I cant recommend Bethesda Chimney highly enough - they did fantastic work, were thoroughly professional throughout the entire process, and were, to a person, great to interact with.We needed some serious chimney work done (as well as some outside cleanup to our brick house). They gave us a very reasonable quote, did the work more quickly than promised, and then made sure we understood all the details and the work that was done. I especially want to call out Zach for sticking with us through the whole process, Natalie for handling all of the necessary back and forth, and Bryan for showing up after hours (8:30 PM!) at our house to get the final check and talk about cats.You cant go wrong with Bethesda Chimney!

The service of this company is terrific. They are responsive and thorough and very pleasant to work with. They use video cameras to film inside the flues as well as conditions on the roof that are otherwise inaccessible, and they explained all of their work along the way.We learned that we needed a chimney cap to protect our flue, and they even showed us how to arrange logs in wood-burning fireplaces for maximum efficiency. I highly recommend this firm.The only downside was that we had to wait a bit for service because they were making major repairs to the home of the Vice-President of the United States.

Scheduled a repair with masonry work and cleaning and a new cap. Big job but was very impressed by the professionalism of Rogel and Cody. They wore booties on their shoes and kept masks on. They covered all of the nearby furniture and carpet so as to not leave any mess and when they left, I swear, the room was cleaner than when we started.

I would highly recommend against using Bethesda Chimney. We engaged them to perform a Phase II inspection and quote a number of other home improvement items that they advertise on their website.For the fireplace, I received an on-site total estimate of $5K to $7K (max) on both fireplaces. The official quote came in at over $11K.On the other home repair services, the technician did not offer honest advice on what we should or should not repair, but instead quoted everything with a total estimate that came in at $35K.For example, there were several slate tiles loose on on the back patio with an estimate of over $7,000. They also quoted $3,500 to power wash the home. We got the power washing done, for the same exact scope, at $400 (multiple groups were at this same price).Additionally, unlike other chimney repair companies, they will charge a $270 Phase II inspection fee (which is double their competitors), but not credit it towards any of the work.I requested to speak to a manager or owner for months, to no avail, to express my concerns. I was only ever connected to someone in their payment department or the tech that came to site.Ultimately, we engaged another group to do the inspection given the lack of confidence and customer service that Bethesda Chimney provided. The other group that we used were very thorough and noted a number of items that were not contemplated in Bethesda Chimneys scope.

We hired Bethesda Chimney to inspect and clean a chimney we hadnt used or cleaned in over 15 years. They were up on our roof and did a thorough inspection from both ends of the flue. They had quite a mess on their hands but did a very professional job. I was nervous because the apartment had recently been renovated with all new light colored carpet & paint. They were very conscientious and made sure nothing got smudged and left everything clean after they left. I appreciate that they really listened to our concerns, focused on our current needs, gave a clear report of what to look for in the future, and didnt push to upsell us on anything we didnt need! I highly recommend them.

Bethesda Chimney was extremely professional, courteous and customer friendly. From the owner, the inspector/estimator, the office personnel and the technicians doing the work, we were treated with courtesy and respect. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I had a pipe coming from my hot water heater to the chimney vent that was angled downward, therefore potentially leaking carbon monoxide, plus the chimney was not lined. Bethesda Chimney did an inspection and sent me an estimate the same day I called. Given the low ceiling height, the best solution for the downward pipe was to install a shorter water heater. At my request, they called in one of the plumbing contractors they work with and were able to install and repipe the water heater and furnace, as well as install the chimney lining and cap the next day. They had state of the art technology, with a camera they lowered into the chimney that sent video to a screen up top. Their price for the chimney work was less than I expected and they were extremely freindly and helpful. They wore protective booties when walking through the house and had proof of covid vaxes and wore masks. Overall a very good experience and everything seems to be working well.

The staff is young, rude, and not taking the pandemic seriously. They are walking around my building without a face mask. They blocked my driveway and when asked how long they would be there they started yelling at me, saying they had the right to block my driveway when I needed to leave. I strongly suggest looking for more experienced workers to do your chimney work.Based off of my experience with the individuals working at my property I would take the good reviews with a grain of salt, they are probably paid for and dont reflect my experience at all.

