I purchased some milk bones from here for my puppy, and now its DEAD. What is going on here? I came in for puppy treats and all I received was puppycide. What a shame. Theres a website called Chewy that has cheaper prices and quick delivery.

This pet store has a history of sourcing animals from pet mills. The management is competent, and you can see it with their high school employees. Go to amazon or chewy for your pet supplies.

The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. I was able to see 3 new puppies English bulldog, Golden retriever and Great Pyrenees/blue healer mix. I decide to choose English bulldog, Maddie made the process super simple she was knowledgeable and though my dog should meet the new dog in the store. Thank you again for finding my fur baby.

This place is so dirty and the employees at this location are too busy chatting to help employees. Obvious puppy mill dogs. Was approached by someone named Maddie and once she realized she wasnt going to get a sale from me, the whole attitude changed. Would definitely recommend the Hoffman Estates location over this one.

Please be aware all Petlands source their animals from inhumane sources and profit off exploiting them. They purchase dogs through puppy mills. Many customers have had their animals get sick because of the way they were bred/inbred. Ive known a few people whove worked at the batavia location and have horror stories.If youre interested in an animal, you can check out local humane societies or shelters, many of which have pure bred animals, if thats your thing. Youll save a ton of money as well as furry lives going to a shelter. A lot of them even offer a free vet exam with an adoption.I highly recommend Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin as well as Tails in Dekalb.If youre still considering shopping for supplies/buying an animal though petland, I recommend doing your research on the company first.

If youre looking for customer service then Id recommend avoiding this location. Numerous times Ive shopped here and have been ignored while I stand at the counter waiting for someone to come and ring me out. Today I waited at the counter while 2 associates were with customers watching them play with dogs. They saw me waiting but neither even attempted to ask if I was ready nor did they even make a move to come over. When I was about ready to walk out someone finally came over, rudely checked me out and threw my cash into my hand. I get that you guys need to sell animals and Im sure puppies are a big seller for you, but your associates need be trained on being aware of all customers and not just the ones interested in purchasing dogs. The only reason I ever come back is because this location is conveniently near by but after today I will no longer shop here nor will I recommend to anyone to shop here. I work retail too and I know how important customer service is to a business and its obvious this location simply does not care because its always the same everytime I come in, so maybe its a lack of training on the management side as well.

I really recommend this store if you are looking to buy a puppy! The store was so busy when I went in a few weeks ago, but the employees seemed to be very attentive. I came in looking for a chihuahua. Maddi was very helpful. She asked me a bunch of questions about my lifestyle and what I was looking for. She eventually recommended looking at this adorable little pomsky! Maddi thought this dog would be better for my fiancé and I. Sadly he was bought by someone else before we had a chance to. We loved visiting with this puppy and we left our phone number with the girls working there to call us if any more pomskys come in. The girls there were so kind and I will definitely come here again

Puppy came home with fleas and kennel cough from petland Batavia. I told them and nobody reached out to me. Do not adopt a pet from here. Too expensive to come sick.

Do not buy from here. There are plenty of dogs for adoption due to people returning them after Covid (sad). Not to mention you can get purebreds for cheaper and from ethical local breeders.

Took my friend here to look at puppies on Monday 5/10/21 and she bought one. So far he is a very good and healthy puppy. I shy from buying dogs at pet shops but these dogs are bred well and not just any puppy. She is very happy with him.

Customer service was great went in prepared to spend 1200 on a dachshund was told 4800. Give me a break my dachshund I have now wa 800 from a breeder

BEWARE!!!!!!! Horrible store!!! Horrible customer service!! The workers are rude and just stand around talking. They refused to help me. I spoke with who I think was the manager and she was rude and laughed in my face. I needed to buy things today but decided I would not give my hard earned money to a place that doesn’t deserve it. The on if Hoffman Estates is better.

This location is much nicer then the one in Naperville and the dogs didnt look sick here. Plenty of staff was there willing to help if we needed it. Lots of cute pups to look at, plus kitties, bunnies, hamsters, ferrets, and much more. Yalls large bird was definitely a hit with our son. He loved the fact he kept saying hello. All in all we will definitely be back to this location over the Naperville one which is much closer to us. Thank you!

I got the sweetest bunny here today! The staff was so extremely helpful going above and beyond to set us up for success and reccomend the best chew toys and food! They even cut his nails before we left and the little guy looked so content and happy with them. I wish I had caught their names but the two working today were amazing!

