My boys have been active in karate with both instructors who by the way are amazing πŸ‘ for 4yrs. One 8yrs and 13 yrs old. Watching the boys grow to men and leaders makes me happy that this practice has been a big help. I look forward to many more years of growth for the boys. Thanks a million for the hard work and passion taught from these amazing instructors. God Bless!

I dont write many Google reviews, but I had to make an exception for the Heijoshin Dojo (I know this review may sound like an advertisement, but its only because I write professionally for a living.)I have known Sensei Rob and Sensei Paula since the day they opened this school (actually longer, because I also trained with them both for years.) They are two of the most qualified, capable, caring and dedicated martial arts teachers and human beings you will ever meet. They always go the extra mile to ensure that their students get the highest quality instruction, learn how to protect themselves, and more importantly, develop themselves to their fullest potential in all areas. This school is not just about teaching martial arts, but helping people become the best possible versions of themselves. I have seen many of their students, especially kids, go on to do amazing things with their lives. In this day and age, it seems like the quality of everything is dropping, and its hard to even find businesses you even want to recommend. The Heijoshin Dojo is a reminder that there are still martial arts teachers who have integrity, and really care about their students. Thats why theyve been around for so long. And trust me, this school is no belt factory. The training is fun, but its still challenging. They will not promote students unless they have truly learned their techniques, which is how it should be. When a student gets promoted here, you know they have EARNED that rank, and will definitely be able to handle themselves in the real world.Bottom line... you cannot put a price on what you will learn here, because Sensei Rob and Sensei Paula truly change their students lives. If youve never done martial arts, you owe it to yourself to try out a trial class.

My kidsΒ΄ experience with Heijoshin Dojo has been very positive. Both of my children have been taking lessons for two months. After one month of lessons, I started seeing a significant improvement in their balance, self-control, listening skills, strength, and self-discipline. The structured, respectful, and fun environment fostered by Sensei Rob and Sensei Paula make martial arts lessons a positive experience for children. I love the fact that the classes are small and that there are two instructors in each class, which allows for small group instruction. As a result, new students can learn new techniques quickly and feel good about their won progress. Sensei Rob and Sensei Paula complement each other well as instructors. While he incorporates some humor into the lessons, she gives positive feedback and encouragement to the students. This creates a positive learning atmosphere. Based on my experience in the last two months, I would highly recommend Heijoshin Dojo to those wishing to enroll their children in martial arts classes.

This is a more western style of karate and jiu-jitsu. They dont focus on the chi as I am accustomed to. I prefer the easten style from China and Japan. They are more European.

I could’t have anticipated what a transformative experience I was embarking on the day I walked into Heijoshin Dojo. My expectation was to lose a few pounds, get in shape, and learn a little about β€œkarate”. Now 2 1/2 years later I’m in the best shape of my life, 15 pounds lighter and as strong as Ive ever been . I have learned how to be thrown and fall with out getting injured. My balance , speed, coordination have improved immensely . I am learning to kick and punch and block a punch, evade and control an attacker - and that doesn’t come close to explaining the personal growth I’ve experienced. What began as a fitness experiment has turned into studying a martial art, Theres a lot of surprises from martial arts and both Sensei Rob and Sensei Paula continually challenge you both physically and mentally and still make it fun The people Ive met there are amazing and so supportive that class actually feels like a team sport. When you are continually challenged and working to improve techniques, form and speed you develop a type of discipline and confidence that carries over to all other parts of your life. This is by far the most unexpected benefit I’ve experienced from Heijoshin Dojo.I walked past the dojo for decades and am so happy I finally walked in.Do yourself a favor and don’t wait as long as I did.

I went here years ago and this place is great!!! Sensei Rob & Paula are really knowledgeable about the practice and take pride in their work. When my contract was up I did not know and they still allowed me to take the last class!! Wonderful people! I really like this place and the home they created they really care for people and want to help them. When you miss some classes they will even call you to make sure everything is good and you will be back soon which is great because it shows they really care and are not just in it for the money. I hope they continue to teach their wonderful practice helping people be their best self!!

I love love love this dojo. My children come to train here. My son is 8, started when he was 5. My daughter is 5 and she started when she was 4. They both love it. The price is fair. My kids can go and train from 2 days per week (requirement) up to 3-4 days (depending on how advanced they are).Adults also go to classes. Im not enrolled, but I did take karate many years ago and Heijoshin Dojo beats that place hands down!!Its family owned and you get the feeling like you are a part of theyre family. Everybody is very welcoming and warm. The skills my children have learned is incredible. Not only do they teach them self defense but they also learn about respect, how to treat other people and how other people should treat them. My son had a bit of a bully. They helped him get through that situation. They allow you to take a class at no charge to see if you would like to continue. Big plus in my book-I didnt know if my daughter wanted to do the ballet thing or the karate thing, we figured it out without dishing out $!This is the place to go if you and/or your kids are wanting to have fun and learn alot!

I have been training with Senseis Rob and Paula for over 20 years. They have a realistic approach to teaching and the diverse student base is a testament to the friendly and cooperative atmosphere at the dojo. Students progress at their own pace and this is definitely NOT a dojo where you simply pay a fee and get rank. Whatever rank you hold at this dojo is earned, for sure. You would be hard pressed to find a team more dedicated to their students success.
