I had a great experience from start to finish! Michael came to measure and give me an estimate - he was on time, professional, informative and highly knowledgeable about the issues that existed with my floors (previous owners tried to refinish them and it was a clear DIY job with multiple flubs). He explained the process, what to expect for how the floors would turn out, and provided a reasonable quote. Michael was able to fit me in on a schedule that worked with my availability and limited the time I had to spend out of the house (with the cat...challenging logistics for sure). I cant say enough positive things about this business - they earned themselves a huge fan with this project. Extremely happy with the results. Our1950s oak flooring needed refinishing, plus there was an area of older fir floor that needed total replacing. Mike purchased new oak shorts, pulled out the old fir, installed the new oak, then sanded and finished all. In the end, you cant tell where the 1950s oak floor blends into the brand new oak flooring.I highly recommend Mikes services if you need an old floor refinished. Thanks for the excellent job!

STUNNING! I met Michael in Feb19. We talked for 45 minutes about wood, sanding equipment, methods, finishes... I new I was talking to an artist. Our walnut floors were just refinished this past week, and they are amazing. The previous finish managed to disguise the fact that they were even walnut. the finish Michael applied makes them look like they were finished with five coats of oil (just two though, and an awesome oil-based finish). My highest recommendation on his work, and equally great to work with. So... he will be starting on new hardwood flooring (hickory) in two upstairs bedrooms, in just a week!

Michael did a beautiful job with our floors, and it was no easy task. The original floors were a combo of yellowed hardwood and carpet. He pulled up the carpet, refinished the existing wood floor, and tied in the new wood with the old wood so well that it is difficult to see where the carpet was! We are really happy with the outcome. We contacted Mike Smith at Distinctive Wood Floors to match an old red oak floor and weave new flooring when remodeling our kitchen and family rooms. After weaving in new flooring and refinishing the floors everything looked new and matched perfectly. You could not tell the new floor from the old and the weave made the old wall lines disappear. Mike has a lot of experience and training, he worked with us to plan the conversion from carpet to hardwood flooring in three more rooms in our home. We had Distinctive Flooring refinish the hardwood floor in the chancel of our church. The floor showed much abuse over the 25 years since installation. We had old floors, extended new to a previously carpeted area and the whole job is seamless and exactly what we wanted for the finished look.

Mike and his team had their work cut out for them with our project. We wanted to refinish our existing maple floor and extend them into the family room which previously had carpet. Unfortunately, the original mill that our floors came from was out of business and Mike needed to source as close of a match as possible form another distributor. One the new area was installed, the match was not great. The new wood had significantly more character than the existing. To make it right, Mike ordered wood to replace parts of the existing floor so that it had the same look throughout. The distributor messed up the order 3 times and Mike ended up driving to Portland from Bend to get the wood himself. Overall, the floors turned out great.

Originally we had Mike add oak hardwood floors to our dining and hall areas. We were extremely happy with the outcome. Recently he added several hundred sq feet more to adjoining living and bedrooms. He was able to match up the color and finish without refinishing the old rooms.We are very happy with Distinctive Hardwood floors and would recommend Mike for any flooring project.Mike was also able to schedule the whole project during our vacation.
