I went on two trips last week one on the El Dorado and the other out of Half Moon Bay, Two totally different trips with different mind sets, Half Moon Pete was strict to covid and Eldo had none no masks no real policy, Capt and crew all maskless smoking cigarettes as was most of the guests... Sure we got the crab and you cant beat going through the gate but take the virus serious and obey the laws. HMB was extremely serious and it was welcomed but no Golden Gate

To start from the beginning me and my buddy booked a 6:00 a.m. leave time trip for my birthday on the El Dorado 3 which is owned or ran by Berkeley charter boats for a rock cod fishing at the farollon islands. We booked it online at the Berkeley charter boat website and it clearly stated it was $150 per person and $10 for a pole rental and $10 for tackle so we agreed to the and paid for it online. The next morning we showed up at 5:30 a.m. and they tell us the price is actually $200 plus $30 for a fishing pole and tackle. They said if we did not pay the extra money that they would not refund our money if we left that we would be out over $300. So reluctantly we paid the extra money. We ended up leaving the docks closer to 6:30am for what reason I dont know we were getting a late start. We drove into San Francisco Pier to get bait then we got out of line and went to the fueling stations. I have been on a ton of charter boats and I have never stopped to fill up they always do that the night before this took another half hour out of our morning as they needed 600 gallons of fuel then we got back in line to get bait that took another 15 minutes. At this point its 7:15am and the suns been out for almost an hour now. The captain decided not to go to our original destination for rock cod and instead decided to go halibut fishing in the bay. This really irritated me as I have my own boat and fish regularly in the bay for halibut. I was looking forward to going out into the ocean to get some rock cod. To make matters worse they put me and my buddy next to each other which we wanted but we basically shared one space because the captain kept his own personal fishing pole in the spot next to us. Now I mainly go out with Captain Tim at all aboard adventures in fort Bragg and Captain Tim has personally moved his fishing pole for me so I could have a spot to fish on his boat since Im a paying customer. I guess Im just spoiled have been on Captain Tims about the last 20 times I went fishing in the ocean on charter boat. I have never seen such unprofessional staff captain and everything just in general they gouge you at every chance they get and they didnt deliver only a couple of people caught fish pretty much got duped out of our money and let me tell you I will never go out on any charter boat in Berkeley ever again let alone Berkeley charter boats or any of the El Dorado boats. I highly recommend making the extra drive over to Fort Bragg to go see Captain Tim at all board adventures youll have a ten times better time they are professional and you will catch fish left and right I guarantee it. I personally dont know how Berkeley charter boats is even in business the way they treat their customers.

Just as solid as they come from the New Easy Rider with Capt Joey to Capt Robert/Shawn on the El Dorado you cant go wrong especially with all the current and accurate information they have to run the best gear, tackle and flasher/no-flasher whatever you need to stick fish!

Tried to go fishing on the eldorado yesterday. We paid 400.00 to be told i couldnt use my flasher. The crew on this boat thinks there is only one way to fish for salmon. I have caught alot of salmon ! Been fishing 50 years , my dad was a commercial fisherman. Great boat ride. The captain said over the loud speaker , take that flasher off its why no one is getting bit. You are an idiot ! Is jd your son ? He has alot to learn as well.