The prices for the animals were outrageous. Store was over crowded to the point I left. Not sure if they understand we are in a pandemic but that many people in that tiny little space was definitely a bit concerning.When I inquired about the bulldog they had for sale they quoted me $10k!!!! Ridiculous. I can go to a pure bred breeder and get a bulldog certified with paperwork for half that price.

Customer service here is great. They do nothave much to offer for dog supplies. I went specifically for a dog bed and I had two choices and they were over $60. Other than this, there are a lot of great things in this store. They have dogs here as well.

Petland tried to tell me that their Neutered AKC Blue/Gray - Boston Terrier puppy was $6500!! and then would only allow me to hold him if I was serious about buying him. The horse I bought today was cheaper, and I got to ride and pet it it before I bought it!

We love this petland. Staff is friendly and helpful. Weve become regulars just to see their bird gracie who was born the same day as my older daughter. Very clean atmosphere, always a joy coming in.

My family got a dog from here 2 weeks ago. They told us he was neutered, had no issues, and was up to date on all of his shots. We took him to the vet later that day for them to tell us he wasn’t neutered, only had one of the shots that he needs, and that he has pneumonia. We got him the medication we needed which added to the $5,000 for the puppy for him to die 3 days later. This place sucks. Adopt don’t shop.

Should not sell dogs terrible

My family went in to Petland to look for a leash for our dog. While we were there, we decided to check out their puppies that they had. We have been in the market for a puppy after losing one of our dogs a few months ago. What we saw was absolutely NOT acceptable. Any animal lover would NEVER be OK with buying a puppy from here and supporting such a deplorable and filthy place.First of all, there were several employees in the store (probably 4-5). We visited in the late afternoon, and there was only one other customer in the store, so they were not busy. I would like to point out that the employees were very kind and were interested in helping us, but they weren’t actually “working” besides when they would come over and answer our questions. Besides that, they were standing in the middle of the store at the desk and chatting. I am not one who cares about employees standing around, because I usually prefer to shop without being bothered, but the employees definitely had a reason to be busy. They were clearly not doing a major part of their job, which is to keep the puppies healthy and make sure that their environment is clean.What we saw in this store was just beyond unacceptable. There were 2-3 puppies in each cage. Some of the cages are larger, but there were 2-3 puppies shoved in a 3x3 cage. There were feces in every single cage. The puppies were stepping on their feces and you could tell that the dogs were filthy. Do these people know what happens to dogs that are kept in cages with their own feces and urine? They develop open sores on their little paws and get infections. How do these people not care? Where are the managers? Where is corporate? That is extremely disturbing and borderline neglect. If officials came into this store, they would without a doubt be cited for these conditions. There are so many reviews on this particular location that explain the poor health of puppies that people have purchased. PLEASE listen to these reviews. They are not wrong. How can you expect a puppy to be healthy when they are literally living in their own fences and urine? You can expect infections and parasites.We decided to ask an employee to take a dog out of the cage and play with it because we felt so bad for it. When the girl got the dog out of the cage, she immediately put it on the table in the back to clean off his paws, hoping we wouldn’t notice how filthy his paws were after living in that 3x3 cage with another dog. She then placed the dog in a booth for us to play with him and grabbed toys for us to play with. She then tells us that this dog might not know how to play because he probably hasn’t played with people and hasn’t been socialized. WHAT???? Mind you, this puppy was already 9 weeks old. That is an essential part of a puppy’s upbringing, especially during their first 8 weeks.The owners of Petland buy puppy mill dogs for a very little amount and then sell them for a ridiculous price. A dog that costs $1,500 a reputable, registered breeder would sell for about $4,500 here. You are taking the risk of buying an extremely expensive puppy who could be very sick and have quite a few of psychological problems due to lack of socialization and spending weeks in a small cage. You could end up paying thousands more for medical bills. If you are in the market for a puppy, please research reputable breeders or even check shelters. At least you will know that these puppies have been vet checked and have all of their age appropriate vaccinations.Please do your research on Petland before supporting them. There are many articles posted about the conditions seen at these stores. You are only supporting puppy mills and allowing this place to keep running despite their inhumane treatment of sweet puppies. I know that some people think that they are “rescuing” these dogs from this horrible place when they buy them, but they are only adding to the demand for these puppies. This place has been open for many many years and it is time for them to shut down. Save your money and buy from a reputable breeder.

