Highly recommend Advanced Chimney Sweeps. I started calling around on a Saturday in February for a chimney repair. Advanced Chimney was one of the few places to actually return my phone call on the weekend. Mike answered my questions and said that they would get something scheduled. Again, this was winter in Pittsburgh. As soon as the weather allowed, we were put on the schedule immediately, and the repair was done in a professional and timely manner. Scheduling and communications done via text message, so you are always kept in the loop. Invoice provided via email to have proof of work. Will definitely be calling them for any future work needed.

Ive used many chimney sweeps in the 25 yrs. Ive owned my home and Advance Chimney was by far the best! Very prompt, courteous service. Exceptionally neat...covered the ivory rug in my living room. Very detailed, expert evaluation of two chimneys. Gave me the information I needed to remedy a few issued found. I would definitely use them again and absolutely recommend them.

Advance Chimney Sweep was honest and dependable. We called for a clean (it has not been cleaned for years) and they did not want to waste our time or money. They did a quick evaluation and thought a cleaning would not do the job. We are currently in the process of treating it prepping for a yearly clean. So far we are very pleased with how friendly and dependable the staff is!

The chimney had not been inspected, swept, or used since 1981. Jim from Advance Chimney Sweeps came to the house to inspect and sweep the chimney so we could start enjoying our fireplaces. He was very thorough, honest, and personable. The chimney did not need swept as it had only been used maybe two or three times in 1979-1980. He inspected the inside and out. His explanation was very easy to follow. I would recommend Advance Chimney Sweeps to everyone I know.

This was the second time we used Advanced Chimney. They were always on time and kept us in the loop with their arrival time by calling ahead. The first time we used them was for an inspection/cleaning and the second time to refurbish the fire box as the mortar was almost non-existed. Both times they did a wonderful job and I was very impressed how they left the house. You could not tell that a chimney sweep was in the house as they left it as clean as they found it before.They did quality work both time and we are not confident again to enjoy our fireplace.

Had a very pleasant and thorough chimney inspection and cleaning from Advance Chimney Sweeps last week. We not only ended up with a clean chimney for the season -- and our floors remained clean due to the plastic coverings laid down by the Advance associate -- but had an inspection that will get us on the road for a chimney that is safe and to used for years to come. Tip: They have a coupon running that is received in the mail in some Pittsburgh neighborhoods; if youre in a neighborhood that receives it, youll save on the cleaning and future work.

I would highly recommend Advance Chimney. In the last three weeks they have conducted both standard chimney cleanings for us as well as a major repair project. We were very happy with their work on both projections and the technicians were courteous and professional throughout. I would highly recommend Advance Chimney. They called to inform me both times I had appointments that they would be early. They were very polite and covered my floor and rugs with plastic to protect them from getting dirty. They accepted coupons for the cleaning and inspection as well as the follow up work that needed to be completed. After the discount the price was reasonable for the work done and piece of mind especially since they offer warranties on their products/services.

These guys at Advance Chimney give very good service at reasonable prices. I have been working with them for some time now for a house that I rent out and they are very responsive on both phone and email, courteous, always on time and do a great job. So even though I am interfacing with them remotely from a different city, I have always received the best service and my renters have always been happy with them. They also suggested good and cheap solutions to some problems I was having with my chimney but did not put undue pressure for me to take up that solution.

Advanced Chimney Sweeps has cleaned our chimney three times in the past five years. This company is reliable, honest, and efficient. After a wind storm a few weeks ago, the chimney cap became detached from our chimney. Ironically, Advanced Chimney Sweeps called to schedule the chimney cleaning for this summer so we could save $80.00. I mentioned that the chimney cap was detached, and we scheduled an appointment for the sweeps to evaluate the situation. Two sweeps efficiently repaired the cap on a very windy day. I highly recommend this company for your chimney up-kept. The sweeps are friendly, mannerly, and professional.

The technicians arrived 30 minutes past the 1 hour arrival window I was given. Overall, they did a satisfactory job with the cleaning. There was zero mess left behind which is great. The technicians also took a few minutes to explain what they did and saw to me. They were extremely quick and were done and gone in 50 minutes.

Hadnt had our fireplace serviced in about 10 yrs and wanted to use it Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Was able to get an appointment Dec 23 and they even called to reschedule it earlier in the day! Had my chimney cleaned by Advance Chimney Sweeps in early September. The 2 man crew was very professional and polite. They covered everything with plastic so there was no mess. I considered doing it myself, but the investment in equipment would have been much more than I paid to have them clean it. I had my fireplace/chimney cleaned on December 21st, a busy time of year for the team at Advance. Kevin, the service tech, was running late and called me an hour before my appointment to tell me he would be late, despite the fact he had a 2 hour window to arrive. He got right to work when he arrived and was very thorough. Kevin was also very personable and professional. He finished his work in the time stated and cleaned up everything. We recently had our fireplace inspected to find out that the crown and our chimney are cracked needed costly repairs.The men inspecting our chimney were friendly and knowledgeable.When presenting me with the estimate they were able to explain how they arrived at the cost.We are scheduled to have the repair i a few weeks and I am sure the work will be done to our expectations.I would highly recommend Advance Chimney Sweeps to anyone needing fireplace or chimney work.

