly skilled on the bikes. We had never done mountain style before and he was very easy to learn from, very energetic and taught us A LOT in a short amount of time. When I go back for work in Denver - I will surely be looking Phil up to bike around Golden/Boulder. Fun guy, fun time - and great organization to work with. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

These folks are awesome; they saved my trip! I had scheduled transportation to and from a trail head in RMNP with Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides for part of a trip I spent months planning. Well, the day before the pickup, a forecast for an October dumping of snow forced me to change plans. I was already traveling and had limited resources and time to re-plan this part of my trip. After a few telephone calls with Josh, the owner, he had helped me create an alternative itinerary that better fit with the snow storm. John, my driver the next morning, picked me up right from my hotel and helped me to comply with the Parks winter season logistical changes that involved a little extra driving.I could not have done all that last minute planning on my own and probably would have spent the next couple of nights in a motel in town had it not been for Colorado Wilderness Rides and Guides. Instead, I was in the park, surrounded by elk, birds, and breathtaking views of snow covered landscape. Two days and 15 inches of new snow latter, Im picked up by Nick (and a really sweet black lab named Sam) right on time to get me back to Boulder to catch the bus to my next leg. On the way out, Nick was able to answer questions to help me identify much of the wild life I saw. Im so glad I worked with them verses a plain old taxi or shuttle service. There is a huge advantage to working with a transportation company that is also a full-service wilderness guiding company.I will definitely use them again. hopefully next summer.

Without the guide we would have possibly gotten lost on the trail and worried about the unknown, but because we had a guide our focus was on the beautiful views. We took many breaks during which our guide took pictures for us and we had a chance to take it all in. Our only disappointment was that we were expecting a narrated hike with more of an educational experience - learning about the plants, rocks and history. Instead, we led most of the conversation along the hike and when we asked questions, we learned that the guide didn’t know much about the geology and only some history. Overall, we don’t regret it but we would have enjoyed a more energetic and educational guide.

We rented mountainbikes and had a guided ride with a group of about 20 people. Although everything went well and we had a really nice ride out, not all of our bikes were technically faultless (worn-out tires, squeaky brakes, leaking front forks, dry chains, etc.).The guides divided the group into smaller groups according to fitness level and experience. However, they had not planned our routes in advance, so a lot of time was lost finding the right parking area, discussing who should ride where, as well as in the obligatory safety brief (read from a printout) prior to riding off. As a result, our overall riding time was less than 3 hours. In my view, thats less than the day-trip we signed up and paid over a 100 dollars for.We were all well taken care of, but to improve value for money, CWRAG should offer better/newer bikes and plan ahead. The completeness nd detail of the AIARE-1 course was exceptional. All of the instructors were very knowledgeable and down to earth. I came away with the foundation to build on for more backcountry adventure.

CWRAG facilitated our team-building retreat and they did an amazing job and deserve kudos. We were thoroughly impressed with the planning process and Amazing Race event we engaged in at Eldorado Canyon State Park. It was a good combination of activities and reflection, was inclusive, and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend and overheard colleagues contemplating using this vendor for future team-building events.

Ask for the rafting guide that wears a blue sparkly helmet, he was very entertaining. Overall experience with rafting and ziplining was great!

Very clean wet suits includedFun friendly staffEquipment in great conditionOnly problem is the water level is low for this time of year. But they do t control the weatherSo you could do intermediate instead of beginner if you have rafted once or twice

I recently participated in an AIARE Level 1 course and was very impressed! The course instructors are extremely knowledgeable and did a great job of providing a fun and educational experience. If youre interested in getting into the backcountry this winter, I would highly recommend taking a course with CWRAG before venturing into avalanche terrain.
