The kids, ages 9-14, had a blast! They climbed rope ladders and webs, swung on swings, and created games inspired by the fun surroundings. Interestingly, they didnt go on any of the slides. Oh well. They still asked to come again when we left. There are several areas for kids to play in: one section of netted tubes and climbing platforms with slides, a large playground with multiple long and twisty slides, a smaller playground for young kids, a little playground in the sand for babies and toddlers, a large spider web rope tower, a set of tire swings, an enclosed maze of tunnels and nets, twirly chairs, and even a spongy foam hill to jump from. (Most of the flooring in the playground is spongy foam, but sections of it are wood chip.) There are lots of options for seating, from benches to tables, covered and uncovered. Oh, and there is a little section of misters to cool the kids off on hot days. For being misters, they really get the kids wet, so bring a towel or have them come in their swimsuits. The whole playground is fenced in, but there are a lot of areas to play in, so you may be on your feet a lot to keep track of whos where. Enjoy!
We love this place. known as chutes and latters from my childhood my child is just as enthralled by this place as i once was. much more updated then in the 90s. so great big umbrellas for the parents to wait under lots of picnic tables short walk to the lake area and beach house lots of climbing swinging and running fun!
My family and I have been living in Minnesota for almost 3 years now and so far, this is the best park weve ever been to. There is so much to do, my husband and myself enjoyed it too! My son loves parks and he said it is his favorite park now. Establishments are also nearby for when you and your kids get hungry (and thirsty 😁) from all the fun.
Great and varied play equipment. Slides and rope ladders and wall-climbing; all ages will find something to like, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for a calm place to bring younger kiddos. There are big umbrellas and plentiful seating, which is welcome during hot summer days and longer visits. Also a fantastic relief from the heat are spraying arches that cool you off nicely starting at the later morning hours (parents: have your kids come in swimsuits, or bring towels).Though this play area is large, it’s fenced in, which is a unique safety feature I really appreciated.Fresh water and bathrooms are nearby.
Nice disc golf course but youll want the UDisk app to navigate otherwise its kind of hard to find the t-pads. They have a short course mixed in that weaves through the long course. This is also on the ski hill and is windy so it plays way longer than advertised. Baskets can be on super steep hills so be forewarned. Can also be busy with pedestrians walking and hiking through the course.
Nice large park within minutes of Mpls/StP. Plenty of different trails to keep you from constantly encountering others.
This is such a fun park when it is kept clean. Unfortunately someone had not changed their babys diaper in time and there was feces inside a tunnel. The bathrooms were clean and the ice cream was delicious. They did not have their cameras up nor a security guard like they had last year. With such an enormous playground those really comforted me to bring my kids without my husband. We enjoyed the giant playground, the outdoor workout are and walked down the dock to take in the lake view. We cant wait to enjoy the paddle boats when it warms up.
I brought my two cousins here and they absolutely loved it. They loved the high slides and the mist coming come two bars. The nets to climb were everywhere. They truly felt like Monkeys lol. The park was a bit crowded and there were bees everywhere. Normally there arent so many bees Im guessing it was due to a birthday party that was hosted there. Idk but my cousins definitely want to come back again!
The park is Amazing!! They have some great slides and rope activities for all ages. The concession stand has hotdogs and typical treats, but bring a card, because they dont accept cash. On the other side of the park is an Outdoor Exercise Park for Adults or Teenagers. They also have a lake to fish and paddle around in. We had a Great Time!!
Something for every kid. Only missing decent swings. Just a little of the disgusting wood chips. Heavy metal is padded to prevent head injuries(except the center ladders in the tallest slides). Wore us out in a fairly short time. None of the slides were slippery. It was a chore to slide down.
GLORIOUS and HUGE!! A fun adventure for kids, parents please pack sunscreen and a lunch, you are going to be here a while. Also, probably better when your kids are a bit more independent so they arent as intimidated so you dont have to climb in there after them when they freeze.
Peaceful lakes with lots of benches and well maintained trails. Parking at the visitor center to access most trails. Nice playground, snack bar, and toilets.
This park is most definitely a 5 star! You can rent a canoe, kayak, paddle boat for $15-$20 for 2 hours! People that work there is beyond friendly. If I can, Id rate this a 100 star! Highly recommend place!
Its a huge place with plenty to do. It still feels a bit like the wilderness but the trails are paved for biking, walking, etc. Chutes and Ladders is a great place to go for kids. Kayaking and canoeing on a small lake is also fun if you have online reservations.
So much fun so much to do havent even discovered half of it
As anything done by three rivers park, this is a gorgeous place to spend an afternoon out in nature when you feel like youre in the city. Always feel safe and always nicely maintained.
This place is always great. Best park in Minnesota.A lot of options for things to do. Theres a huge playground for kids. Picnic area and boat rentals for families and couples. Hiking trails and disc golf for all others.
Been going here for several years now and it has become my go to for outdoor activities all year round. There are two lakes one has a beach and the other has paddle boat and other rentals and a freaking island!! My girl and I have dubbed it EAGLE ISLAND, because of the eagles we observed circling it and nesting on it last year, and the eagles eggs we found in the water off the shore of the island this year. ( I believe they fell out of a tree.) Any way, my point is, this area is amazing and has unlimited amounts of fun stuff to do. Your missing out if you dont check Hyland lake area out!
Always a great time at Chutes and Ladders! Happy to see it open. Love that there are several things to climb and different areas for big and little kids, plus adults can tag along, too. I also really appreciate that there are limited exits.
Very nice, open area with fun things to do. Outdoor workout equipment. Great playground.
