Nails were beautiful. Im glad I ignored the Groupon COVID shot lady. She got a discount voucher why is she on here? Information is accepted when you do care about yourself to research things before doing them. The lady was obviously a follower she should be mad at herself if she regrets the decision made without research. Know better Do better....Nail Lady very welcoming professional and informative. My gel manicure perfect and my toes feel like a new set of toes. I dropped my mask and they gave me a new mask. They even sprayed down the chairs between use and gave me the date for free school supplies. Ill be back with friends because I didnt have to wait to be serviced and they made me feel appreciated. And Im bringing my kids next.

Nice owner but I dont like the gel work/process. Im on day 2 of my nails being done and they already chipped and peel off. That was a waste of my money, gas and time. I dont like that I now need to pay more $ to get this removed and then get them redone.

I found this business on groupon and purchased the gel manicure and regular pedicure. The owner was very friendly at first. She was very through with cleaning and taking covid precautions such as temperature and hand washing. It was not a normal pedicure station, however I will still overall impressed with the pedicure. You do get to keep the nail file, pumice stone, and scrubber that is used on you. All was well until the manicure. The owner became very unprofessional discussing the covid-19 vaccine. After she asked me if I was vaccinated, she went onto tell me how bad the vaccine is. I did not appreciate being shown a video on the astrazeneca vaccine. It seemed very unprofessional to me. It made me extremely uncomfortable that I was basically being shamed for my decision to be vaccinated. Then once the gel manicure was done I noticed a lot of nail polish around my cuticles. At that point I wanted to get out as fast as possible so I didn’t bother to say anything. I did not plan to leave a negative review as I know it is a small business. However, the gel manicure began to chip the next day! I have never had this problem with gel manicures. Not even a week later and I need to get my nails redone. Overall, I give 3 stars because the pedicure was good, but I won’t be back.

This was my first time visiting and I was very impressed. Temperature was taken at the door. I didnt have to wait my appointment was at 3:00pm and she started on time. I loved how she took the time to explain what was happening with my hair and what she was going to do. She also made additional suggestion about what I should do; however she did not pressure me into anything I didnt want. I received the Marula Oils Press and it left my hair, full of body and manageable. She used minimal heat on my hair; which I loved. The shop was very clean and beverages were offered. Passion was very professional and super nice!!!

Original Posting Date: JUNE 2020Purchased a Groupon and called for an appointment. The woman I spoke with sounded professional and was helpful but when I got there two minutes after 11am (because this place only has street parking on a pot hole ridden street) the store was closed. I called said I was here, and she told me she’d be there in 10 minutes. Went back to my car and I waited until 11:45 and did not receive a call back. I was surprised because if I call you and tell you I’m here wouldn’t you call me back once you arrive? Am I supposed to be standing outside my car in front of your store waiting for you to get there, especially in such a bad area. Huge waste of time and obviously super unprofessional thankfully I was able to return my Groupon.Update on 1/29/216 months later, she has yet to answer to my review. Even though I see she replies to everyone bad experience or not.Reply to Owner 8/31/2021No need to reply now it’s been almost a year. If you really cared about customer service you would’ve called back and stated you were sorry for the inconvenience. You know you left me waiting for you 45+ minutes what was I going to do? Call you so you could tell me a story? You replying almost a year later says it’s all lol and the fact that the store is closed during posted business hours says a lot too. Good thing I didn’t try it out, your reviews have pictures of chipped gel nails and other reviews have stated that you are “unprofessional”. I gave it a try and it didn’t work out, best of luck to you and your business.

Passion herself, the owner of this business, is the consummate professional. More importantly, she builds relationships with her clients and I can vouch for the fact that she will help customers who find themselves needing emergency services because of an upcoming job interview or other important appointment. She has her own line of products which work beautifully, she understands the chemistry of varied hair types and her product line (available in a variety of locations) reflects that sophisticated knowledge. In terms of custom styles, she will go out of her way to find what her client needs and make that style come to life, beyond ones expectations. I believe she is currently seeking a new space for her shop, but her phone number and her service remain above all expectations!

