I can’t say enough great things about Sternquist. We received excellent service and an act of kindness from them today that my husband and I were definitely not expecting. They replaced our tire pressure sensor for free, which saved us about $200. This was a massive blessing, especially due to circumstances affecting us right now that they were not even aware of. This was a huge help to us that we do not take for granted and we could not be more thankful. They also picked up our car for us from our home so we didn’t have to worry about getting it to them. What an amazing business!

They were able to fix my oil leak for half the cost of other places were quoting. They were able to find the problem and get it fixed within a day. Their oil changes are also cheaper than some other places and they use better materials. Will be going here from now on.

Theyll keep your vehicle running and on the road for longer, without overcharging you for anything you dont need.Don, the owner, is always straightforward about service. Hell let you know if something needs done right away, or if it can wait and be monitored for a later date. Hell do his best to ballpark/provide estimates when he can, which is helpful for times when Ive needed a repair and been on a tight budget.Bottom line, whenever Ive needed my vehicle serviced or repaired, Ive always left this shop with peace of mind.

We had a slow leak in one of our tires, so we brought the car here and they said they would get started on it right away. Very professional and friendly, and it was fixed in no time. I had not been here before, but we will certainly be coming back for future services

Took car in to examine brakes and grinding noise/issues. Upfront on estimates for cost of repairs, labor and parts. Continued updates throughout the day with progress and new developments. Overall professional, friendly and upfront individuals along with quality service. Showed me the parts they replaced and explained why (in this case, lots of rust). Would definitely use their services again.

Really impressed with Sternquist garage. Very clean shop, respectful and prompt customer service, and they give you a rundown on anything that you might need checked on your car. They do a really thorough inspection when they change your oil (even if you need a last minute oil change like me!) Excellent excellent experience.

This is the only place I will be taking my cars. Very honest and quick about fixing your car. Took my car there about a month ago and they were super about everything. Found out about another issues and just took it back to get the other issues fixed. I thought my fuel pump was also going out but he found nothing wrong. Thought I had to wait to get a ride to pick it up amd they delivered my car to me. I highly recommend Don.

I have done business with Sternquist Garage since 1973 and have always found them to be straightforward and honest. If something was not right, they made it right. They have actively worked to give the best service and save me money where possible. I have never felt like I was being sold something I didnt need. This is especially true of vehicle safety concerns. Sternquist will go the extra mile also.I had been having trouble with the linkage on my transmission in my 85 Charger. Dave suggested I bring the car in after I got home from work so they could give it a look. I had jury-rigged something to work. Dave and Don, after their work day was over, put together parts to fix the linkage. They did this at no cost to me. I assume this is the same treatment they would give any customer - and is the reason I have stayed with these folks for so many years.No one can fix things perfectly the first time, every time, especially with the complexity of todays autos. Sternquist is no exception in this. BUT, they will go the extra mile to make things right if you give them the chance to do so. I would recommend Sternquist for your auto repair needs.

One of the tires on my car developed a slow leak, so I took it to Sternquist and they jumped right on getting it patched up and road worthy. They even installed a wiper blade for me that I was having trouble installing. Definitely top notch service!

They have done regular tune ups for me for the past 25 years and because of that, I have NEVER had a mechanical breakdown. I am confident the work is done well the first time. Very professional. I appreciated Dons high level of communication and transparency. He was honest and kept me in loop while troubleshooting a difficult electrical issue on my jeep. I feel the rate he charged was for friends and family only. He now has a life long customer. Great work.

Ive had very good experiences with this garage. They have been very fair with me and made sure to check with me prior to doing any work that was beyond what was originally scheduled. This is very helpful and they do very high quality work.

Best experience Ive had with car repair in a while. I came in thinking I had a problem with my wheel balance, but turns put it was just some Ice build up. They had it taken care of in no time and gave me the best service. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable!

