I got great service from start to finish.Carol and Eric helped me out getting a wiring harness installed while I was in town on a road trip. The van had been held at Ford for a month and a half before I left while they waited on a part so I didnt get the chance to do it before I left. I knew it was short notice and I had a small window of time that I would be in town. They didnt give me any issues!I got the impression that Eric came in on his day off to help me out with this but he was completely cool about it and if it had messed with his plans at all he didnt show it. Both were friendly and helpful the whole time I was there.I really feel blessed that this got done today so I can pick up my custom trailer in a few days.
Rented a 20ft from here. Got it about 7pm right when they closed. The guy who helped us put set us up with a truck that was about 15ft behind two other trucks, and our truck was also parked less than 2 feet from the truck next to ours. Paid 130+ down to not even be able to pull the truck out. They told us the damn thing was upfront but I had to walk around the whole place just to find my key number matching the truck. Not a trustworthy place to go too for sure. I wont recommend anyome coming here.
Dishonest store. Made an appointment for a hitch install, and we had to wait 30 minutes before anyone came. I heard the front office worker telling the installer that I had an appointment that he missed. After the install was over and they told us we could leave, I checked the install and they had left the bottom plastic fascia off. That’s not something you can miss, so couldn’t be anything but intentional. They were trying to shortcut the job and thought I would not care? I made them put it back on, and I’m hoping they kept all the screws and fasteners. Can’t recommend this place to anyone other than someone looking for boxes. Shady.
How about you all FIX YOUR ALARM SYSTEM! This has been going on for LITERALLY years! YEARS! I’m sitting here right now in my house that’s a street away from your building and the alarm has gone off THREE TIMES in the last TEN MINUTES ALONE. I’ve made complaints. I’ve called the police department. I’ve called uhaul. But it never changes. They haven’t fixed it. You’re all ridiculous. I hate you.
Zero stars if it was an option. 3 visits and $400 spent for some lazy install not done correctly at all. I can’t even get my oil changed by the way this branch installed my hitch. How does this happen? I asked a different mechanic and in another mechanics words “ laziness, it’s not hard to install a hitch. The people who did yours were just lazy and didn’t care “Do yourself a favor and travel ANYWHERE else to avoid this branch.Worst part is I’ve tried to get a hold of corporate a few times with no calls and no help back. I will continue to reach out and if resolved I’ll update this review. But judging by the hours I’ve spent trying to get help and the three separate times I’ve had to go back to this Benton harbor branch, I am skeptical this review will be changed. I hate you uhaul - absolute worst.
Scheduled an appointment to get a hitch put on a week in advance. Went to drop off the vehicle just to find out they moved my appointment to 5 days later without ever calling me(the paying customer). Not happy with u-haul at the moment.The mix up happened because when you call the provided Benton harbor phone number you magically get directed to a call center that schedules the appointment for the workers without questioning their work load first... Amazing. Huge waste of time.Do not call and schedule anything. I recommend going to the actual store and talking to the workers if you have no other choice of company to work with. Ended up going to the competitors for the hitch. Great Job U-haul!!!
Very fast and friendly service, even early in the morning! Any questions I had about drop-off and milage were answered. They kept me fully updated on the status of my truck order. The truck was clean and the value was great. Thanks U-Haul for helping make moving day not miserable!
Our Benton Harbor U-haul is the best in the USA. We have friendly staff, smiling faces and EXCELLENT costumer service. And have a great location with easy access to the rental equipment. Great job
When I first arrived to rent my one-way trailer rental I was impressed by the customer service I was receiving, unfortunately it didnt end was well as it started.When I rented the trailer I specifically ask if I could be credited the price difference if I returned the trailer before the allotted 4 days and was told I would be credited the difference. Upon returning the trailer at another location and being told they couldnt credit me when I got home (after 6 phone attempts to speak with the manger, Terrill) I stopped back here to sort out the situation and was informed that they never do that and I would not be getting a credit back. Terrill, the manager just kept saying we never do that, youre not buying days youre buying a change of inventory locations and the number of days does not effect the price. He said if I would have needed more days and ask for that he could have given me that but we never credit an early return.Key advice for renting from this location, MAKE SURE whatever the teller says is actually true and in writing. Customer service is EVERYTHING, and unfortunately, these guys are now rating VERY low in my opinion.
The scheduling of a hitch installation was the only thing that went right. That’s because I scheduled online. Dealing with the actual store and manager was terrible. Got hitch installed over a week late. Showed up on scheduled day and was told no one there to install. Was never contacted or informed about this even though manager told me that we were informed prior. Eventually got it installed and 2 days later found out the wiring was not correct for the lights. Went back to store and left message for manager to contact me. Two days later called customer service again. I had called for both the delay in install and the wiring issue. Both time attempted to talk to manager before calling customer service and both time did not hear back from manager until after customer service action was filed. I do not know how places like this stay in business. I will never deal with U-Haul anywhere again. I will pull a trailer myself or carry stuff on my back before I would ever deal with U-Haul again!!!
After driving eight hours and five hundred miles to pickup my 6x12 enclosed cargo trailer for a move to Nashville I arrived around 4:55 on a Sunday after getting stuck in labor day traffic to find that this location had already closed. The locations states that I arrived at 5:03. Regardless, the location was closed, doors locked, lights off, registers closed with a customer still on the schedule to pick up a trailer. As I mentioned before, this was a Sunday. The U Haul costumer service representative was very helpful, but could not answer my question as to where else I could find an enclosed 6x12 trailer at 5:00 on a Sunday. She forward me to scheduling and they informed me that the only other enclosed trailer was 30 minutes away in Niles, and it was smaller. After spending nearly $300 in gas round trip and $230 on a smaller 5x9 trailer I could not fit everything. U Haul did not offer any compensation because they claimed that I arrived at 5:03. Now Im forced to make another weekend trip to retrieve the rest of my belongings and I will not be using this U Haul location, and most likely will not be returning to the U Haul brand.
Not well staffed and the online rental was messed up and gave me a truck in the middle of the return line. They had to clean it and then set me up with it. The staff was friendly and helpful. Just doesnt seem like its managed well.
This place its fine ....except for the attendants I had to wait until the 2 of the attendants had to finish their conversation and after 20 minutes he finaly decided it was time to fill up my propane.......people like this make this good places look so bad...
The benton harbor uhaul hands down has the most friendly and helpful general manager. He didnt think twice about bending over backwards for us, and we hardly asked.

Rented a trailer to tow our broken car home. Drove only 29 miles and the tire shredded right off the trailer and now we are stranded. Renter beware!!!