I love how my hair has grown back. I can manage my hair, now. I am excited about my hair growing longer. Now, I dont trust no one with my hair. I dont know how other people get their hair done, but if you did not get the result that you want, that is because you are still put other things in your hair. Your hair needs time to adapt to good products after you have been putting horrible things in your hair. If you are going to Passion while putting other stuff in your hair, of course your hair is not going to get better. That is like going on a diet, yet eating junk food.

Though I would usually give a lower amount of stars for damage to my hair, Passion did have a nice personality and I admire the fact that she has created her own products. That said, I had several hair treatments with her over a few days - to no fault of her own, I tried a style, didn’t like it, etc. and now I have irreparable heat damage in the back of my hair.I stumbled upon Passion now working at Stush Beauty Bar on Central Ave in East Orange. I had just removed my braids and needed a wash and condition badly. Initially when she looked shocked to be asked to do my hair by the owner of the shop, I was a little concerned, but I figured what’s the harm? I found out later that she was shocked because her primary role at this salon is to do nails... Still she seemed knowledgeable about haircare, mentioning several times that she was a trainer and had pioneered a line of products so I felt okay. I got my wash and condition and wanted an interim style until I was ready for my next style, so I tried a silk press for the first time. A silk press is a press on natural hair FYI. I’m honestly never really concerned about my hair because it is so thick and has been through years of braids, a stint with weaves, shape-ups, color, you name it. It has always bounced back.Passion proceeded to press my hair and in hindsight I remember feeling like the iron was held too long in the back of my hair. I heard a slight frying sound almost. But again didn’t think much. In the next week I would go back and get a wig sewn to my head, a fun style for my birthday. I hated it. Not Passion’s fault here, but me. I do want to add that her weaving skills seemed good. Her braids were tight and flat. Though the wig was expensive, and I had paid her for several services and bought products, I don’t like what I don’t like. I decided to take it out and go back to braids.I successfully removed the hair, unbraided the cornrows, and washed my hair. I was surprised to find the majority of my hair return to its thick natural state and then back half of my hair be bone straight. Almost as if it were permed. I washed it again.... And again. I conditioned it. I used apple cider vinegar. I used a leave in conditioner. I used oils. I used her gel product that I purchased. The back looked crazy. To the point where I had a mullet compared to my natural hair at the top. I decided to return to Passion. I told her about my issue and was met with both her and the owner’s denial that my hair might be damaged. That I ‘need to stay off of YouTube,’ as the stylists there don’t know what they are talking about and that it will take time because the hair in the back is usually straighter than other parts of the head. I don’t know if that makes sense, because no part of my hair has ever been naturally straight, but okay. Well I went on YouTube, Google, called several salons and stopped in a few before I went back (I wanted to be diligent before I accused her of damaging my hair), and the consensus was - the rest of your hair reverted immediately, you tried all of those things in the back, and it’s still straight? = Damaged. I was told that I would need to cut the entire back off, which is super annoying because I’ve been growing my hair out for a year. She did say that she could get the texture back with a special product, but she forgot it that day... I’m sure if she really felt it would work she could have used another product that was not her brand. Honestly I would have offered to shampoo again if my client was standing there looking like I was. I felt rushed out of the salon and that she had no concern for the job that was done. I did get braids and waited to cut the damaged part off because I feared my hair would be too short in the back, but as a few braids have come out in the area, I see my hair is still straight. It has now been two weeks and I now know I’ll have to cut my hair in the back after removing my braids. Very sad and annoyed by this experience. While I wish her luck and am proud of any woman in business, I won’t be returning here.

