Will not use, or recommend Hertz again. Grateful they were available during an emergency. Only rental in area that had vehicles. My complaint is being charged extension fee when I actually returned the car 2 days early. My question concerning why my contract was extended when it was for 7 days and I was returning the car in 5 days, was answered with... its the computer. No offered explanation or inquiries... just its the computer. Bad business as far as Im concerned.

I had booked my reservation a week in advance for a plan trip. Arrived the morning at my scheduled appointment on time. I found out that I did not have the SUV that I wanted. The manager said to come back at 11:00. Once I got back there I still didn’t have a vehicle. They did not offer any alternatives nor did any one call to tell us before hand that we would not have a vehicle. I will never go back to this place.

1 star is too many stars. I booked a reservation online from this location and the morning of my pickup (scheduled for 8:30AM), I got a call telling me, “Sorry, we’re sold out.” When I asked for help in finding a car from ANY other nearby Hertz, the employee told me, “Sorry, I need to get ready for my morning and I have to call some other people to tell them they don’t have cars either.” Also, whether true or not, the employee told me the reservation system would let you book 100 cars if you wanted to regardless of availability. Avoid Hertz at all costs and use Budget or Enterprise if at all possible.

One of the worst retail experiences that Ive had in many many years. The lady at the desk said only ONE person was allowed in the store at a time and that they had to stand on a mat immediately by the door if they wanted help. She stated emphatically that this was company policy. This was inspite of the fact that the floor was clearly marked with 6 foot spacing for social distancing in Hertz logos.We informed the person working that we were a married couple and would both be on the rental to which we were told it didnt matter, only one person in the store at a time per policy, or no help. Im not sure how the logistics of paperwork would have played out with people having to go in and out to sign and pay?I was skeptical of this since there is no state or local ordinance in effect regarding occupancy in our area. I called the Hertz 800 number and explained what was happening. I was told on the phone there was no corporate policy limiting ONE person in at a time. When I went back in and asked about this, the person working the desk started to hedge their original statement and started talking about the small size of their store, etc. At this point I asked to speak with a manager and was told none was available.We didnt stay around long enough to proceed further. My wife and I left and went to Enterprise, where we were in and out in about 15 minutes, in a space roughly the same size with people social distancing properly and more than ONE person in the store at a time.I am in the process of trying to clarify with Hertz if ONE person in the store at a time in indeed a legitimate corporate policy and if so why was that not properly communicated to potential customers before they arrived. For the elderly or those with a disability such a policy would be good to know prior to arrival. I suspect this is not an actual corporate policy but something done by this employee who decided that the space was their personal feifdom.I can say one last thing, I will walk over broken glass if I need to before I try to rent from Hertz again. If an employee like the one we encountered today is allowed to exist in their corporate environment, then they are an organization that will not receive my business.

Im not sure where to begin with this one. The website allowed us to setup for a rental delivery, but when we called asking when they would be arriving we were told, We dont do that.The personnel we interacted with had the charm and charisma of a log, and the helpfulness of a lead weight.Then, after returning the vehicle, we were charged almost double the daily rate we were given on the contract. After calling and spending an hour plus on the phone, trying to sort out the billing snafu, I was told, I cant give you a refund because it was an automated adjustment.I asked to talk to a supervisor, as anything done automatically should be able to be undone manually. A supervisor was to call me in 24 to 48 hours. Its been a couple weeks, and still no call.TL;DR: It would have been less of a hassle to hitchhike.

I am closer to the Montgomery Highway Hertzs location. However, when making a reservation online, the 280E and downtown locations only showed up. I booked at the 280E location, but I didnt know how far it really was from me until I got there. I needed a shuttle to the store. The store clerk at 280E was on the phone for over an hour trying to transfer my reservation to the Montgomery Hwy location. She tried the Hertzs Nationwide booking services AND tried calling the Montgomery Hwy (Hoover) location. However, she was unsuccessful with both. She decided to keep the reservation at their location and send one of their drivers to pick me up,even though I was out of bounds. I didnt know that they had overnight drop off at this location. Nevertheless, I showed up this morning with the rental awaiting for the 280E location to open. They didnt know that I needed a shuttle back home. I could sense that this caused some frustration. I agree with the frustration-this was a hassle because there was a Hertzs near me (couldnt reach for whatever reason), and they had other matters to attend to, but I appreciate them for going out of the way to get me AND take me back home. Lastly, I want to thank Mr. Larry for his kindness and making this experience great! We talked the entire time while he was picking me up and taking me home. He is a very smart and kindhearted person and his positive energy makes the world a better place!

The car would not start and ending up taking our own car because we needed to get somewhere at that point. We called Karen and she told US to figure it out and it was our responsibility to return the car back. This is the worst car rental experience I’ve had and will not recommend this to anyone.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff (Karen was the sweetest). Through the insurance coverage Hertz offered complimentary pickup / drop off services. Which was super helpful to me since I didn’t have anyone to assist me. My car was safe and reliable.