Persistent sales, incomplete information. Requested a quote for work. Representative arrived, discussed options and was provided a quote which did not include requested information. Quote was detailed and representative provided information on work to be completed. But not for a couple items specifically requested. Emailed Bethesda Chimney (BC) and asked about it without result. BC continued with persistent emails to discuss work. Informed them on other quotes to be solicited. All other companies did not require the pay to quote. Other quotes were significantly less. BC will say that’s due to licenses, warranty, materials or work. While some of that might be true, had to go with a company that paid attention to customer requests.

Bethesda Chimney saved me from scammers! I had chelsea chimney quote me $10k rebuild and they refused to do the sweep that I had hired them for. Got Bethesda chimney out to get a second opinion. Not only did I not need a rebuild, but Bryan looked up the manual and taught me maintenance on my model. Did a full inspection and sweep super quickly. Great service, highly recommend!

The Bethesda Chimney crew did an excellent job diagnosing problems with our chimneys and repairing them. They took on additional work with ease - moving a dryer vent and fixing mortar on our detached garage - and they finished a major project (relining our chimneys, fixing brickwork, etc.) ahead of schedule. The details are critical for many of us as both consumers and providers of a service. On the day of the appointment, Brian arrived within the scheduled window, and he called me when in route to confirm hed be arriving in 20 minutes. BRAVO!! This showed me that he respected our time and his commitment to keeping us in the loop of his arrival.The service itself included not only a physical cleaning of our Wood Stove insert, but it also include inspection and some education on how to maintain the specific product/insert that was installed. Bethesda Chimney did a full reline of my chimney (2 fireplaces) and they did a fantastic job. I’d highly recommend this company if you need chimney services. All touch points of the process – from the bid to the scheduling office to the chimney crew – were friendly, professional and did a great job. There were a few unforeseen costs along the way (e.g. unforeseen brickwork and unforeseen 3rd flue tear out due to the small size of my chimney) and while these repairs were frustrating, Bethesda Chimney did a fantastic job showing us why they were critical and kept the costs manageable, relieving a lot of stress.The crew was great. Juan, Elijah, Matthew, Adam and Spencer did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend this crew. They were professional, communicative and did very high quality work. This is the most professional focused company I have dealt with in years. From the updates and reminder emails to the professional service in my home . The men were tasked with removing birds from my very old uncapped chimney. They diagnosed and tackled the problem head on , which also included removing any birds dead or alive, taking photos and documentation of the process and temporarily securing and capping the chimney . We had a great experience with Bethesda Chimney and recommend them highly. We had a long term problem with lots of water leaking into the firebox, especially after a heavy rain. Bethesda Chimney scheduled an inspection, then made recommendations for required work and optional repairs/upgrades. The inspector arrived on time, did a thorough inspection, and provided a detailed inspection report and estimate before leaving. That was followed by a written quote. The work had to be scheduled over several days. Daniel kept in regular touch about who would be at the house when. They were careful about what work could be done when. Outdoor work required clear skies and the correct temperature. When we needed additional repairs to our chimney flashing, Bethesda Chimney paused their work to allow for that repair. The techniciansbwere all good at their jobs, friendly, and careful to keep dirt and dust to a minimum in the house. The mason did a great job rebuilding the firebox, which looks brand new (because it is!). We are very happy with the results. Any chimney repair is expensive, no matter who you hire to do the work. Bryan Whitaker and Bethesda Chimney provided superior quality and value.

Ive used Bethesda Chimney for 4 properties now, including my own. Theres not much more that I can say other than that I will probably use this company for life. Ive worked with Brian and hes been my go-to for chimney cleaning, masonry chimney repair, and gas chimney repair. We recently had an issue with my home that I was selling, that involved a complicated repair with multiple visits. We were charged a reasonable amount each and every time, with quality work. I consider quality work to be something that continues to operate for more than a few years. I havent had any complaints nor issues, and with the amount of work theyve done for me has always been quality. Also, dont be turned off by the Bethesda name, it doesnt mean theyll upcharge you. The work was reasonable for what they did, and in terms of quality and price I definitely wasnt upcharged. If youre looking for someone that will give you honest feedback with honest work, Brain and Co are your guys.

This company is legit. They came out to inspect my chimney, and they found that it was not dirty enough to warrant a cleaning. Most other companies would have cleaned it regardless. Very honest and worth the wait for the appointment!