Disc golf course is very nice. Very steep hills. Lots of hikers to watch out for. Expect to also hike yourself when playing disc golf
First time back here since I was a kid. Used to be called chutes and ladders park. Gone are the old metal slides. Some called them unsafe. I called them fun. Now it is a larger version of the ubiquitous plastic playground you see all over. They say it is safer. I call it boring.
Its always a fun time; I bring my own chair and we pack some snacks and always stay a few hours. Lots for the kids to do, bathrooms , water fountains, and a snack area available. Its nice to walk the trails or around the lake too!
Tons of climbing and slides. Great shaded picnic tables for parents to sit and watch or eat lunch. My 2.5 year old was a bit too small for some of the park. Nice, large restrooms right next to the playground. Perfect for 3 year olds and up. I was a little disappointed there werent traditional swings, just one tire swing.
The trails are beautiful and well marked. When you bet to just the walking trails, it is very peaceful. The enormous and well-designed playground is a joyous chaos of happy children.
Great place for kids parties and just to get the kids out of the house and around other kids. A lot of room and activities for a wide age range
Very good for picnics and get together. The park is very beautiful. Children going to love it. Just beside the lake. Fishing, boat riding can be done. Good place for family and friends.
This is the best spot for family get together. Lots of stuff to do for the whole family. I highly recommend it.
Less crowded after 3:00pm. Great for 4-12yr olds. Plenty of space. to play even when crowded.
Great family park. The Nature Center had a lot to do for both children and adults. There were leaning activities, birds of prey to watch, an animal viewing area and reading stations. As well as, outside firepit and picnic areas. The hiking was lovely. Trails were nicely groomed and well marked. YouI have the option of both paved and unpaved trails for hiking. Biking is limited to the paved trail.
Ate on the Ski Area patio and then climbed up the hill with my family. The disc golf course during the summer looks very intriguing.
If you have elementary aged children, you will be worshipped by them for taking them here. The playground is the nicest in Minnesota and is a hit with my 7 and 11 year old.
Service was good, food greatNext time I am in MN wouldnt mind going there.Pear salad looked really good.
Its a beautiful playground with lots of space and the kids enjoy it a lot. Very clean

The best fun ever! Great park to take the kids
The kids always love going to play here! There is so much to do! Boat rentals and more!

This park has always been a blast. The kids always have the best time. Everything is always clean and people here are always very nice. Ill keep bringing my kids here for many years to come.
The playground is really huge for kids to play, although it looks very safe to play always keep an eye out on your kids.
Love the diversity of this park! Could always add a few more things that are different then slides. Teeter totters etc
Camped at the Sumac Knoll site. Great, lots of shade, water filler/fountain. Easy car camping for little girl scouts!
Love this park it has a really big play ground and you can rent paddle boats and other water crafts lots of picnic tables and areas and fishing.
Wonderful park, great climbing and sliding on the various play areas, but always very busy with a lot of unsurpervised kids running around.
Wonderful park. So many things to explore. Lots of great paths, awesome playground. Nature center is great.Sledding hill - not much of a hill! My only negative comment on this park is they list it has a sledding hill. It does have a tiny hill, that is clear for sledding, but its only worth it if your kid is under the age of 6.
Great place to host family gatherings or individual exercise.Walking trails wind through the trees and between lakes and ponds as well as paved trails for biking in good condition. The is a beautiful nature center with interesting architecture, containing restrooms, meeting and classroom facilities, a tiny gift and snack shop and a play area for young families. Also they rent sporting equipment in season.
Unbelievable venue. If I could rate 6 stars, I would. My wife and I had our wedding reception here and it couldnt have been more spectacular. This place is the perfect size for around 250 guests. The inside of the chalet is very spacious and open, the view of the grassy hill in the spring is phenomenal, the staff and service is out of this world, and pricing is more than reasonable. HIGHLY recommended. They also have one of my favorite disc golf courses here!
Great place to be! They have so many trails, mostly beginner level ones. An excellent place to spend the weekend atTheir bird observatory is also something worth giving a shot
Very cool playground
One of my favorite parks. Has activities to do year round (my favorite being xc skiing, paddleboarding, and simply hiking).Facilities are clean and well kept.
We visited the Richardson Nature Center part of the Hyland Park Reserve. We walked several trails covering about 3 miles. The trails wander through forests and a lovely prairie section. The beautiful center is closed due to COVID 19 but the restrooms were open. A few of their many nature programs are still being scheduled. The winter snow and frozen lake added to the beauty. This a delightful park and can be enjoyed all year round.
I love this place, plenty of things you can do here, like grilling/picnic, playgrounds for the childrens and a trail you can go hiking also fishing
Great play area with lots of direct types of play equipment for all ages
Nice park very peaceful. Great space and picnic areas.
Huge public park for kids that also had misters they could run through. Would recommend for kids at least 3 years old, Maybe 4 years old depending on your comfort level.
Really beautiful park first time there today even with the rain it was a fun time.
Very nice place for outdoor activities year around! My children are thrilled by huge playground
We live a short distance from this Park, and we know every trail here. Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring we are there. Walking or biking, and sometimes Skiing and snowshoeing, theres always time. We have seen many different animals, birds, and fish in Hyland lake. Its a gem to this Community, and we hope it continues.R&K
Nice, extensive walking trails, paved and dirt. Benches for resting. Decent scenery.
The kids had a blast! Its nice that theres only one exit. Was surprised at how many people were there!!!
Really amazing playground and its free I didnt get any pictures too busy chasing a three year old they have a lot of different sizes of equipment for different ages sure well be back there soon try to get some pictures
