Haircuts are great but past few times Ive waited over two hours. I tried to make an appointment to see if that would help but I still ended up having to wait. If you have time constraints I would not recommend this place

Got a good haircut but thats the only thing that I can say that was good. Didnt feel welcome at all. My barber (name withheld) was more busy helping other barbers that cutting my hair. She (only female barbers work there) walked away from me 3 different times to help service other customers hair and the barber. Not very professional. I thought she should have at least asked Do you mind if I go help this other barber? No military or senior discount. Price too expensive for me.

One of the barbers gave me a product to try for free that after some regular use has almost cured my chronic dry skin on my scalp that has been a big bother for me for years. This place wasted my time this morning. Told on phone walk in only and nobody there. I come down, place is full. Wait 45 minutes as 6 people, including 5 appointments and 2 walk ins that came after me, is served first. Had to leave. Wont be back.

Diego took a walk in right before my appointment. I waited 30 minutes before having to leave. Was trying to get cut before visiting girlfriend’s family for the weekend.

Absolutely disrespectful Unprofessional owner/boss lady . Me and my two kids sat “so” respectfully and quite for “over” a hour when we checked in there was 3 people in front of us . She let 2 people go in front of us that did not have appointments who came after us . Even my 8 year old son noticed this . Absolutely trashed behavior on her part . Even the woman barber who we thought was finally going to take us said didn’t I just cut that mans hair last week 🤣

Haircuts at Wallys are now $28, used to be $21 before covid, its just too high when the haircuts arent consistently quality.My hair is particularly difficult to cut, though I have only gotten a haircuts that I would say I liked from Kim (whom I havent seen the past 2 times I have visited so perhaps they dont work there anymore). I got a haircut from a new barber who admittedly told me they previously worked at a super cuts (and it really showed in my haircut) and it was honestly disappointing (they ended up cutting my hair super short to fix growth on the side they didnt know how to fix. Its too expensive to keep coming back here and not get a satisfactory haircut, the last time I went they charged me $30 (not including tip) which is a steep price when other places have been lowering their prices during COVID related business loss. You also cant seem to place a appointment scheduled haircut as to not have to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes when arriving, the lady on the phone seems to have difficult understanding through the phone.

Ive gone here for 3 years now. Only stopping because Ive moved away. The haircuts are always good and they never cut it too short (occasionally it was left longer than I wanted though). The wait times however can be horrendous. It was common to wait 45 minutes, it even happened with an appointment. 4 stars because the wait time is too long but the haircuts are good and well priced.

I have been going to Wally’s for 4 years. Wally was a great man. RIP. His wife and daughter carry on the business now and do such a great job. Love the old school barbershop feel right in the heart of growing, downtown Bham. Deanna is the best around with ethnic hair and really any hair. Fades are her specialty but she can do it all and knows so so much about cutting and maintaining hair. Doesn’t matter how busy they are or what’s going on she will laser focus on whoever is in her chair whether it’s their first or 100th time there. They have plenty of chairs and do a great job training barbers and apprentices up. They have been incredibly disciplined and consistent with their cleaning through Covid times and make you feel safe as soon as you walk in and see the precautions they take. TV, music, seating and food and drinks when the world gets back to normal again. I tried a good few barbers out when I first moved and I recommend Deanna and Wally’s over everybody!

Long wait times & the haircut can take a while- but its well worth it for the customer service. Im always satisfied with my cut and they get it done right every time.

I went in with barley anything to work with from a bad cut literally the day before. They fixed my hair which was straight miracle work. Plus they were so friendly and payed great attention to detail. I highly recommend coming here for a cut and they’ll become your regular place before you know it.

First time in today, was seen by Devin. Exceptional experience! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and Devin was very meticulous about his work, it did not feel rushed at all and was hands down the best cut I can remember getting. Will definitely be back, and recommend others give them a try as well!

This lady gave me a humiliating middle part and wouldn’t listen to what I wanted. I asked for a fade with a hard part and she just did what she wanted instead. She said “I don’t know what this hair will do when it’s cut” but I’ve had the same haircut, by many barbers, for like 5 years. It will grow back, but I will not be returning. This place is way overpriced considering I could’ve done a better job myself. I’ll be wearing hats until this grows out, I absolutely hate it. I would have put only one star, but I got a free chapstick.

Absolutely the best, all ages and genders. I took my six year old son in for a cut, and he is extremely phobic of clippers (he got nicked once). The gal who worked with him did an awesome job with scissors, and even took some time with him to very gently start desensitizing him to the clippers. I also got my hair cut, and requested an A-line bob, which is hard to get right and Ive sometimes had extremely bad results from other salons. The gal who cut my hair took her time, checked everything carefully, and even checked in with her supervisor to make absolutely sure the cut was perfect - which it was! It looks gorgeous, Im so happy. They gave my kid treats and the atmosphere was really friendly and conversational. Definitely will return!