Petland you should never put a price on a living being. You cant sell a dog that high. You should really re- think about how to price a living being. Thats messed up! No living being should have a high price tag. Shame on you! Shelter pets has a better chance of getting a home.

Love spending time with puppies on a stressful day! Though, the prices for them are OUTRAGEOUS. Almost took home this little girl, but even with a discount she would have been 4k. 3 times the amount of the breeder my husband and I picked out. Ridiculous.

Bought a dog from the Batavia location over the summer. the dog we purchased for $3800 was supposed to be to be a shih tzu/ Bichon advertised as a teddy bear breed. We ran a DNA panel on her and found out that she is shih tzu/ Pomeranian. they advertised the wrong breed of dog. When we called the wetland solutions department and emailed them the results of then DNA test a few days went by and was told by a representative that the DNA test are for amusement purposes only and they would not be able to do anything for us. FLASE ADVERTISING. STAY AWAY FROM PETLAND!!

Honestly, the puppies are VERY expensive and shouldn’t be so highly priced just for a local pet store. The staff push you to get a dog so they can earn more money. The puppy I bought is extremely cute but I then realized the things i could’ve done with $4100. All of the dogs are overpriced. The kit the comes included gives you nothing you need. Come on now, I cant get a leash? That is honestly ridiculous.

The Pet advisors know very little about the breeds and only to push you towards a dog they have in the store. Price was ridiculous, but because it was a gift to someone who was already in love, I paid it only to find outThat I could have and should have either rescued one or purchased from a reputable breeder;Puppy was sick on second day. Vet said Giardia caused by unclean conditions and Kennel Cough also from the deplorable conditions at the Missouri puppy mill for which my puppy came:YES! Despite what PETLAND claims and what I was told, by the sales person my dog came from a puppy mill. I know because the Source of the dog was on the paperwork and i check it against the USDA registry. He was also processed through a pet distributor in an effort to disguise the origin of the dog;I had no experience with a dog, and was advised to get a male Akita. I subsequently learned that this breed is on a list of NOT for first time owners and is notoriously difficult to handle if you dont have experience.I got a trainer, but made little progress.Between the nearly $4000 sales price, an additional $1100 in vet bills to keep the little guy healthy, and another $750 in training effort to make him manageable, I wish Id adopted a rescue that was already checked out for health and behavior concerns. Ill NEVER buy a dog again.Sadly I was left no choice but to surrender the 6 month old baby to the county animal control because I could not handle him and he was crying all the time.I learned a lot from this experience. Do your own research on the breed. Do your own research on the true source of these dogs. Poor breeding means expensive health costs and unhappy dogs and humans.really i learned to do the responsible thing and rescue abused or neglected dogs from the pound or breed rescues.These people should burn in hell for the lies and for supporting the horrible conditions that produce these pet store victims

Highly recommend getting a hamster from here. Theyre socialized so you dont have to worry about the hamsters being afraid of you picking them up. Makes a huge difference!

Same as the Hoffman Estate branch... Very rude once people are stickered shocked by their prices. Mind you I was very polite in declining the wanting of seeing the dog in question. This was due to the price, which I am on a budget not Petlands emotion of a loss sale. I was then told good luck in finding a dog and was hung up on. Not a great experience; and that was just over the phone.

This place is my favorite one to go to. Me and my daughter go here and pet the lil ones :) get my orijin cat food from here, they always have kind staff here and they seem to know a lot about all the pets :). The manager their is really awesome too i believe her name is Katie? She is the best!

Great experience purchasing my Bernese Mountain dog in June. Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She is a healthy dog without a single issue. Energetic and playful. I bring her back frequently, the staff remembers her by name and is always willing to give me advice if Im purchasing something or not. Theyre the best.

Usually happy with this place. I bought my cat here 15 yrs ago and had no complaints. Less than 2 weeks ago I decided to buy my hamster here. I bought a baby and she died from wet tail in less than 2 weeks. As a long time hamster owner and hamster breeder, I have learned that when newly purchased hamsters contract wet tail it reflects poor care in captivity. I went back to the store to get my money back or store credit since my hamster didnt even last 2 weeks. They refused to do anything because I hadnt purchased a kit for the hamster. Since I didnt, I only had 48 hrs to return the hamster. I told the manager that this was the first time I was told about the kit and 48 hr policy. The girl who sold me thr hamster said nothing about the kit or I would have bought it. They basically implied I was lying and was kinda rude about it. Probably not shopping here again and definitely would not recommend buying a rodent from them. Many pet stores neglect these little furry guys and thats how they sick. Really sad.