This is the 2nd time we have used Advanced Chimney Sweeps. The first time was just an inspection/cleaning. We then received and offer for 20% off the quote we received in 2016. They came back and did the repairs and gave us 20% off the original quote. They actually were able to come early and they were quick and clean. Would definitely recommend this company!

We scheduled weeks earlier for Advance Chimney to come and reline our fireplace on Nov. 8th. They called on Nov. 7 and said they were running a day behind and couldnt do it the next day. We rescheduled for Nov. 15 at 7:00 am. We were told the job would take all day, up to 12 hours. It is a very expensive chimney repair so we expected a very long day. On Nov. 15 they didnt arrive at 7:00. At 8:00am we got a call that they wouldnt be here until 9:30 because they had to get parts. We expected that they would have had the parts since the job had been scheduled for weeks. Anyway, the two technicians arrived at 9:30. They were friendly and took care to put down plastic and drop cloths. The actual job seems to have been done well. Weve used our fireplace once since the work was done and it works fine. However, we have a lock-top type damper, and we noticed when we went to use the fireplace that the chain and handle which hang down isnt long enough now. The handle doesnt hook into the bracket at the right place. Also, the job only took 3 1/2 hours, not 12. Not a problem except that when we signed the contract we were told that it was an all-day job. Charging over $2000 for a job that took 3 1/2 hours seems excessive.UPDATE: 12/20/16 Michael contacted us about our review and the issues we had. He apologized and had his guys come out and fix the damper chain. They put on a new chain at no charge. Michael was very interested in making things right with us. We were very satisfied with how he handled it, and we would definitely work with Advanced again.

Advanced installed a liner system for me a few years ago, and it had some problems. The came out right away and fixed it at no charge. They back up their work. They have been to my house yearly since to clean the chimney, and have always been professional, polite and efficient. They cover their work area with plastic so everything stays clean. Advance Chimney Sweeps offered a 20% discount off of a chimney liner. They were available to come early, communicated when they would arrive, and finished the job quickly with no mess (they had move water heater to different flu and patch the old openingn). They did a great job!

I just bought a new house and needed someone to come check the chimney out and tell me what I needed to do to get it ready for use. ACS did just that in a timely and efficient manner. They also quoted me on exactly what needed done. I enjoyed the service so much that I contracted them to fix what they found was wrong.

I called Advanced Chimney Sweeps to come and inspect and clean my fireplace and flue. They arrived on time, explained everything that would be done, and asked if I had any concerns or areas that I wanted them to look at. They spread out tarps to make sure that the dust and dirt would not be spread around the house. They wore plastic on their feet while in my house to protect from tracking dirt from the outside into my house. Through out the process. they explained each step and anything they found, everything ok, or anything that needed attention. They went onto my roof and inspected the flue cap and metal cover, for security, and if there were any cracks that were there were water might seep through. They even took pictures to show me the condition of the cap and sheet metal, which I really appreciated. I have had other cleaning companies come to clean my fireplace, but none have come close to the performance and workmanship and courtesy I received from Advance Chimney Sweeps. I would definitely recommend them if you want peace of mind when using your fireplace.

The guys were very courteous and clearly explained their inspection results. They were very careful to ensure our carpet was protected. This company also very veteran friendly. I will definitely recommend to others.

Multiple calls/emails from the company to confirm the appointment. They arrived within 1 hour of the scheduled time slot (scheduled 8:45 am, arrived 9:30). I had them do an inspection and sweep. Inspection showed missing mortar and cracked crown. They recommended a parge coating for the mortar and a crown replacement providing quotes for both. I was curious about a gas fireplace and they gave me a quote for install.The total quotes seemed high, but the sweep/inspection was a good price for what was performed.

We have used several other companies over the years and are so glad we now used Advanced Chimney Sweep for our recent cleaning and inspection. The tech called on his way to let us know his ETA. He put down plastic to keep everything clean, completed the work and took time to answer our questions, and explained why some of the information we had received from prior companies was not accurate.

This was my first experience with any chimney sweep company. Advanced Chimney did a great job of explaining the installation of our chimney components and identifying areas needing future attention. I would recommend them to anyone in need of chimney service and I plan to use them again for future service.

