My husband and I had a great experience with the adoption of our new family member Ali (formerly known as/adopted as Marie) who was a 3 month old kitten, at the time of adoption, from Kauai. As a COVID protocol adoption, we were sure what to expect adopting sight unseen. The Adoption team (Christie) did a great job speaking with us over the phone to ensure we had as full as possible understanding of her history, health, and personality. When it was over we felt much more comfortable than we expected when we went to pick her up the next day.The pickup was very smooth, and the Seattle Humane Society sent us home with everything we needed (including food and medication) to get the kitten settled at our home. The Seattle Humane Society was very good about checking in at regular intervals to see how she was integrating into our home and with our older cat.Three months later Ali is bringing so much Aloha to our lives!

We adopted our cat Vienna from here 3 months ago. Seattle Humane made it so easy to adopt a pet, and they gave us starter supplies to care for her as well as some toys she loves! We were also so happy it was more affordable then other adoption sites, since we did not want to pay $400+ for a cat. 10/10 would adopt from here again :)

I adopted my dog, Zooey from Seattle Humane in February of 2020. He was taken in from another shelter, he had been abused and had a healed previous leg fracture. Seattle Humane provided as much detail and education about him as they could to make sure he was going to a home that could give him the confidence and love that he needed to thrive. He is just the sweetest and happiest boy. I also recently adopted a kitten to be a companion for my cat who recently lost her very old best buddy. He is a joy. He was also a transfer from another shelter overwhelmed with pets. They do amazing work!

Seattle Humane has a big heart not only for animals but to people who adopt pets from them. I love how they call to interview potential adopters to ensure a good fit, make the adoption process easy once the match is made, and provide supplies and important information to the new owner.I received dry and canned cat food, cat toys, a vet report and social history, a cone to prevent him from licking his wound from the neuter surgery, and a variety of good information and coupons. Seattle Humane did everything very well and exceeded my wildest expectations.

My mom is always saying good things about Seattle Humane, and I wasnt disappointed when I went to adopt my new kitten. Her original name was Ariel, but I renamed her Kiada, and they made sure I knew how to do that for her microchip as well. They were so kind, and patient with me as it was my first time adopting by myself, and they answered all my questions about her vaccines and past treatments. I highly recommend.

We found our sweet doggo with help from staff at Seattle Humane, and she’s a perfect match for our family. After I completed an online application for the dog that caught my eye, a staff person called to tell me more about the dog’s history, breed, and personality, and set up a time to meet. Adoption process was smooth, facility was clean and beautiful (but still a shelter, so my dog was understandably stressed being there), I loved getting a Mud Bay coupon and some food for the transition, and follow up emails from Seattle Humane are reassuring that they are committed to finding the right forever home for the animals.

Hello! I went down to your facility 3 times a week for three weeks looking for the right dog. And when I thought I found it, and after I was allowed to meet with it as an available dog for adoption, I was told this dog was put on a soft hold by the manager for someone to come see it between 1-2 pm. It sounded odd as the front desk just told me it’s available but no biggie. It was a little past noon so I decided to wait around. At around 2:30 and after 2 hours of waiting they get a call..and now being told it’s a paid hold that lasts 24 hours and expires at 10:30 AM the next day and that I should return the next day to see if the dog is still available. Still seemed unfair and odd but I liked this dog enough I wanted to work with them. At 11:30 the next day I called and was told even though the hold technically expired, this dog is now on a soft hold for the same client until 2-3 pm. and that I have to wait until the hold expired. For a 1st come first served system, this certainly feels like you can get around it if you know someone on the inside, if you don’t, good luck because apparently it’s not about who came first and who’s following protocol! Seattle humane once again absolutely unprofessional! This is not my first bad encounter with this shelter, and where I support wholeheartedly anyone working in animal care, if you have a system, you should stick to your system!

I was a single working mother and could not bring $300 to their shelter and my dog was (hopefully) rehomed. I had him since he was 4 months old until 5 years old and given my tough circumstances they will not budge. I had a lot of respect for their institution and work they do until this happened. I dont believe there was anything humane for having to pay to retrieve your dog or give up your parental rights.
