I used Tinka Construction for a major remodel I did of my kitchen and bathroom last year (as well as painting, new electrical, and refinished wood floors). George was friendly and and professional throughout the process and the work he delivered was reasonably priced and well executed. I have to say that it was probably a bigger job then anticipated. My home is very old and hadnt had a major remodel in 40 years or so. We had a lot of expectations and were fairly picky about the how the job got done. George was great and worked with us throughout the whole project to get us the kitchen and bathroom remodel of our dreams!

George Catalin is a great contractor and a good man, skilled where it counts and it shows in the results of his work.When hardly any other contractors would even respond to my emails as we looked for bids to remodel three of our bathrooms, George responded immediately and let me know his availability, even though it wasnt for a few months.After that time, he was more than happy to listen to everything we had envisioned in the remodel and respectfully put in input based on his knowledge and expertise. He was honest every step of the way and leveled with me even if it wasnt necessarily to his advantage. That type of personality is invaluable to us when dealing with important and personal work in our home.George and his team were flexible when needed and courteous when in our home. George, Oni, Omar and the rest of the team were a pleasure to see during the project, and were happy to oblige when we needed some extra odds and ends done in our projects that weren’t listed in our original contract. They had no reservations when asked to work later in the day or come back the next day to finish one of the stages a little earlier than planned in order to better fit our schedule.I would recommend Tinka Construction and George to anyone who is looking for a general contractor who is knowledgeable, honest, skilled and, simply put, has left us very satisfied with how our projects have turned out. I bought a new home and I didnt hesitate to contact George again to remodel my whole condo this time. In less than 3 months he was able to finish everything, which includes a new kitchen and living room, 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, one laundry room and one walk-in closet. The estimation I got from other contractors was more than double the time!George was very nice to help with getting the San Francisco permits and all the materials I needed to buy. This was my first time doing such a major work and he was there at every step consulting and helping with everything.My new home was a complete disaster so it was needed to do everything from scratch, all the plumbing and electrical. I still cant believe he was able to finish everything so fast!Everything is looking so gorgeous now and Im getting so many compliments!

Tinka Construction remodeled our bathroom, and did a great job. George was really helpful in suggesting places to get tiles, and other accessories needed. He also had good suggestions about finishing touches. They showed up on time and finished the job in a timely manner.

I am the de-facto property manager for a friends home. Its a beautiful place, but has needed some upgrades from its mid-century construction. Georges work is beautiful. In fact, my neighbor has hired George to renovate her bathrooms, and he is installing a beautiful deck in her back yard. People have been impressed with how the bathrooms turned out in my place, and Ive had a stream of neighbors ask if they could please come see my bathrooms, and get Georges number.George was thoughtful, responsive, and kind. This may not be the first thing you want in a contractor, but for me, it is essential! Being without my bathroom for a few months was stressful enough. The last thing I wanted was some guy coming in here and mansplaining at me. In fact, I immediately disqualified one GC because he didnt listen to me, and kept interrupting me when I was speaking. If someones going to be in my home, if Im going to have to give them a key, I need to be confident they value our relationship. George does.As George is still working next door, hes helped us out with some emergencies, too. I value my relationship with him and look forward to contracting him for more work. Hire him!

I used Tinka to replace some exterior trim, a door, and paint the outside of my house. They came in with the lowest quote. The only extra that I paid was for items that I added on later. They were very thorough in the prep - filling cracks and holes, cleaning, scraping loose paint, etc. Everything was done very nicely. My house looks so good now. George and his guys were very nice and easy to work with. I would definitely use Tinka again and would recommend them.

We couldnt be more pleased with the results of our bathroom remodel with Tinka Construction. The people George brought in were friendly, professional, and did excellent work. We mostly designed it ourselves, and tweaked a few things with their expert advice. They werent pushy in the advice, just speaking from experience, and listening to them paid off. George is very chill, and ultimately the work he accomplished left us with a gorgeous space. We might just hang out in there all quarantine.

I highly recommend Tinka Construction. George was pleasant and easy to deal with and his workers were very professional too.The contract was to install new siding. Dry rots and termites were discovered when the old ones were removed that require some new stud and frame replacement. Both windows had to be taken out and installed back. The internal drywall was torn down due to water damage. Garage door frame was also replaced. Everything came out beautiful when it was all done.

I chose Tinka on the basis of the beautiful work George Catalin did remodeling a neighbors bathroom. What a good decision! George remodeled a bathroom, built a tiled patio requiring some excavation,incorporated an Ikea glass-doored cabinet in place of a 1960s sliding door type clothes closet such that it is totally built-in, and fixed all the small annoyances throughout the house, such as crooked toilet rollholders, stiff sliding doors.George listened carefully to what I wanted and made suggestions to improve my choices. For example, the direction of the tiles and the type of edging. Without his suggestions, my house would look vastly improved, but his suggestions made it stunning.He patiently changed course every time I changed my mind, which was often. The fact that I did not keep pace with consequent changes in cost was my fault as I was not paying attention to this.He has the best subcontractors available. For example, I had given up on finding wood flooring to match our old floors when I made an addition. They all told me that it is no longer available. George brought in a wood floor expert who matched the floor exactly. Also, his carpet person pieced together our no-pile type wool carpet seamlessly, which is virtually impossible.As with all home remodeling work, it is best to watch the progress carefully so that you are sure that what you asked for is interpreted correctly. This saves on redos.

