Locals is a great shop! Affordable, punctual, and courteous. As the daughter of a mechanic, I have pretty high standards. Theyve met and exceeded those standards!

Recommended as good shop. Did repair the same day. Job Seems well done but charged me approximately 4-5 times the cost of an alternator ... 240$ for an alternator? I’ve been looking for the gold plating but haven’t found it yet... Wholesale/ Jobber/shop rates are probably 80$ tops. Don’t think much of that . And the guys told me ( pointing out something else that will need repair) we don’t want you to think we’re trying to shaft you”. So I understand fellas you have to make your money but that’s a shell game . Mechanics are all basically the same I guess. Can’t even find angels at church anymore 😇 . I’ll recommend this place ....but maybe bring your own parts.

The folks at the Local’s Garage got our 1966 Mustang in promptly to diagnose a problem. They explained everything very well and made repairs when they said they would. The cost was fair and reasonable and I would definitely recommend the Local’s Garage to meet your automotive repairs!!

This is the best place in Boone to get work done on your car! They are honest, kind, and do good work. They plugged my tire for free, advised me to buy my part online to save myself some money, and dont take too long either. I always recommend them to friends in Boone! Also a locally owned, family business so you can feel good about giving them your money! Love this place!

Been going to locals for a few years now after some bad experiences at other shops in boone. They have always fixed my cars in a timely manner and dont over charge like other shops in town. Definitely would recommend.

Simply the best work I have had done on my vehicle on every visit over the years, and I dont know how it took me so long to remember to write a review. Fair, honest, quality work. I regularly recommend them to anyone who asks, and would honestly drive back to Boone to get the work done even if I moved. You cant put a price on good work for your vehicle, but here it will be a fair one.

Terry is a great, honest guy who stands fully behind his work. He will make sure you are 100% satisfied with everything. I have used a few different mechanics in town and stopped looking for a good one once I found Wellborn Shell. If you are in Boone or the surrounding areas, you need to bring your car to Wellborn Shell. I have also referred others to them as well and all have expressed their satisfaction as well.

Ive never had such an incredible experience at a garage as I did here. Terry was super nice and made my entire first experience there what it was. I went in being told from a different location I had a pretty bad problem. Terry told me that wasnt the case and fixed what was actually wrong without using the very expensive parts I had already purchased for the problem. I can definitely see myself going back to them in the future. They are honest people who arent looking to just mess with something and overcharge like most locations will. Will definitely recommend this place!

I loved the place. They took care of my car efficiently, giving me information on any other service needed.

I took my car to be inspected, but ended up having him change my oil and replace a very hard-to-reach bulb as well. The shop is under new ownership, and they are doing a great job. Dont let the name fool you; they dont sell fuel, but do perform good service on cars there.

One scary thing is to send your college kid to a garage to get something checked out on the car that is making a funny sound. I am sure there are plenty of honest garages but finding one away from home seems daunting. I am happy to say that Wellborn Shell Service Station checks all the boxes. The funny squeaking nose was not fixed with new brakes, replacing the cv joint...just a squeaky joint from salt and snow. Nothing a little oil wont resolve. Fixed with no charge and one relieved dad.Thank you Terry.

While driving through Boone late Sunday night on the way home from vacation, my trusty truck sputtered and died. I failed to diagnose the problem in the dark, so we got a room for the night. The next morning, our tow truck driver suggested taking it to Locals Garage. Ive always done my own vehicle maintenance, and am leery of anyone else touching my babies. Terry and his guys found the stripped timing belt in minutes, and promised to get it fixed the same day. Despite a late parts delivery, they stayed after regular hours to make sure we got home that night. As a lifelong car guy, I can whole-heartedly recommend Locals!

Went there to get an oil change. Walked away with that plus two other big things that needed to be taken care of. The two people working that day were extraordinarily nice and professional. The mechanic not only told me what was wrong but brought me back and showed me the issues in the undercarriage. I had a bad axel, bearing and ball joint on one of my tires that every other mechanic I went to did not even mention or tell me to watch for. I will be going here for my automotive needs from now on. I recommend these people for locals and visitors in need of repairs.

They are the best! They fix mistakes done by other repair facilities. I made the mistake of using Tire Kingdom in Mooresville for an oil change. They left me with an oil leak. After 3 attempts they told me to go away. Wellborn Shell fixed my leak. They are reliable and conscientious. I always use them when I am in Boone! You should, too!

She is the rudest most unhelpful lady I have ever spoken to. She needs to learn customer service. Most people dont like to be spoken to like they are dirt, especially from a business manager. If the owner knew how she spoke to people, she would be fired on the spot. What a rude vicious person. A terrible person to work with the public.

Excellent customer service and great work at reasonable prices.

Ive used this place for years. Charlie, the owner, is awesome. His sister who often runs the office is a hoot. They specialize in brakes, suspension, tires, and other ancillary systems. They are not set up to work on complicated fuel system problems, timing belts, transmissions, clutches, etc. Since they only have one bay they want jobs where they can get the car in and out in an hour or less. Youll notice tons of locals including the Watauga County Sherriffs Dept. use them to keep vehicles running long beyond it looks like they would.Be sure to check out the custom-rigged used motor oil burning furnace in the winter.They charge less than anyone else in Boone. I usually give them more than they ask for.
