Experimax is not only one of my favorite establishments in the area – but indeed, they are a gem of a business for all Apple product owners.I have had numerous experiences with Experimax for myriad service needs – from a simple power issue on an aging G5 PowerMac, to upgrades and sustainability fixes on a 2009 Mac Pro. The work that the team performs at Experimax can best be described as surgical, for indeed, they operate like doctors to keep your beloved Apple alive and functioning. Moreover, the knowledge base shared between the owner, Alex, as well as Chris and the rest of the Experimax team extends well beyond mere repairs. They know audio/video, they know gaming, and they are knowledgeable about all emerging Apple technology.It must also be noted that the customer service that I have experienced at Experimax is second-to-none. They have treated me (and no doubt all of their customers) like family, always employing crystal clear, yet thoughtful and honest communication related to whatever service I have sought from them. Ladies and Gentlemen, they cannot be compared to the Apple “Genius Bar,” or any other outfit that purports to service Apple products. You can expect EXPERT service, with heart, from real Apple “geniuses” that love what they do. It’s crazy to me when I see that companies like this exist and NOBODY knows or speaks of them.As an avid future filmmaker and current videographer I knew my MacBook Pro just wasn’t gonna hold up for what I was getting ready to throw at it so I hit the googles for research. I stumbled across this place in Bethesda looking for an i7 iMac or something that could carry the weight of 4K editing without busting my a** price wise. I called ahead to check the inventory and speak on recommended specs of things and these guys KNOW their Apples (pun?) I settled on a M1 Mac mini for a GREAT PRICE with a GAMING 27in monitor (known to be super expensive) Magic Mouse and they even threw in the magic keyboard FOR FREE. I have been recommending them to everybody and I will be from now on.

When I migrated from Windows to Mac, I had more than a few questions, and Chris at Experimac patiently and knowledgeably answered them all. I bought a used Mac system from him a year ago and Ive been very happy with the system and with the reliable and honest advice from Chris and his team. He takes the time to ask how you will use the hardware in order to understand what you need, then figures out the best options for your budget. He never tries to sell you more than you need. Ive sent one of my best friends to him when she needed her Mac repaired, and she was very pleased. Then I took my husband in to upgrade his system. Hes a happy camper. I wouldnt buy a Mac anywhere else. Highest recommendation.

Experimax is a go to, I dont usually post reviews but Mike always goes above and beyond and Ive been going here exclusively for computer/phone repairs for a while now. By far the best repair shop Ive ever been to.

Experimax is exceptional for service. First, when you call them instead of having to press 1, press 6, press 9.... Chris the owner, his son Mike and Marcus almost always pick up the phone on the first couple of rings. I recently bought a new I-Mac and brought it in to them to transfer all the data from my 13 year old I-Mac. I had been warned that this might not be possible, so I was really worried. They effortlessly transferred all the data, 20 years of it! When I came in to pick up the computer they spent two hours explaining the new computer and answering my questions. They did all this for a very reasonable fee. Then, after I took the computer home, I called them nearly a dozen times with questions, which they answered efficiently and cheerfully. Thank you Experimax!

I rarely write reviews on the stores I visit, but the level of service Mike, Chris and Marcus provide is TOP Notch!! Everyone is very knowledgeable, honest and are not satisfied until you are satisfied. I can not recommend Experimac Bethesda enough! Apple sent me looking for a third party to replace a battery in a late 2011 MacBook Pro. Their list didnt have anyone nearby so I went to Google and found Experimax. Truly glad I did! I phoned, they said come on in and less than 2 hours later I had a new battery and answers to all my questions. At a great price. Last, everyone in the shop was super-easy to talk to and able to inspire confidence. Best tech support experience ever.

This is a great find! They kept me informed every step of the way with timely status updates, etc. The team was knowledge and pampered me. They even took my iPhone (smashed screen and home button) to the Apple store to wait in line for a fix - as the phone was run over it was more than just a basic screen replacement, which they can perform in-house. Again, nothing but good things to say about this business.They are my go to spot for all things Mac.

I brought in an iPhone that was not performing up to par, not knowing if I should fix it or buy another. The extremely knowledgeable team at Experimac Bethesda performed a diagnosis of the phones function that helped me decide that replacing the phone would be the more economic choice. Experimac is also a great place to get Apple products repaired, because they have sophisticated diagnostic tools to find and fix the problems. Finally, for me Experimac is a better environment to make important purchasing decisions (products are reconditioned, which I dont mind) than the Apple Store, which is such a noisy, chaotic, stress-inducing environment. They also give a YEARLONG warranty on anything you buy from them. Highly recommend.

These guys are great! Ive taken my iPhone in for service twice, and both times they solved my problem for a very reasonable charge. They tell you in advance what the possible problems are, and what the likely cost will be for each level f repair. Theyll also tell you if youre better off replacing the unit than repairing it. Excellent service, friendly staff. Highly recommended!

