Rude, unapologetic, horrible customer service. The first call they were very nice and helped with some recommendations for homeschooling. When they sent over the contract, it appeared to have a misprint. I called and talked to someone on the phone, who refused to clarify it for me or even look at the wording, repeatedly telling me that it had survived many legal challenges. That was not my concern and it was a very odd response. In addition, while I was trying to talk to this person, she repeatedly talked over me. I have never experienced anything like it--literally cutting off every sentence I spoke. I decided to walk away. The owner later got in touch with me and convinced me to return--sorry I did! Took forever to find a tutor, and because of that, my child fell behind. I tried to discuss the challenges with the owner? (Patrick) and asked what assurances I would have if the tutor I finally decided to hire walked off the job, since he was asking for full payment ($11,000) up front. He just said, that will never happen, which is clearly not something he can predict. Then he started doing the same thing--talking over me, not letting me finish a sentence and accusing me of being paranoid. He mentioned they have other programs for occasional after school tutoring and I asked if he would send me information on that (I was already thinking ahead to next year and potentially keeping this tutor, though for fewer hours). He became super defensive (you might say paranoid!) and started screaming at me that I was trying not to pay the contract. He was absolutely awful to me, and as I was trying calmly explaining why I was upset, he cut me off again and said he didnt have time and I just needed to pay him. This is a perfect summary of their customer service: they only care about their money and there are no standards for how they should treat customers. Im supposed to believe this person will provide the services for the $11K when he treats customers like this? STAY AWAY.

Avoid applying to this company. I just went through the screening / interview process. I responded to a very normal looking ad, which was actually masked as a high-profile client e.g. a major, worldwide pop star. I was supposed to teach their child. I went through the application process; phone screening from both the recruiter and assistant; and then invited to the home of the client. The whole process was very secretive and cloak and dagger with very limited information (understandable). What was frustrating was how I received the information with little to go on or prepare properly; and the recruiter didnt give me the courtesy of timely communication and/or responding in a timely manner. I had to repeat questions multiples times. So any other jobs I have had to take a backseat where I couldnt properly input my hours for the week. I lost money. The high-profile client by the way was strange and to be honest not worth it. The fact I knew more than the recruiter and the company is terrible. I was given mixed messages from the recruiter that they liked me and they were figuring out their schedule for me to start teaching. Two days later I get an impersonal text at 7:15 a.m. that they are going a different way. No call; no guidance, or anything else other than a TEXT. I then called customer service who said theyd connect me with Patrick. No call. I called back today where the young lady remembered me and said Patrick said he already talked with me and everything was now clear. Nope. He never called nor did I speak with anyone named Patrick. Terrible communication and terrible process with no professional demeanor. Avoid.

STOP! Do Not give this company your money upfront! My Sons schedule got too busy to be able to use them. They would not get back to me and the man was very rude on the phone and told me It was my fault I signed up and paid $300....Awful service and we never even got to use a tutor from them.....Lori

After going through 3 tutors and being unsatisfied (first one showed up hungover on a Saturday, second one did not match our times we were available, third one was a no show no call) we reached out to the company asking for our money back. We felt it wasn’t a good fit for our family and our needs anymore besides the fact i was frustrated with the previous 3 tutors. We were told that the only thing they could do was to set up an online session with another tutor due to COVID19 restrictions. I told them I did no longer want their services and to just send me the balance in my account ($1000). The woman that I spoke with told me there was no manager to speak with and no one above her that i could talk to about getting a refund. What???!!!! I asked her if she was the owner of the company and she said no but there was no one to speak with. I asked for her name and she gave me an employee number! At this point I was REALLY done. After several emails and phone calls I STILL have not gotten my money back and we are considering legal action! DO NOT use this company. They take your money upfront, and to get it back is impossible if you are unsatisfied with their service.

HeyTutor is great! It’s just what we were looking for to help my daughter get a boost over winter break before heading into the second semester. I can set my own schedule, the tutors come to my house, and they’re great. The best part is that you get to choose who you want to work with!

How can you go wrong? Most of their tutors have positive ratings, so I assume they remove any unqualified tutors. Just search for your specific tutor and you can set a schedule with them. Could be a little easier if it would just show the tutors email or even phone number, but I guess other sites all work like this too. 5 stars.

Ive overall had a great experience with heytutor. at first I was a bit skeptical using the site to find a tutor, but after contacting a few potential tutors I saw a great response rate and decided to move forward. Im very pleased with my tutor and his professional manner. He takes each lesson very seriously and comes over prepared.