We hired George/Tinka construction to complete a shower. The area had dry wall, a shower bed & pipes behind a wall but no tile or water sealer. George is completely professional, friendly, and a pleasure to work with. He has a team of guys that show up on time, clean up after themselves & do beautiful work.The plumber, tile guys, & electrician were all skilled & cheerful. I drew crazy diagrams for my tile placement & they followed my plan completely.I highly recommend Tinka. We are very happy with the job & now have a beautiful shower with a whisper quiet fan & a Grohe rain shower with spray nozzle. Recommended by George & spot on.

George and his team helped us with a down to the studs renovation of a full bath and few other projects in our Edwardian condo in San Francisco.From procuring city permits, demo, and the remodel work Georges team did an amazing job of creating a fabulous modern bathroom. They also helped us with removing the gas pipes in the ceiling (which is normal for homes in San Francisco) and install new lighting fixtures and few other small projects.George is creative in solving problems along the way and takes full ownership of the work. He helped us buy materials and was very patient in working through this project. George is very approachable and fun to work with. After purchasing the house, I needed to remodel my kitchen and dining area, and Tinka construction with George gave us a very competitive price with even better ideas how we should do it than we had in mind. He and his team was so attentive to each request and working so professionally. Before doing something George will always run the changes to us for our approval! With the little space for dining area that was available, they made it look so big and spacious with just turning a window into a sliding doors that was going to our porch! George and his crew of plumbers, electricians, glass and window experts did a great job on our bathroom remodel. We had a fairly extensive remodel (6 weeks in total), where all the plumbing and electrical was changed around in order to accommodate a tub and double vanity (where we orig. had just a single sink and shower stall). George was on top of pulling City permits and scheduling all of the inspections.My wife and I had 3 contractors bid on the project and felt that George had the most reasonable price and also responded in the most timely manner. The project was never left sitting; there was someone working on the bathroom in some way every single day. That was important to me as I know some contractors are so busy they will leave smaller projects hanging. He also went above and beyond the scope by making sure the floors were level and adding a niche to the shower wall without charging us extra for it. He clearly cares about his work.George and crew also came back a couple months later to remedy some small unforeseen issues that arose after the bathroom remodel. Professionalism much appreciated!

George Catalin and his crew at Tinka Construction saved our bathroom renovation!We started the upstairs bathroom renovation summer of 2019 with a different contractor who was referred to us by a friend. We trusted this person who took our money and didnt deliver. He was using our bathroom as his first bathroom renovation.After months of a gutted non-functioning bathroom, we fired Vic and got estimates from several contractors to remodel the existing bathtub setup to a new modern bathroom containing a shower with floor to ceiling tiles, glass enclosed doors, modern fixtures, tile on one side of bathroom wall, tile flooring, new window, new door, new canned lights, paint, install vanity, etc.The contractor estimates were all over the board ranging from $10K to $35K and some of them didnt know what they were doing judging by what was said and written during the estimate process.We chose George and Tinka Construction because he was honest,professional, on time, pleasant, easy going, provided an estimate that was fair (not too cheap and not too expensive).George was the only contractor that suggested changing the shower head and faucet to the other end of the wall since the current placement was under a window and could not be raised higher to accommodate the new shower head. George also stated there was a need for a new electric panel for the additional canned lights per legal requirements.Tinka Construction provided a written contract detailing the bathroom renovation tasks and costs with a payment schedule prior to start of the remodeling.We were willing to wait until the new year 2020 when George and his crew at Tinka Construction were available to do the bathroom remodel that started in mid-February 2020.The remodel was going well until COVID-19. Then remodeling and everything stopped. We had to wait for completion with final inspection in June 2020.Throughout this long drawn out process, we have appreciatedGeorges honesty, advice (given nicely and never pushy), knowledge, professionalism, timeliness, attention to details, and craftsmanship. George kept to the renovation schedule as best as he could under COVID-19 conditions.Now the bathroom is stunning. I recently relocated from the East Coast to San Francisco and a friend of mine recommend George for some renovations in my condo.When I contacted him he got back to me right away and scheduled a time to see my new place.George knocked down a wall in the master bedroom, repainted everything and changed the baseboards. George came by to put a wall up in my home. It was complicated since there was an arch at the top (and it was previously a doorway to another room).He and his team finished the job extremely quickly! It only took 3 hours one morning (while I worked from home) and it was a wonderful job. The wall looks great. George had pre-cut the pieces and everything was ready to go.George is super nice and friendly, and was really direct in explaining what they needed to do. He also asked me exactly what kind of wall I wanted (and if I wanted it to be painted, etc) and was great at providing advice.I would definitely work with them again!!!