They are the best. They fixed my computer at a more reasonable rate than the Apple store, and were incredibly knowledgeable and communicative throughout the entire process. Also have been back to buy refurbished ipads and they were willing to match a price I saw at another store. Great service and great work.

I went to Experimac to get a replacement battery for my iPhone. The staff was professional and knowledgeable in handling the issues with my phone. They ran diagnostics on the phone to ensure that there were no other issues that were causing my battery to drain before installing a replacement. Experimac’s technicians were prompt in replacing the battery in my phone and the price of the replacement was very reasonable. My phone now has a much improved performance with the new battery. All in all, excellent service!

Unbelievably good service at this Apple repair and certified used computer store. Each employee is knowledgeable and helpful and Chris, the owner, goes way out of his way to assure that customers receive the help and equipment they need. In our case we were looking for a preowned Apple with specific capacity for a musician and writer. In addition, it was to be sent to Paris. Chris dealt with all of the questions our friend had with such patience and HE OFFERED TO PACK THE COMPUTER AND TAKE IT TO FEDEX FOR US!!! There was no extra service fee, just the shipping costs. We are so grateful for his conscientious care.

After returning the screen protector that came with my Android Samsung I researched many different many screen protectors for S8 and ended up totally frustrated. Jan 2, I called the new Experimac location in Bethesda; re liquid glass protectors; drove over and within the hour I was happily on my way with one applied to my Galaxy S8. Best customer service and excellent work ethic. Hoping they expand to include Android products.

Came here because my computer wouldnt turn on. Chris and co are extremely polite and visiting feels like a relief from most urban experiences, let alone the Apple Store. Came in to have a cracked iPhone10 screen repaired. After a thorough diagnostics exam, I was given a quote and told to return in an hour. When I returned, I was told there was a issue that did not show up in the diagnostics exam. Not only did the owner, Chris, take my phone to the Apple Store for help sorting out the issue, he did it after store hours (on a Saturday night no less), and did not add on any of the extra charges I am sure he incurred. This was way above-and-beyond what we have come to expect in terms of customer service today. I could not recommend this store highly enough. If I lived in Bethesda (grew up here, but now am based in London), this would be my first stop for anything Apple related. Chris and his staff are courteous, thorough, and above all, put the customer first.

Walked in today, 2/20, with a broken iPhone 6 screen. Quoted $189 + tax. When asked if this was a bit expensive, I was told it is because it is an iPhone 6 and that I could save some money by going to a stall/vendor, who would not put genuine apple parts. Walked into Bethesda Apple Store. I was quoted for $129+tax and an estimate of 1.5hrs to pick it up. I went with Apple and yes, they did use Apple genuine parts ;) Still trying to figure out why they wanted to charge $189.. I would not go back.Updated as of 3/5 - see attached snapshot. All of a sudden a 5 star review from Jennie Wentzel for all of your locations (wow, Jennie has travelled to all of your locations - 20 or so and each one to be excellent!!!) to improve your ratings is looking shady too. A coincident it is out at the same time you guys replied. More reasons to stay away from your business.

These folks are great! I had unfortunately spilled a bit of tea on my iMac. They ran diagnostics, replaced the logic board and got me up and running again. Way nicer than dealing with Apple. Not only did they fix my computer, but they also got an iPad and an iPhone operational for me.....for free! I am at a loss when it comes to technology and was super grateful for their kindness in walking me through all I needed. After my experience at Experimax I would never go anywhere else for help with an Apple product. Theyre the best!

I am so pleased with the service I received from the guys at Experimac Bethesda, specifically from Chris who was awesome, knowledgeable and so helpful throughout the whole process. It was frustrating to not be able to use my phone, which had become a paper weight by the time I brought it to Chris. He understood my frustration, kept me updated and informed of what was wrong with the phone, what he would be doing to fix it and kept the price reasonable. After he fixed my phone and saw there were still issues with it, he made sure I knew what was going on and even gave me a loaner phone so I wouldn’t be without one. I would most definitely recommend Experimac Bethesda to anyone and everyone that needs a phone, computer or technology repair. These guys clearly love what they do and it shows in their customer service, knowledge about the products and care they take in making sure you leave knowing they did all they could to get your device back in excellent working condition. Chris and his team at Experimac on Fairmont Ave in Bethesda have been downright awesome. They have dealt with numerous issues, upgraded our equipment including an iMac 27 and two MacBook Pros to like brand new performance. I highly recommend them.

Literally was about to get rid of my 2010 MacBook but Im glad I didnt because this team saved it by helping out with the hard drive. They were very punctual with keeping me up to date with the repair and I really appreciated that.

