Aside from routine cleaning, Dr. Berkeypile recently fixed my cracked front tooth. It was cracked badly from an impact by a wrench. He assessed the damage, and we decided to go with a cap. Although it was a time consuming process, Im convinced I couldnt have gotten a better end result anywhere else. He is very tedious, and holds his work to a high standard.

We had an emergency and Dr. Berkeypile was wonderful! He stayed open late for us and provided exceptional service!! Couldn’t have asked for a better dental experience!! UPDATE : Well, after being seriously sick for 5 days now, I suddenly found myself with severe tooth pain - think: it hurts to talk, drink water, eat, it hurts just breathing kind of sudden pain, because just being sick wasnt good enough. I called Dr Berkeypile this evening, (Friday night) thinking Id get an appointment fo next week--but to my surprise, he stayed open, waited for me, and insisted on helping me tonight so I could have a pain free weekend. I cant say it enough-- Dr Berkeypile has such a smooth kindness about him, he just exudes comfort and genuine care, explains everything in detail as he goes, and hes just so reassuring that everything can be fixed that I forget that I used to be terrified of dentists. I have been Dr. James Berkypile’s patient for very many years—perhaps his OLDEST patient, both in years of service and in age (Almost 91).I love eating crispy food and do so daily, despite Dr. B’s warnings (I especially love chicken bones and eat them daily). Nevertheless, I have NO DENTURES and do not really know which of my teeth are my own, which is a cap and which is a replaced tooth. AMAZING!!What greater recommendations can I give for Dr. B. I have been a patient for almost twenty years. There is no other dentist I trust to work on my teeth. Dr. Berkeypile is the best dentist I have every used. I originally found him when I was new to the area and experiencing tremendous pain. He saw me right away and was quick to put me out of pain. I recently went to Dr. Berkeypiles office as a new patient. I went there initially for a teeth cleaning and x-rays. I was very impressed by the thorough job Dr. B performed. My teeth have never been so clean!! He also uses high tech equipment to explain and show you what is going on in your mouth. The ONLY dentist I recommend in NJ! Id been a patient of Dr. Berkeypiles since my family moved to Berkeley Heights in 1988. Due to an insurance change, I had to leave the practice for a couple years. One of the biggest regrets of my life. The other guy DESTROYED 2 teeth -- one couldnt be saved and had to be pulled; the other turned into an extensive root canal. Thankfully, my insurance upgraded again and I was able to go back to Dr. B. I will NEVER let anyone else touch my mouth again. EVER!Dr. B. does the most extensive cleaning and oral exam. He educates you on exactly what is going on with your teeth. I went in complaining of a molar ache. He could have easily told me I needed a procedure worth thousands of dollars, just to make a quick buck. Instead, he took digital x-rays and showed me exactly what was going on in my mouth -- right there on the screen. He relieved the bite and said if I was still in pain, to come back. Hed remove the old filling and see if there is a crack underneath. A root canal would be our very last resort. Thankfully!His Office Manager/Assistant, Delia is one of the sweetest and most friendly ladies Ive ever met. She makes the entire experience warm and inviting. If you need a dentist in Berkeley Heights, I highly recommend Dr. Berkeypile.

I came to Dr. Berkeypiles office 5 years ago when looking to have a tooth fixed. I have since remained with his office and couldnt be happier with my results. His kindness and precision have not only prompted me to continue with his office, but my 6 year old daughter is now his patient too. He takes the time and care to answer any of your questions and inform you of any upcoming needed work. Dr. Berkeypile is the best dentist that I have ever seen and continues to stay on top of new and upcoming technology. Finally, after quite some time looking for a GREAT dentist (and having been to some not so good ones…), I feel I have found the right one! I came to him with a different number of issues and he has provided a comprehensive solution to each of them. He removed some old fillings, corrected cracks and filled them in such a beautiful way that it seems as if it was the real thing. Not even once I have had to go back with an issue. To complement it, the dental care is done together with the most advance media technology that allows the patient to be involved with the treatment at all times (high-def cameras). I can’t say how relieved I am to have him around in my neighbourhood looking after me and my family. My dental visit was for a routine cleaning and checkup. Appointment was on schedule and Dr. Berkeypile was courteous and concerned for my oral care. Covid concerns were addressed within the office and in the process taken to perform todays cleaning. The cleaning was thorough and took what was a normal amount of time historically for my specific needs. There was a usual post cleaning discussion to address future oral care needs. I have trust in Jersey Smile dentistry. They have been my dental care provider for a long time.