My husband and I stopped by the Batavia store and were absolutely disgusted by the appearance of the puppies in the cages. All the puppies that had long hair were filthy and had dried up feces on them. While I was in the store I observed the staff, 4 plus the manager James, just standing around talking amongst themselves in the middle of the store. To make matters worse, if that’s possible, I watched the whole time I was in the store two large breed puppies try to drink water but the bottle was bone dry - no pun intended. I informed one staff member and she thanked me and proceeded to fill up the water bottle. Poor puppy was beyond thirsty... another horrific site was to see four large breed dogs all crammed together in one crate/cage! We were so upset at the deplorable conditions I decided to make mention of my observations to James the store manager, who I might add appeared to be completely unbothered by my concerns for the conditions of the puppies. He assured me that the puppies were cleaned and brushed every morning; however, I can’t imagine the puppies pooping so much that it’s caked and dried up on them by 5:00pm??? Then he proceeded to explain that he has someone on duty making sure the poop has dropped under the crate, Are you serious? How about you clean the poop up... He apologized for conveniently not being able to provide me with a corporate number or the number to his boss. However, I was informed that I could search for the Petland corporate store in Kansas, I assured James I was quite good at research! The point of this post is to improve the conditions of the puppies that are brought to the store, and perhaps James maybe you ought to make an executive decision and have the staff members standing around, doing nothing, actually provide care to the pets in the store. On a final note, maybe you shouldn’t bite off more than you can chew by taking in more puppies that you or your staff can adequately provide care and attention for. How’s that for a concept Petland....?

To over price for dogs !

They are just in it for the Money! I was looking at getting a Peke-a-poo that they had on their website several weeks ago and I had scheduled an appointment. 2 days before I was supposed to go there I was sent a text and received a call advising that the puppy was adopted. I began looking at other puppies at other places. When I initially looked at the puppy I was quoted the price was $2000.00 but for scheduling an appoint that day it would drop to $1900.00. A few weeks later when I looked I happened to notice that the puppy was back on their website. Curious, I called and asked why she had been returned. They then advised that she was never adopted and was just taken to the vet. when I asked why they said she was adopted the rep stated that she did not know and would not give me information on why she was taken to the vet. I then asked to confirm if she was still the same price and now she was $650 more than what I was quoted initially. I called and left a message asking for a manger to call me back. When I asked them for the reason in the price increase they said they did not know and would have the manager call me if they could match the price I was quoted originally. I then called again and was guaranteed that a manager would call me that day. It is now a week later and still no call back from the manager. This whole thing seems shady on the part of petland. Like it was a ploy to try and get more money for the puppy. It is very suspicious. This store needs to be evaluated by the BBB. It is unfortunate that this puppy is still not adopted because this store does not practice good business procedures. DO NOT LOOK OR CONSIDER GETTING PETS FROM PETLAND!!! THEY ARE A RIP OFF AND A JOKE!

I visited the Batavia location today and felt vey saddened by the living conditions for some of the puppies. Petland should be ashamed. There were labradors approximately 6-7 months old crammed into kennels that were far too small. Petland appears more concerned with their own profits rather than the well-being of the puppies. I say that because these dogs were discounted but still priced in excess of $800. If they would have thoughtfully lowered the price on these aging puppies months ago then they would have had a much better chance of finding a home sooner. Their well-being deserved to be prioritized over profits. Furthermore, there were too many dogs in each kennel/crate. It was really upsetting.

They were really great helping us pick out a hampster. Lily was great, she walked us through a few pet options and helped us decide what was best for us

Awesome staff that clearly care for the animals, however they use wire hamster wheels that harm the feet of the animals, and the dog and cat cages are VERY SMALL. The prices are also a bit high. Also, they give their dogs a lot of chicken... However, toy selection is great and staff know things about them.

Visited the facility last month and couldnt believe the living conditions of these poor animals! Filthy, smelly, and neglected along with a disgusting store that hasnt been cleaned in forever. To top it off the owner DAN STARR is a complete jerk who treats customers like garbage!! ADOPT DONT SHOP!