The salon was clean and the Lady was polite. My daughters hair came out so cute. Im flattered that my daughters pics were posted. I got crochet done to my hair and my sister told me her sew in last week was done with a net which told me the Lady did more than regular salons.I was actually there when Chynna came to the salon and that is so sad she wrote negative because Lord knows she wore a hat and I still saw she had no edges which means she requires an magician not to be in any salon. Maybe she can be the 1st Lady at HAIR CLUB FOR EDGES. Instead of an Online Bully Chynna your daughter was busy as hell and I spoke of it but you werent paying attention to the other customers like you paid no attention to your edges. SMDH . I traveled from Brooklyn and will do it again every 2 weeks Im supporting this salon because she went the extra mile of giving me free school supplies and businesses need to show they appreciate when you spend your money in there locations. I plan to send more people to this salon and hopefully it wont leave any room for negative people to occupy.Did Ms.Chynnah have the nerve to Respond to my comment when I saw her man with more hair than she has walking down Main Street. Tell him to give u bundles. And you cant speak about your experience at all bcs you had the nerve to attack a black business and thats why you got my response. This always happens in the hood. Take your bald edges to Montclair. And Im glad she moved into a Bigger location bcs the Hallway did stink due to the smell of the bathroom she had to share. And my man is far from gay. Your hair is gay thats why it dont like ur no Life Azz. My hair is my own grown from the roots. Take ur bald azz to the gym and tell your patches to lift weights too.

I had a weave installed here on 9/4/2017. It was the worst weave I have ever had in my entire life. (I say was because I had to take the next day off of work to have it taken out and reinstalled at a different salon. Yes $120 wasted). I arrived at Passions place of business at 4pm with my 8 year old daughter. Passion told me I should have my daughter tested because she seemed to have ADHD. Im like excuse me, we arrived here at 4pm its 12am and you still have not finished my hair so of course shes restless, she missed snack and dinner. Passion installed the weave, then took the entire weave out to install it again. The weave was just as awful the second time as it was the first. I had three bundles of hair 22, 20, and 18 of which passion only used the entire 22 and a half pack of the 20. I told Passion I wanted my weave to be full, but she didnt know how to double the wefts Im guessing. So not only was my weave extremely thin she ruined my 4x4 closure as it had a slight tear in the front. Im not sure if Passions struggle with doing weaves is because she has several fingers on her right hand amputated or she just lacks the skill needed to do hair professionally, but she should find something else to do. If Passion could do hair as good as she runs her mouth then she would be a better stylist. Save your money and head up the block to another salon because your gonna regret going here. And yes Passions last name is Ellerbee so the reviews you see below are from family. So dont believe the hype this chicks hair skills suck... She did give notebooks, pens and pencils to the kids, so no shes not an awful person, her hair skills are just not on point.9/14/17Thin edges is damage that is pretty universal in the black community as we put our hair in the hands of inexperienced beauticians. That is no excuse for a weave as awful as you did Passion. My review wasnt to disregard your struggle or imperfections as no one is perfect. However, this is typical when trying to support black businesses, I have to be ignorant because I stated my experience in which I paid for. And then had to pay again for it to be corrected. Thank you Gertrude at Charmaine has hands 4 you salon in Newark NJ for redoing my weave and using all bundles of hair. You having all you have is awesome, those non for profit gigs you have going on are surely a blessing. I enjoyed hearing about how you keep the things people donate the story about you enjoying boxes of the potato chips and what ever else you decide to keep was quite amusing. Again, this was solely my experience at your salon. I was the one who sat there from 4pm till 12am to have a weave installed which is unheard of. So heres a lesson in business/professionalism 101, less attack on the customer and more refresher classes and courses so that your customers leave your salon with a professional look/experience.9/14Alexandria Mohammed- You were the older drunk looking unattractive lady with the daughter who was getting her hair braided. You called when your husband the once upon a time runner got her home to complain that the buns attached to the braids were not done the way you requested. And what kind of fitted hat can you see edges through 🤔. I get it thats your home girl, so of course its only right for you to cyber thug. Yeah, and Im the bully, righhttt. But since were being frank your married to a gay man lady! So mind your business so you can get your life right. Again, this was my experience! You enjoyed standing there with Passion and your gay husband gossiping about how the Haitian lady who works on the same floor (who can actually do hair mind you) is prostituting in the bathroom amoung other unprofessional topics. With your 2 year old and my 8 year old right there. So yes clearly were different people and in real life just like with you standing in the same room as I you see you dont matter. And love your husbands hair has a sun roof like George Jefferson and a few Indian strands hanging around scraggaly. Mind your business lady!