They did a good job getting me into a brand new jeep while my car is being fixed... they were laid back and very polite ... only complaint was they are short on inventory and selection... but cant be to fussy when you dont have a ride and just about anything beats walking

Placed an order for a car online, and drove to the place to pick up the car for the scheduled time, When I got the the location, I walked in and gave the staff my name and told them I was here to pick up my car. The start told me they did not have any cars available and that I should have called 1st to make sure they had a car available. Just an all around inconvenience.

Went in and was greeted. Went through process of renting a car I had booked online. Counter Help(lady) tried to upsale me on insurance and coverage that I didnt need because my insurance covered everything.Counter Help(male) took me to car and evaluate for dents, dings and mileage and interior condition of car. He was professional and courteous. Overall experience was OK.

I used Hertz while my car was being repaired after an accident. The staff was very helpful and they coordinated for me to have a ride from the repair shop to the Hertz location and then back again the day I dropped off the car. Everything was very simple.

I havent been to this location yet, but the fact that they even answered the phone was better than the location on Montgomery Highway. They promptly found my reservation made by the insurance company and made sure that I would have a car ready when I got there. The guy that answered the phone was very informative and was able to answer all my questions instead of just telling me to show up like the other location.

I reserved a premium car online at the 5th Avenue South location. For the next 4 hours I went from the 5th Avenue South location, to the 280 location, to the airport location in afternoon/evening traffic. Nobody had any premium cars. Ended up driving my own car.

My experience with this location was great. I called and spoke to Chris and told him that I need a specific vehicle (minivan). We arrived at our scheduled pickup time and he had exactly what we needed waiting on us. The service level we received from Chris at this location was fantastic.

If I could give this rating a 0 I would. Had a 10:00 a.m. reservation for a rental while my car was in the auto-shop. Got a phone call an hour before reservation time stating there were no cars available, and they would call me once someone turned a car in. Two hours later, no phone call and Im stranded without a car unable to get to work. When asked if I could pick up a car at any other location, I was told there were no other cars available at any location (yes, you read that correctly), but they were doing everything they could. Good luck getting someone to even pick up the phone there. Dealing with them has been the biggest hassle.

Great location, staff is fast and very polite! Usually will upgrade at no charge. Easy to get to and there is Shell gas station close for filling up before return (dont ever buy the refuel option) . They do close promptly at six, so dont be late with a return.

I wish there was a 0 to rate them. Apparently, a reservation means nothing to them. You need to call them a 100 times for them to answer the phone once. They stonewalled me and did not even offer another car. Without using the F-word they asked me to F-off. Will stay away from Hertz in future. I am going to let the corporate know about these scumbags. I wish I had seen the reviews for this location before I made a reservation.

The worse place on earth. No one would answer phone so I drove up there. Guess what? Door was open and no one was there. I went in back and yelled, no one responded. Called another branch and asked for area manager. Got a name and cell number and called. Guess what? He never answered or called me back. Awesome service!!!

Have been dealing with this staff at this location for about 2 years. By far the best staff that has worked at this location in the 5 years Ive been doing business with this HLE.Quinton Prothro and his staff, Karen and Chauncey, are accomodating and professional, and will work diligently to resolve any issues with rentals. Vehicle selection is always ample and and the staff will honor the best rates they can give you. Highly recommended.

Worst ever. I read the reviews on google and thought it cant be that bad. Heres what happened to me when I tried to rent a car from this location.1. Called the day before to get guidance. Phone rang for 10 min while I did email. No one picked up.2. Made an online reservation that day. Tech accepted my reservation. No people involved.3. Called next day (day of reservation) first thing after they opened. Forwarded to cell phone voice mail with no name.4. Guy calls back and asks who is this? I mention Im renting from hertz and he warms up. Hes delivering cars. I ask him to confirm he has a car for me when he gets back in the office. He agrees to call me.5. No call. I walk in midday. He tells me he doesnt have cars. Says he called me. No call. Tells me that maybe cars will be available tomorrow.One of the worst overall experiences Ive had in travel. Low ratings were on the money. Go to enterprise in Inverness. I only went here because its what State Farm told me to use in conjunction with my claim.

Made a reservation 10 days ago for a vehicle at this location. Ten minutes before leaving to pick up the vehicle for vacation we were called to say they had NO vehicles on their lot. Said they had tried in Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, numerous locations in Birmingham, Cullman, Anniston, etc. and could not find an available vehicle. Blame was basically put on corporate. Thank goodness my AAA agent helped us locate a vehicle and Enterprise really worked with us after hearing our story about Hertz. Thank you Enterprise car rental.