I recently tried the KoR Whitening system which I really like. If you are looking for a local dentist who can provide highest quality of service, in a clean and quiet setting and who will recognize you and know your name if accidentally runs into you on the street, then look no further.This is a one-doc office where Dr. Berkeypile takes care of business more or less on his own. Unlike a typical busy dentists office, he’s likely to answer the phone himself and schedule your next visit himself. And that’s not to say he doesn’t have assistants - he does, but he still runs the office and the assistants do what they are supposed to - assist without taking over. And did I mention that my typical waiting time between arrival in office and proceeding to the operating room is about 2 minutes?Doc is as experienced as they come and uses all the latest tech: xrays are sent to a flat screen in front of the patient’s chair as soon as he takes them, and so are regular photos; laser cavity depth detectors, rubber dams, to name a few.The experience comes through in his rational assessment of his own expertise and if you require help beyond the realms of general dentistry or orthodontics, he will refer you to a proper professional, e.g. an oral surgeon, and not risk your health attempting a procedure himself, just to make a buck or out of sheer vanity.Doc’s advice is never imposing. The way he’d explain it will never make you feel threatened or dumb, even if the issue at hand is a no-brainer to him. Simply the best.Let me say that I have had had horrible experiences with dentists for 30+ years. I went to Dr. Berkeypile for an evaluation and to discuss treatment options. I have been there 3 times in the past few months and he has taken special care to attend to my apprehension. He makes the experience almost pleasant. He has a device for applying anesthesia called the wand. It applies anesthesia without needles. WITHOUT NEEDLES!! Just last night I had 2 teeth filled and bonded and my smile has never looked better. I am smiling for the first time in 30 years. Both because my smile looks better than ever and Dr. Berkeypile makes me so comfortable with dental work.

I have had several terrifying, unpleasant experiences with a different dentist that made me terrified to go back. While my wife and I were vacationing my lower denture broke. Dr Berkypile was kind enough to accommodate my needs the very nextday even though I was not a usual patient. I was taken care of with no wait and treated with the utmost courtesy and care. The complicated repair to my denture (more than three hours) was accomplished in the office. It is strong but still cosmetically attractive. My regular dentist at home was very impressed with the quality and workmanship of the repair. He informed me that the time and cost that their office would need to charge would be substantially greater than that which I paid Dr Berkypile to accomplish the repair. Finally, Dr Berkypile was professional and personable and gentle. I highly recommend this dentist.

Ive been going to Dr. Berkeypile for years and will never go to anyone else due to the simple fact that he is wonderful at his craft. I have always felt right at home in his office and leave feeling well taken care of. My most recent experience is what prompted me to write this review after all this time. Ive suffered from extreme sensitivity to cold, which severely impacted my ability to drink water comfortably. Even something as simple as using mouth wash or eating ice cream was unpleasant for me. Daily activities became a painful nuisance. Upon seeing Dr. Berkeypile, he discovered that I had exposed roots in certain areas from brushing too hard on my gums over the years. In addition to showing me the proper techniques to avoid further damage, he was able to seal those areas for me (about 5 or 6 spots) with a quick and painless bond that lasts a few years, and has worked wonders for me. I no longer feel any pain when I drink water or have anything cold. What a relief!! Also, at that same appointment I had to get a filling for a cavity, which I know most people dont exactly look forward to. Dr B made this process so simple and absolutely painless through the use of a wand, rather than the traditional novocaine administered with a needle. The wand simply numbs the area where the cavity is, at the root, so you do not experience any pain, needles or the awkward numbing of your entire face. This completely transformed my experience at the dentist! I highly recommend Dr Berkeypile as he truly cares about his patients and wants them all to have a positive experience! Thank you Dr B!

For years I’ve wanted to do something about my smile and just never have. I’ve always been “uncomfortable” in social situations or smiling for photos. It got to the point that I would even cover my mouth when laughing or speaking to people. I was actually ashamed of how I looked.