After asking for help, the staff let us wait for over half an hour and sometimes just stood in the store doing nothing but we were being patient, we waited even though there were no other customers on an early Saturday morning. On top of everything all the 3 girls on staff would respond with a attitude and just made us leave the store without any of our questions answered even though we drove an hour to this location.

Why is this store ALLOWED to be running? How would you like to be shoved in small cages DAY AND NIGHT for even MONTHS until someone picks them out! Awful people running this and non mindful people buying from them! Shut this place down.

We had our daughters 6th birthday party at the Batavia location. It was such a wonderful experience. Our party host was Nathan, he was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! He knew every child by name and made sure that every child was able to pick a puppy to visit the party room. I will say that I was a bit nervous that the space would be too small, but it was perfect. Our party had 14 small children, we had enough time to visit with over a dozen puppies, eat pizza, cupcakes, open gifts & do a pinata. If you have a party, it would be a benefit to you to request Nathan as your host!

They dont have fish there anymore. I think the dogs are overpriced, but the staff is friendly enough. Good selection of dog treats and such, plus most pet supplies. They have some kittens, birds and other small critters.

(if I could give 0 stars, I would) STAY AWAY FROM PETLAND ALL PLACES LIKE IT!! Their animals are from puppy mills where they have been treated poorly and have possibly been exposed to harmful diseases. Petland may seem like a harmless place where people can take their children to look at all of the cute little puppies, but it can expose people to potentially harmful bacteria. They may tell you their animals are from reputable breeders, just know that these reputable breeders are places that have over 1000 puppies at the same time, abuse the animals, and treat them like crap (a.k.a. puppy mills). You can read about how people have gotten a puppy here (for a very unreasonably high price) and have had to put it down because of a problem that Petland didnt tell them about, or didnt know about. Dont bother with their complementary vet exam that comes with the animal, those veterinarians are just paid to assure you that your animal is healthy. If you are looking for a companion, why not go to a shelter? The animals are treated better, cost a substantial amount less than pet stores, and are healthier. You can help an animal in need, or you can find an unreasonably priced, unhealthy animal. The choice is yours.

Fire the tall skinny dark long haired high school girl. I told her 2 times the dog I was looking at peed in the room and I was holding the dog outside of the room for a good 10 minutes as the girl didnt do anything. Just walked around then I realized it was the emd of her shift and she was going home. She Litterally left me standing tjere for 10 min so that she didnt have to clean piss. She would rather have the baby walk in it.

I went here a few weeks ago to see what small animals they had available. As I walked in, I saw two employees leaning against the counter on their phones and laughing, I wouldn’t have really had a problem with this if the floor had been swept since I almost wiped out on the bird seed scattered EVERYWHERE! As I walked towards the small critters section, this big white bird took a stab at my ponytail as I walked by his cage (his cage was open and he was standing on top on his cage), again, I also wouldn’t have a problem with having a ‘store bird’ if it was nice but maybe Petland should consider not having a mean bird have free range of the store. I proceeded on to the guinea pig pens and noticed that one of the cages with about 5-7 guinea pigs was COMPLETELY out of water (not to mention the bottle was only around 8oz). I told one of the employees leaning against the counter that they were out of water and she replied “those sh*t heads, I just filled it!” She then proceeded to go back to being on her phone. I picked up the bottle and handed it to her saying “Please fill this, I don’t care if you just did it, they need to have water 24/7” she plucked it from my hand and said “fine” and stomped off to the back of the store. I then wakes back over to the small animals and looked at the bunnies, they had males and females in the same pen (hello inbred babies!!!!) as well as just having way too many bunnies in a pen together (around 6-7 bunnies crammed in to a 2’x2’ area)I could go on and on about all the things I found wrong with this Petland and just Petland in general. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUISNESS!! DO NOT BUY ANIMALS OR SUPPLIES FROM THEM!

I dont normally buy puppies from pet stores and this is exactly why.So i have a deer head chihuahua. He was listed as 2000$ and droped magically to 200. Never was told why. They just said its because hes been there for a while. I dont understand this part. They said they were very busy around 730. So it took 2 hours to get the dog and have paper signed. I was standing there forever when paper work took 10 mins at most. No one was asking if i needed help ir anything.So after having him a day or 2 the puppy is non stop coughing (honking cough). I take him to the vet and sure enough he has kennel cough. So if one has it most of them do. Expecially who they are housed with.The other thing about this store is the dogs cages are hardly cleaned. Pee and poop just piles and the store smelled strong of urine. This place needs to honestly be shut down. No one does there job right.

