The new management has been great to work with, as they take initiative to address concerns. It looks like I have had a different experience than other reviews, as I have never had an issue getting ahold of them. Walking distance from what Downtown Barrington has to offer. I was planning on moving after my original lease was up, but with the changes the new management implemented, I ended up extending my lease. Very pleased with my experience here.

The management switched around March/May. They used to be engaged with the residents. The current management has since tinted the windows to the office since nobody is ever there. They are unresponsive and HARSH. I get more emails about petty rules, like no lights on the balcony, and towing cars than anything useful. You overlook empty car lots, a burrito express, and a gas station. No amenities aside from 2 grills and a lounge. Absent management. Expensive pricing. This is also the only apartment that I have felt they actively kick people out. Since the new management has taken over, they have immediately given notices for move out months in advance. Parking lot has 4 visitor spots by the way, so have fun getting messages about towing cars every week. I would stay away. Giving it 2 stars because the Barrington downtown is nice and at least the apartment is clean.

The lack of caring about the tenants (on a personal level) from new management is unbelievable. It went from feeling like a locally run company to a corporation. The door to the management office at the front is always closed. It hides the fact that they are there maybe half the time. Good luck trying to get in contact with them; the phone number sends you to a call center. This is far from luxury.

This place was very good until it was recently bought and now under new management. Unfortunately, the previous reviews dont apply. Other renters may have had different interactions but I would no longer recommend and am not renewing.

I wish I would have known it was going to be sold before I renewed my lease. One of the reasons I chose 101 West was the good reviews so I feel obligated to leave one now. There is new management that is more worried about petty things the residents do and taking pictures than actual problems (fixing the broken elevator, broken fobs, water filters expired in common areas, etc). It is like a private equity company bought it.... little awareness of how they sound to the residents. Also, in other places I lived, there usually was a more soft approach at the beginning of new management (refreshments in the common area, celebrations thrown, etc.). This is not the case. I am going to look elsewhere.

I absolutely love this place . My girlfriend and I moved in a few months ago - it was such a wonderful find, we have only positive things to say about it.To start, the management, particularly Kendra and Valerie, are so warm and friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The one or two basic service request we have had so far were dealt with promptly and politely. The building and the grounds themselves are always clean and well maintained. The gym upstairs is super convenient and well equipped (we were very excited about this feature when we came across it in our apartment search). Since moving in, we have also enjoyed grilling and hanging out on the spacious roof top and chilling in the community room - a beautiful view of town and a beautiful space to relax. The other tenants seem very friendly and everyone is very respectful of one another; management has definitely found a nice bunch to fill the building.And of course, you can’t beat the great location: walking distance to the train, the library, parks, cute shops, and great restaurants, not to mention close to grocery stores, the movies, and schools. The apartments themselves are superb - a classy, modern design that instantly felt like home. And so quiet!We have nothing but good things to say. Fellow renters, get in and check this place out quickly. It’s awesome here, and any spaces left will certainly fill up fast.

We just renewed our lease for another year without reservation.We have lived in several rental communities over the last many years and 101 West Apartments fits our adult family needs while providing one of the best rental expediences.In our experience, living in rental communities always provides challenges from tenant behaviors to building improvements. As for behaviors, the community might best serve families with older children. As for the building, ownership/management is quite attentive to the concerns we have brought to their attention. Additionally, ownership/management continually strive to provide enhancements including water conditioning system for the entire building.Our initial experience with 101 West was with Valarie and the transaction and follow-up was perfect. Over the last year we have worked with Kendra as on-site management and we have thoroughly enjoyed our interaction and we look forward to another enjoyable year.

Moved in a few months ago and I will say that aesthetically it was not misleading. Kendra is very friendly but I do wish someone was here at least half a day on the weekend as most tenants work during the week and sometimes you’d like to have an in person discussion. The residents I’ve met are friendly and respectful which I love. Now onto some areas for improvement; it’s a pet friendly building but I wish I didn’t have to hear the dog across the hall barking for an hour + all the way in my bedroom. I know kids have a lot of energy but running down the hall screaming at 8 o’clock at night isn’t really the best.Finally the workmanship detail / cleaning of units could probably be better for a “luxury” building at the rents their asking. Overall this property FAR EXCEEDS anything else in the area and the minor issues are compromises I’m willing to make because Kendra is really awesome and makes every effort to make everyone feel comfortable and connected.

One of a kind in Barrington Area. Building management onsite is very professional and pleasant. 101 goes out of its way to create a community experience for the residents and families. Quarterly social events in the community space and rooftop creates bonds between the residents that makes this a friendly, supportive and safe place to live. Thanks 101 West, and Kendra!