I called Bethesda Chimney because the owner graduated from B-CC High School in my neighborhood. We needed to have the chimney lined so it is up to Montgomery County code. The staff if friendly. Gina answered all of my questions. We were rescheduled due to rain but we were still able to use the fireplace on Christmas Day - which was our goal. Also, we liked the fact that there estimate was the amount of the final bill. No hidden fees. They left everything cleaner than they found it!!! 5 stars!

Our experiences with Bethesda Chimney have been most positive and satisfactory, underpinned by a feeling of reassurance of safety concerning our fireplace, chimney and flues. Bryan Whitaker discovered another chimney service had failed eight years earlier to properly install flues for the fireplace and the hot water heater - furnace. The fireplace parging was not completed for the fireplace and the flue for the water heater and furnace had not been connected, posing a potential fatal carbon monoxide situation. These failures were discovered by Bryan when he came to clean our chimney and repair our hearth. Fortunately, we did not suffer injuries. Bryan provided photographic evidence of the improper work done in 2011 and we reported this incompetence to the Maryland authorities. In the past seven months Bethesda Chimney has provided excellent and very professional services to bring our home to a safe and secure fireplace - flue standard. The crews are efficient, polite, thorough and prompt. They clean up any debris and leave the work area neat and tidy -- Shipshape, as we say in the Navy. Even though they were really busy with existing projects, they were able to quickly and competently assess what was wrong and come up with a timely solution. They also fit us into their schedule as soon as the custom part for our fireplace chimney was made, even though it was clear they had a full plate already. Installed and cleaned up without a trace, and had before/after photos to show me how it all turned out. Bethesda Chimney did an excellent job. Brian began with inspecting my chimney flues and providing a very detailed explanation of what needed to be done. Although my deteriorating chimney flues were in very bad shape, he didnt respond with the shock and awe as the other two chimney companies had. Instead, he explained exactly what the situation was with my chimney flues, which probably hadnt been serviced since the house was built in 1937. His team of two came in and cleaned, removed existing tile and debris, and installed stainless steel linings for all three flues; they removed existing and deteriorated mortar crown and replaced it with a Portland based Mortar Crown; they did some pointing and other necessary repairs in order to fully service all three chimney flues. The men were professional and knew exactly what they had to do. They were patient with me, explaining exactly what they were doing as I followed them around, with binoculers, as I peered up at the roof and watched them place the stainless steel liners. It appears to be quite a labor intense job. This is day 3, their last day on the job. As I observe them finishing up, I can say that I am quite pleased with what they have done. I would definitely hire them again!! By the way, the quality of work is excellent, however, the price estimate was pretty good as well, and I went with three estimates. As stated, Id hire them again. (Watch out Winst@ns!!!!!)

It took such a long time (more than four weeks after the visit) to receive a quote, and when I finally received it, it did not address all the scope I had requested. Very disappointing.Update Feb 8: The owner mentioned I was not there to meet with him, but the truth is, I called several times BEFORE the appointment explaining I wouldnt be able to attend and coordinating with the tenant at my residence who WAS ON SITE to meet with his team. I never promised to be there as I reside in a different state.I literally called the office three or four times after the visit, without any call back. Of course I wasnt comfortable contracting a service from a company that cant even keep me updated and in the loop on the status of a quote.

Great service from start to finish! Dont let the name fool you! They do more than chimneys. Our kitchen ceiling was leaking. We thought we had a backed-up/clogged gutter after a lot of rain. We couldnt find any gutter companies to help us on short notice. Turns out it wasnt a gutter at all but a slow-dripping pipe in the kitchen ceiling - below an upstairs bathroom. The two-man team showed up as promised. They ruled out the gutter as the source of the leak. While up on the roof, they spotted a hole and some missing shingles, fixed it and quickly determined the problem was elsewhere INSIDE the house. They cut out parts of the water-damaged ceiling. Efficient, methodical, minimal debris. They found and repaired the leaking pipe (even taking photos with an iPhone), patched the ceiling and repainted it. Looks like new. 48 hours from start to finish. And yes, the price was reasonable, given all the work that was done. You dont have to have a chimney problem to get great service from Bethesda Chimney.
