Great experience! Brought a dress is on Tuesday that needed to be hemmed and altered to be made bigger, it was ready by Saturday!! The price I paid made sense for what I had done! Quick and professional!

One of two alterations in town, and the better of the two. Chins does fast, quality, work. She had two pairs of pants sized and hemmed for me in less than an hour; not a missed stitch and ironed out. I wouldnt trust another place with my cloths. Its too bad you can only give them 5 stars on here.

I came here to have a bridesmaid dress hemmed, and it turned out perfect! Ms. Chen is so sweet and the turnaround time was so quick. I took it in on Wednesday afternoon and came to pick it up on Friday (the skirt had three layers of fabric too, so it was a bit of a big job). All in all, I would absolutely recommend coming here for alterations. Dont listen to the negative reviews - Im convinced some people have had more of an issue with the owners being Asian than with the way their clothes turned out.

Took a simple job (let out seams and add some fabric for a kimono style costume that was too small) and she completely destroyed it and charged me $50. She ended up making this thing for totally awkward, now has some weird arm flaps that I cannot even describe bc they’re just so odd…I am so disappointed. She did not offer to fix it or any money back on the job. :( Now I am without $50 and an outfit for a convention I’m going to this weekend.

Great. She stated it would be the next day to pick up my alterations. I didnt have cash on me at that moment and had to go to a doctors appointment and the ATM. When I got back to pay for my alterations were done. This was a big deal because I live 35-40 minutes away.

Mrs.Chen does all types of work from altering curtains to hemming pants or modifying wedding dresses. Very personable and friendly, great prices and quick service make this the number one alteration expert in Boone.

I got 2 pair of jeans taken in at the waist and now they fit great! Great service and speedy. I dropped them off 9/3 around 3:30pm and picked them up 9/4 around 4:15pm! $30 for both which isn’t bad to make my jeans look like a million bucks! I will be returning!

Chen is great! Ive had a ton of things altered by her (formal dresses, jeans, casual dresses). She not only does a great job but shes very reasonable and has a quick turnaround time too.

Very surprised to see these low ratings here. I brought in a few pairs of workout pants with holes to be sewn/patched up, and they were done a few hours later. The prices seem comparable to where Im originally from, but I guess this is judgment thats relative to what youre accustomed to. I thought the price was fair, especially given the speed of return.

The turn around time was incredible and it was half the price Davids bridal quoted me for my bridesmaids dress

She’s awful, measured me 12 inches over what I am on everything thinking I’m 6’11 when I’m 6’. Put my girlfriends cups in her bridesmaid dress upside down. I don’t think she even hears what you want done to any piece of clothing. Please save yourself and don’t go here

Ms. Chen did AMAZING work hemming and tapering a jumper a brought in even though the fabric and cut was very difficult to work with. I paid slightly more than I was expecting but the turn around was incredibly fast (less than 24 hours!) and I have never had something tailored so perfectly. Ms. Chen is very sweet and great at what she does. Definitely recommend her!!!

Outrageously priced for only a hem and a snap to put on a bridesmaids dress. Also the snap did not stay snapped. In my initial visit, there was not much asking what I preferred. She looked for less than a minute before she made up her mind what was best for the alterations. She just started pinning and then took the dress away.The plus to my second visit was I returned to get the snap fixed and she did it for free as I waited there in the shop.

Great work fast turnaround

Way overpriced for the work they do. I got 2 military uniforms sewn there, ran me about $60. Both uniforms are coming undone now. It’s only been a month. I’m definitely taking my stuff elsewhere.

A simple jeans hem was totally butchered . It’s really bad. Wrong thread color, wrong and uneven stitching and wrong length.

No no no no no! She completely botched a simple hem job on two pairs of (expensive) Brooks Brothers wool suit pants. Had to take them somewhere else to get fixed; she didnt even try to make it right. She basically told me that it would take too long to do it the right way. Do not let this woman touch any item of value.

She is very straightforward, which I like. You walk in, immediately try on your ensemble if theres a fitting room open and she immediately starts pinning and measuring. Her turn-around time is incredibly fast, and the work is good. Would recommend.

I was anxious to find a place to fix up my suit pants before a big business trip next week. I finally heard about Chen Alterations and decided to give them a try. I dropped the pants off yesterday and only a day later I picked up my pants that are absolutely perfect. The lady was very nice and helpful and knew exactly what to do. I am so happy with my first experience at Chen Alterations.

I have gone to Ms Chen a few times since moving to Boone. The first 2 times I asked her to hem slacks and they were fine. The next time I wanted elastic taken in and when I picked it up it was still much too large - not sure what went wrong there. Most recently I had a dress hemmed (she charged $25, not $16). When I got it home it was noticeably longer in back. I took it back to her and she argued first that it was all even, and second that it looked nice that way and was supposed to be longer in back. She didnt want to try again and make a mess. Ill be going elsewhere.

I brought her my wedding gown to be altered. All that needed to be done was bring in the bodice. She never measured me or anything. But she called me to come back and she altered the wrong part of my dress. I asked her to fix it and she said she’d have to charge me to fix it. She was very rude. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Very high price. This place charged me $15 just to get a rushed measurement.

I took in a suit to get fitted for a wedding I’m going to and they said they couldn’t do the shoulders and when they took in the seams on the back and the sides the pattern didn’t even line up. When I get it back there was also a hole in the pants. They charged me $50 for this. I went back in to get a refund since I had to take it to another tailor to get fixed but they refused to give me even a partial refund. I would not recommend this place for anything. Don’t waste your money and risk your clothes getting messed up.

This was a very easy experience compared to other alteration businesses. The woman that helped me was very kind, and obviously skilled suggesting she’d have my dress finished by the next day.

RUINED my sisters wedding dress for $200. Take your money where the employees actually care about the end product.

Mrs Chen was very helpful. Her recommendations for my suit werent pushy and in the end everything was PERFECT and FAST. I highly recommend this location over cleaning world and the other services that pop up on google.

Never again! Im local and a first time customer. I took two simple cotton dresses in to be hemmed (no lining, no pleats). She charged me $50! The prices on her page lists $16 for dresses. When I approached her about the price, she said she would give me a $5 discount. Terrible way to do business!

If you needed a simple hemming job done then this is the place to go. Very quick, solid work, and reasonably priced. However, I took my wedding dress here because I needed my straps changed, and she did a horrible job on them. She didnt even measure me for fit and told me to come back a few days later to make sure it fit right. Of course it didnt, but she told me she would charge more to fix it. Even worse, the attachment points for the straps onto my dress looked horrible. They were oddly bunched, and in the back she used an ugly metal ring left from my old straps as a way to attach them. I could have done a better job myself, and my mom and I actually ended up spending hours and hours fixing her work and making my wedding dress look beautiful. The bustle she put on my dress also broke about half way through my reception.

I brought a dayback in to have repaired. She said she didnt want to sew it, because it looked to difficult. If she cant do something this simple, she shouldnt be in this line of work. Waste of time.

Brought in four dresses all to be hemmed same length picked them up and the stitching was all crooked and wavy. Dresses were all a different length. Very dissatisfied she refused to fix. Would not recommend!