I went here with my little sisters to play with some puppies, hopefully relieving them of the tiny display cages these poor babies are kept in. Even though all the puppy play rooms were free, the employee I asked rudely turned down my request to play with another puppy. No sorry, just cut me off with no, thats our policy.As soon as I turned away she went back to gossiping with her coworkers about another customer. As someone who as worked in customer service, I am appalled. And as a lover of animals, I am saddened.

I used to love coming here, but now I am disgusted. The dog cages were overcrowded, the poor dogs are overpriced, and multiple were crammed into small cages. When we asked one of the male employees if we could play with one, he did not say a word and was incredibly dismissive. Please- adopt dont shop. I am saddened by the conditions these dogs are living in. Will not be coming back.

Can be a little expensive, but the variety of pet goods makes it worth it

My puppy has had many health issues. First of all, he came with ear mites. The staff also signed off that my puppy had his dew claws removed and he did not. My pup came from a dog mill and when I looked up the breeder, there are many negative reports made to ASPCA about him. I learned my lesson the hard way and I consider this overpriced puppy as being saved from this horrible dog store. He has generic neurological conditions that we will have to deal with for life. I went here with my sisters to play with puppies. My sister asked if we could play with another one, and the lady cut her off mid sentence and said there was a one puppy per person rule. I’m okay with that, but at LEAST find a way to say that it a way that doesn’t sound rude and condescending. We also heard the employees gossiping about customers who had just left. Extremely disappointed with their customer service.

MY DOG WAS PURCHASED AT PETLAND AND HE BECAME PARALYZED WITH NO SIGNS OF CAUSE WITH EVERY TEST WE GET. MY FRIENDS AND PEOPLE I KNOW THAT HAVE ALSO PURCHASED DOGS FROM HERE ARE SUFFERING FROM MAJOR HEALTH PROBLEMS. I ALSO WORK AT AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL WHERE EVERY PET FROM HERE HAS RECEIVED TREATMENT FOR HEALTH PROBLEMS. I DONT CARE TO LEAVE REVIEWS BUT I CARE ABOUT MY DOG AND I WANT TO WARN ANYONE CONSIDERING PURCHASING A PET HERE TO BE AWARE OF THE LONG TERM COMMITMENT THAT COMES WITH THESE HEALTH PROBLEMS. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED WITH THE PRICING OF THE PET, THIS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE MEDICAL BILLS YOU WILL PAY TO CARE FOR YOUR PET. HIGHLY ADVISE PEOPLE TO AVOID THIS PLACE.

I absolutely love this location, and used to come here all the time when i was younger with my friend who lived closeby. Im not sure why I ever stopped going here... This Batavia location is 1000x better than the Golf rd location for MANY reasons. 1, cleanliness. The overall store was very clean and orderly. Small critter enclosures looked well kept despite the ferrets had some hardened food (from sitting out for a while). 2. Customer service was top notch. We asked to see a kitten and a yellow lab, the woman helping us was SO nice, so informative and educating concerning the packages which come with the furbabies. Although the pricing is very high- it is CLEAR this location actually cares about the wellness of their animals, their cages/enclosures and they want to provide you with the most information possible. 3. Staffing in the back for the animals. I noticed 3 girls working in the back dedicated to caring for the animals, washing blankets, cleaning the cage catchers etc., vs the Golf road location who only had 1 staff member in the back. I will never go back to the golf rd petland after seeing what high standards the Batavia location has. We were there for 2 hours, and we spent 1hr with each animal. If it hadnt been closing time im absolutely positive she would have let us stay til our hearts were content. Besides, how else are you supposed to know if its the right animal for you if you cant spend adequate time with them? Or see exactly which ones appeal to you, whether it be 2 or 5 in the duration of your visit. Although I do wish Petland would develop some kind of system for the puppies who are quickly outgrowing their spaces- it was sad to see the australian shepherd bouncing off the walls(literally) due to needing exercise. Thank you Batavia Petland and staff for having hearts for your animals, and customers!

Purchased one of my two bearded dragons from this petland location. He’s an active reptile and plenty healthy! The store is well organized and the staff is excellent. Thank you to Skyelaar for educating me on how to take excellent care of my beardie! Wont find me at any other pet store.