I had the pleasure of visiting Wallys for the first time today and although I am not one to normally write online reviews, I believe my experience earned this one. I was greeted with warmth and lets get down to business professionalism, the atmosphere was inviting and intimate without being overwhelming, the complimentary refreshments were a wonderful touch. Wally gave me an amazing haircut, I felt listened to and empowered to make sure I left satisfied. His demeanor struck me as caring and proud with a strong sense of integrity and confidence in his skill. I am very grateful to have found an establishment that instills an immediate sense of loyalty. It will be very hard for me to go anywhere else in the future.

I was in town and needed a haircut so I thought I would try this place out. However, I left after nearly 2 hours without even getting a haircut.When I got there they said it would be around a 20-30 minute wait, which was fine with me. Then after about 45 minutes had gone by, they told me and a couple other people that they had 6 people with an appointment that would need to go before us and that they forgot about it. They said it wouldnt take too much longer and I had already waited for a while so I decided to stay some more. But after waiting for about 2 hours, they still said it would be another 30+ minutes so I just left at that point.It was a pretty frustrating experience.

The only negative thing about Wally’s is that they are always busy! But that’s a good thing, I wouldn’t want a haircut from a place with no customers. They do high quality haircuts, with old fashioned touches for a great price.

Wallys is the best barber shop going!I searched for years to find a place that could cut my hair properly. A lot of barbers need to understand that not every person who wants their hair short, wants a square buzzcut, even when they ask for a Gentleman or Lawyers cut.It was refreshing to come to Wallys and have them understand the lingo.They take their time and either Wally or his daughter will inspect your cut before you go and if they dont like it, they trim it up to make it look good.You will probably have to wait if you walk up, but the wait is worth it as they have little snacks for you.I only wish they were closer to where I lived. The woman was highly unprofessional, threatened to kick my pregnant fiancees ass, calling her fat...just because I told her daughter to stop holding up traffic. The 2 guys working there were civil though and just tried to calm the situation. Thought about going there sometime as I like the whole old school barber shop feel but obviously thats not happening now.

After being in the Navy and dealing with military barbers, I make it a point to go to a high quality and relaxing barbershop for my cuts. Wallys in Bellingham is just that! Old school, quality, barbershop service available right here in Bellingham! Ive lived in Virginia and San Diego and experienced many barber shops and Wallys is by far the best! I also just recently got my cut from Anthony, and I will definitely be coming back because of his great style for my hair!

Since I had my hair cut in Wally’s barber shop I measure all barbers to his standards of quality service. I couldn’t find anyone as good as him or his stuff. The atmosphere is special in his shop. I am a Canadian and worked in Bellingham for a few months. I even was planning to come to Bellingham for haircut and visit my old friends down there, seriously. Unfortunately friend of mine call me and deliver a sad news, Wally is no longer with us.My condolences to his family and stuff. I always treasure memories of this wonderful man.Eugene Magid

Wallys is an awesome barber. I love getting my haircut there, its a little pricey but its worth it. That said, I had an uncomfortable experience the other day, not for myself but for another customer. I felt it needed to be shared.A young black male was loudly told to leave and shower/clean his hair. Wally refused to cut his hair, saying he didnt want a bad haircut leaving his business and he couldnt do a proper cut until the hair was cleaned. For lack of better terms, this young man had thick hair that was rigid and stood straight up. I dont barber so I cant speak for the reasons for cutting or not cutting hair. My main issue was he loudly confronted this young guy about his hair, in public, insinuating he was dirty and refusing him service telling him too leave and shower. The poor kid was speechless, embarrassed and left quickly.Wallys Daughter wanted to cut the young mans hair but Wally refused to let her cut his hair, saying it was his business and he would run it his way cause its his name on the door. She left and ran after this young man. They talked for a while and both Wallys daughter and the young man came back in. The young man waited for Wally to finish cutting. He looked extremely embarrassed and upset. Wally sat down and talked with him quietly but the young man looked to be on the verge of crying.I left before the situation resolved. It was extremely uncomfortable for everyone and I felt bad for the young man. Maybe it was resolved in a positive way. Im not sure but I do know Wallys daughter was doing the best she could to help this young man get his hair cut.This was my perspective of the events. I love Wally, I was disappointed how this was handled. I dont know if the young mans hair was dirty/ un-cuttable or it was just how it grows naturally. I dont think Wally treats every black mans hair in such a rude way, this was my only experience seeing this happen. Bare in mind also, I didnt hear everything that transpired and this was simply my perspective.Wally does really good haircuts and his staff is very friendly to everyone...this seemed out of the ordinary but it was a very bad experience. To the young man, Im so sorry that happened to you when all you wanted was to just get your hair cut and leave.
