Highly recommend this place! The staff was extremely helpful and pretty unbiased with their opinions. They carry the best merchandise too. I was highly satisfied with the conversations and advice that I was provided with. They also showed me how to wax my board and gave me a free tool. You cant beat the $150+ discount due to having a student ID either :)

Great local place for outdoor gear. Get camping, hiking, climbing, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding gear. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. There is a decent selection crammed into this building.

I had difficulty with pair of hiking boots purchased at Back Country Blacksburg. I took the boots to the store ,explaining the problem. Store called the company (Merrill) about what they would do. Store called me within 3 days asking me to return to the store. I did so today at which time manager called Merrill. Store manager negotiated full store credit for the $150 boots. He had what I needed in stock. I am now wearing a brand new pair of Merrills.Very appreciative of both company and especially Back Country. Could not have asked for better customer service from these very personable and product-knowledgable folks.