Started inquiring about a Great Dane puppy that is in store. When we began asking questions about colors and parents(on Facebook) they got defensive and deleted the photo entirely. The great Dane puppy they have is likely a double merle and is very prone to vision and hearing loss. Its a result of spot to spot breeding or a carrier of a spot. They can show you pictures of the parents all you want, but its likely untrue. Research double merle and that puppy is a spinning image of one. The questions were out of concern and to begin finding an owner who understands the responsibility of a double merle. Unfortunately they dont seem to care about that in the least bit. I just hope that sweep baby finds a home that doesnt give up as the puppy gets older and they realize there are hearing and/or vision and other impairments.

This store has a very pungent odor. Im not sure if it the ferrets or poorly maintained dog cafes but I could barely stand to be in the store

Purchased a puppy in February and totally got scammed!! 1400$ Boxer/Bulldog mix....ya right maybe Beagle, Hound, Bulldog who knows what mix?!?! Love my pup but researched breeds and specifically wanted Boxer/Bulldog. To top it off the puppy got very sick two days later so we had to make numerous vet trips plus multiple antibiotics, oh last but not least the puppy also had parasites. This should not be allowed to happen! False advertising popular breeds and what you really get is a sickly puppy mill mixed pet. DONT BUY PETS FROM PETLAND!

Offered $2000 for a puppy that they wanted $2600 for. They said no. My research showed that puppy typically sold for $1000 - $2000. I was at the top end and was denied. If they wouldve sold that pup , I wouldve also bought the 2 kittens as well. Plus countless amounts of toys. They lost out on alot of business to make a couple extra bucks on 1 dog. Oh well. Off to a shelter. I wont be back.

So I was at the store which my 5yo daughter and we asked to see a small puppy we are not used to puppys and it was our first time with it the lady brought it to the room and left without saying anything the puppy was really active and my daughter went on the bench because it was following her around while she was laughing all of the sudden the lady came in after like 1 min and said I’ll take him since u r not playing with him!!!!She took him and left without asking me or waiting for me to say anything!!! She was really rude and meanMy daughter was crying all the way home and kept saying why did she take him soo soon!!The lady was tall with dark hair and long black eyelinerI really hope they can tell their employees how to be nice at least to kids!!!!Last time for me at this place!

Way over priced for dogs! They are not of breeding quality which u expect to get for the prices they are charging. Our dog has tons of medical genetic issues. No one will breed with us because of those issues. Staff was rude when I suggested they compesate us for the deception. Further more dont finance anything unless u are comfortable with 25% interest even with an experion score over 750! They claimed all dogs are not guaranteed to be of breeder quality despite being told the breeder my dog came from being a reputable source or so petland stated. I call BS on that one. No info about breeder was given and upon requesting was directed to akc website where I need to pay additional money for pedigree. Stay away from these rip off artists and pet mill supporters. Rebecca was quite rude during the conversation about a refund. Recorded whole conversation.I also signed an agreement to stop puppy Mills but where did they get our dog from? Yes u guessed correct a puppy mill!

Went today on June 5th to look at the ferrets as they were just opening up, we glanced around and on our way out a dog howled, and one of the male associates says to a female associate I heard that and thought you stepped on a dog. The female associate replies I would never do that out in the open! wish we had gotten her name because that was extremely inappropriate.

They were racist and after being approved for the puppy the employee Katie picked who she wanted to have the puppy, my daughter was heartbroken!

Purchased a cavachon one day ago..Cute lil puppy. Only to take her to vet today to find out she has FLEAS and UPPER RESPIRATORY INFECTION dog is coughing and hacking and scratching, runny nose, and yellow mucus in eyes....This is all from petland shes been in our possession less than 24 hrs. And the sad part about this is I spent 2K and they have other dogs who are likely infectedand they said they Never had a dog who had fleas, which I do not believe..This was the manager Rebecca..Additionally, the dog expected to be sick another 10 days or so..She moanings. Im pissed. Now I understand why places like this should be allowed to get pets...Pure inhumane and negligence.I am first time pet owner and clearly worried about this pet and ALL the other pets in their care. So disheartening.

Extremely overpriced dogs go to Crystal Lake Petland and get the same ones for $1000 less and for hamsters that don’t have wet tail
