I asked for a quote before the work was done and could not get one. Once the work was completed (tire rotation and oil change). I nearly choked over the bill. Over $200 Totally outrageous. I recently had the exact same service at a different area garage - $74.00. Based on positive reviews I felt good about going here and should have researched more. Just want to help others out. Wouldn’t use this place unless you have an old quirky difficult to fix import. And lots of money.

David was very generous and humorous. We are on vacation and our brakes were stuck and he fixed them within a couple hours. Everybody on the island said that you will have to go to Ellsworth to find a repair shop that could help us but he knew that we were hundreds of miles away from home and took us right away. He saved our vacation! Thanks David for turning our frowns upside down. “Drew miester, Dexter or whatever your kid’s name is.”

Dave White the owner is amazing! The alternator on my Sprinter van died while we were on vacation and he really went above and beyond the call of duty to help us get back on the road the same day. I cant rave enough! Some of the negative reviewers here should try making a living as a small business, they have no clue.

Wont allow you to provide the parts to save money, he got upset with me when I asked for a price quote for the labor if I provide the part... he said providing the parts was like bringing your own food to a restaurant, which I suppose it would be if you were paying the restaurant to cook said food for you... Every shop Ive ever been to has been okay with people providing the parts. He also said he didnt want take the time to come up with a price quote unless I was actually going to have him do the work, apparently hes never heard of the very common practice of comparing prices.

Dave and the crew are helping us every step of the way. Highly recommend if you have a imported car and live within 50 miles of MDI.

Been living on the island for ten years. Tried just about every mechanic on island and I can say I have never been treated better. Work was done fast and professional even though I was a dink and let it go way too long. Thank you so much

I was in Bar Harbor and need to replace the Strut, after searching all over, other than Mercedes in Bangor, 1 1/2 Hour away, this was a very convenient option.I ask references from locals and, David, the owner has an honorable and professional reputation, as soon as I called for an estimated, he took his chance and order the parts ahead, so when I show up he had everything to fix my Mercedes.Fare prices and excellent service.I highly recommend this work shop.

Friendly and quick service

Soooo our car was making an awful noise and having a hard time starting. We had it plugged in at advanced auto and the only thing to show up was an O2 Sensor that had gone bad. We took it to MDI Imports because the reviews were great and were told the service was fast. Our suv was there for 2 months. We left them alone the first 2 weeks figuring maybe they were busyand it wasnt too urgent yet.All my husband and I asked was for it to be looked at and be told what was definitively wrong so we could move forward with it. 2 months and every time we called we got different answers as to what was going on with it. Wed have the symptoms we described repeated back to us as an explanation of what was wrong, what he THOUGHT it might be, or tell us he had run the diagnostics and in the same breath tell us he would have to have them run them! Or tell us the mechanics had looked at the vehicle then say it hadent even been brought into the garage yet and no one had had the time yet! This happened EVERY TIME me or my husband called to see what was going on. So we have no idea what was even done to our vehicle at this point. Anyway we paid our bill and had my SUV towed home. Done. So I still have to take it somewhere else to be told what is ACTUALLY wrong with it. I dont recommend.

Fantastic euro shop. My wife was on vacation visiting family when a coolant return line fitting failed on our GL550. Of course it was on a Sunday morning, in the middle of nowhere, while she had our dogs in the car. I figured it was going to be a long tow to a dealership, an over-priced repair, and a night or two in a hotel while the work was done. I checked Google maps, saw Daves reviews, and took a chance. The car broke down 8 miles from his shop, so it was an easy tow. I called Dave on Monday morning, he quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and had my wife back on the road the next day. I strongly recommend this shop. Its great to know there is a better choice than the dealership for work in that part of Maine.

Had my clutch break while on vacation. Dave got us in quick and saved the trip! Youd be hard pressed to find a nicer more conscientious mechanic. Wish we lived close by.

Great food And great staff

Up on vacation with my Audi, having some trouble and was going to go to Bangor... happened to see their open sign on after 6pm and stopped. AMAZINGLY helpful, the owner CLEARLY knows what he is talking about and has the tools and experience to back it up. I wish I had a shop like this where I live, it would make my life so much better!