Had the pleasure of my DJ laptop receiving liquid graveyard damage to my MacBook! Needed a new laptop IMMEDIATELY and Chris and Mike did just that! Such a nice team of people that genuinely care about the needs of the customer! They were eager to learn about the way files are read in Serato (DJ Program), not only to help me, but to help future clients as well! They made everything easy and once I got the new laptop in my hand, it was literally like nothing happen! I recently brought my Macbook Pro to Experimac to diagnose a problem I was having with the display. The laptop was hooked up to a computer screen to see if the display worked on another screen, which it did. I was told the problem could be one of two things, and was told the approximate costs of each fix. I let them proceed, and they found in opening the laptop that the batteries had expanded, thereby cracking the screen. I chose to get the screen replaced. It took close to a week for the new screen to come in, but Im very happy with the result. Everyone was very helpful at Experimac. Thanks for a great consumer experience!

Needed help in a pinch on a small part for an old iPhone. Really appreciate their customer service. They were happy to assist even though it wasnt a money making service for them. Because of this assistance now Im familiar with the team there, the services and products that they sell, including refurbed iPhones. Will definitely be going back when shopping for refurbed Apple products and any services.

Ive never bothered to leave a review for a business before but felt compelled to do so after my experience at the Bethesda Experimac. I was looking for a place that would install a solid state drive in my iMac. I spoke to Chris and he was so knowledgeable and friendly, that I decided that Experimac was where I would bring it. Im glad I did. Mike, Chris, and Marcus were awesome! Mike in particular was really stellar, answering all my questions and making sure that I was satisfied with the service. My iMac is humming now and I owe it all to this caring, professional, and passionate staff. I plan on going back as they also have a nice selection of refurbished Apple products. Thanks guys!

EDIT: Experimax Bethesda had replaced the battery in my Apple MacBook. Unfortunately, it lasted barely a year before it started bulging. I had to have it replaced at personal cost. When I took it in to be replaced, I was told that the battery could have exploded.Great experience with Experimac. You always hope to find someone honest, fair and skilled to deal with service /product issues. But you can never be sure. The guys at Experimac were professional, competent and took a fair amount of time explaining what options were available to me instead of trying to sell me what was most convenient/profitable for them. This will be our familys go-to-place for all things Apple from now on. Wonderful service.

I purchased a used MacBook Pro from Experimac Bethesda after a friend recommended them. Because Apple is still tweeking their product lines and nothing at the Mac Store was quite right, I went to Experimac where I was able to try a number of different models and find one that was just what I wanted at a good savings (from the cost of new). The staff are all friendly and very helpful, especially Chris. The after sales service is outstanding, as they have helped me with several minor issues Ive had with trying to get my settings right, etc. Ive had a great experience at Experimac. Its definitely worth checking out their offerings and talking to them.

Marcus and the group in Bethesda have been receptive, responsive, continue to check on my MAC needs.

While dealing directly with Apple ranges from inconvenient to infuriating, these guys are amazing. They spent a ton of time on my Macbook diagnosing the problem extremely thoroughly, finding a well-hidden recall notice from Apple and then dealing with those pirates from Cupertino on my behalf. In short, they did a ton of work and charged me a minimal amount. And they were always a complete pleasure to deal with.

I had the pleasure of experiencing top notch customer service from Chris and Mike. I purchased my iMac from the previous owner of this location a few years ago. I brought the iMac in to upgrade to a fusion hard drive. After inspecting my machine, Mike realized that the hard drive was never set up properly by the previous owner and offered to correct the mistake for free! His service was quick, I had the computer back and running smoothly in no time. Due to his free service, I no longer needed to upgrade, saving me over $300. This location has my business and I will be back when its time to purchase a new computer. Thank you!

This team deserves five stars and then some. Their attention to customer service and to the hardware they sell is what got me to buy. From my first time talking to them about my requirements for a new machine, they were there patiently evaluating my needs and making proper recommendations.If you need to get a great Mac (whether that be a Mac Air, MBP, or any other Mac) they are there. The prices are VERY competitive, and though they may charge a bit more than online stores, you have a brick and mortar right in Bethesda to address your questions, service your machine, and stand behind their word when it comes to what they provide, plus they offer great warranty.I will gladly pay a little bit more to these guys, than go through an online source just because I know who I am buying from, and I can say I trust their understanding and knowledge of the technology.And to boot, it’s a family run business, this father and son duo go above and beyond to make sure all your questions are answered and all your Mac needs are met. Case in point, the father stuck around one night when I was coming in to buy the machine, and even after an hour of me going back and forth between two machines (an hour after the store closed) he still helped me out and had a great attitude while doing so.Walking distance from Redline.Lastly, I have also checked out other stores in the area for what I needed and I can tell you with certainty that these guys are light years ahead in how much care and focus they put on you and what equipment they offer to you, the customer.Purchased - MacBook Pro.

Laptop problem at an authorized repair for three weeks. they called to say it was repaired. it was misdiagnosed and not repaired when i fetched it. Brought it to Experimax & problem was repaired very quickly & professionally.Brought an iphone in for repair that needed a special order part replaced. They gave me a loaner phone & duplicated my phone onto the loaner!!