The first visit by these guys they came to do a cleaning and inspection of my chimney and were on time and did a great job and gave us great info. We scheduled them to come back to repair parts of the chimney and install a top mounted damper. The day we were scheduled for them to come, the fiance took time off of work for them. They were scheduled to be at my house between 3-4. Around 4 PM, they call and say that they have to cancel because they have the wrong damper. So we reschedule for a few weeks out. Same time, between 3-4. Again, the fiance takes time off of work to be there for them. By 4:15 no one had showed up. I called to see what was up and they claimed that their computer system was down and they couldnt get my number to call me and let me know that there was a gas leak by their warehouse and they couldnt get the materials for my repair. I know that they had my number on paper and you dont need a computer to look that up, so I called BS on that. By now my fiance was pissed because she was using her personal time to take off of work to wait for these guys who kept cancelling on us. If you cancel on them, theres a $99 fee, but if they cancel on you, then screw you. You dont get to charge them $99. We decided to give them one more shot. Again, we rescheduled for a few weeks out between 4-5 this time (Im starting to sound like a broken record here) and I told her that if they cancelled again, I was going to tell them to go pound salt. Again, she took time off of work to be there for them. I got a call that day from the tech saying he could be there at 12:30. I told him this wouldnt work and that is why we scheduled for between 4 and 5. My fiance works from home, but her schedule isnt flexible so she couldnt move her time off up to 12:30. She texts me at 3:15 saying that the guys are there and ringing our doorbell when I specifically told them no one would be available until 4. She tells me that he rang the doorbell several times and kept ringing it. She finally went to the door because he wouldnt stop ringing it. He said that since he saw a car in the driveway he figured someone was home. She was kind enough to let him in but told him they couldnt make any noise until 4 because she answers phones from home and cant have any noise in the background. She didnt have any other complaints about them, so I guess they finally listened. I was uninformed that payment would be required at the time of service (I thought they would leave me with a bill that I could mail in with a check) because they finished before I got home from work and I got a call from the fiance saying that they wanted paid and we werent prepared for that, but they then told her that I could phone in my credit card and pay that way. They were gone before I got home and the work they did looks ok. Well see how it holds up once I start burning.In short, unless I get some kind of stellar deal from these guys in the future, Im going elsewhere for my chimney cleaning and repair. They were too unreliable for me.I must say though, Brittany is very pleasant to deal with on the phone and does a great job.UPDATE 11/23/16: I was personally contacted by Michael, the business owner, and he apologized for my results. This shows what kind of person he is and that he really cares about his business and he is passionate about what he does. Because of this, I will be contacting Advance Chimney in the future for cleanings.

UPDATE: the owner called me and wanted to do whatever it takes to make sure Im happy. He offered to make the entire service call free. I said that wasnt necessary - all I really wanted was to know they would be changing their policies so they dont automatically overcharge future customers when such a little amount of work is necessary. He assured me these changes would take place and still insisted on making the visit free (and I did get the $158 back), thus my changing the star rating from 3 to 4. I would do business with them again.ORIGINAL REVIEW: The two guys definitely knew what they were doing, were prompt, and friendly. I was fascinated by the unfamiliar world of chimney work, so I hung out in the family room to watch them. One of the guys worked while the other more knowledgeable guy just stood there and talked to me for the entire time, and before they ever told me what the price would be, I kept getting the vibe that he was trying to preemptively explain why their prices were so high. He kept saying Im really paying for the paperwork, that he was one of only three guys in the area with some kind of special certification to override what regular home inspectors say about chimneys, and that Im paying for peace of mind. I kept thinking that he was explaining to me why I was apparently just about to pay for his knowledge/certifications rather than actual work done. It was really just a one man job, and sure enough, only 30 minutes after pulling into my driveway and performing some extremely light work (and one guy essentially not working at all), they had me sign a bill for $250. Assuming it took them a whole 30 minutes to drive to my house, this would work out to a cost of around $250 per hour. I was about to pay with a credit card, but he told me the office would call me. When a woman from the company called and asked me for my credit card number, I told her that I understand the guys were probably only following company policy, etc., but the price was absolutely insane. She asked me what they did while they were here, and I explained they just spent 20-30 minutes looking at how clean and unused my chimney was, and vacuumed the ashes out of the fireplace, and that was supposed to be $250. She said that since I was nice and respectful about it, she would drop the price to $158. Even that is hard to swallow, but at least its something, and its because she dropped the price that I am giving 3 stars instead of 2. (Also because Im not sure if this is how all of the chimney inspection companies are, or if its just them.)

Service (chimney sweep) was quick and painless. Technician advised on other possible services and was polite and efficient.

We would absolutely recommend Advance Chimney Sweeps time and again. They were on time every time. They were professional and thorough and the price was more than reasonable. We will be using them for our fireplace needs for the future.

We have the final treatment yet to go, but so far the workmen have been very conscientious about cleanliness and have provided detailed descriptions of what they are doing and why. I anticipate that the messy part of the treatment -- using the whip to break up the creosote will be completed to my satisfaction.

My chimney was so caked with creosote that I was afraid to use it and I thought it would never come clean! But the guys from advance gave it 2 chemical treatments then used a rotary scrubber to clean it and now it looks brand new and works even better than before! THANKS!!!!!!
