Terrible business with subpar employees. Maybe if they had more than 3 people working there, it wouldn’t be so bad.

They would not come at night which is when I needed them. My bathroom leaked so much water from a cracked seal in the toilet handle, that the subfloor of my bathroom, which is a solid ceramic tile crashed through and to my ceiling and onto the kitchen floor. Because there was so much water and ceiling debris that crashed through, it ended up in my basement as welI and poured into my furnace, ruining that too.. that didnt happen until the next day,, it took me so long to clean up on my own. I really needed someone there to clean the debris and the water because there was so much I had 3 pets and my husband is in hospital recovering from COVID 19. They had no one available at night To come to clean up the water even though it was recommended from my insurance company that I call them. I had to clean up the water myself, cleaned up most of the debris. They seemed eager to do estimates on the repair of my home, since they knew the insurance company was going to pay, but not willing to come at night to clean up the mess and the copious amounts of water on 3 floors of my home. I ended up using my own wet dry vac, my own fans, and even took my carpet cleaner to the floors and ruined carpet to suck out the water. ServePro used to be a part of ServiceMaster. I worked as a manager of Merry Maids franchise in Maryland. This lack of appreciation for the severity of the situation was lack luster at best. The young man they sent the next day was pleasant and engaging in conversation, however, the lack of emergency response the night before, and me having to do the work to clean up, in my opinion makes the whole experience not a positive one. The damage to my home was worsened because they refused to come that evening. Every single contractor I have now, all have told my insurance adjuster, that if the water was cleaned up quickly the damage would have been less. My insurance company will not pay for all that needs to be done, so for me. I only gave 2 stars because of how pleasant the young man they sent the next day was.

Prior to me renting an apartment, my landlady had servpro to clean up after the last tenant. The last tenant had a dog she wasnt supposed to have. Since the landlady lives across the street, she NEVER let the dog out to do its business. Rather she had the dog defecate in the garage. Servpro removede the bulk of what the girl left my landlady, but left a lot of remnants of the dookie on the floor. My landlady being elderly and very trusting, signed off on the work. When I called servpro, the girl told me, she signed off on it. Thats not a good answer, or attitude. Their ad says, as if it never happened . They did not clean the floor at all, they just removed the bulk, collected a large some of money, and gave me a verbal middle finger on the phone. Do not use them. Id hate to think what poor work they would do with health threatening situations like mold.

I called SERVPRO Binghamton in April of 2019 to have them remove water-damaged insulation from the underside of my rental property. On 7/19/19, my contractor discovered that the workers had not finished the job. The back 3rd of the underside was filled with water-logged insulation. They did not even remove the neoprene covering, which trapped the insulation for months, leading to mold and further water damage. When I called the job supervisor, Jason, he told me to pound salt and that there was no way they were coming back to complete the job. I proceeded to call the office and ask for a manager, who responded promptly and scheduled a new work crew to finish the job.I appreciate that the franchise is making efforts toward restitution. However, Jason is a loud mouthed, arrogant individual who does not reflect well on your company or it’s services, which are clearly suspect to begin with. The level of contempt that I was spoken to with was breathtaking, particularly when he refused to even acknowledge the possibility he could have committed an error. My contractor took video of the water pouring out of the insulation bay, but Jason decided to risk your company’s name and reputation over his wounded pride and the possibility he screwed up. Moreover, according to the crew that came out to fix his incompetence, he was apparently scared off by a possum. What damage mitigation worker worth their salt doesnt finish the job and lies to a paying customer over a marsupial? If anyone is considering contacting ServPro for damage mitigation services, make sure you don’t have Jason to manage the job. If you feel like having someone do 2/3s of a job, lie about it to your face, insult your intelligence and refuse to fix his mistakes, ask for Jason directly.

Avoid Servpro at all costs. While they will seem friendly and eager to help, as soon as you sign a contract with them, they will disappear. Servpro was recommended through my insurance company, USAA, when my house flooded in the first week of January. Five months of living in a hotel later, and my house still isnt repaired. The most important thing to understand about Servpro is that they are not contractors--they have no expertise in any aspect of the actual repairs/construction/remodeling of your home. All of their work will be sub-contracted out to local or regional contractors and vendors. Servpro has no general contracting or management experience in coordinating multiple, independent teams. This means that the team tasked with mitigation isnt coordinated with the team tasked with flooring, neither team is coordinated with plumbers or carpenters or roofers. The wrong materials will be ordered in the wrong quantities. When you try to ask Servpro about the status of your home, you cannot expect a reliable answer with any speed. I have spent weeks waiting on communication from Servpro with no feedback about the progress of the work on my home.Servpros negligence extends far beyond their incompetence in managing the project. In my case, the entire first floor of my home was destroyed. Flooring, drywall, kitchen, bathrooms all needed to be completely redone. I selected most of the replacement materials from Lowes, which is where problems began and red flags were first raised. Servpro insisted on paying for all the materials , which would have been fine, except that Lowes kept calling me as Servpros credit cards were continuously declined. Servpro then went behind my back and told Lowes to stop copying me on emails, stating that I did not want to be bothered with the details of the project. I would not discover until 5 months later that no fewer than a dozen individual employees at Servpro would be calling in to use their personal credit cards to cover purchases. Lowes would reveal that the Servpro company credit cards almost never worked. To make matters worse, Servpro would order the wrong parts or wrong quantities or fail to order parts at all. 5 months later, and I am just discovering that the carpeting was never ordered, the backsplash was never ordered, the transitions for the flooring were never ordered, and so many other little things were never ordered. Meanwhile, I have stacks of glues and tiles and miscellaneous parts that I will have to return. If the management of materials was horrific, the mitigation of the original flooding was even worse. The cause of the flooding was a series of pipes that froze and burst in the first, brutal cold of January 2018. Servpro did not correctly fix the pipes and all of the associated plumbing issues until late March--and Servpro would not have done this if I did not regularly visit the house to inspect the state of repairs. This resulted in thousands of dollars in extra plumbing costs as leak after new leak was discovered as the weather began to warm. The flooring had to be removed, but the mitigation team did not remove the glue affixing the floor to the concrete--this would prevent the new flooring from being correctly glued down months later. Servpro teams did not check the breakers when connecting the air handlers which were positioned to dry the floors and walls. Over half of the fans placed throughout the house were not running for more than a week as the breakers had tripped--and no one came by to check to ensure that the fans were running. The mitigation crew trashed everything without regard to my instructions and without thought to future repairs. When they actually show up, Servpro has mismanaged the project in every way imaginable. Avoid Servpro at all costs. Never do business with them under any conditions.
