We interviewed several TOP custom home builders when building our home in Bentwater, while most seemed more interested in SELLING us on themselves, Stephen was the one that was more interested in listening to us. While we thought we had most of the answers Hann Builders offered several creative solutions to our scenarios of desire, always exceeding our expectations. Stephen or one of his team members could always be found at our site, “Expecting what they were inspecting”. Hann builders, great personality, vision, professionalism and attention to detail.

The worst experience of our lives. The workmanship is appalling, it has taken over a year on a remodel started Feb. 7, 2018. See photos of the ill aligned drawers, the inside of the glass cabinets, the placement of hardware on doors and the peeling wood on the solid closet doors. This is just a sample of Hann Builders claim of “luxury” finishes. I wish we would have been warned ahead of time. We are hoping to save at least one homeowner the disappointment and expense of letting Hann Builders kill your dream.I hired a professional photographer to document the poor workmanship. We are happy to share them!

I could spend all day saying the things that Hann builders did wrong but the 1 star rating tells that story so I’m gonna say the things Hann builders was good at.First off, doing business with Hann builders does teach you what a good luxury home builder looks like. Not bc he is one, but bc you will hire one after he’s done to fix all the stuff he did wrong. I would’ve never known if it was for the terrible way my home was built.Secondly, he teaches you about attention to detail. No, he doesn’t pay attention to those things that’s what a good home builder does. This is where you come in. You have to pay close attention bc if you don’t you will be stuck with tons of mistakes that you will be fixing after the fact.Next, he really ensures that you understand all the ins and outs that go with home building. He doesn’t do this the way you would hope, no he has a unique approach to this. He starts with getting someone to do a job and then you release funds to him to pay the people and he doesn’t pay them. This method insures that you get a unique experience that teaches you how things work. You now get all the trades calling you to collect money that you thought was paid. Did you know they can just come and get the stuff right out of your house if they’re not paid. I didn’t know this until Hann builders taught me this. It was so awesome that Stephen put me in this situation multiple times!Next he will teach you that the customer isn’t right. I always thought it was the other way around especially when they’re paying that much but I guess not. Multiple times we got to be told it’s no big deal or that’s just how it’s done and sometimes he even got his trades in on the action. Basically they’re gonna build the house the way they think is gonna be good and if you say something it’s wrong and they will argue with you about it.The last thing he taught me is don’t believe everything you see. This is a great lesson! We saw his house and his awards but this can be misleading. You see most times what you see is what you get. Well, that’s not the case here. You look at a great example and go with it and you’re giving a piece of junk that’s nowhere near the quality you were expecting. Even at my house, things look painted from afar but it’s just primer, fixtures (outside gas lanterns) look like they’re good but you realize they were installed upside down, Sheetrock that is supposed to be straight is actually wavy and uneven just to name a few.In conclusion, you can use Hann builders and learn so many lessons like I did or you can be smart and use a good home builder (Kuehn custom) who is basically remodeling our new house and avoid all the stress, let down, disappointment, anger, and frustration. I would avoid these and have a positive home building experience but that’s just me.

Ive worked with contractors in the past doing remodel projects and I can easily say that Stephen Hann is top of class. He shows up when he says he will, sticks to the budget and timeline and is very thorough in his communications. When problems pop up, hes quick to fix them and doesnt make any excuses along the way. The quality of the work is outstanding and you can easily tell he takes great pride in his work. I would absolutely recommend him.

Hann does fantastic work and is very upfront on the difficulties and potential problems he could face during the course of the project. I was down in TX helping my parents during their remodeling and got to interface with Hann directly. Extremely impressed with his work, his work ethic, and his communication. I would recommend him to anyone in or around Bellaire!