We came here on Dec 4th 2019 after looking around Des Moines, Johnston, Grimes, west Des Moines, Perry, and Boone after a week of looking for a used tire for our backup vehicle, we were, finally, referred to sternquist by a friend/coworker of my husband’s.Many places had a used tire but were charging over $100 for it or didn’t sell used tires or, as one place told me, “we have that size of tire, but it’s not for a mini van, it’s for a commercial van so we can’t sell it to you if you are using it for a mini van.” Ummm okay? 🤔Not only did Sternquist have a used tire (we didn’t have the money for a new set and didn’t want to get one new and have 3 used) but they quoted us about $50 cheaper than everywhere else I had called! We paid $48.15 after tax!The individuals working here are all friendly and personable as well as professional and empathetic. We will definitely be going back when we have the money to get a new set of tires for all of our vehicles!

First experience was great, had zero problems. Second experience wasnt as good. Prices are a little high, but they stand behind their work.The owner paid to have my car towed back to their shop and they corrected their work free of charge.Overall, a good experience, gotta give them permission to be human. Good, honest people. Just remember, they are PEOPLE. Not machines.

Sternquist is an amazing Garage and tire service. They always give you the price before they fix a thing. Don has fit us in anytime we have needed work done right away. He even picks up our vehicle from our home if I need. If anything goes wrong with what they fix, they correct the issue right away (though we have never had to have them refix single thing.

I dropped in at Sternquist without an appointment because I thought my car was acting up; Don, Rocky and others took the time to talk to me and then looked at my car before giving me a list of things for my mechanic to look at later and sending me on my way with a bit of relief and no bill. That kind of integrity goes a long way — Id recommend this business to anyone. Thank you!

I agree with the other negative reviews only I will say they are a ripoff and the owner is a liar. Ive talked to 4 friends who used him and he charges nearly 90 an hour, crazy for a small town shop, and he lies about the labor hours. I know for fact what takes ten minutes he charged an hour for. The owner lies and is worse than a used car salesman... he cant be trusted. My friends who used him warned me but they should have just told me he is a con artist and I would have stayed away. He charged me 700 and a legit shop should have reasonably charged 350. He lies on hours.. I even asked the mechanic how long a task took when the owner wasnt listening and the employee Confirmed it took him half the time I was charged for. Also he marks up your parts.. one of my parts I priced at a store for 20.00 and he charged me 45 saying thats his cost. The owner lies lies lies, do not use this shop. I ran into an employee of his in the market and asked if he often lies about parts cost and labor hours and I was told he is well known for doing that. I can handle high prices when transparent, but I cant tolerate lies and con artists... not in our town.

I was in the shop when Brian Wiedens car was towed in. The Sternquist Garage team did a fuel pressure test, and found it was out of gas! Brian did not want to pay for the tow charge or the testing on his vehicle. He was very rude. Was wanting the owner to pay for everything. I believe the Sternquist Garage team did everything correctly

Very negative experience, insulted my husband for putting oriely parts on the truck and said they were all junk and needed replaced. I received a call today asking if someone in.my family posted negative statements about his garage and stated that it was slanderous comments. I told him I did not know what he was talking about and knew nothing of the post. Curiosity got the best of me so I looked at the post and noticed some other comments by others that have had the same experience we did. A very large bill with a vehicle that runs worse than when it was taken there. Stopped by other garages showed them the bill and they were horrified at the amounts charged they recommend getting the truck out of there and not allowing him to do anything else to the vehicle. We had all ready made that decision but still had to pay over $500.00 on a vehicle that was in worse condition than before. I am sure he is very experienced in his business but customer service and respect is severely lacking. Not to mention the work he did was 3xs the amount and does not listen to the customers about the amount that they have to spend on repairs. We will never take a vehicle to him again. Bad experience all the way around!

Always go there for any vehicle repairs and now tires. Had bad experiences with other local shops in the past. Can always get a free estimate before work is done.

My fathers truck was there for over two weeks guy still did not fix it but charged my father 568 bucks to get his truck .. attempted to charge 900dollars .. guy is a complete crook ... if you need an oil change sure this bafoon could do that anything else this guy doesnt have a clue !

There was a review written about a week ago with my name on it, I wanted to make clear I did NOT make that review, and that I believe it is scam or that my account got hacked, I have nothing bad to say about sternquist or their services.

I like this place they communicate with you about your car to let you know what is wrong with it before they just fix it . I like the fact they inform me and the cost
